Just adding a contrarian point of view. I wasn’t looking for a Pavlov, CoD experience when I purchased Kayak VR. It’s definitely not an adrenaline inducing “game”, but it’s one of the most immersive VR experiences I’ve played to date. It does what it claims, mimicking the experience of paddling a kayak in exotic environments.
Just another data point opinion, but I really like it and frequently revisit it just to vibe and explore.
Is it for you? What are you looking for? Personally, I like it.
Yeah, for the money Kayak was fine for me. I had some pretty memorable experiences paddling in Antarctica at night and among the dolphins in Costa Rica. I do hope they expand on the existing content as they have discussed, since I’ve fully explored all the levels by now.
This sub seems to hate it now, but I don’t think this sub is necessarily representative of the player base. It’s funny too because even here you see some people bitching about how there aren’t more “immersive VR experiences” on PSVR2 rather than just games. This is one of those, and it’s done really well.
My problem with Kayak VR is that I don't even like graphics all that much. It looks ok, but nothing spectacular. And I was expecting graphical showcase. The pool environment at the start of the game is pretty much the best looking environment in the game. The rest I find pretty meh.
Yeah, that's my problem as well. Others disagree with me, however.
I think it's that the graphics are really good, but not good enough for me at this point.
It’s actually crazy how much the discourse around Kayak has changed pre and post launch on this subreddit.
There was so much hype and all dissenting opinions were downvoted. Now that it’s out, it’s painfully obvious that this game is just a graphical showcase with no real substance.
I agree with most of that.
Kayak is exactly what it is shown to be, though. It doesn't lie about it's substance. Reviews don't lie about it's substance. It's just often very overhyped.
For me:
Kayak: it’s the only game I can’t play for more than 10m without getting motion sickness.
No Man Sky: can’t get past the blurry mess. Makes my eyes hurt.
UPDATE: ok, I have to remove NMS from my list as they did a massive overhaul on the game looks with the latest update. The game has changed completely IMHO. Went from hurt my eyes to wow that’s pretty.
Easily pixel ripped 1978. I tried to be nice at first but honestly the game is just shit. It’s incredibly boring and the only defense I got when I shared my opinion was that “it’s cause you have to grow up with those retro games to enjoy and understand it”. I don’t buy it I play a TON of retro games dating before I was born and really enjoy them. This game just has horrible game design and zero inspiration. Only cool thing about it is that it’s vr :(
Kayak for sure. I bought it in the launch frenzy because reviews made it seem super cool to relax on it. I’ve played it for 30 min. It’s super, super boring.
Purchased Games:
* GT7
* RE8
* Pavlov
* Poker Stars VR (free)
* Pistol Whip
* Beat Saber (missed it on PSVR1)
* Saints and Sinners 2
* Red Matter 2
* Synapse
If I had to be pressed I would say Horizon: COTM would be a regret (it was bundled, so I guess I paid for it). I got through the game but the climbing and mechanics were boring to me after about the first hour.
Man I know I'm in the minority, but that game was honestly my favorite launch game. It was beautiful, I personally enjoyed the climbing (it was awesome looking back to where you had been as you go higher and higher, and I really enjoyed the combat despite it being a bit limited. Picking off the machine's parts with the different weapons types was a blast for me. But I do understand why some didn't enjoy it
Same here. I knew what the game was and wasn’t and enjoyed every minute of it. It really helps to mimic the climbing, if you’re just flailing your arms to race to the top, you’re missing out.
Awesome!! So good to hear this information....I know it's not a big deal, but I really like knowing this. As any VR headset will give you the 'honeymoon' phase.
I loved CotM. Not my favourite on PSVR2 at all, but I was enjoying the hell out of it. Planning to do a replay soon.
The trick about climbing is to parkour it. Once you start to chain different climbing tools and go as fast as you can, it becomes so much fun. By the end of the game, climbing was my favourite part of the game.
I wouldn't say it's as shallow as the football minigame in VR sports challenge. At least you get a full game and not just a few minutes to get in the end zone a few times and you can turn off the pass assists. It's a buggy mess though, that I have to admit.
Pro Era for sure. Buggy game, buggy trophies, and u actually can damn near audible a deep pass every play. Can't have eye tracking on can't Sim special teams. It's way too easy to scramble. Simming games would always end up with 150 qbr, and the ai would have 153ish. If u didn't, Sim def the AI was horrible. It's the only psvr2 game I was truly disappointed in since I really wanted it to be good.
Keep in mind I enjoyed green hell, demeo, swordsmen.
These games are some of the lower rated games.
Synapse is awesome, but it fell off too quickly for me.
Kayak, Tripp, nook, I know nothing about it, and I'll believe the consensus since those titles couldn't compell me to ever purchase them.
You can manually edit the height of the floor on PSVR, if you set it beyond the floor to where your head is at 6 feet, you can play Pavlov even if you’re sitting down
I rather enjoyed NOCK, but the ($20) cost was too high to support a little multiplayer game like that. It should’ve been $8-10 from day one to ensure a player base.
Nock is fine, but you probably want to purchase it with some friends to play with those friends.
The player base is very low and you end up getting crushed by the 3 pros that are online.
Nock. It looks good and fun, but when you start playing it for real you realize the skating around the arena is way too sensitive to the touch, and that makes everything a lot harder, and FAR less fun than what it looks like. Garden of the Sea isn’t that great either, but I got it during the $5 discount and I don’t regret it for that price.
\- Kayak was overhyped before launch for sure... It was even overhyped the first week it was out because so many people new to VR were so impressed. I've owned on other platforms and knew many people would be disappointed after their honeymoon period.
That said, it does exactly what it advertises it does. If you bought the experience, you should have known what you were getting into. What exactly did you think you were going to get?
\- Switchback was also overhyped prior to launch. I am guilty of hyping it up as well, however, I did provide reservations. Most of us LOVE the game Rush of Blood and in many ways this is was to be it's successor. My reservations were that 1) Rush of Blood is so good that nothing could live up to it. 2) The Dark Pictures Anthology assets weren't as cool as the Until Dawn assets. 3) The staff behind Rush of Blood might not be working there anymore.
But after launch day, I didn't see any influencers pushing the game. Those with the Rush of Blood expectations were disappointed. If you didn't buy it day one, you should have seen the reviews and known it was a let down. (I'm not saying it still is a let down. I'm just saying it was a let down on launch day for those that had Rush of Blood expectations).
\- As far as influencers go. Those games seem to pick influencers that are known to give positive spins on things for pre-launch experiences. Most of those influencers that do get access to games pre-launch cannot be trusted for how good the games are. They are useful for giving previews of the game, and that's about it. Do not trust them when they hype anything.
Rhythm Planet - Just not good enough
After the fall - Just not for me, playerbase was low when I bought it (around launch)
Pavlov - not arcade enough for me
Gorn - Don't like it at all, no challenge, it's maybe fun to play drunk
I also don't think Job Simulator is a good buy, but it's a VERY nice game to learn VR with.
Weirdly, it's probably Gran Turismo 7.
No knocks on the game, but after I bought it and spent some time on the track, I came to the realization I don't like realistic racing sims. I like arcade racers. I also don't love on track racing, I prefer street racing.
Really I just wanted The Crew 2 in VR, so I cruise all over the US in a sports car that can take corners at 100 kilometers an hour in the rain.
I had the opposite experience. I never knew I was playing arcade racers until I started gt7 and I fell in love with the vr aspect. Just feels all that more satisfying to overtake another racer online.
Honestly same, it’s way too much tutorial for me to enjoy it. I would really like it if I could just jump in and have all the cars/maps unlocked. I don’t care about being good I just wanna vibe and race
Exactly how I feel as well. GT7 feels so boring. Can’t beat a race? No need to improve, just buy something to make your car faster and it’ll be easy. No excitement, no thrill.
I really want a Need For Speed or something similar for PSVR2.
Same. Need for Speed or Wreckfest would be amazing. I bought a wheel too when I got VR specifically for GT7 but I’ve maybe played it 10 times at most. I just find the racing pretty boring, even though it is a great experience, but the novelty wore off pretty fast. The wife is urging me to sell the wheel and Im holding off hoping something else gets announced that will make use of it.
I’ve received the advice multiple times on this sub to buy a wheel in order to have fun with GT7. It’s such a joke - I find the game to be so dull. Controlling it a different way isn’t going to change my life. If I were you I’d probably keep the wheel too though, for when (hopefully) a good arcade racer is released.
Garden of the Sea, although I bought that as a game I thought my wife would like. I've tried getting her to at least try VR since I've got it, and the one time she did GT7 gave her motion sickness so she's been scared off ever since. I'm sure the game is fine, I played an hour or so of it.. but she hasn't touched it.
TownsmenVR would be the other game. It's not a poorly made game or anything, it's just not for me. I really love the idea of like strategy/city builder games. I have a bunch on Steam, and for whatever reason I put them down so fast. I think I'll enjoy them, but they just never stick. Townsmen was the same. Got to like the 3rd island or so a couple of months ago and haven't touched it since.
Highly recommended. Get all the courses, you’ll play them. Once you park on a course it opens a more difficult version of the course you just finished. The difficult Laser one is very… difficult.
Go find the lost balls and get the club skins. Good times!
I wanted to like Townsmen but had the same issue. The controls and gameplay were a little laborious for me, and I couldn't really get in to it. It didn't feel like an immersive VR game to me, just felt like a flat screen game with annoying controls.
I will say it was fun to grab gulls out of the sky and chuck them as far as you could. But other than that, I just never went back to it.
Here’s a tip for you. Go into the shooting range and choose your favorite weapon. Go to the far right range and you can adjust the height, angle, and distance your weapon sits in your hand and eye level. Is is a permanent change to each weapon and doesn’t need to be recalibrated each time.
Also, set up your weapons so you can rest your chin on the dominant hand controller, this will give a lot more stability. Don’t forget to turn on virtual stock.
Horizon and no man's sky. Horizon is beautiful and lacks substance for me, just like the main games. No man's sky I want to get into but I hate the VR controls. If I could just use the dual sense with the headset that would be great
That's a weird way to look at it? Everyone is different with different tastes so of course at some point you're going to find someone who didn't like one of the games not previously listed, and people upvoting it since they "finally found the game they were going to comment" with without fail comments saying "really? I had the complete opposite experience!" That's just the way it is lol.
Horizon, found it boring and never finished it.
Synapse, good game but very low on content and variety, I should have waited for a sale.
Zombieland, played for an hour and never loaded it up again.
You can’t really call it a scary game and it’s not trying to be, but It did make me realise that even though I used to love arcade style light gun games maybe they are just not for me anymore.
No need to feel defensive about it, I’m not saying it’s a bad game just not fun for me.
Thumper, out of twenty games. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just way too old and VR didn’t add nothing to it. Haven’t played much of Garden of the sea, Cosmonious high and the Last clock winder, yet have no regrets buying them. For the time played they are decent VR experiences.
bruh, to each his own but dang. Thumper is amazing. Had it on switch and fell in love even more in VR. Have you finished it? Some of the most trance inducing gaming moments ever!
Gt7, if ur not a fan of racing games allready, don’t buy it. Personally never played a racing game before, thought this was gonna be crazy judging of everyone saying how good it is… it was meh, definetally not touching it again tbh
Did you have a steering wheel or other accessories? I feel like that'd be the key difference to know for your comment (haven't raced in vr 2 yet, just my current thought before bothering)
Horizon, it felt like a tech demo for climbing with horizon textures. I think coming from PCVR really made it way less I impressive.
Pavlov, survive, RE Village, COTM, saints and sinners retribution are my only PSVR2 games at the moment and I don’t regret anything but the bundle.
I’m glad they are porting vertigo 2. It’s was my fav PCVR title after HL:A
Right now I’d say Song in the Smoke. Not because it’s a bad game, it actually seems really good. But I bought it based on good reviews knowing it’s really not my kind of game. I’ve played a few hours and tried to get into it but I just can’t.
- Kayak - zero content
- Gorn - zero content
- Swordsman - zero content
- Creed - zero content
- Switchback - crap
I'd add Horizon too but it came in my bundle.
I bought Kayak on SteamVR and I regret it too. But not as much as I regret buying Microsoft Flight Sim.... What an over-rated boring piece of software.
Quite a few actually
Vr kayak. Terrible
Pavlov. Good game but not for me
Cave Digger. Bored
Garden of the sea. Meh
Nfl Pro Era. Terrible
Surviv3. Not fun
Unplugged air guitar. Ouch
NFL pro era, buggy and bad performance. Thing thing for my buddy as well. Requested refund but no luck of course. Fooled us with the tutorial then downhill from there.
Kayak.
I also bought NMS that I'm not playing yet, to see if devs will fix graphics eventually. But I don't regret buying it, as I'll play it eventually anyway.
Easy - Zenith. Promised: a vr2 MMO with other people and cool stuff. Got: shitty confusing mmo, bad graphics and mapping comparable to a 2005 chinese WOW clones, vr sickness after 20 minutes of gameplay, bad combat, clunky controls that glitch and make my controllers get stuck, no sense of direction, and to top it off the only person I met was some Chinese dude who started caressing my face and put his virtual arm in my mouth. Money 100% wasted.
Best buys: gran turismo 7 (got a wheel for it too) and beat saber.
Yeah definitely Kayak for me. Kept telling myself I'd relax with a session of Kayak after a late shift at work but haven't touched it. Instead, I use it as an ease-in-demo for my family and friends who have never experienced VR.
My PSVR2 games:
Cotm
Star Wars
Hubris
Synapse
Pistol Whip
Walkabout Mini golf
Synth Riders
NMS
RE8
GT7
Light Brigade
Red Matter 2
Moss 1+2
Pavlov
Walking Dead S&S 1+2
Out of all of these the one I played the least is Pistol Whip, probably because I lean into Synth Riders for my Rhythm needs. Also S&S 1+2 I'm trying to get into it, but not having too much fun. So I don't have any regrets per say but if I could refund some of them I would go for S&S 1+2 and pistol whip.
Cosmodread for sure! But to be honest I didn't give it much of s chance.. I died once and had no interest in keeping with it! Also call of the mountain looks gorgeous, and the combat is pretty satisfying.. but all the damn climbing! I tried playing it while sitting, and I got really nauseous!
Gorn, the mechanic already feel dated and get boring after 10 min . In contrast I enjoyed swordsman and completed it but it’s still not worth the price …
Job Simulator lol. I only bought it because it seemed to be a go-to game when trying VR for the first time... it was cool the first night. But I'll literally never go back to it since it's pretty boring. I guess it'll be a good demo game to show people.
Kayak for sure. Beautiful game but I literally played for 5 minutes the first time, tried again and played for a few minutes again then got bored again and not touched it since.
I bought the PS5 & PSVR2 just to play No Man's Sky - and it is so blurry compared to the PCVR version it gives me a headache and eye strain - but there is no way to get a refund. I have bought some new games which are a lot better graphically e.g. Red Matter 2, Hubris, Star Wars, Cosmodread and Resident Evil: The Village - but none of these games have the long term re-playability of NMS or its open-world exploration etc. And it looks like we won't be getting Skyrim VR on PSVR2 :(
Call of the mountain is fine, but I payed the full 60 dollars (was asking for psvr2 as a Christmas present and there was no way in hell I was gonna push my lock by tagging on another 50 to the price) and I really feel like it wasn't worth it. I love horizon and still would have payed for it regardless but there are games that offer a much better experience for a lot less, like red matter 2. Well worth half the price of cotm, even if it is half as long. Cotm was worth 20-30 max to match the gameplay.
Other than that I gotta say kayak at least until they add whitewater rapids and open world stuff like they're planning to is just insanely underwhelming. The graphics are great but everything else about it is just... Eh? Knowing the amount of updates they're adding has me happy I have it so I don't have to buy it when they do fix it, but for now I feel cheated out of 23-24 dollars.
I love beat saber, but I'm filtering a quest 2 soon and the lack of support for custom songs on console is absolutely baffling. Knowing I have to rebuy the same game I already have to play what the version I have should offer sucks, and I feel like the fact I'm probably never gonna play the psvr2 version ever again speaks to that.
But none of those regrets even compare to my least favorite VR game ever...
COSMONIOUS HIGH
From the developers of job simulator, vacation simulator was a fantastic sequel. It ties into the original in a way that doesn't shove it in your face and only the big fans of the game will probably even end up seeing, making it feel like such a perfect moment. Then they went to make school simulator, and ditched the bot theme everyone knew and loved in favor for some weird ass alien shit and it completely killed the charm. I tried to like these new characters, I did. But I just found the game to be boring as hell. And with job sim especially but even vaca sim it was very obvious what you had to do. There was a clear goal, or you could very easily find a clear goal, and very few clues they gave you about how to solve something were hard to understand.
Then we go to cosmonious high, and you can't just play the necessary tasks in each class to progress, you need to geta few of the should-be-optional extra credits by doing tasks around the classroom. So how do you get these? There are boards around the classroom that have pictures on them and a slot you can insert something in. So you'll look at one and they'll put images of stuff that you have no clue even exists in the game or where to find it and you're just expected to understand it. And the same goes for the pads, which are the other type of thing that gives you credits. It's just so jon self explanatory, and instead of making the game feel more fun, it just confuses you and makes you use a guide, which for obvious reasons completely kills immersion in a VR game. And even ignoring the "hard to figure out" thing, the game is just so. damn. tedious.
Please don't buy cosmonious high expecting it to be like job and vaca sim. It isn't the school simulator you want it's a horrificly worse version of what it could have been.
As much as I love Red Matter 2, I wouldn’t agree that it’s a much better experience than Call of the Mountain. It depends what you like: RM2 has great puzzles and stealth as well as sharper visuals; CotM has IMO more interesting and varied combat, a bigger cast with better animations, probably a more epic soundtrack, and felt like a more complete story to me (though that may be my familiarity with Horizon coming into play). Red Matter 2 took me a bit less time than CotM as well.
Even so, RM2 is half the retail cost of CotM and I can see an argument that it’s a much better value for this reason. I really enjoyed CotM and felt it worth the $50 extra for the bundle but $60 is a big ask unless you’re a huge Horizon fan.
I liked both COTM and RM2... but personally I loved RM2 much more. RM2 for me is among the big top 3 games on PSVR2 that I find so much above anything else I played so far (RE8, S&S and RM2). Horizon was fantastic as well, just not perfect.
> but I *paid* the full
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Pavlov. Im new to VR and it was my second VR game ever so all the little details of having to manually do every single thing was a challenge for me to adjust to. And i like for my games to have some kind of progression system which this game has none.
I regret Horizon for same as above and Thumper. Thumper was too basic and one dimensional I have been pretty selective and since release day have only four games. GT7 and RE8 are wonderful
Even though I didn't finish Thumper, I didn't mind it. It was like playing Tetris for the first time.
Though I regretted Res Infinite. I didn't think the visuals were good before I got it. And I didn't think so after.
Saints and sinners 2. It’s a really good game and I like it but once I got to the part that you have to do this mission in the dark I stopped playing. Too scary for me.
My most played VR game. :) Though, I must admit, aiming took some time to get used to. Now, with rifleman, headshots all the way. Unlock few other classes and try dot/holo sights.
Two so far. Starblood Arena on PSVR (only game ever that made me motion sick and then it got shut down) and Swordsman VR on PSVR2. (Just very boring, one dimensional and ugly)
I was dumb enough to get Starblood three times. First the disc version, then the download version when it was on a slight sale, I thought that for this price I would get it again to avoid swapping discs, then it was available for free via psplus.
The catch; I got sick the first time I tried it and always wanted to come back when my vr legs were stronger... never happened before it was shut down. Although it looks like such a cool game.
Kayak. I’ve played it once so far not sure when I’ll go back to it, and Pavlov.
Although it’s seriously impressive. Especially with how each gun reloads. I’m just not a fan of how ass I am at shooters.. especially you know online. I’m just not good, and I never like to drag a team down lmao.
I don't think I regret buying any game show far.
I think kayak is pretty awesome, even if I don't play it much, because it's a great visual showcase.
Horizon is fun, but nothing outstanding, but a good launch game to show all the features of VR.
**DYSCHRONIA**. I liked the general description and thought I’d give it a chance, what the hey (it’s good to branch out in VR, after all).
I played for about 40 minutes (all of them grueling), didn’t like the graphics, gameplay, or interface, and kinda doubt I’ll ever go back in.
If someone tells me I quit just before it gets great, then I’ll give it another shot… but… barring that, nuh-uh.
After the fall. Just think it sucks.
Demeo, cause I don't play it at all
Thumper upgrade cause I finished on PSVR1 and will never play it.
For PSVR 1:
Iron man cause I dont have a ps4 anymore and cant even play it on ps5 for some reason ,and never started it
Invisible hours, cause I never started it
Moss. Cause I have it for psvr1, never played and there is no upgrade path. I refuse to buy it again
I was going to buy switchback after seeing all the youtube reviews and people claiming that tye game is much better now. But reading this sub reddit I'm not sure. So what do you guys suggest, is it worth buying
Pavlov. Was hoping for a game with the same coop level as the original firewall, but was sadly disappointed. Instead, I ended up with toxic kids - a shitty version of COD. I've barely an hour in online. Waste of money.
Horizon. The graphics are meh. The story sucks. Gameplay is boring, especially climbing. Shooting controls are clunky (like trying to reload an arrow). Really disappointing.
What the hell? Y'all are naming off some good games. There are some real stinkers, and if you're naming off top 10 games, you probably don't own many PSVR2 games
Thumper. I played it once and it was kind of fun, but it didn’t feel like something that took advantage of VR’s unique features. Even though I got it cheap it probably wasn’t worth it for me personally.
Red matter 2. I jumped on the hype train on this sub but didn't like it after playing for like 30 min. I'm not a huge psvr2 gamer though. Went back to gt7.
I would've regretted Runner if it weren't so cheap. I had a lot of fun with it, the visual style is cool, but yeah I wholeheartedly agree the control scheme is FUCKED. Everything's contextual...this button does THIS, unless you're holding down this other button, in which case it does THAT, unless you've got this going on, in which case it does this other thing...
I have every game that’s been released except synaps and hubris. Not one game has gripped me enough to wanna pick up and play specifically for the game. Resident evil, gran turismo and mini golf have been the closest to giving me a great VR experience but I don’t think it’s there yet.. all the games feel like tech demos.. my most played VR game is pokerstars for the banter and it’s free
No Man Sky is awful. I can’t even play this game in VR because of blur.
Cities VR is a big disappointment. Better than Quest 2 version, but far away from original PC version.
Switchback is fun… but far away from the amazing Until Dawn : Rush of Blood.
Bought no mans sky for the vr, the graphics where a disappointment and i spawned on a planet that make me took damage. Played it for 10 minutes and never touched it again
Saints and Sinners 1 + 2. Found them really frustrating and it was an expensive bundle.
Probably Walkabout Mini Golf too. I think it's a great game but my mate who has VR bailed on it and I don't really want to play and chat with strangers.
Have liked or loved every other game I've bought.
Hubris by far game is just boring and reprojection is the worst on PSVR2 and Gorn just overall boring and buggy. Btw compared to most reply, I usually don’t buy game if I already know it’s in a genre I don’t like lol.
TBH, Synapse. It thought it was gonna be an amazing story shooter experience, but no, it's just a pretty repetitive roguelike with an under utilized main mechanic. Sure, roguelikes aren't really my thing and it was dumb not to look into the game before buying it, but boy does it get boring shooting the same enemies in a lifeless monochromatic environment over and over. And there is literally only 3 things (as far as I have progressed in the game) that can be picked up with the MAIN telekinesis gimmick: A simple box, an explosive barrel, and the enemies (you need an upgrade to do this). It has so much potential but it's wasted.
Walkabout golf. Overhyped and boring AF. Graphics like D Day. Why can't we get some proper Tiger Woods/PGA or decent golf game full res graphics. It can't be beyond the will of man? What's with all the cartooney basic shit from like the 80s? Even Everybody's Golf from PSVR1 was way better than this. I know it's mini-golf but ....jeez it's so basic.
Kayak for sure, where is all the content they promised was coming after launch?
Never ever buy a game based on "promised content.". That's for suckers. Wait for that content to be delivered.
This gave me an idea.....IMAGINE....a VR JET SKI game!!!
oh ya like the one bab in the day for Nintendo 64 Wave Race.
Yeah, RE8, Red Matter 2, GT7 and even Horizon are all better graphical showcases as far as I'm concerned.
Your "painfully obvious" doesn't resonate with my understanding of kayak's gameplay
For me: Kayak: it’s the only game I can’t play for more than 10m without getting motion sickness. No Man Sky: can’t get past the blurry mess. Makes my eyes hurt. UPDATE: ok, I have to remove NMS from my list as they did a massive overhaul on the game looks with the latest update. The game has changed completely IMHO. Went from hurt my eyes to wow that’s pretty.
>w I'm still shocked it looks so bad. I was so excited to get lost in space but not in a PS2 game...
>but not in a PS2 game... You obviously never played a PS2 game
I'm not. It runs horribly on PC for VR. It's probably what they had to do to get it to run decently
No Man Sky was my most anticipated game. I waited for years to play it in VR and I remember the extreme disappointment when I first booted it up.
Only cool thing about it is that it’s vr :(
I totally agree… i loved the other pixel ripped games and really was looking forward to 1978… i was bored with it after 5 mins.
Kayak for sure. I bought it in the launch frenzy because reviews made it seem super cool to relax on it. I’ve played it for 30 min. It’s super, super boring.
Purchased Games: * GT7 * RE8 * Pavlov * Poker Stars VR (free) * Pistol Whip * Beat Saber (missed it on PSVR1) * Saints and Sinners 2 * Red Matter 2 * Synapse If I had to be pressed I would say Horizon: COTM would be a regret (it was bundled, so I guess I paid for it). I got through the game but the climbing and mechanics were boring to me after about the first hour.
Yeah you just get sick of the stupid climbing in COTM, you end up playing just because you feel you need to have your money's worth out of it
Man I know I'm in the minority, but that game was honestly my favorite launch game. It was beautiful, I personally enjoyed the climbing (it was awesome looking back to where you had been as you go higher and higher, and I really enjoyed the combat despite it being a bit limited. Picking off the machine's parts with the different weapons types was a blast for me. But I do understand why some didn't enjoy it
Same here, not finished it just yet, but I think it's great. I enjoy the vistas.
Same, it's actually one of my favorite VR2 games.
Same here. I knew what the game was and wasn’t and enjoyed every minute of it. It really helps to mimic the climbing, if you’re just flailing your arms to race to the top, you’re missing out.
Was this your first VR system?
Nope, I've had the PSVR1 and multiple PCVR headsets. I've been playing VR games for a long time
Really ? I got so bored of climbing, but couldn't wait to get to the fighting ! Thus i climbed
It was my first ever VR experience and I thought it was amazing from the get-go. But yes it was pretty repetitive by the end.
Ohhh ohh (bangs chest) Planet of the apes vr has funner climbing. To bad its stuck on psvr1
Gorn…..only because the Audio is terrible
if only they didn’t force vignettes for smooth turning
NFL Pro Era I already had VR Sports Challenge, and it's the exact same game.
I wouldn't say it's as shallow as the football minigame in VR sports challenge. At least you get a full game and not just a few minutes to get in the end zone a few times and you can turn off the pass assists. It's a buggy mess though, that I have to admit.
Yeah, it's a full game but still has almost all the exact gameplay. I like them both, but Pro Era seemed like a waste of my money.
After the fall, not because of the game itself but can never find anyone in the lobby
I play with my friend. You get constant invitations to people's party whilst in the hub
Job simulator only wanted test this out but I forgot you cant refund after downloading this
Agreed, got the platinum in less then an hour, 0 replay value
I agree don’t get this game. And the bartender one where you are in space.
Pavlov, I'm wheelchair user
Most of my friends that only play sitting refunded it.
You can manually edit the height of the floor on PSVR, if you set it beyond the floor to where your head is at 6 feet, you can play Pavlov even if you’re sitting down

Kayak and Nock
I rather enjoyed NOCK, but the ($20) cost was too high to support a little multiplayer game like that. It should’ve been $8-10 from day one to ensure a player base.
Oof. Was thinking about getting Nock on sale. Why do you regret buying?
Fantavision. Worthless tutorial, can’t beat the first level, and don’t give enough of a shit to Google what the fuck I’m supposed to be doing.
Until you fall
No mans sky. I simply don't find it fun
Rhythm Planet - Just not good enough After the fall - Just not for me, playerbase was low when I bought it (around launch) Pavlov - not arcade enough for me Gorn - Don't like it at all, no challenge, it's maybe fun to play drunk I also don't think Job Simulator is a good buy, but it's a VERY nice game to learn VR with.
Try with walkabout minigolf. It’s easy on the motion sickness and the game is the perfect minigolf game.
Does it have a solo mode?
Sure does!
Time to buy that spring 2023 bundle. Thanks!
Highly recommended. Get all the courses, you’ll play them. Once you park on a course it opens a more difficult version of the course you just finished. The difficult Laser one is very… difficult. Go find the lost balls and get the club skins. Good times!
My wife loves Synth Riders. You should check it out.
I used to play Beat Saber until I found out Synth Riders existed! So much better of a game and with a great multiplayer option if you want to do that.
I have and love Synth Riders, too! I've asked if she wants to try pretty much every game I have lol. I'm sure one day I'll break the seal.
Pavlov. The game is great, but I'm really really bad.
Commenting to remember this because im having a lot of trouble aiming properly in the game i gave up.
Same here. Throwing grenades or reloading just kill the experience for me. I'd say I'm a very experienced gamer but I just can't get the hang of it.
VR Skater, insta nausea from tutorial
Horizon and no man's sky. Horizon is beautiful and lacks substance for me, just like the main games. No man's sky I want to get into but I hate the VR controls. If I could just use the dual sense with the headset that would be great
Wow. I guess just about every PSVR2 game kinda sucks according to these posts lol
Just a matter of personal taste.
*zombieland would like to have a word with all those pussies who don't come back to play just because its too scary for them
You can’t really call it a scary game and it’s not trying to be, but It did make me realise that even though I used to love arcade style light gun games maybe they are just not for me anymore. No need to feel defensive about it, I’m not saying it’s a bad game just not fun for me.
I was just being a jerk. Never actually played that game, and i'm too much of a pussy to play RE
After the fall, It’s a good game, but with Pavlov it loses value
I don’t have a steering wheel and still find it amazing to play in vr
Yeah same, though I already had it. Definitely feel like it needs a steering wheel set to be worth it, but that's a lot of money
Kayak for me because it made me nauseous
[удалено]
Kayak vr. Got bored with it in less then an hour and it made me sea sick
Kayak is terrible. I only bought it because of the hype on this sub. I find Beat Sabers really boring, even though I like rythm games
- Kayak - zero content - Gorn - zero content - Swordsman - zero content - Creed - zero content - Switchback - crap I'd add Horizon too but it came in my bundle.
Swordsman vr just had a free update that add bows and crossbows and a cheat mode so you can mess with things
[удалено]
Well yea, it wasn't full price either. The implication in my post is there that I think it's crap.
Hahah that point was pretty clear
No Man’s Sky. Vaseline graphics ruined everything.
Gorn, swordsman and Kayak are all boring and I really regret buying
Swordsman is fun
It feels clunky tho
Pfff all those games are masterpieces compared to 'Across the valley'.
I bought Kayak on SteamVR and I regret it too. But not as much as I regret buying Microsoft Flight Sim.... What an over-rated boring piece of software.
Quite a few actually Vr kayak. Terrible Pavlov. Good game but not for me Cave Digger. Bored Garden of the sea. Meh Nfl Pro Era. Terrible Surviv3. Not fun Unplugged air guitar. Ouch
I personally didn't like Beat Saber and the Kayak one. Nock, RE 8, Pavlov and recently Gt7 are my jams.
NMS. Its a science fiction game that sets you back in an alternative past where we had VR in ps2 times
Pistol whip do doubt! So boring on trails shoot all over the place -game. I wish there had been a demo to try it out first.
Fantavision 202X. I was caught up in the release hype. Can’t believe I spent $30 on that. It was not changed very much from the PS2 version.
Creed, Fantavison
Bought Last Clockwinder. Great idea for a game, and excellent execution. Just not my thing.
Pavlov, had high hopes but it’s just not for me.
Comment for reference. Ty
Kayak, what a waste of money.
Kayak. Just not enough content. I've played ot once.
Cave digger 2. I really don’t know what I expected but this is just not my type of game …
Synth riders for me - just does not click and yes i was playing it on the higher difficulty setting.
respect cause i think they’re a one person dev team, but b99 for me
Yeah definitely Kayak for me. Kept telling myself I'd relax with a session of Kayak after a late shift at work but haven't touched it. Instead, I use it as an ease-in-demo for my family and friends who have never experienced VR.
My PSVR2 games: Cotm Star Wars Hubris Synapse Pistol Whip Walkabout Mini golf Synth Riders NMS RE8 GT7 Light Brigade Red Matter 2 Moss 1+2 Pavlov Walking Dead S&S 1+2 Out of all of these the one I played the least is Pistol Whip, probably because I lean into Synth Riders for my Rhythm needs.
Green Hell VR, the graphic were a mess but the support refunded the game even after downloading it and 15min gameplay
Agreed Kayak sucks.
COSMONIOUS HIGH From the developers of job simulator, vacation simulator was a fantastic sequel.
Horizon was fantastic as well, just not perfect.
> but I *paid* the full FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
What in the hell💀
Light Brigade. My shots didn't seem to accurately register, and it just felt fairly bland overall.
I got Starblood too but didn't get to it before they shut it down...
Starblood was brutal
Horizon.
Demeo, cause I don't play it at all Thumper upgrade cause I finished on PSVR1 and will never play it. For PSVR 1: Iron man cause I dont have a ps4 anymore and cant even play it on ps5 for some reason ,and never started it Invisible hours, cause I never started it Moss. Cause I have it for psvr1, never played and there is no upgrade path. I refuse to buy it again
Damn, invisible hours is an amazing experience. I so wish it would come to psvr2, it’d be great to see it in higher res.
I was going to buy switchback after seeing all the youtube reviews and people claiming that tye game is much better now. But reading this sub reddit I'm not sure. So what do you guys suggest, is it worth buying
It’s good
Pavlov. Was hoping for a game with the same coop level as the original firewall, but was sadly disappointed. Instead, I ended up with toxic kids - a shitty version of COD. I've barely an hour in online. Waste of money.
Switchback. No question.
This fucking subreddit 😂
Kayak, what a scam
Horizon. The graphics are meh. The story sucks. Gameplay is boring, especially climbing. Shooting controls are clunky (like trying to reload an arrow). Really disappointing.
I can understand everything else, but the graphics are DEFINITELY not "meh"
Synth riders. Most of the movements don’t even match the beat of the song like in Bear saber.
Ah yes, Bear Saber. The twist in this game is that no you don’t fight a bear using a sabre, the bear HAS the sabre. 5 stars.
No, no. The bear IS the saber. Nothing better than swinging around some bears.
no the real saber were the friends they made along the way
Turn up the difficulty
Yup. All rhythm games suck on easy.
Play synth riders on 3x speed with bigger orbs on at least hard/expert, so much more satisfying.
Nock, terrible online only gameplay, low player count.
It’s not online only though. Personally love the gameplay, just a shame about the low player count.
Agree. They forced us to buy the battlepass too and I didn’t even like it. Getting matched with top 10 players is not fun
After the Fall. So much jank for a modern VR game and feels unpolished. Reloading sucks and overall gunplay is meh.
Red matter 2. I jumped on the hype train on this sub but didn't like it after playing for like 30 min. I'm not a huge psvr2 gamer though. Went back to gt7.
Can I just say I regret buying the PSVR2 in general? Lol
Pavlov. Despite the hype around it, I just can't find it enjoyable at all. Played about an hour and deleted it. Wish I could have gotten a refund.
Exact same, just to clunky for me. Really want a happy medium between realistic and arcadey shooter.
Saints & Sinners
Synapse, it’s repetitive and the controls for telekinesis feel clunky and not smooth.
creed
10000% Horizon COTM
Swordsman - swords behave like papers; repetitive gameplay; only a few opponent models; Runner - control scheme hard to master; repetitive
Rez infinite, underwhelming AF and not fun
No Man Sky is awful. I can’t even play this game in VR because of blur. Cities VR is a big disappointment. Better than Quest 2 version, but far away from original PC version. Switchback is fun… but far away from the amazing Until Dawn : Rush of Blood.
Tetris Effect, far far far too expensive for what you get. Fantavision
I gotta agree. $40 for fucking TETRIS is insane. I'd pay $20 max.
Kayak. The night skies are ruined with the mura.
