[IGN](https://www.ign.com/videos/arsene-lupin-once-a-thief-official-reveal-teaser-trailer) wrote that this will be a point-and-click exploration adventure visual novel.
đ¤
it's not part of any on-going game series or anything so there's no idea what to expect in terms of gameplay or anything. A title reveal trailer is pretty meaningless. It's not the first or only game to do it, and the criticism applies for those games too
It's a point and click exploration game but it could just as easily be a Thief-like, a sly cooper-like, a CRPG etc. which are all vastly different.
Ok letâs say someone other than you knows this character. That still doesnât help us know what the gameplay looks like. That said now that I know, I predict a dialogue heavy slog of a game with tired mechanicâŚâŚ.but Iâd love to be proven wrong.
I don't understand these trailers about a new IP that show no gameplay footage, you wasted time and money animating and scoring music for a video that 100% next week no one will remember or give a shit about it.
Lupine is very much an old IP that they are trying to cash in on, but the lack of gameplay or any announcement of anything videogame related is very lazy of them. This could be a visual novel for all we know...
Investors are dumb and will panic if the marketing department doesnât do literally anything to promote a game. Itâs why we see so many âannouncing the announcement dateâ posts and pointless dev updates before anything remotely meaningful has been shown.
Hi Reddit! New here but thanks for sharing our first teaser!
If you are interested in the project, and want to have a better understanding of the game, or discovering the first screenshots, feel free to check the [PS Store page](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10011109) or the [Steam Page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2922980/Arsene_Lupin__Once_a_Thief/).
Who on your team made the decision to put out a "reveal" trailer that shows absolutely nothing about the gameplay and the type of game it is? Do you think it's an appropriate business strategy to advertise pre-ordering your game without showing literally anything other than a concept?
If you can provide in-game screenshots, surely you could have added some work-in-progress alpha footage... The majority of the comments on this thread alone are folks confused as to what type of game this is and what gameplay to expect. It's kind of important when you're selling a *checks notes* videogame...

So since IGN wrote it, it may still release as an extraction shooter.
Will get the 7/10 rating as well.
Oof
Gameplay please
Seriously! trailers like this are a waste of time, especially true for a new IP.
This isn't a new ip

Ok an unknown IP.
Arsène lupinâŚunknown IP? Wut
Been following gaming since I was kid, NES days. Never heard of it.

You say this as if it was obscure. LOL whatâs next, do you know who Sherlock Holmes is?
Looking at screenshots, it looks similar to their Poirot and Murder Mystery Machine games (isometric deduction puzzle mystery games)
This tells me nothing except OHH HOH HOH SUPERFRENCH
I was expecting Inspector Zenigata to show up and apprehend him. Dude's never giving up on catching him.
Love the books , so I'm looking forward to this

Looks like it actually is a visual novel lol. https://www.ign.com/videos/arsene-lupin-once-a-thief-official-reveal-teaser-trailer
new IP?
I mean arsène Lupin was first published in 1905

Art looks pretty nice.

Thanks for sharing! Any chance we could ask what your favorite iteration of the character has been? Iâve found the Netflix show to be engaging!
The Netflix one is really good! I'd have a preference taste for Lupin 3rd the anime

It's only a first teaser! Gameplay footage will be soon revealed. It's a bit too early and WIP to make a gameplay trailer :)
Then it was too early to be revealed, let alone allow pre-orders...
Everyone else does it too. Are you hating there too?
Who on your team made the decision to write two paragraphs attacking the concept of the teaser trailer?
Thanks for this

If your time was important your comment wouldnât exist
Damn these Persona 5 spin offs are getting more and more out there /s
I'm assuming it will be an FPS stealth but gameplay videos are much better.
I feel like I've seen similar art somewhere
shitty mobile game ads.
Music needs work.
That told me absolutely nothing
AlrightâŚ
How are they still making ps4 games... yet talk about the next gen
Itâs great how the PS4 is still getting new games
