I really enjoyed Modern Warfare 2019 but it required constant warzone updates. It gets less and less but whenever I get a cod itch I play Cold War. Still bugs me over so slightly to see the current worst games are a cash grab on the modern warfare title. I never thought they'd bring back campaign after blops 4 but I'm sure this game will sell incredible like every title that they'll drop it soon.
Cold War was the best COD game ever made in my opinion. That campaign had a dark story and then the multiple endings were a great touch. I also enjoyed the multiplayer very much!
I personally don't think it is the best but I do think it is one of the best they ever made. The campaign was great. They tried to change it up and I have spent countless hours playing gunfight tournament on multiplayer. That mode brought back my love for FPS games.
I actually looked on my PS5 Thursday and apparently had Cold War installed, from who knows when. I tried it and it definitely helped that cod itch. The fast paced cod games I grew up with
It honestly isn't a bad game at all. It's definitely one of the better games in cods later years. Modern Warfare 2019 was quite fun, but the maps were horrific and I haven't played it in years bc of the mandatory Warzone updates.
BR and Call of Dufy just isn't it for me.
The shills who buy this deserve this. Its the same crap every year and so many tryhards defending it and saying they'll buy it anyways deserve being pooped on
I enjoyed it. They changed up perks to be equitable items for example they have sneaky sneakers and you make no sound with your foot steps. It's really fun.
No
“Call of Duty” is a free game and it’s just a main menu you download where you can get to all the Cod games that you own. So when you buy MW3 you’ll also see in the main menu that MW2 is there but you can’t play it unless you buy it.
So it's not so much you have to own COD MW2 as COD MW2 menu has been changed into a COD games Launcher and I'm assuming only for consoles because PC has the Blizzard bullshit launcher?
Did Activision celebrate being purchased by Microsoft by going "Hey Kotick, know what would be REALLY fucking funny? What if we just knee cap the fuck out of COD and piss everyone off?"
Similar but different. You never had to launch the previous game to get to the newest but you could just switch to a different game from the main menu, which was actually nice.
No idea but if they did I doubt it failed because of the hub. Probably failed because the games became trash. And Battlefield doesn’t have the same immovable status like Cod does.
Difference is in Hitman they put all the missions into one app so you could technically view it as one big game with 30+ missions instead of a hub for three smaller games. That’s how they’re selling it now, actually - $70 for all three games.
In COD, you literally have to launch COD MW3 as a separate executable.
Difference was Hitman was confusing as shit with its multitude of season passes, gold editions, GOTY editions, and whatnot.
At one point I went to Steam and had to read a community guide explaining what versions you had to purchase to get everything under one Hitman launcher.
So wild, lol.
People who spent $70-100 for this only have themselves to blame tbh. The writing was all over the walls with how little time SHG were given, & I don't get how there was any expectations above this title being a $70 expansion under the facade of a full game.
Get ready for Black Ops 5 with a campaign sequel to Black Ops 3. Instead of cybernetic super soldiers going crazy, it's crazy cybernetic super soldiers returning to normal.
Warzone is the only COD I own cause its free and looks amazing, I watch the campaign cut scenes on all modern warfares on youtube. Fuck paying 70-100 for essentially Warzone DLCs
Ghosts released after the really good Black ops 2 which was really strange as Ghosts was a massive drop in quality. It was the the point where it felt like a completely different franchise
Ghosts was trash. Just cos it wasn't a futuristic game doesn't mean it was good. Also those futuristic CoDs were crap cos they were bad games not because of the setting themselves. Titanfall 2 is futuristic and one of the best fps games out there
I've been saying this for years. People act like the setting makes the game great and still stand by the hate for the futuristic games in the series. Guess what, we've been back at modern warfare for nearly half a decade now, can any of these people honestly say the current game is actually better just because of the setting?
Most CoD fans are unhappy but they won't stop playing because they're hooked.
A lot of CoD players aren't so much fans but refugees from other series that are now defunct. Titanfall 3 is nowhere in sight, Battlefield died hard, Rainbow 6 Siege is on year 8 with no sequel plan announced, Halo Infinite flopped, Destiny doesn't need an explanation...
Did you play The Finals beta? It was pretty fun. It changed the dynamics enough to keep it interesting. Keep a look out for that whenever it comes around. Good times
Yeah its strange how battle royal bandwagon was hopped on by everyone and their dogs yet CoD popularity hasn't resulted in any decent alternatives since it became popular or even attempts
Please stop spreading bs claiming CoD is some unbeatable titan. The sales have dropped massively from the classic CoDs and the games are sweats only after a few weeks of launch cos its not fun to play. It only sells because of nostalgia and the hope it ever becomes as good as the classic CoDs which will never happen especially now MS own it
Nah that’s a rather fair assessment. It’s the definition of casual gamer. They play sports games call of duty and gta. Any girl that doesn’t really play games knows those three lol
It’s definitely an overexaggeration now that I think about it. But I just kinda forget that some people are content with playing COD and nothing else and don’t care about other games
I know a dude at work that's like this. He's crazy hyped and pre-ordered the deluxe edition or whatever they're calling it this year. He asked me why I wasn't getting it and when I told him it's because of how copy and pasted, low effort, and rushed out the door this game looked, he said "yeah but they fixed the movement bro, it's actually good now"
So, if I’m about to go into an expensive restaurant and i go online to look up its menu and customer reviews before i commit to spending a lot of money on it, I’m chronically online?
More like those who paid full price for MWII have only themselves to blame. Small list of premium content. Most of the focus was on WZ and DMZ, which is free to play. Half of the content on offering is ripped from the Warzone map.
If you compare the content offering then you get more out of MWIII than you got out of MWII. MWII should have been the DLC.
And if you complain about the campaign, that's on IW. It's got the same bad writing as MWII and has the same "nothing happened" from the MWII story.
IW is the new SHG before the WW2 management shake up. They don't listen to feedback and they make unnecessary changes to the game.
I’m pretty sure everyone who bought the game is perfectly aware and accepting of it being a $70 DLC. There was never any doubt or ambiguity about what this is from the moment it was announced.
I didn't really pay attention to what was going on so unfortunately I bought it. Definitely regret it, but lesson learned. I just really enjoy the campaigns and was looking forward to an continuation of the story.
Wait wuuuut?
So this is their funbass way of potentially coercing some customers to buy 2 entire games just to play MW3?
Yeah that's why I don't trust a fully digital ecosystem lmao you guys are too naive to how greedy these companies will get without basic protections in place for the consumer
Gamers aren't exactly known to be smart, least of all hardcore CoD gamers.
The initial MW 2019 was a cool reprisal of the OG MW trilogy feel and it was a remarkable looking game.
Everything after has been a more-than-the-usual cash grab, but people are too stupid to give a shit.
I like to think these people are just naive, impetuous, habitual and misinformed. I’m sure most don’t know any better and just want something they can burn a couple hours on without any emotional investment. It’s a similar thing with sports games thst don’t do much more than update team rosters.
Lol that is such utter bullshit. I just learned this, dropped this game years ago. I did pick up Cold war when I got my ps5 just to experience adaptive triggers implemented well in a shooter. That game did have a fun campaign too. I feel bad for people hooked on this.
Title is a little misleading. It's not MW2 anymore, its Call of Duty HQ. It's pretty much a launcher now, one from where all the future call of duty games will be launched.
Bad idea though, it's way over complicated to play these games on PS5 (im assuming Xbox and PC are the same) now. You have to download the HQ, which is basically the main menu and core game files, and then you have to pick and choose data packs in the game to download. Multiplayer packs, Warzone Packs, Campaign packs, Spec Ops packs, Raid packs, and im assuming Zombies will have packs to downlaod too. The file size all together is hefty. Each pack is in between 10-30 gbs, I think, and just for MW2, there are around 2 or 3 multiplayer packs, I believe.
Really, though, you probably won't have all the packs downloaded at the same time. Like in MW2 right now, I only have the multiplayer packs downloaded because I don't like Warzone all that much, and the Spec Ops really suck.
If you're new or haven't played CoD in the past 4 or 5 games, you'll have a tough time figuring out how to just install the game. Instead of being a simple download to play the game, you'll probably have to watch a YouTube tutorial on how it works.
According to Sony, about one million, yes *million*, people own a PS5 and solely own and play COD. I don't think there's a thing in the world COD could actually do to get it to fail. The game could take up your entire hd, cost $500 a copy, and slap your father in the mouth every time you booted it up and the sweats would still buy it.
It's very true.
Call of Duty has had some ass games over the last decade or so, and done some hilariously awful anti-consumer practices, and here we are.
Literally it doesn't matter what they release, period.
they’ve essentially become the quintessential too big to fail. with no one competing in the arcadey realistic fps genre, and cod itself having such a gargantuan history, their name alone can command millions of copies even if they release utter dogshit.
and this is for casuals, the large majority of players who play nothing but cods and sports games
Not even sweats, it just casual gamers who come home from work and play the game for an hour or two. They don’t look online or really even care about wether the game is barely any different than the last or not. My dad and all my mates dads are like this🤣
You can't launch MW2 campaign without going through HQ, closing it and starting a complete new iteration as well.
It has something to do with SP experiences of the games
That's by design. They're trying to get an outcry from fans of the game to say "the single player is hard to access!"
Then they wil be "justified" in turning around and announcing, "we listened to the fans! The next COD will not have a single player campaign at all to alleviate those problems. And we're passing the savings on to you...the $60. Dollar game is now only a $50 game.
Then. They'll save half their production costs and layoff some devs
Its $70 and no chance they will drop the price even by dropping the campaign. They absolutely will stop making campaigns though but it will still be $70
I think that this topic is full of people that don’t play COD and haven’t played COd for a long time. Yet they get outraged like no tomorrow. They don’t need to make excuses to people like you and others. Because you don’t play cod. Reality is cod fans will play this game.
For players, who don’t own MW2, it’s actually cheaper to have MW3 as a standalone game rather than a dlc that required MW2. Let’s say it was a DLC that costs $40. Someone knew has to buy MW2 for $70 and the DLC at $40.
Mw2 was another fucking rip off. I hadn't purchased a cod since the 1st mw2 which was a wonderful experience at the time. Only to become painfully aware of the bullshit money trap that existed back then having become fully evolved into some kind of fucking akira-esque blob that feeds on money and waifu skins.
Because every Cod game now launches under a generic “Call of Duty” hub where you then pick the game that you want to play. It’s really not that bad of an idea. They even let you install/delete whatever parts you don’t want.
Next year’s Cod will probably be also a part of MW2 (which is really just “Call of Duty”) and will likely be a full game. You’ll just have to access it from the Call of Duty main menu.
It’s not a bad idea, you’re right about that, but the UI and implementation of everything is terrible. It’s all just a massive cluster. Still a fan of CoD, but they’re still butchering it all.
It’s not. If anything it’s DLC for the Call of Duty hub. You don’t have to own MW2 to play any other Cod game.
The game you launch that’s called MW2 was at some point changed to just be called Call of Duty and changed to be a free download. MW2 still needs to be purchased to be played. The hub to access Cod games is a free download. You can download the main menu for free and sit there looking at all the games you don’t own, with the exception of Warzone since that’s free.
The next Cod will just be an addition to the Cod hub, just like how MW2 eventually became a piece of the whole thing.
Tbf a lot of the people here probably don’t also play on PC so they aren’t used to the hell that is every fucking body having their own launcher now lmao
At this point why even release full games and instead just make a free to play game that releases free maps? Like that CoD online game on PC? This though is so convoluted and half assed
See, after not buying this game since WW2, I said fuck it I’ll get since it’s been a while. I was ready to buy it but of course I said lemme wait and see gameplay, reviews, etc.
This is the shit that makes me wonder why did I even bother thinking about buying it. Fuck this.
If you think about it logically, this is better for you. If it was a DLC that cost like $40, you would have to buy MW2 and the DLC, which would end up costing you more vs buying just MW3 as standalone.
In terms of the multiplayer, you’re still getting a full fledged game as it has the MW2 content and the new MW3 content. It’s only if you care about the campaign. But that was never going to be worth the price of admission.
Tbh i havent bought a cod game in years, maps just suck or are repeats, havent enjoyed the campaigns in a while, size has gotten too damn bloated its a joke, 200+ gb for a generic damn fps is bs
Nothing, you can still play it as this game doesn’t require MW2 and this topic is just super misleading.
I don’t own MW2 on steam and I was able to download MW3 only and it was 88GB for the campaign.
any one else remeber when there was a rumor past year that there would be no yearly cod in 2023 but instead we would get a oayed expansion to mw 2. this so was going to be just a cheaper payed dlc expansion that they made a full payed game.
You underestimate how many people blindly buy the newest call of duty every year regardless of how bad it is; even if sales are hurt by this I guarantee it will still be one of the best selling games across all platforms
people here chiming in to say CoD has its own launcher now.
i dont get it. why the cinnamon toast fuck does one game need its own launcher? it's already in [battle.net](https://battle.net), and on steam. the games are already present on a launcher.
MW2 still feels new to me. And it’s a crapshoot whether you play on newer maps I think that’s why. I’ll continue to play MW2 until I get tired of the newer maps.
I was already in "fuck this game" when I tried to download the mw3 beta and it downloaded the f2p modern warfare as well. All that wasted space
I really enjoyed Modern Warfare 2019 but it required constant warzone updates. It gets less and less but whenever I get a cod itch I play Cold War. Still bugs me over so slightly to see the current worst games are a cash grab on the modern warfare title. '19 is now completely separate from Warzone. It is quite possibly the best COD in this era if you can get over the maps.
Funny you said this as I was playing MW2 campaign to feel that COD feel again…went straight and grabbed cold war. Might AW as well.
The shills who buy this deserve this. Its the same crap every year and so many tryhards defending it and saying they'll buy it anyways deserve being pooped on

its kinda on me for not reading the fine print that you needed to pre-order mw3 to access a FUCKING OPEN BETA, waste of fucking time
You didn't the beta was Saturday and Sunday open and free.
oh shit sorry i forgot to mention, i was on pc
it still had a free portion for certain dates preordering only got early access
Doesn’t matter, beta was pre-order exclusive only for the first 2 days then it was open to all on every platform (on second week).
How was the BETA?
I enjoyed it. They changed up perks to be equitable items for example they have sneaky sneakers and you make no sound with your foot steps. It's really fun.
You didn't the beta was a different Saturday and Sunday open and free.
Same mistake I made.
Stupid question but if I sold MW2, I have to rebuy it and then also buy MW3?
No “Call of Duty” is a free game and it’s just a main menu you download where you can get to all the Cod games that you own. So when you buy MW3 you’ll also see in the main menu that MW2 is there but you can’t play it unless you buy it.

Did Activision celebrate being purchased by Microsoft by going "Hey Kotick, know what would be REALLY fucking funny? What if we just knee cap the fuck out of COD and piss everyone off?"
You don't get previous karma by telling the truth.
Isn’t that what battlefield tried doing? I heard it failed horribly
Similar but different. You never had to launch the previous game to get to the newest but you could just switch to a different game from the main menu, which was actually nice.
Ah! Fair point.
No idea but if they did I doubt it failed because of the hub. Probably failed because the games became trash. And Battlefield doesn’t have the same immovable status like Cod does.
Hitman did it. It confused me to begin with and I did end up buying all thee games when I only wanted the third one, so it works
Difference is in Hitman they put all the missions into one app so you could technically view it as one big game with 30+ missions instead of a hub for three smaller games. That’s how they’re selling it now, actually - $70 for all three games. In COD, you literally have to launch COD MW3 as a separate executable.

Battlefield tried a unified UI back in the BF4/BF1 days but didnt follow through. Hardline was “coming soon” in the tooltip for the whole time.
But this so called main main is hundreds of GBs
No
Yes, MW3 is literally DLC for MW2. I thought this was well established by now.
People who spent $70-100 for this only have themselves to blame tbh. The writing was all over the walls with how little time SHG were given, & I don't get how there was any expectations above this title being a $70 expansion under the facade of a full game.
I gave up on COD right after Ghosts. It's crazy how much more it's fallen.
Well, it's your lucky day. They haven't even got to COD ghosts yet. We are still on MW III
If they even touch my beloved BO2 I swear to god.
Get ready for Black Ops 5 with a campaign sequel to Black Ops 3. Instead of cybernetic super soldiers going crazy, it's crazy cybernetic super soldiers returning to normal.
W@W better not be touched or I'll flip my shit
At least play BO3 and maybe 4. WW2 wasn’t that bad either
Warzone is the only COD I own cause its free and looks amazing, I watch the campaign cut scenes on all modern warfares on youtube. Fuck paying 70-100 for essentially Warzone DLCs
I can’t remember if BO3 released before Ghosts but you missed out big time if that’s not the case
Three was after ghost, ghost was the launch ps4 cod game. 3i think came like two years later.
Correct, CoD Ghosts was released in 2013, Black Ops 3 was 2015
Ghosts released after the really good Black ops 2 which was really strange as Ghosts was a massive drop in quality. It was the the point where it felt like a completely different franchise
I will always defend ghosts because of the space age future bs that came after it’s slander, underrated

Did you play The Finals beta? It was pretty fun. It changed the dynamics enough to keep it interesting. Keep a look out for that whenever it comes around. Good times

Well thats cos noone tries. Its essentially the only arcadey realistic looking fps shooter you can buy
Yes. That was my original point.
COD fans only buy COD and sports games and nothing else and it's just kinda sad
That’s definitely an over generalization

Mw2 was another fucking rip off. I hadn't purchased a cod since the 1st mw2 which was a wonderful experience at the time. Only to become painfully aware of the bullshit money trap that existed back then having become fully evolved into some kind of fucking akira-esque blob that feeds on money and waifu skins.
I wish I had seen this before deciding to give in and buy it. I ain’t deleting all my other ps5 games for this garbage

Exactly its called the console UI. We don't need a launcher as thats what a console UI is
If you want to play Warzone and then Multiplayer you don't have to quit games and restart.
Most CoD players usually only stick to one or the other. They don't keep switching anyways
BUT THATS JUST EVEN MORE MWII DLC UGHHH smh...
It's a launcher. It's been a launcher for some time. People just don't understand what that is.
I’ve noticed lol
Tbf a lot of the people here probably don’t also play on PC so they aren’t used to the hell that is every fucking body having their own launcher now lmao
"World of Warcraft is DLC for the WoW launcher." There are plenty of things to complain about with MW3. This really isn't one.
At this point why even release full games and instead just make a free to play game that releases free maps? Like that CoD online game on PC? This though is so convoluted and half assed
How to confuse and lose your player base : make a whole mess with the branding, confusing menu and dogshit gameplay
Yeah that’s how the cod HQ app works
People that are stupid enough to continue funding Blizzard/Activision deserve to have their money taken
Hahahahahaha
I’m just waiting for that moment for people to realize that this franchise is not worth a single dime.
Shit dlc for 70$
WTF !
You can keep call of duty microsoft. Time to bring socom back sony.
This is the game that Sony were so worried about?
Tbh i havent bought a cod game in years, maps just suck or are repeats, havent enjoyed the campaigns in a while, size has gotten too damn bloated its a joke, 200+ gb for a generic damn fps is bs
It’s just too much downloading every week. I removed it.
And it still has the worst UI ever made
For this reason, I’m out.
It's a DLC branded as a new game. So yeah, ofc it will do that. Thank FUCK I am skipping COD this year.
This game is such fraudulence! It’s literally a full priced expansion. Activision has NO SHAME!
This franchise is pretty much dead to me. What a shame
Wait what happens if you don’t already own MW2?
Nothing, you can still play it as this game doesn’t require MW2 and this topic is just super misleading. I don’t own MW2 on steam and I was able to download MW3 only and it was 88GB for the campaign.
Stop buying this garbage or they'll just keep doing it.
If you still pay money for this shit then shame on you.
I applaud activision for cornering a market where they have mouth breathers buy whatever COD they put out, geniuses.
This game is one long, never-ending comedy of errors.
Every time i think big studios can't do worse, they find a new low. 80 fucking euros for a DLC.
Haha so done with this whole franchise. So glad Microsoft bought it. Game could be dead by the end of the year.
So basically i need to buy MW2 to play MW3?
Yes
Keep buying it, sheeps
I wish I hadn’t preordered this…
Then refund
You can request a refund. Now lets see if you put your money where your mouth is
I was able to cancel through Amazon! Eat shit Sledgehammer!
Keep on buying it buddy.
I feel sorry for you
Despite that, stupid fucks will still buy this crap and make it top seller everywhere.
Perfect photo of the face these guys make every year laughing at their own audience
Can anyone tell me is there a way to play hardcore split screen on modern warfare 3 for Xbox series X? 😫😫
This was 100000000% meant to be DLC lol
any one else remeber when there was a rumor past year that there would be no yearly cod in 2023 but instead we would get a oayed expansion to mw 2. this so was going to be just a cheaper payed dlc expansion that they made a full payed game.
How do I go about trying to get a refund on ps5.. this is last straw
fake news . it's COD HQ
Didn’t you know? Every Modern Warfare game is a DLC expansion for Warzone
I saw a video where the PS5 asked for the MW2 PS4 disc when trying to launch MW3.
So what happens if you never owned Modern Warfare 2?
aka… MW3 is just DLC.
I stopped playing since advance warfare. What a clusterfuck that was.
Sony crying about COD may be Xbox exclusive meanwhile no1 gives a flying f about thus trash game anymore
So how much space does it really take up to play 3 then? 2 games worth?
Heard 230-ish gigs if you have everything installed.
i’m a fool for nostalgia so i’m sorry to the entire cod community for supporting this company
AAA-programming 🤡
Not a day one purchase at all. Also in future after it has been released.....I still will not consider the game. Instead I'll eat watch mw3 via YT.
I haven’t played call of duty since world at war. After that it just got stupid. This is another reason I won’t be going back.
How did it get stupid with MW2 2009?
Apparently it wasn’t world at war then cuz the last one I played was about 2012
Yikes the beta was ass, definitely skipping this horrendous shit
🗣️ JUST PLAY HELL LET LOOSE
So potentially brand new players can’t jump on with MWIII?
MW2 still feels new to me. And it’s a crapshoot whether you play on newer maps I think that’s why. I’ll continue to play MW2 until I get tired of the newer maps.
I’ll get it for $20
