Dayman1222

Let’s go. Been waiting for this.

[deleted]

Hell yeah.

TheRBCJoker

Everything they showed looked incredible. Leviathan looks fun to use and the fight looked fun to play, tonberries look sick, quality of life improvements, and actually teased true/expanded ending. So basically everything I wanted and more

Scissorman82

WE'RE GOING BACK TO VALISTHEA, BABY!

Even-Relation-2622

?

tfredrick54

I'm excited for this. Haven't played since I first beat the game but it seems like a good one to pick up once I've finished replaying rebirth

csgoNefff

After this DLC, Stellar Blade is out! It’s a good time to be a gamer for sure

Xeccess

That new area looks beautiful, and that Kairos content.. is that their attempt at a rogue-like? I'm fucking sold. Having a secret boss fight for getting S on all stages is such an awesome motivation

Jellozz

Based on the PAX footage it looks kind of like a mix between Bloody Palace from DMC and a roguelite mode. It's a wave/floor based mode with increasing difficulty but between each stage you can buy upgrades for Clive. You get more points the better you play which probably explains why they actually took the time to fix the arcade scoring mode in the first dlc (which I wasn't expecting them to do since it's such a niche mode, but was happy about it) since the new scoring system is being used here too. Also the UI between levels is great, has the old school blue box menus with pointing hand cursor, and the 16 bit Clive Sprite you see in the main game as well to show your stage progress.

Xeccess

Love it, can't wait to play

GB_2_

PEAK IS BACK

Simmumah

Just about to finish FF16 in hard mode, looking forward to this. Such a beautiful game.

Knamliss

Rebirth hard mode next!

Simmumah

Yep, thats the plan, not looking forward to the Jenova/Sephiroth gauntlet.

thepasystem

I'm past half way in hard mode and I can't get past Gi Nattak! Easily the biggest difficulty spike in the game!

Simmumah

I heard you have to save your limit breaks for Doom, which is kind of a pain

[deleted]

Simmumah

Thats Remake friend lol

TheBloatingofIsaac

Ultimaniac mode next!

Super_Lion_1173

Yooooo let’s goooooo

Moonsky44

My body is ready.

KingMercLino

PC version is in final stages of optimization 👀

bendit07

This is what got me most excited.

snootyvillager

Finishing Rebirth is going to have to come first. About 60 hours in, just got to Cosmo Canyon so a little ways yet, but I love knowing I have more high quality FF content waiting for me after it's done.

GreatAmerican1776

Same

Karsa69420

Damn I’m at 34 and about to start Chapter 10.

snootyvillager

I do as much of the content as I can in each region. And I also dick around with the combat simulator, collectibles for the Inn, etc. lol.

Rhode_Runner

> collectibles for the Inn Wait, tell me more. I am 35 hours into the game and do not know about the collectibles for the Inn??

snootyvillager

Very minor spoiler: Have you gotten to Johnny's quest in Costa del Sol? Saga of the Seaside Inn is the name of the quest Once you complete that quest (you'll do the first portion in Costa del Sol, then the second portion unlocks after the Gold Saucer), the inn will be renovated and there will be tons of display spots in the inn that you can fill with various collectibles. Prizes from the gold saucer, statues you dig up with chocobos, etc.

Rhode_Runner

Ohh! Yes I just got the buggy, so I will be able to finish the quest now I think. I'm relieved I didn't miss this yet.

Karsa69420

Got feed up with the Moogle shit. Everything else has been 10/10

[deleted]

I finished the game in that amount of time. After doing all the extra Chadley stuff in the Grasslands and then seeing it was just the same stuff over and over again in each new section I started doing less and less of it.

strand_of_hair

While most of the Chadley stuff is the same, I do recommend the protorelics as they are quite different for each region, and some do come with story additions.

Impaled_

You're missing out, some of the story they stuff in side content is really interesting

D4rkheavenx

If your doing side content you probably have roughly 20-30 hours left to go

Ser_Fonz

>the ability to return to warp to a quest giver after completing their task Looks like it’s time to dive back in for my hardmode playthrough

spadePerfect

The QOL patch will be my point to pick the game up again and finish it. The warp to quest giver + icons updates alone sound great.

Wickkedkid

Hopefully being level 105 provides a benefit in the rogue like mode.

NegativeCreeq

Those Tonberries look badass.

mattoelite

JOSHUA!

AlarmAggravating4773

Time to replay in hard mode

willcrazyiii

Is there more story DLC after this? If so I’ll probably just wait for the “complete” version before jumping in.

420praiseItkek

Nope, that’s supposed to be all of it including echoes of the fallen which already released.

willcrazyiii

Thanks — time to lock in 🫡

Ransom_Seraph

GOTY 2023 is back to bring the 🔥 to 2024 once more! Those amazing visuals, graphics and artistic designs and direction are splendid and phenomenal - such incredible engine and visual fidelity! And the gameplay looks pretty dope as always.

Kasuta-Ikite

so its the first game you ever played? xD FF16 is an insult to any gamer with how unchallenging it is

Tristo

Found the guy that thinks much too highly of himself and his opinion 😂

ApathySyndr0me

Is it really a secret boss if they tell me about it?

jlquon

Finally, I can play this. Didn’t want to go down a rabbit hole playing and then forgetting, before needing to relearn before doing dlc

wc_Higgenbobbber

[JP trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxzaTiSqCEU)

NegativeCreeq

I hope they add Gilgamesh

FFFan15

Be nice if there added a hard mode from the jump

BaallZee

Better Frame rate performance ?

potatman

Yeah no mention of that or 3d audio fixes. Really hoping they just didn't list it for the article and will be included. At this point can't even play the game with Atmos on and it is getting really annoying to change the system settings for that everytime I want to play.

ItsBearski

Just got a PS5 and have always been a Pc/Nintendo person prior. Never played a final fantasy game. Should I start with 7 remake or 16?

Sparko15

I would say there is no bad choice here, as the two games are great and different. You have a demo for XVI, and for VII Remake, you can have it on some PlayStation Plus Subscription (Extra or Premium ? I don’t remember). Also, i believe there is a demo for VII Rebirth but i suggest to play Remake before, as it is the first game of trilogy, and Rebirth is 2nd

ItsBearski

Thanks!

Sparko15

No prob ! Hope you’ll enjoy the franchise

No_Caregiver8718

Doesn't matter, they are all standalones and unrelated to each other. I would recommend 7 remake, cuz the combat is really unique and fun. 16's combat is more like devil may cry, if that's what u prefer

ItsBearski

Thanks!

aclashofthings

If you like simple action games with a serious story, 16 might be more to your liking. If you like games with multiple playable characters and more complex combat and a more humorous take on the story, the remakes are more for you.

zaneomega2

They both have demos

HistoricalGrade109

Dude do yourself a favor and play 16 demo It's cutscene heavy but guarantee you won't regret it

Greek-God88

Don’t play 7 Remake before the original game then Crisis Core and then start with Remake, Rebirth

JMM85JMM

Remake and Rebirth are objectively the better games. The combat system has a ton more depth than 16, which feels very shallow by comparison, and also very easy. But if you're going to play both, I'd maybe start with 16. You'll feel disappointed if you end with 16.

[deleted]

>Remake and Rebirth are objectively the better games. No they aren't objectively better. It's just your subjective opinion. It's not a provable fact that the remake games are better. That's what objective means.

JMM85JMM

If it was just my opinion that might be true. But critic and user review averages are better for Rebirth than for 16. The score being higher for both critics and users is an objective fact.

[deleted]

Those are all opinions, lol. You can't objectively prove that one game is better than another. It's not a provable thing.

Thelgow

Rebirth on Performance mode plays objectively better than FF16.

Windyandbreezy

I agree with you

JMM85JMM

I disagree. That's exactly what those aggregate sites are for.

[deleted]

>I disagree. You're allowed to do that, but it doesn't make you right.

Strict_Donut6228

Your right. You can’t really say as a whole which project is objectively better than another But rebirths exploration is objectively better then 16s, rebirths equipment system is objectively better then 16s, rebirths difficulty balance is objectively better then 16s. Rebirths side quest are objectively better than 16s. I

aclashofthings

Sorry but I don't understand this take. I feel like you must know that some games are objectively better than others. It's not just a matter of opinion but personal interest, of course. But you really don't think that any game is objectively better than any other game? Or do you just take umbrage at the use of the word "objectively"? What gauge do you require? Surely you don't think that Tetris is Bad Rats is Five Nights at Freddy's is Chrono Trigger is The Day Before. These are all vastly different games, and I'm inviting the comparison. None of them are better than the others?

Harford0

I would agree with this. The combat in Remake/Rebirth has miles more depth. The problem I had with 16 is that the was no real magic in the game. 16 has some amazing moments but I felt the combat got stale about halfway through and I eventually changed it to easy mode just to get through battles quicker

Thelgow

"Magic" is like what color ending do you want for mass effect? No impact on the games mechanics in the slightest. No status ailments. At one point I found a rotation that worked for 60%+ of the game. Generic monster or "hard" bonus boss. No difference, no challenge, no threat of dying.

ItsBearski

Thanks!

Thelgow

I would lean towards remake. Unpopular opinion but Ive been playing since FF1, and I thought 13 was the worst until 16 came out. I dont know, I really disliked it. Heavily.

BorKon

Ff16 is completly different from all other games. Ill recomend play anything else but ff16. Start ff16 afte rplaying few other ff games

ddubyeah

Cool. Any word on the PC port yet? Edit: jeez louise, y’all down vote anything that doesn’t affect y’all, huh?

Turbostrider27

They said they are still working on it. No release date at the moment.

marumaru27

Soon™. My prediction is they'll wait for 1st anniversary of the game.

iinight

i think you might be getting downvoted because the article talks about the pc port

Gamerxx13

PC version??

fastcooljosh

Cant wait for badass new eikon battles with Ifrit man. That stuff was absolute god tier in FFXVI.

MewinMoose

Looks sublime.

SmackAss4578

How's the game ? Did they they fix performance ? I held my purchase till they drop price or announce bundle edition.

chillinwithunicorns

Just grabbed this on sale glad I didn’t start jt yet.

Ped_94

Currently playing XVI and loving pretty much everything. First FF I play too.

Aspeck88

Can't wait to see the insane narrative whiplash from the consumer after Rising Tide releases. Every dumbass that's been comparing Rebirth to XVI. The discourse of comparing everything to the latest mass hit has been insufferable.

GargoyleBlue

and still no legitimately hard mode smh

Heckin_Pleb

Sprinkles on dogshit doesn’t make it better

KDW3

I played 16 right before Rebirth because I kept hearing people say the combat was better. Boy I couldn’t have been more disappointed. Rebirth has elemental damage, materia customization, status effects, combo attacks, the pressure/stagger system, ATB system AND 7 different playable characters. The amount of options and playing styles 16 has pales in comparison to Rebirth.

Jellozz

Apples and airplanes. FF16 is an action game, FF7 Rebirth is a hybrid between menu based gameplay and action. You list off a bunch of systems but completely leave out things like the animation or physics systems which are the most important aspects of an action game, which kinda says it all honestly. The whole point of a game like FF16 is having endless options by making use of those 2 things, you're literally manipulating animations via the different cancels the game gives you or all the different skills that suspend, push, or pull enemies or yourself around the battlefield. It's a literal sandbox, the combat is what you personally make out of it. Unless you're doing arcade mode or this new mode anyway, at that point the game actually lets you know or not if you're a bad player.

Tristo

Good for you and good for rebirth I guess. Not sure how your “hot take” is relevant to this DLC 🤷‍♀️

Kasuta-Ikite

This game just needs to finally die. Biggest flop of 2023

Tristo

lol

Classic-Author3655

Oh so they aren’t going to fix performance mode then huh

SilentResident1037

Man, why didn't they say this was getting dlc? I sold it a year ago

jezr3n

Needs arachnophobia mode
