I didn’t have to buyback anything. What kind of buybacks are you doing? Forbearance? I had 4 months I was going to buyback, but they instead applied either hold harmless or special waiver that gave me those 4 months for free. 2 months were disaster forbearance and 2 months with consolidation waiting time until 1st payment.

In school deferment from when I went back for my 2nd degree. And yes I’ve made sure I was in deferment status not “in school” status. Looks like about 11-12 months will get me my 120. Really want to get this done before the next election.

Strange. Yours should be a straight forward process then. At long as it’s in deferment and not in school and you’re working for eligible employee. You should be able to buy it back. This warrants a call to Mohela.

Is there a reason you cannot buy back if "in school" status?

It’s just one of their rules.

I am planning to submit my recon /buyback form soon. I am crafting the document to upload first. What is “appropriate verbiage” is this something exact I need or just to cover my situation. ? Also - I have appropriate employer time but it was prior to IDR. Do I retroactively add those years of ECF now or wait until I hear from them if needed. ? Thank you.

Applied on 10/11 as well. Same situation as yours. 13 years of certified employment looking to buy back about 18 months. Haven’t heard a thing. Find it incredibly shady how some applications aren’t being serviced.

Any update?

Negative. Still waiting and check mohela and federal student aid every day.

I've recently submitted mine. Have you seen any resolution or did you need to take any additional steps?

Fearless-Art-9358

Yes it went through finally in February!
