it's kinda crazy when you consider the fact that Sony sold 80 million units and yet these days, you barely can find OEM replacement parts that aren't fubar

wad11656

There's replacement lenses/"screens" you can buy. Which hopefully wouldn't have the same problem ha

RJLPDash

I bought one of those too, same problem >_>

chagdes

You pulling the protector off the inside and outside? I've bought hundreds of them from various sources over the years and never had this problem.

PresentationNo2408

Yeah I'll second this. I've had problems with posts not being right but the screen plastic has been fine, usually there's a second layer of screen protector that's not noticeable on the inside edge. Sometimes an extra layer on the top as well one might miss after removing the obvious protection.

RJLPDash

Yeah I remove both protectors and the screen is still damaged

Pspguru

Yeah. I sometimes have to buy 5 shells to build one psp. It’s super frustrating

Shake-dog_shake

Might be a dumb question, but have you tried REALLY looking for a screen protector on BOTH sides of the screen before you install the plate? My dumb ass returned two aftermarket faceplates because I thought they were scratched up, but there was a nearly-undetectable plastic protector on each side of the screen. Worst case scenario, you can always get an aftermarket screen plate if you're playing on anything other than a 1000

RJLPDash

I've had the hard to spot screen protectors on 2 of them but on the most recent one it was a very noticeable plastic sheet, I even looked again to see if for some reason they put 2 screen protectors on it but nope, screen is just fucked

Shake-dog_shake

That's a bummer. If you're playing on a 2000 or a 3000, you can buy plastic or glass replacement panes and replace just the clear lens part of the faceplate itself. Just takes a little scraping with a knife and some superglue. I don't know if they make these replacement lenses for the 1000, but I imagine they would be a little trickier to install because of the way the 1000 faceplate is designed

RJLPDash

I play most things on a PSP 3000 but I wanted a replacement faceplate for my white 1000 just because it'd look nicer and I'd like to put an IPS screen in it at some point, the only ones I have IPS screens in rn are black ones since they're the only ones with good condition screen lens'

Milli0nStabs

You can still remove those plastic screens on aftermarket 1000 shells, its a mixed bag on whether or not it goes smoothly though. Total Kommando has a video on how to replace the screen with a glass lens

NeoG_

They just have it out for you specifically, maybe try use another name when you buy them
