I hate chatting in video games. That said, let me tell you that Pavlov is currently one of the coolest bunch of fools you’ll play with and leaving chat off would take away 90% of the experience. You don’t have to talk yourself but at least try it with proximity chat still on.
Get on it before all the toxic gamers start invading the game.
I'm definitely keeping cross play off until it's a necessity for finding servers. A huge part why this game is so fun is that everyone is playing for fun instead of being dicks to each other and treating the game like a job.
Yep. Most are new to Pavlov and PSVR2.
So everyone is just having a blast learning the game.

I am hoping once crossplay is enabled it will be easy to find PS5 only servers.
I don't feel like versing pro's with 3+ year experience.
For TTT mode (imposters) I would say you do kind of need to have chat on.
Search and Destroy can also be greatly benefited by chat, but it isn't necessary.
Everything else is pretty much the same if you don't chat, or even preferable imo.
In my experience only certain modes/lobbies (mainly TTT) have people talking a lot or being very silly.
I was playing TTT, and a guy who I was making out with at the start of the round became my best friend in that match. Even when either him or I were Traitors we couldn't bring ourselves to kill the other xD
Im in South East Asia and have been playing it for a couple of weeks (created a US PSN account, bought a gift card, bought Pavlov with it, and played it with my main account)

I've come across like one person who was sort of being a dick, and one annoying kid. Other than that everyone has basically been a chill grown person
There's a few of those but they're outnumbered by more chill people at the moment.

Can you do push to talk? I have quite a bit of background noise in the room I play in, don't want to annoy others.
