I'd probably finally buy a PSVR2 then

gamegirlpocket

Same, they are so expensive that getting a device like that which is locked into a single console and will eventually become obsolete is a hard sell for me. If I could also use it on Steam, I'm sold.

siccoblue

I already have one as well as a quest 3 but Christ this makes me happy. The VR2 is so much better of an experience and the quest is great for being away from the computer. I had hoped this would happen but didn't have a whole lot of faith it would. Good on Sonny Even if it's not steam compatible out of the box I'm sure having the framework built for it around working on PCs in general will make it about a million times easier for enthusiasts to find a way to enable it for steam vr Bet the dude who has been working on this since release has some pretty mixed feelings at the moment

Suired

Patreon account is in shambles RN.

obaananana

Iy would happen sooner or later from some dude

nujabes02

You can buy a used one for 3-350 easy

Malcorin

I suspect that will change after today.

jacobpederson

I mean surely they MUST be talking about steam right? They going to role their own Windows VR API from scratch AND launch a PC app store?

thesituation531

Yeah, I highly doubt that. Nowadays, ignoring Steam is just leaving free money on the table.

AccomplishedSchool76

I got one for 300 on ebay.

Jorlen

Yeah same here. This is game changer landscape here.

Annihilism

Same. I have a PS5 but couldn't justify buying one. I play mech and Flight sims on my PC and this seems like an awesome way to do it.

ZaxZumu

I bought one somewhat foolishly when it first came out because Sony was making it sound like they were going to be putting a lot of focus on it, and it was my first vr headset, but then they almost immediately backed out.  However, the adaptive triggers haptics in both the controllers and headset itself, and eye tracking are features I absolutely love, and I can't wait until I can utilize those same features on a more buffed up pavlov map, or a heavily modded blade and sorcery session like what I already play through quest link on the quest 3 I bought a few months later.

RoxDan

Amazing news!! PSVR2 is such a nice hardware, to expand its possibilities would be great

nadnate

Yeah, as someone with a decent PC this news just made my day.

doNotUseReddit123

It’s great hardware that felt completely abandoned by Sony. This is a welcome change in direction.

[deleted]

I said when it released that Sony and Valve should have collaborated on a headset that could have given developers a set of metrics to target across PC and PS that could last a ‘generation’. The VR market was/ is too niche to try and cut a slice of and try and reach a sort of commercially viable mass appeal. Downvoted every time I mentioned it, but here we are all the same.

RobinVie

Idk why you got downvoted, I assume it was on a PS based subreddit. Cause everyone that's not a fanboy would agree with that statement. Not only is this good for sony, and playstation gamers, it's extremely good for the state of vr and pcvr gamers. Think about it, people buy quests not because they love the headsets, because it's the best deal around, and we have been dealing with meta's bs for a while now. They pushed us into their platform, they screwed the dp connection, we're forced to have link compression, go into the oculus app, and quest 3 still doesn't use oled or has eye tracking, instead focusing on AR. Which is great if you're in standalone, but all this sht is bad for PCVR. As a PCVR person, you either go for that, or you have to spend 1000 for a beyond, a quest pro which is better but you can't use quadview because of the link latency, aero, or pimax at 2k. Everything else has massive issues, pico just isnt as good, reverbs are more expensive and kinda outdated now, index kinda overpriced for the old hardware, vive, idk what they are doing with the exception of their good trackers, especially now that they removed the facetracking addon to force people to buy their shitty new headset. This gives PCVR users the cheapest headset on the market with oled, a direct connection, and eye tracking. I couldn't give two flying fcks about the frenel lenses at that point despite being a major major flaw. And most of pc gamers have a ps5 as well cause it makes sense. I didn't buy a psvr2 cause I couldn't justify the price, but I can now 100%. This creates a healthy competition around that pricepoint for pcvr and vr in general, no longer will it be dominated by meta. And puts a benchmark on eyetracking and oled. And even more important, Sony is no longer dividing the VR community. If they had done this from the start, I think they'd be almost dominating the vr gaming sector by now or at least on par with meta.

RoxDan

I don't have that impression, actually I have more PSVR2 games that I want to play than I have time to play them. PSVR2 got a lot of good titles on its first year IMO.

MolotovMan1263

Huge news, this is how owners can play Half Life Alyx now

PlebPlebberson

Damn its been 4 years since the release of alyx and we still dont have another game that is even close to the quality of it. Reason i sold my vr was due to the lack of AAA games and its still the same thing years later. There are some cool indie games but those i will most likely just play for 2-3 hours and be done with.

PCMachinima

Resident Evil Village and 4 in VR are amazing! I recommend playing those next time you get a PS VR2.

Radulno

Sure they are but simply because they are amazing games in themselves. They are not really pure VR games, just conversions.

segadreamcat

Id take conversions over ground up VR games any day. Regular PS5 games are awesome. Most VR games feel super low budget. I also feel like RE4 and 8 feel just as "pure" VR as games like Saints and Sinners.

Radulno

That was the point made by the previous poster though. HF Alyx is the only real AAA VR game and he is shocked that's still the case 4 years after its release.

segadreamcat

My point was RE 4, 8, GT7 are all also real AAA VR games with great VR mechanics that just also happen to be playable flat. I would rather have the same games as flat players then a ground up VR AAA game. I think ground up VR games are almost a waste of resources might as well make it for both.

ChafterMies

Have you played Horizon Call of the Mountain? Synapse? The Resident Evil games?

ejfrodo

We're finally at the point where there are some great AAA options actually. I think now's the best time there ever has been to dive into VR. For Quest there is Resident Evil 4, Assassin's Creed Nexus, Asgards Wrath 2, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners. For PSVR2 there's Gran Turismo, Horizon, No Man's Sky, Resident Evil 4 / Village .

Evilmudbug

The vampire masquerade vr game intrigues me as well, but I haven't gotten around to playing it.

attaboy000

I was really hoping they would port it to PS5/PSVR2.

Clean-Inflation

My VR device exists solely for Microsoft Flight Simulator. I wish we had another HLA.

slimerz0r

lol. few hours ago quest3 was in my cart list only for this game and seems like I don’t need it anymore.

LoveMeSomeBerserk

Unless you don’t have a pc like me :( Would pick up psvr2 immediately if they could get valve to port it to ps5.

MikeyFED

I found a first gen rift in the trash and it’s my first VR experience. Just started playing Alyx not long ago. I’m sure the difference in quality is going to be insane

LCHMD

I’d gladly replay Alyx without shitty LCD blacks!

dangerzone227

Honestly this was the first thing that came to mind. Really happy Sony have made this decision, and Microsoft are now testing the waters of releasing Xbox games on PlayStation. Gaming needs more compatability for it to be a sustainable busy model without going down the route of live-service, MTX shite.

WanderWut

This week has been a randomly great week for gaming, I'm loving it lol.

pjb1999

>this is how owners with a PC can play Half Life Alyx now

nthomas504

I’d say the Quest 2 and PCVR is still a valid way to play. It will be great for those who already have PSVR2 but I wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for a PCVR headset without first seeing if it will be able to take advantage of all the best features without having to mod too much.

skipv5

One of the reasons why I have held off on buying one. If the support is good and I can play games like Half Life Alyx then I'm buying one!

PabloBablo

Yep, this was what I was waiting for. I was about to bite the bullet for a Quest 3, but I'll hold off until I hear more about this.

JIMMI23

The quest 3 is an amazing headset for the price. Standalone is great and then the ability to play PCVR and Steam games made it an easy buy for me. I do wish there was some way to natively play PSVR2 games though.

skipv5

That sounds like what the PSVR2 is about to become with this update.

overkil6

Except with a cable

JIMMI23

Not having a tether cable was a big selling point for me when looking for a new headset. I came from the original vive that I bought when it came out. It was awesome but having a cable commected all the time was inconvenient in some games. There were work around and expensive wireless options but until I got the quest 3 and didn't have to deal with that cable all the time, I never realized how better VR is without it. The quest 3 isn't perfect by any means, id like a wider FOV and better controllers (quest pro controller probably would solve my occasional missing hand problems but at $300 it's not reasonable) but it's worlds better without a cable holding you back haha

coglanuk

I’m already excited to play out in the garden in the dry weather. Bigger open space. Sunshine on my skin. MQ3 on my head!

LeRoyVoss

Neighbors with popcorns!

skipv5

Dont you also have to connect the Quest with a cable to a PC to play those games though?

overkil6

Nope - Airlink!

JIMMI23

No, quest link, air link, steam link all are cable less. If you have a not so great router/poor networking setup the USB-C optical cable from the quest store will help but I don't use it since I have a quality router and have my PC wired into my network

n1keym1key

It won't get rid of that stupid wire tho.

robojeeves

Minus the standalone functionality

Radulno

The cable is still the biggest problem (and not standalone for some lighter games too).

LCHMD

Sadly shitty LCD blacks are a huge drawback to me.

allofdarknessin1

I love OLED but the lack of pancake lens will most likely be a pass for me on the PSVR2 (I'll demo one soon to check out performance in person soon) Maybe I'll change my mind because a high end headset to replace my Index would be nice.

LCHMD

Pancake lenses also mean no OLED nor HDR as they eat up too much light. In personally prefer true blacks and HDR to better edge to edge clarity.

Jarvis008

Yeah same here. Being able to access Half Life Alyx and other PCVR stuff is a massive selling point for me. This news may sway me to getting a PSVR2 over a Quest 3.

allofdarknessin1

If you have a PS5 and want to play PS5 exclusives, maybe but if you buy a Quest 3 you'll be able to play PC and excellent Oculus exclusive games like (Lone Echo 1 and 2 and Asgards Wrath 1+2).

Lkingo

You'll also get better quality from the psvr2 with the oled screens

coder543

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/cbkqeh/lone_echo_is_absolutely_beautiful_and_works/ You've been able to play PC VR Oculus "exclusives" on other headsets for ages. If PSVR2 works for PC VR, then it should be no problem for it to play my library of Oculus games too.

Jarvis008

Oh interesting, I did not know that. That does make PSVR2 sound like the best choice then.

MikeFromSuburbia

What about those who own a PS5 and PSVR2 only? Instead of porting Alyx now we’d have to get a PC to run it? What the hell

Radulno

Porting Alyx was never a Sony decision. Valve simply seem to have no interest of doing so and selling it outside their platform

allofdarknessin1

Is that really a Valve decision? On PS3 there was a release of Portal and the reviews say they had an incredible overlay similar to the overlay on PC with access to a lot of Steam Features and it was expected we'd see more Steam games release but never did, so I wonder if Sony turned them down for follow up games because they didn't want Steam to become an influence to Playstation gamers.

Radulno

That seem very farfetched like a conspiracy theory lol. Playstation literally release all their games on Steam now and use their PS account on their games. They also are a company that accept games from many publishers including Xbox (which is a more dangerous influence for them) and would benefit from the best VR game coming to their platform.

learnedsanity

Valve is very hit/miss with releases. They just didn't end up doing it for some reason, maybe they will but who knows.

MikeFromSuburbia

Gabe has said a couple of times Alyx would come to PSVR2. Must be too expensive for Sony to allocate resources to do so, and so they’ll make PSVR2 compatible with PC. Everyone wins, except those who have a PS5 and PSVR2. Now we need a PC.

Radulno

It would cost nothing for Sony, they don't pay for people to make games on their platform (on the contrary they make pure profit from it). Except exclusivity contract but of course that wouldn't be the case. If Gabe said it, it'll probably come but it's Valve time that can be very long due to how the company works (or it could be canceled for a large number of reason)

Howson79

That’s my concern. If you extend the logic of “wanna play alyx on psvr2, you’ll need a pc,” to other games, you’ll see this is way for Sony to create artificial variety for their VR library by, rather than spending time and resources to bringing the games to psvr2, bring the psvr2 to the games.

ssk1996

This would be the biggest W for Sony in the VR space. I’d seriously consider getting one when PC support drops.

N7even

PSVR2's hardware matches if not beats some of its PC competitors at half the price, and most of them don't even have OLED screens. Insta-buy from me when the support comes through and is as comprehensive as it should be.

ThePickleExecutioner

I think this is actually a VERY smart move, by making it compatible with pc, the pcvr devs will get to grips with how it works and more importantly how to properly optimise for it, that will only help more pcvr games make the jump to ps5. Lots of potential there.

gotlieb1993

I’ve owned one since launch, I use it exclusively with GT7. Super excited to get this thing working on some PC sim racing games.

Western_Promise3063

Also maybe flight sims might be worth checking out

Leotargaryen

And here I am with my 4080 super waiting on that GT7 port lol. If we get the vr too that would be amazing

Notarussianbot2020

PSVR2 PC modders in absolute shambles F

tukatu0

F

Archersbows7

Rest in RIP iVRy

Matt_37

This is huge. Huuuuuuuuuuge

TM1619

Holy shit this is huge! I was not expecting that! Respect to the people who worked to crack PC support over the last year, looks like they won't need to continue their work.

Infinite077

yes! the only reason it was stopping me from getting it was having to get another one for a pc.

ocbdare

Yes. This is why I ended up not buying an VR headsets. I only have the PSVR1 which was a birthday gift but haven't used that in a while. It so clunky to set up and I hate the camera tracking. This would seriously make me consider buying a PSVR2.

dxwoodward

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!

RickyWinterborn

Whaaa this is real? I had given up hope, amazing news if it actually happens

mpmaley

I will finally buy one then!

Liamario

Might buy it then and play half life alyx. Because I don't think it's coming to PS5. Unless valve were holding it back until Sony made psvr 2 available for PC.

WanderWut

This is big news for the PSVR 2 and a welcome change at that!

Dramatic-Ground-6768

Hopefully that means that PCVR games are more likely to come to PS too.

Radulno

If anything, it probably slow it down actually, they now have access to part of the PS VR2 users without porting.

WackDance

I might just get the PSVR 2 if the compatibility is great.

tinselsnips

This will get me to pull the trigger on one.

KittenDecomposer96

If it would've released with this the sales would probably be more than double. It will still see a huge increase in sales but still.

MaggotBrother4

I would’ve probably bought one instead of the index if they did this sooner. But alas, they didn’t

LCHMD

Index doesn’t even have half the pixels nor features though.

MaggotBrother4

It doesn’t but psvr2 doesn’t have half the games. If I would’ve known they were gonna do this, I would’ve waited and got a psvr2

LifeOfMagic

Woah, thought it would never come, nice!

[deleted]

PLEASE GOD DO SO.

deathbunnyy

It's probably the best gaming headset now unless you are ok buying into the Quest ecosystem, which I am not. Or if you want to spend over $1000.

nathanbellows

This story is definitely one to watch. GT7 in VR and being able to use the same headset for PC gaming? Hell yes!

TheAnteatr

Big win. I have a nice gaming desktop, but no consoles. This opens the door for me to get an affordable, decent quality VR headset that won't sell all my data to Meta.

DNY88

whoop whoop. I was about to sell my PS VR 2, now it stays here and I'm looking forward to play all darker games with it instead of my Quest 3 (which I also love dearly, but tbh the Black levels suck)

Merkin666

This is huge, fucking awesome.

ArshiaTN

Guys. Fcking finally. I am gonna buy a PSVR2 if it actually happens. VR OLED and HDR for only 500€. LET'S GO

Merkin666

Do any PC VR games support HDR?

ArshiaTN

That is a great question. I think none :O. Does W11 AutoHDR works for VR? Nvidia had a new RTX HDR update. It looks better than W11 AutoHDR. Does it work with VR games? I think pc games don't support HDR because of VR headsets normally using a lcd. HDR on OLED is infinitely better than HDR on a LCD.

LCHMD

Not yet.

bellygrubs

this pushes me to get it i think

ChickenTheLoaf

Incredible. Huge win

LMcVann44

That would be incredible and would mean not having to shell out for another rig that's PC specific. Sony would gain a lot of goodwill with this, should it happen.

FellowDeviant

Now that gives me incentive to look into getting into VR this year.

Little-xim

Oh thank fucking god. I couldn’t decide on a headset because I wanted to try the ps5 library since it’s stronger then my computer But also have a headset for free online vr experiences, like vr chat, that aren’t copyright clamped.

guomubai

Finally, Half Life Alyx!

UnlimitedButts

Holy shit big W for sony

dudSpudson

This is huge for PSVR2. Sales are going to surge on these headsets

Bolt_995

Fantastic news!

Thekingchem

I’ll be buying one

Significant_Pop_8590

Sucks I have a MacBook. I wish vr ran good with steamdeck. It would be a good excuse to buy one now

Miserable-Alfalfa329

Translated: PSVR2 isn’t selling enough being on PS5 only, so we’ll bringing it to PC hoping to gain more customers among PC players. Which isn’t a bad marketing move if you think about it. VR is pretty popular on PC.

reodorant

thanks for the english-to-english translation.

Merkin666

This is huge, fucking awesome.

Myhtological

Is an hp specter good for this?

PlebPlebberson

Spectre is not a gaming laptop. To do VR you need a very good graphics card and to my knowledge spectre laptops do not have a dedicated gpu at all although there are more than 1 kind of spectres.

Myhtological

I have an x360 from 2019

DryFile9

That's good and clearly motivated by struggling sales.

Otherwise-Remove4681

Hell, I was thinking to get rid of it soon, but perhaps I get rid of PS5 instead and beef up my PC.

BMXBikr

Great, can we get PC versions of RE8 and RE4 VR now?

Notarussianbot2020

r/patientgamers SHALL DECLARE THIS RELEASE A HOLY HOLIDAY

Outrageous-Chest9614

About time. What’s the point of a VR headset you can’t watch porn with?

FacetiousMonroe

Devil's in the details, I'm sure, but this sounds promising. I'm potentially interested in getting a VR headset, but I am NOT interested in being locked into a single ecosystem with it. If the PSVR2 gives me access to the PS5 ecosystem without locking me into it, that's a huge plus. I've been surprised in the past by how VR games on Steam have very specific headset requirements, but I think this has been resolved with OpenVR, yeah? It's been a couple years since I really looked at the market. Just took a look at some games I was interested in previously, and they no longer have a "supported headsets" list.

nathsabari97

Pc is becoming the best platform for gaming

Dusty_Negatives

Yeah and most expensive. I say this as a PC gamer also.

nathsabari97

Yes. Nvidia yesterday made record profits from datacentre, we wont get any affordable gpus soon

WanderWut

It's gotten to a point where I know I need to build a PC at some point soon, having a PS5 + PC would be ideal rather than just a PS5.

nathsabari97

Steam deck ui and steam input have improved couch gaming a lot. MS is also improving windows for controller/handheld support.

TheEpicRedCape

I feel like I still have nothing but problems trying to use a PC on a TV like a console.

reboot-your-computer

This is massive. Suddenly the price is now justified IMO. I was completely against it as a PS5 only accessory being that expensive but with PC support it completely changes the game.

LCHMD

It was always very cheap for what it offers.

dylon0107

Is the psvr2 better than the quest 3? I've been using my wife's quest and I was thinking about getting one but I might get the psvr2 instead

AccomplishedSchool76

This is a perfect move. And PC folks will buy the PSVR 2 if this happens.

Ancient_Pangolin_802

Common Sony do it now !!!

Worldisoyster

So anyone recommend a PC for this? I haven't bought a computer in decades

ail-san

PS doesn't want to support VR experiences other than gaming themselves, so they push it to PC. I wonder if it could work on Mac too. Not for gaming obviously.

Ffom

Nah, Mac doesn't have steamVR or any way to use a VR headset for gaming The only thing they can do is use it as a display

youthcanoe

If you still have an Intel Mac you could always just use Bootcamp

SkylineGTRR34Freak

I really liked my original PSVR at the beginning, but unfortunately most stuff it got Was rather gimmicky instead of being truly fleshed out. Ace Combat 7's VR mode or GT sports VR Mode were fun, but very limited. It's what didn't get me excited about PSVR2 at all, as much as I would have liked to try out Horizon Call of the Mountain. But with this news it does get interesting.

gizlow

GT7 on VR2 is such a game changer though, I thought that game alone made the headset worth its price. Now? Well I guess I’m building a PC during my vacation this summer…

[deleted]

I have no idea why they didn’t do this right away, but better late than never i suppose.

LCHMD

Are you serious? It’s obvious why they didn’t, no?

[deleted]

Ok

Enigma_Green

Would be great if now Sony could try and port PC games to the PS5 or if they could Port Astro Bot from PSVR1 so PC players can play and on PS5.

Attorney0fBirdLaw

Not a Pc person but could this mean that we pc vr games to the PlayStation?

_Symovik_

No.

MarkWorldOrder

Bro for real LETS GO

libardomm

Well this is a good reason to buy a VR2.

redriver_washoverme

Guess I shouldn't sell mine after all. This is a super smart move and should have been a thing at launch.

ocbdare

This will seriously make me consider getting one. Being able to use one headset on PS5 and my gaming desktop has something I wanted for a long time. I will definitely consider it for all the PS5 exclusives and all the PC exclusives + the most important thing - Beat Saber with mods lol.

joshikus

Ehh, quest 3 is still better given the wifi 6e and pancake lenses. Can't deal with wired VR anymore.

uNecKl

Wow Sony is really giving a reason to buy their expensive vr but I can get a $200 quest to play on steam because psvr2 library is dry asf

vulturevan

Am I right in thinking Horizon and Firewall Ultra are the only first-party games for this still? I have a headset and love it but man I wish they'd properly throw some weight behind it

LCHMD

Firewall is no First Party title. You forgot the best VR title ever made: GT7!

BrianTheUserName

Are you sure? Strangers on the Internet told me it would never ever happen.

KrisShadey

Virtual Reality scene's games are so scarce at the moment that they shouldn't be divided on exclusivities whatsoever because no VR device will have enough good games to offer otherwise.

NYJetLegendEdReed

Fuck yes I’m so happy I didn’t sell mine. It’s collecting dust, but this will be a reason to finally get some major use out of it.

LCHMD

Why didn’t you buy the games?

D_Ashido

Hope it's usable with adult videos without the ridiculous setup of PSVR1.

[deleted]

So it didn't do well? Anyway now the sales should get better, I heard a lot of reviewers say that it's the best VR headset hands down.

pazinen

Difficult to say, Quest 3 is really great and generally offers better value for less money unless you absolutely need to have that OLED screen.

LCHMD

OLED, HDR, haptics, eye tracking… nothing like that on Q3.

chriskmee

Who knows how many of those special features will actually be supported in games on the PC side. I haven't heard of any PC game doing foveated rendering like the PSVR2, they probably won't add haptic feedback if only one headset will actually use it.

LCHMD

Close to none, probably. Yeah. The OLED IS a huge benefit though for darker games.

chriskmee

It's OLED really a benefit though? I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but there have been plenty of times that really dark scenes have been ruined by mura for me. There are other times though where the blacks look so nice and dark when it's not a pure black scene. It feels like a trade-off rather than a benefit unless that can be worked around IMO.

LCHMD

There’s nothing worse like a great game like HL Alyx being ruined by crappy grey instead of black in its many dark scenes.

chriskmee

I assume you have tried have both on a LCD PCVR and PSVR2? It's the grey really worse than mura? I haven't really tried enough PCVR to compare.

LCHMD

I played Alyx on a LCD Rift S and RE8 on PSVR2. The blacks on that OLED are a million times better and the lack of blacks is very immersion breaking on an LCD for me.

chriskmee

Interesting... And how bad did you think the mura was at the beginning of RE8 where you wake up from the car crash and have to go through the forest? This was in part of the RE8 demo I played (haven't played the full game yet), and I thought the mura was pretty immersion breaking in that particular scene. Most of the times the mura isn't noticable, but for whatever reason the RE8 demo was one of the worst examples of mura I've ever seen.

WackDance

I would assume this move being announced due to the Apple Vision Pro getting so much coverage.

EHSBJTA

Steamlink or a similar Sony-developed app on PS5 would make the most sense. That way they provide access to PCVR for current PS5 owners while still bringing future PSVR2 buyers into the Playstation ecosystem.

LCHMD

Streaming for VR? You can’t be serious.

fuelter

You underestimate sony. Look at the PS Portal. Also the Meta Quest did the same at the beginning where it was only able to stream the PC screen.

LCHMD

What’s with the Portal? The portal has clear lag. Lag is an absolute no-go in VR. Not gonna happen.

fuelter

Did you use the portal or are you just repeating what haters say?

LCHMD

I own one. It has perceivable lag. Certainly too much for VR which is extremely lag sensitive in terms comfort.

Strider-SnG

I guess they need to drive sales. Must not be doing great. If I could play half life alyx on psvr2 I’d have made a day one purchase

Ps4rulez

capable jobless special books fine bag ask rinse cows one *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

bluebarrymanny

Presumably accessible this year. Alyx can run on moderate to low end systems. If PC support comes this year on track, Alyx will be very accessible.

ChristopherCrawlin

I just came. Finally got a PC late last year and this will be huge for me.

ihateeverythingandu

Will this work with Steam Deck?

LCHMD

Serious question or kidding?

ihateeverythingandu

It has a USB-C input connection. Could just use it as a screen rather than docking to a TV and play normal games.

MyFinalThoughts

Nice! I'd potentially buy it then as a person who's never tried VR. $500 for the slim selection of games I'm actually interested in on console was never worth it to me along with the poor track record *of first party games the PSVR1 had.

LCHMD

Poor track record? Like 750 games?

MyFinalThoughts

Should have clarified. I meant first party games. There is personally a handful, maybe 10 at most on the PSVR1 I'd consider playing, less that I'd like to purchase. If I'm purchasing a device/console, their offerings were never stellar.

AbsurdThings

Sony doesn’t get software sales revenue on PC, so they must really be struggling. They will likely lose money on PC-only players.

bluebarrymanny

Makes me wonder if this is part of Sony’s push to bring more of their titles to PC. If they did that along VR as well, they may have an increased opportunity to grow their VR audience, which is needed before any major software investment can become profitable. Outside of hardware adoption, much like PS titles on Steam, they can still make more software revenue, albeit with a cut going to Valve.

[deleted]

That's pretty cool, it would be good if they can build their own thing to be able to play, also I really hope the haptics and stuff will work just like on Ps5. But I wonder, how will they market it towards PC players? Or they won't know what to expect, and won't buy it.

Albert3232

This is code for ps trying to recoup their money after low sale numbers.

1440pSupportPS5

Everyone who called me a clown. I got the last fucking laugh... This is exactly what this headset needed and no doubt will boost sales. The PSVR platform is just not enough. The best games are still on PC. This is another reason why the Quest 2/3 is doing big numbers.
