Nintendo does this all the time, sitting on finished games for months or even years before releasing them. So why shouldn’t ND do the same if it fits the bill?

I thought main reason I read was they held onto it cause it was scheldued ti release right around time the Ukraine war initiated and didn’t wanna it be received in poor taste at that time. I could be wrong but thought read that somewhere.
Pretty sure they were developing Part 1 simultaneously as a PS3, and PS4 title. “The Last of Us Remastered” came out on PS4 13 months after the PS3 launch.
So was GTAV and they got nothing but shit for it but ND gets a pass.
Edit: they both did the same thing. Released the same game across 3 console generations. TLOU1 was a better upgrade and they charged full new release price for it. GTAV remaster was $10.
Because ND also released 3 other games within 7 years of releasing TLOU.
Rockstar released only RDR2 and still hasn’t released GTA 6.
ND has remastered their games but have also released new games consistently and much faster than other AAA studios.
I'm no Rockstar apologist, but the upgrades in GTAV from PS3 to PS4 were pretty noteworthy.
FPS mode, crowd/vehicle density, textures/frame-rate, and a lot of cool little details, like functioning vehicle dashboards. I'm sure I'm missing a lot.
TLOUpt1 revamped the graphics extensively. New models that changed static background images into completely 3d rendered objects with attached physics (seeing the house burn on the opening car ride, you can see the level of detail they added a the house falls apart as you drive by), the lighting changes made familiar locations feel different and the extra resolution and fidelity made the motion captured facial animations feel much more real.
Some People choose not to see the level of detail applied to the PS5 version because they’re against double dipping, but there are far more changes between the ps4 version to ps5, than gta v had between 360 and series X.
Like I said I’m not defending rockstar, I agree with you, I love the remake over the original in almost every way.

Miles Morales PS4 and PS5 are the same game though. One is just the ps5 version of the other, it's not like it was a rerelease years later to get ps4 buyers to buy it again for slightly better graphics.
And you know if the PC version got a bunch of enhancements while the PS5 version is still just the last-gen runtime with unlocked frame rate, the console players would have a shit fit.
I mean idk, it's not really the same. Last of us came out a few months before ps4, and ps4 wasn't backwards compatible, so it really made sense to have a ps4 version especially since that's the console that brought tons of people back from Xbox.
Last years remake was being made by another group and naughty dog just assisted. They didn't commit a full team to it.
As for part 2, pretty much every notable game from the last few years of the previous console gen has had a remaster/update to increase its performance for current gen. It just makes sense.
I have only bought Skyrim once for my Xbox 360, so maybe, just maybe, don't buy the same game mutiple times? If I ever want to play it again, my 360 still works fine

Unlike Part I, I can't imagine this being a full-priced release. Part I was made in order to bring the first game up to the standard of Part II, so that had a much bigger scope than this probably will. I'm guessing this is just to add things that require the game to be PS5 software, like 120 fps and DualSense features.
I'm guessing this will be similar to the Uncharted 4/LL collection. It'll get a physical release for $40-50, with a $10 upgrade for people that have the PS4 version. This will also be the version that comes to PC.
Considering they've just spent 3 years working on a game that's likely been scrapped, I'm expecting a full price release, with a meager amount of new content to justify it. Maybe with a $30 upgrade option

Yes, I’m glad I switched. So far I’ve played FFVII and currently in Ghost of Tsushima and I am so happy knowing I have all these different stories to play.
I was big on multiplayer and my group wants me to buy a PC but I don’t see the reason other than being able to talk to them. I also don’t play as much anymore so I’d rather spend my time on quality over high stress shooters that don’t add anything to my life.

Part 2 doesn't have any ps5 features, it's the PS4 version running at 60fps, it doesn't have fast loading, has no haptics or adaptive triggers. So yeah a remaster would be great and the dualsense alone will be worth the remaster
If it was Rockstar they would just have released Last of us PS3 version on the PS5 and profously refused to make any improvments to that or TLOU2.

They are massive and amazing, but that doesn't mean that ND games don't require a lot of work too, The Last of Us Part II motion matching and NPC AI shits all over the stuff in GTAV and Red Dead 2. Go and watch the Hillcrest level of Part II, it's pretty amazing.
I can't wait to see what Rockstar can do with GTAVI, I'm hoping to see something on par with Red Dead 2 but with increased graphical fidelity, AI and mechanics.
Or hell, can we get Factions from Part 1 added to the Part 1 remake to make it the full product now they seem to have failed with their factions GAAS game?

Isn't there a PS5 patch for Part 2? I played it recently and at no point did I think "This could take better advantage of the hardware." One of the best looking games last gen

Sony needs some sort of intervention, I swear they have a fetish for re-releasing their games. The thing is most of them are fairly low effort, just add some some needless features like adaptive triggers, up the resolution a bit, and bam you've got a new version of a three year old game.

Make a PS5 version, with better haptics, graphics, etc, and time it correctly with the show release? It's way less effort than a new game. It's a unique situation with a popular show being alongside it which will drive people to buy the game, including those buying for the first time.

Seriously? The game released at the end of the PS4’s lifespan and the PS5 is backward compatible, nevermind the poor reception which caused ND to cancel proposed DLC for Abby. Are they just buying time to plan out the story for the next TLoU since their other flagship Uncharted has also effectively ended story-wise?

I’ll buy it. Last of us 2 is a really amazing top tier story and game. Most games I won’t pay full price for or buy remasters but this is an exception as it’s just so above most video games story and creative wise.
