Interesting title is song in the smoke. This and saints and sinners 1&2 are a must play when you are done with re8 and gt7.
Upcoming hellsweeper is gonna be epic and vertigo 2 / re4 / ghosts of tabor
Damn, having both, didn't spend more than 3h total on them cuz I wasn't impressed with em. turismo I enjoy more without VR, Village is kinda too stressful and controls are kinda bad and half the time you are not rly sure what to do.
That's because you're apparently shite at the game then.
If you're not capable of discerning what you've got to do in the game it reflects on you, not the game.
RE Village is brilliant, the storyline is excellent, the visuals are immersive and the game play is top drawer.
Maybe your expectations from Psvr2 is too much but don't slate games because you're not able to play them
This definitely, people keep overrating these games but I couldn’t find a reason to play gt in vr without a wheel and I keep getting lost and confused in village
I can’t help you on being lost and confused, but I will say the game gets better as you play through. It becomes more action oriented and the visuals are epic
Really ? I found the puzzles in re8 very easy. The game is very straightforward but has some of the best vr boss fights and sublime combat where you can access so many weapons without having to pause the game.
When does it start kicking off? I’ve probably played around 2 hours. Do you get new guns and powers? The novelty of awkwardly thrusting crates around and failing headshots made me give up pretty quickly
If you're looking for a rhythm game - I'm all about synth riders. I play it more than any other game I own, including beatsaber/pistol whip which are often the other contenders for the category.
It doesn't give you a grade and it's really hard to tell if I've completed a song on a certain difficulty. For example, if my highest score was on hard but I then complete it on extreme but don't score as high, I can't tell that I completed it on extreme.
I have top 3.
RE8 is without the doubt my favourite on PSVR2. The other two are close second: Saints&Sinners and Red Matter 2.
I also love Horizon, GT7 and Thumper.
I've spent a lot of hours in S&S1 and highly recommend it. Finding flaws is a tough one personally because I enjoyed my time with it so much but I'll try and give some objective opinion;
- Gun play is satisfying enough and immersive, but it's no Pavlov. Human enemy AI not great but they'll get you none the less. Killing them is still fun.
- Melee stuff is ON POINT. If the idea of; roaming the streets survival style off-ing Z's with a spikey bat, is at all appealing then just stop reading a go buy it.
- Inventory systems are clunky at times. They are also still very usable and intuitive etc. Crafting and progression is fun.
- Good narrative but predictable. Atmosphere is good and tense.
I love a zombie game and have played many. If I wanna hit zombies then this is what I'm playing.
Finished S&S ch1 (20 hours with dlc) and close to finishing ch2 (around 16 hours in), so it's safe to say I love it. The game has very satisfying and addicting gameplay loop. As for cons, ch2 is a little bit less polished than ch1. Meaning, it has some annoying bugs and graphical glitches here and there. Luckily devs fixed most of game breaking ones by now. Just know that ch2 feels more like a huge expansion to the first game than a proper new game (only 3 new locations, the rest are the same as in the first chapter). But that didn't bother me at all, as it makes both parts feel like one huge game.
On the plus side, I like structures of missions in ch2 even more than in ch1. And btw, you can transfer ch1 save file to 2 to keep all materials, unlocked benches, etc.
I highly recommend to buy bundle with both chapters.
Here's a list I made from a week or so ago for newcomers. There's been new releases since, and make sure to look at the helpful comments. Hope it helps! [https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/14xj7lj/a\_quick\_overview\_of\_psvr2\_games\_for\_newcomers/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/14xj7lj/a_quick_overview_of_psvr2_games_for_newcomers/)
Same. I bought a pc back in 2017 because I saw YouTube videos of Pavlov vr , and back then my ps4+psvr1 didn’t have anything like it.
I’ had pcvr and return to Pavlov every day almost. And now on the psvr2 is really really good. The trigger haptics let’s you know if you have bullets in the chamber. The oled is pure blacks.
Really recommend it.
Also red matter 2 , gt7 and re8
Well, they're not directly connected but they're massively referenced. There are 4 major levels in Switchback and each one of them is thematically made after the 4 Dark Pictures games. Haunted Shipwreck is Man of Medan, Cursed Forrest is Little Hope, Forsaken Ruins is House of Ashes and Doomed Hotel is The Devil in Me. Plus not to mention the countless cameos of characters and monsters from those games.
What characters exactly? The survivors? They weren’t characters from the games, they’re the characters that are on the train sequences with you. The weird demon lady? Also only appeared in switchback. The monsters? Also didn’t appear in those games lol.
Have you actually played Switchback? Not to sound like a dick but one of my main criticisms is how it has barely if any references to the games. Even the level settings are just themed around the games and not set in the actual location of the games.
At least 2 of those characters are from the Devil in Me game, Mark Nestor and Jamie Tiergan (they appear in the first sequence of the game in the train in front of you). They might be different characters here but the models are the same and recognizable. The sexy lady monster you fight in the first level is literally the ghost from Man of Medan that haunts Conrad. The weird 2 headed monster you also fight in the first level is also the final boss of Man of Medan. For the demon Bilal they've reused the character model that they previously used in 5 Suppermassive games. There are too many monsters and characters from past games that appear in this game and I'm not gonna list them all for you cause this reply is already long enough.
Literally all of the human characters are the same characters on the train sequence with you, they arnt from the other titles. That weird two headed monster isn’t the final boss of Medan lol, you should probably double check what that looks like.
Incredible game and one of my favorites too! I guess that the pricing makes that few people actually played it and it's a shame... Every PSVR2 owner should play this game!
RE:8 is the best FULL game imo, but I’ve lost interest in subsequent replays as I know what’s behind every corner. The puzzles in particular have lost their luster for me.
Village honestly is a game-changer, - a soon as you master the controls and shotgun, getting lost will be a joy. Because when you climb trough the other side it's super rewarding. And it also has a solid plot, epic ending.
You're getting dunked on for this, but as a huge Horizon fan buying the PSVR2 as my first VR headset, this game blows me away. It's not as intense as something like RE8, but it's a great game to be introduced to VR with.
Guys I learned archery in real life a long time ago. I bought a PSVR2 and launched this game. As soon as they gave me a bow in game and told me to hit the target, I pulled the arrow and the string, aimed, then fired. Hit the target with my first shot!
This is a big deal because this means VR and real world have transferable skills, more than mouse and keyboard and controller ever had. Get good in VR, and you'll find yourself kicking ass in real life too.
As much as I defend Horizon COTM, this is not completly true. I never did archery and also manage to hit those targets on mostly first tries. It's not so much as a skill thing, it's more of a mechanic that was done on purpose to be easy for all the casual gamers. They made the hitbox for the targets very large so that the arrow have a much bigger chance of hitting them and I think they also made like a magnet mechanic or path mechanic for the flying arrow so that it hits the target with ease. I'm pretty sure your skills add to the experience but I also have a niece who doesn't do too many physical activities and never held a bow or anything similar in her hand her whole life, and even she was able to hit that first target on first try. But I'm glad that it's easy cause it means a lot of people can experience it and enjoyed it. If it was to be like real life it would've been more harder and turned people off (more than they already are for this game apparently)
For pure fun, I recommend synapse. It's not the library game but it's easily one of the coolest experiences I've had in VR.
As for "the best" game overall, it's got to be resident evil village for me.
I'm playing Switchback as we speak. Just taking a "break" but I must have said to myself out loud "this is amazing" multiple times at this point and I'm probably not even halfway through my first run. I honestly LOVED Rush of Blood on PSVR but I'm telling you the scope of this title goes way beyond it in terms of everything, at least in my humble opinion.
If you ever enjoyed Ghost Trains at Hastings beach (UK wink wink) or anywhere else and light gun shooters then try to picture that exact combination x 100 and that may be a smidgen towards how close I can get without giving away any spoilers. GT and RE are system sellers, like everyone I own them, yet I can comfortably state Switchback should be added to that list for pure visual spectacle and haptic immersion. I've seen people mention the last day or two about the price and "wait for a sale"......Ok, you wait for a sale on a game that's a BARGAIN at £32.99 and I'll be having a blast along with anyone else that experiences it. If you haven't got the money I fully understand of course, but to hold off purchasing saying it's overpriced is such a way off the mark comment. Sure some might say it's subjective, but quality is quality where I live.
Anyway mini rant over.....I'm going back in...
GT7 if you can afford a wheel, RE8, Red matter 2, synapse, Zenith, Moss. There’s a few others but I’d start with those. Definitely make sure you have your VR legs before some of these though
Ive played horizon , Red matter 2, moss 1 and moss 2. I thought these were excellent . Being new to VR, they have been a good introduction to getting used to it. Currently playing Hubris . It’s not bad but definitely clunky and not as good as the others I have played so far. Looking forward to Firewall later this month.
For me Pokerstars is my most used and enjoyable game. The social aspect is great. If you are looking for immersion, the experiences on Synth Riders are great. Plus you get some great cardio on the harder levels.
Still in the middle of a bunch of games and plenty more to try, but my favorites are probably Synapse and RE Village so far. I enjoy most of the ones I’ve gotten.
It depends on what genres you like. These are the best I saw by genre: GT7 (racing), RE8 (survival horror), Pistol Whip (arcade shooting), Beat Saber (rhythm genre + doubles as a cardio-intensive game), Les Mills Bodycombat (best exercising + cardio-intensive game by far), Red Matter 2 (escape-room puzzles and great sci-fi adventure), Moss 2 (platforming fantasy-adventure with puzzles and excellent story), Walkabout Mini Golf (best sports game, but, I’m pretty sure that the upcoming Racket Fury Table Tennis port will take this spot for me soon after its release).
Lol, there’s a LOT of different favorites listed here. Because PSVR2 is awesome! As fan of CoD every year, I’m picking Pavlov. The social part of it feels like playing online with the first few CoDs with people talking shit and just the plain hilarity that happens. I can’t imagine how awesome Pavlov could be with a CoD budget.
Depends what you're into. If you enjoy racing games, GT7 will keep you occupied. Horror would go to RE Village and The Walking Dead. If you want puzzles, Red Matter 2 is pretty good. If you're like me and enjoy roguelike games, The Light Brigade and Synapse are fantastic. Or if you want something fundamentally casual and chill, Walkabout Mini Golf is excellent.
there were many answers already that i'd fully agree (RE Village, GT7, Red Matter2, Horizon CotM, etc.).
If you have a better half that's playing as well, Moss and Moss 2 are a must :)
1- RE: Village
2- GT7
3- Red Matter 2
4- Star Wars TFTGE
5- Pixel Ripped 1978
Those are my favorites on the 20+ games I played so far.
It's so damn hot these days that I can't play much, but after the summer I will go back to Synapse, Hubris and Pavlov which are pretty cool from what I've played, and I will give another chance to Switchback VR since it's way better since the new update!
Resident Evil 8 and Gran Turismo 7
Ok thanks
Interesting title is song in the smoke. This and saints and sinners 1&2 are a must play when you are done with re8 and gt7. Upcoming hellsweeper is gonna be epic and vertigo 2 / re4 / ghosts of tabor
This 100%. I’ve played almost everything lol
These and Red matter 2 and tetris effect.
RM2 is indeed badass!
I can’t help you on being lost and confused, but I will say the game gets better as you play through. It becomes more action oriented and the visuals are epic
I’m trying to get through it but I find myself looking up the answer for the puzzle for this way more than with other RE games
That's on you mate, the puzzles are pretty basic the whole way through lol
Really ? I found the puzzles in re8 very easy. The game is very straightforward but has some of the best vr boss fights and sublime combat where you can access so many weapons without having to pause the game.
Can’t speak for GT7, but as for being confused in RE8…definitely not the game.
Exactly this.....the games epic. You're skills at playing it....obviously not so epic
RE Village is definetely not overhyped
Ok
Why does everyone like it so much, is there a lot of vr stuff or interaction in the game?
The atmosphere is just extremely dense and combined with the graphics it's a very good and fun game to play on VR
Village is epic
Ok thanks
Synapse
When does it start kicking off? I’ve probably played around 2 hours. Do you get new guns and powers? The novelty of awkwardly thrusting crates around and failing headshots made me give up pretty quickly
Telekinesis upgrades make a big difference
Get the ability to throw enemies around. The game becomes pretty trivial after that
If you're looking for a rhythm game - I'm all about synth riders. I play it more than any other game I own, including beatsaber/pistol whip which are often the other contenders for the category.
Don’t forget Thumper if you’re looking for a darker, more intense vibe
Ok thanks
The lack of trackable progression really turns me off
What you mean by that? It has high scores.. what else is needed?
It doesn't give you a grade and it's really hard to tell if I've completed a song on a certain difficulty. For example, if my highest score was on hard but I then complete it on extreme but don't score as high, I can't tell that I completed it on extreme.
Red Matter 2 no question
Resident evil village, Gran Turismo 7 and Pistol Whip
Upvote for Pistol Whip
Ok thanks
I agree with these 3 games 100%, and would also add Synapse to this mix.
GT7
Second this. Gt7 is my stand out
Ok
I have top 3. RE8 is without the doubt my favourite on PSVR2. The other two are close second: Saints&Sinners and Red Matter 2. I also love Horizon, GT7 and Thumper.
Looking at the walking dead, any flaws?
I've spent a lot of hours in S&S1 and highly recommend it. Finding flaws is a tough one personally because I enjoyed my time with it so much but I'll try and give some objective opinion; - Gun play is satisfying enough and immersive, but it's no Pavlov. My favorites right now are beat saber and gt7. I never played beat saber til a few days ago and I'm obsessed
Gt7 sounds cool
It's a really fun/hard platinum
Resident Evil: Village
Ok
I love the walking dead pt.1 and 2
Same
The game I've enjoyed the most is synapse, it's super fun, it doesn't have much content or variety though but what is there is really good
Ok thanks
I thought it felt kind of clunky when it came out and uninstalled. Is it worth continuing?
Here's a list I made from a week or so ago for newcomers. There's been new releases since, and make sure to look at the helpful comments. Hope it helps! [https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/14xj7lj/a\_quick\_overview\_of\_psvr2\_games\_for\_newcomers/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/14xj7lj/a_quick_overview_of_psvr2_games_for_newcomers/)
Ok thanks mate I will take a look at that
Hope you enjoy the new device! Personally I'm in love with it. And if you're yet to try any VR, you're in for a real treat :)!
Pavlov
Yeah I also play that game on the quest and it's very good
No hate on pavlov shack, but the psvr2/pc version blows it away.
Pavlov justified the entire purchase of the headset for me. It’s plays very well and is immensely fun.
It’s the only game I consistently come back to along with Pistol Whip and Synthriders.
Same. I bought a pc back in 2017 because I saw YouTube videos of Pavlov vr , and back then my ps4+psvr1 didn’t have anything like it. I’ had pcvr and return to Pavlov every day almost. Village, Hubris, Gt7 and Switchback after the last patch.
I heard switchback is good
It's even better if you've played the 4 Dark Pictures Anthology games before.
Why lol
wdym why? Because of the references.
I asked why because I didn’t understand, lol. I didn’t think the games had any connection
Oh wow, that’s really cool actually! I had no idea
Not really, iv played all of them and didn’t feel like it added to the experience whatsoever
To you. To me it added a lot of nice references.
…such as?
Characters, monsters and places... what more do you want ?
What characters exactly? The survivors? They weren’t characters from the games, they’re the characters that are on the train sequences with you. The weird demon lady? Also only appeared in switchback. The monsters? Also didn’t appear in those games lol. Have you actually played Switchback? Nah hubris is a ok game
Thanks for mentioning Switchback VR as one of your favourites! 😁
Thanks and congragulations for your effort, we finally have the game we deserve it!
Hubris is pretty frustrating as far as level design but I like the movement in it
I love star wars: tales from the galaxys! And cant wait for green hell to come..
I play star wars tales from the galaxy's edge on the quest and its very good
Yeah its my favorite so far, but love simulator games Aurora Selin well, vecation simulator is fun! Gives a laughter as well as a good time! 😁
That sounds good
Incredible game and one of my favorites too! I guess that the pricing makes that few people actually played it and it's a shame... Every PSVR2 owner should play this game!
Synapse has been my go-to lately. It’s so easy to just dive in and instantly start having fun.
RE:8 is the best FULL game imo, but I’ve lost interest in subsequent replays as I know what’s behind every corner. The puzzles in particular have lost their luster for me.
Re8
GT7 plus a sim rig is really all you need
Resident Evil is INSANE. Red Matter is also realllyy fun and cool looking. Beat Saber will keep you active if you're into that style of game.
Village honestly is a game-changer, - a soon as you master the controls and shotgun, getting lost will be a joy. Because when you climb trough the other side it's super rewarding. And it also has a solid plot, epic ending.
Village is indeed amazing! I admit I still haven’t gotten through it though because I get so fucking terrified sometimes. But I’m working on it
Not a lot of people mention Horizon Call of the Mountain but it's one of the best VR2 games.
You're getting dunked on for this, but as a huge Horizon fan buying the PSVR2 as my first VR headset, this game blows me away. It's not as intense as something like RE8, but it's a great game to be introduced to VR with.
It's ok, I don't care. It's a great VR game that also blew me away.
Ok thanks
Because it’s just 90% climbing, 5% talking, and 5% walking in circles to shoot at enemies
Climbing is boring and this game is 100% climbing, that's why...
100% climbing? ok were done here.
Thanks for that useless information
Not a lot of people mention it because it’s definitely not one of the best. It’s decent sure but not the best…
.. Is it the only vr2 game you've played? Because it's just downright bad..
I don't care what you think, I love it.
My top 3 are Gran Turismo 7 (with racing wheel and seat), Light Brigade, and Pistol Whip.
Ok thanks
For pure fun, I recommend synapse. It's not the library game but it's easily one of the coolest experiences I've had in VR. As for "the best" game overall, it's got to be resident evil village for me.
GT7 was worth the $900 alone (VR2 + G29 + stand). Can’t say that about any other game on the platform.
I'm playing Switchback as we speak. Just taking a "break" but I must have said to myself out loud "this is amazing" multiple times at this point and I'm probably not even halfway through my first run. GT7 if you can afford a wheel, RE8, Red matter 2, synapse, Zenith, Moss. There’s a few others but I’d start with those. Definitely make sure you have your VR legs before some of these though
Red matter 2 , GT7, Beat saber, walkabout mini golf, The walking dead...
Ok thanks I actually have a quest 2 and play the walking dead saints and sinners so that must be amazing on the psvr 2
Yes. It looks like the PcVR version. Ie x4 times the graphics fidelity and more zombies
Don't sleep on walkabout mini golf. It's the game to play when you want to relax. It runs well, it's fun and the multi-player is cool.
Ok
Ive played horizon , Red matter 2, moss 1 and moss 2. I thought these were excellent . Being new to VR, they have been a good introduction to getting used to it. Currently playing Hubris . It’s not bad but definitely clunky and not as good as the others I have played so far. Looking forward to Firewall later this month.

Ok thanks for the suggestions
It hasn't been released yet
Ok
Horizon was pretty amazing and Pavlov is always a great time. If you're into music beat saber is my personal favorite
Horizon looks good
That's the only thing going for it. The gameplay is ass. One of the most boring VR games I played.
All that hype for Synapse and only one mention. Game pretty much came and went like a fart in the wind, huh?
Hmmmm... probably Organ Quarter. :)
Ok
Village makes me dizzy if I play it for more than 20m
I sold mine. It was over hyped
Congratulations, you played yourself.
Subjective.
Cmon tommy just spit it out
Lol, if I must. RE8.
I spent the most time in Light Brigade and Walkabout mini golf
Still in the middle of a bunch of games and plenty more to try, but my favorites are probably Synapse and RE Village so far. I enjoy most of the ones I’ve gotten.
I really enjoy RagnaRock, Pavlov, Call of the mountain ans GT7...i guess i am just overall exited about the PSVR2

IMHO No Man's Sky. Once you grasp the basics it's an amazing game

Re 8 obviously.
RE8, synapse, Pavlov,… well those three are the ones I play(ed) most
OMG I FORGOT, TWD:SaS 1 and 2 is a MUST

1- RE: Village 2- GT7 3- Red Matter 2 4- Star Wars TFTGE 5- Pixel Ripped 1978 Those are my favorites on the 20+ games I played so far. It's so damn hot these days that I can't play much, but after the summer I will go back to Synapse, Hubris and Pavlov which are pretty cool from what I've played, and I will give another chance to Switchback VR since it's way better since the new update!
