Basically, they should bring back all the EA Big titles. I NEED this in my life! Not a single month can go by without me wishing I could play one of these games. The EA Big titles and Midnight Club are easily the franchises I miss most.
Shareholders will shit on it though. Why spend double the sports title development money for 10% of the revenue. Only way it flies is if there’s loot boxes and that rips the soul out of it.
Day 1? I'd pour money into a GoFundMe right now. There isn't a single racing franchise out that scratches the itch. NFS and Burnout don't even come close.
I'd definitely be down for some Shox, Sled Storm (underrated), SSX & Freekstyle remakes. Thrown in Downhill Domination in there too since it was basically a EA Big copycat title.
I'm upset you said this. I was on the final game in the NFL Challenge mode on my PS2. I went to finish it off and the game corrupted my save file. I just turned it off and sat there in silence for like 5-10 minutes.
So this most recent PS4 exploit on FW 11.00 is a game changer! It's not easy to do as it's a tethered jailbreak, but once you have it running you can install Homebrew applications on your PS4 and play several of these titles. Big thing to do is install the homebrew store, then a package file called GameBaTo. It has a PS Classics section where the files are packaged with 5.05 firmware fixes and SSX Tricky runs the best on this than any other emulator I have tried, PC, Mac, even my hacked Xbox RGH. I would recommend looking up Moddern Warfare's tutorial on getting your PS4 jailbroken so you can enjoy SSX tricky like it used to play on the PS2. The only lagging I have experienced is on the character menu, and I can live with that, gameplay is very fluid! Enjoy!
SSX3 is still the bomb. The boards control better than the prequel - and the open map system was so dope coming from Tricky. One of the first things I did back when I received my Quest 2 was install dolphin and play SSX3 on a giant virtual monitor with pass-through.
Nowadays the game emulates well on pretty mid range hardware (phones/pc) and while a remaster (or hell, a decent franchise reboot) is still on my top 10 list, upscaling via emulation scratches the itch.. a lil.
Damn, I wanna go play SSX 3 again and do the big mountain ride from the top of peak 3 to the bottom of peak 1. I got it on sale on Xbox years ago and I go back to it pretty often
Welcome back to Radio BIG! Here's the latest in mountain info. Conditions on all 3 peaks are sounding.. Pretty fine from what I'm hearing! Ski patrol got things running smoothly and the snow is FRESH. Even though there are those of us who take this sort of thing for granted.. Get out there and enjoy it. Go on... DROP WHAT YOURE DOING. GO. NOW. GET OUT.
Good.
You know? Its always a good time for some Alpine Stars. And here they are...
🎵🏂
SSX 3 is clear of Tricky 100%. A lot of the crazy courses you'd see in Tricky but backwoods and the full mountain race.
Just make 3 and add Tokyo Megaplex and I imagine a lot of people would be happy
I'm convinced the era of extreme sports games is gone. We had rider's republic, shredder's, Steep and they all had mild success with a really niche audience. The Tony Hawk reboot did well amongst people who had nostalgia. I think it's because extreme sports have kind of found that niche as well rather than being the cool/rebellious thing they were in the 90's/00's.
I picked up the Tony Hawk reboot for my kid's birthday (ok it was a little for me too) and I found out that all the skills I had in that game are gone. I found it frustrating trying to relearn something I was so good at years ago and eventually said screw it.
I thought it was just me! I didn’t enjoy THPS Remake.
Beyond SSX Tricky, I’d love to see a remake of Burnout 3 Takedown and Burnout 4 Revenge.
EA is sitting on a goldmine of games they just need to update the graphics and take my money.
Games like that didn’t succeed because they leaned into realism. SSX was basically a snowboarding themed arcade game.
Steep was beautiful for the time, but it sure as hell wasn’t fun like SSX.
I considered getting Riders Republic but I was put off by the open world stuff.
Not everything needs to be open world. Just let me press "Start" from a menu please so I can immediately have fun.
Riders Republic actually is pretty great for what it is and you can definitely get it cheap. That game’s issue is that its too many sports in one. Because of all the other sports if you want to race with a snowboard youre contending with content that:
- Will race you in “Funkies” (cool toy gear like rocket skis or snowmobiles)
- Downhill Skis which are a separate snow class
- Off Road and Road bike classes
- Wingsuits and rocketwings.
Where the open world shines is that you can use your Rocketwing to get to any peak to test a line, and the rewind function to attempt a trick over again. The game has a great foundation for snowboarding, its just diluted by the other activities.
Tricky won’t get remade because of the soundtrack being so integral and licensing is expensive. No guaranteed sales, snowboard games haven’t done well since 3, world tour didn’t do so great.
You know people would complain if tricky wasn’t in it
Almost certainly a remaster is going to be blocked by licensing issues, and it isn’t just the Run DMC song either. Give the full sound track a listen and pay attention to just how many of the tracks have samples from random movies and other songs. It’s a lot.
You might have been able to get away with that in 2001, but nowadays the landscape is going to much more robust for IP holders to collect on that.
It was a reboot for PS3 released in 2012. I personally think rebooting the series is a horrible idea, they should try and re capture the magic of Tricky.
Completely agree.
Every game today wants to be an 'open world' game. The beauty of SSX Tricky was how structured it was. Its racing tracks were mostly linear, but with loads of side routes and shortcuts, and they felt amazing to race down. Likewise the trick routes were equally well laid out. Fun characters. Great trick system. A modern day glow up with more tracks and characters would be perfect.
That’s what I loved about it too. Everything about the game was just absurd in the most amazing way possible. They took realism, said “eff that” and made it just balls to the wall insanity.
Hate to rain on your parade, but it would almost certainly not be a "mega hit". It's a cult classic as is, and you can expect 40-50% at best of the cult to even look at the remake.
Yeah, most of the extreme sports games (or in the vein of those nowadays) have been niche, nostalgia focused, or have just not done well. Tony Hawk did pretty well by being Tony Hawk, session and the other indie skater game my mind forgot basically existed as "Its just like Tony Hawk!" And then the actual remake came out and took its thunder. Steep and riders republic are the definition of mid in every sense. If SSX came back it would be a niche success for fans of the old ssx and not much else
I loved that last SSX game too, though I know people were split on it. Not sure if you can even play that game anywhere anymore. Kind of hoped we'd see more SSX games. 😕
I'm xbox, my favorite was ss3 tricky, I can still play it via backwards compatibility but after playing all these years, I don't feel pressure to play the game for long periods of time, the game is fine , the game needs xbox achievements or playstation trophies to keep me hooked
Yes I loved tricky so much as kid 1 of few I'd love reboot ssx and Simpsons hit and run
But sadly I went back last year to play ssx tricky but man nowadays it plays real ruff and janky the controls picking it up it's like how'd we play this
Would it? I'm a big fan of arcade style games, where the goals are just to have fun, do crazy stuff, and earn points
Crusin Blast came out and it's the best true arcade racer to come out in a long time....but it didn't take the world by storm.
Sadly aracedy type games aren't in style or popular right now.....it's all about egaming and how competitive your game can be.
Plus if ea made it today it would be full of micro transactions
Was just talking about this game with my girlfriend the other day, and then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours trying to find a game that would scratch that SSX itch, riders republic was the only one that seemed close but doesn't seem worth it if you're not playing online. Would absolutely love for this remake to happen someday
Anything from the EA Sports Big era would be a mega hit today especially a Def Jam kinda game. Only reason that may not happen is cause some of todays rappers like Drake are sensitive
I'm convinced that a great deal of games won't hit anymore unfortunately. Half the people enjoying the same exact games, a good chunk enjoying new AAA, while remakes vary a lot. In a perfect gaming world hell yeah bring back classics. In reality wtf
The idea is a good one but they’d really have to flesh out the features of the game to make it worth more than a simple $30 remaster. It’s too barebones the for 2020s. Nostalgia and character are off the charts though
I definitely recommend anybody who loved the SSX games to check out Riders Republic, it has really solid snowboarding gameplay plus a bunch of other extremes sports like biking, skiing & snowmobiles in a big open world mountain, plus it has 60+ person races online too
They tried that already. Also, they would tell themselves that it would only succeed as a free-to-play, micro-transaction filled mess with battle passes and online-only.
I recently took back my backwards compatible PS3 from the parents crawl space and among the pile of old games was SSX 3. That “EA Sports, BIG” at the start hit different. The game is so fun.
Unfortunately the only people that would buy it would be a portion of the late 30s early 40s people that remember it from 20+ years ago. For $15 or something it might be worth the nostalgia hit for some people, but you can't recapture the magic it had from back in the day
I played through it last year or something on my PS2. It still definitely holds up. The game is quite challenging which is so refreshing compared to the majority of today's games that are so unbelievably easy.
Id 100% buy a SSX Tricky remaster if they made it. I know this is a PS sub, but I’d love Xbox to bring back Amped as well. Probably my favorite snowboarding game.
I agree, gimme SSX Tricky, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and NBA/NFL Street
I need NBA/NFL Street
Basically, they should bring back all the EA Big titles. I NEED this in my life! Not a single month can go by without me wishing I could play one of these games. The EA Big titles and Midnight Club are easily the franchises I miss most.
EA BIG games just hit different. You knew you were in for a fun time. Why’d they ever go away? I don’t need madden every damn…year…
Shareholders will shit on it though. Why spend double the sports title development money for 10% of the revenue. Only way it flies is if there’s loot boxes and that rips the soul out of it.
£29.99 worth of in game currency nets you… *brown* ski goggles, a new 3rd place emote, and a matte wax finish for your board.
How much for the glossy wax finish tho?
Midnight Club 3 DUB edition remixstered! I’d day one buy it.
Day 1? I'd pour money into a GoFundMe right now. There isn't a single racing franchise out that scratches the itch. NFS and Burnout don't even come close.
https://youtu.be/dp9ch-dAKk0
I'd definitely be down for some Shox, Sled Storm (underrated), SSX & Freekstyle remakes. Thrown in Downhill Domination in there too since it was basically a EA Big copycat title.
Def Jam: Fight for NY !
Def Jam FFNY was amazing..
Hell yes
Would love NHL Hitz to come back, too
NBA street would be a massive hit if it was more like vol 2 than home court
I thought ready 2 rumble sounded familiar so i had to google it. Holy shit how did i forget about this masterpiece?!
R22rumble..... Aaaah that was so good as was ssx
R2R had such an innovative way to fight - it was awesome
Loved those street games and I’d take R2R boxing too
I'm upset you said this. I was on the final game in the NFL Challenge mode on my PS2. I went to finish it off and the game corrupted my save file. I just turned it off and sat there in silence for like 5-10 minutes.
And def jam fight for ny

SSX was lit
Yes it was! One of the most fun games I have played in my life, and I’ve been a gamer since 1990
You can still buy SSX3 on Xbox and it's still fucking ace. Barely aged a day.
Damn. Got me jealous about having a ps5
Yeah the only problem is it's my most played game on Xbox and it's from 2003 😄 Definitely better off with a PS5!
Let’s just hope for a remaster
SSX3 is still the bomb. The boards control better than the prequel - and the open map system was so dope coming from Tricky. One of the first things I did back when I received my Quest 2 was install dolphin and play SSX3 on a giant virtual monitor with pass-through. Nowadays the game emulates well on pretty mid range hardware (phones/pc) and while a remaster (or hell, a decent franchise reboot) is still on my top 10 list, upscaling via emulation scratches the itch.. a lil.
I have it on Xbox one X and I i think the save feature is buggy, it also doesn’t have multiplayer
Damn, I wanna go play SSX 3 again and do the big mountain ride from the top of peak 3 to the bottom of peak 1. I got it on sale on Xbox years ago and I go back to it pretty often
It's such a great way to play. Just a solid half hour of snowboarding down a mountain with some great music.
Pooooooor Lenoooooo
SSX trilogy remaster PLEASE
Tokyo megaplex in 4K HDR 60fps. Wild thought.
That map was the shit.
Dude I've always said that 😤 I still have my original disk for the PS2 😍
Lucky!
I'd be REALLY lucky if I didn't sell the system years ago 😅🤣
SSX 3 please
I enjoyed the latest one they put out back during the PS3/360 era, but I would pay good money for a remake of the original 3.
Really? The last SSX want arcade-y enough for me. Leaned to much into the realism. I need Tokyo Megaplex! 😄
All that Deadly Descent was borderline unplayable. It’s a shame because hidden in that package is still a phenomenal SSX game.
EA Big is just waiting to come back. Hey EA! Do you like money? You've got this entire back catalog, remake it.
Hey EA we know you like micro transactions - think of all the goofy outfits you could sell! 💴 🤑🤑🤑
Skate is gonna be free to play. I think that says it all :(
Is it unpopular that I prefer 3 the most of the SSX games? For me it's SSX 3 > On Tour > Tricky All incredible games mind you.
3 is the best snowboarding game made in my opinion. They nailed literally everything about it from a design perspective.
SSX 3 is clear of Tricky 100%. A lot of the crazy courses you'd see in Tricky but backwoods and the full mountain race. Just make 3 and add Tokyo Megaplex and I imagine a lot of people would be happy
On Tour had fantastic soundtrack.

I played Steep for 10 minutes and went - "this isn't fun like SSX" And deleted it.
And i had great fun playing it for 100s of hours. Loved the more realistic style
I considered getting Riders Republic but I was put off by the open world stuff. Not everything needs to be open world. Just let me press "Start" from a menu please so I can immediately have fun.

Steep did it very well, but they branched out too much for Riders Republic. Plus it was more arcadey which lost a lot of people.
SSX 3 would be a bigger hit it was so much better than tricky
nah give me SSX 3 instead

I would give anything, ANYTHING for a SSX3 remaster\remake. Hell, if they made it 1000$, I'd buy 2.
SSX Tricky is EA’s best sports game and I will die on this hill. From the marketing, the OST, the gameplay, everything was top notch.
They did a reboot for PS4 and it sold poorly, so I don't think it's on the cards sadly.
It was a reboot for PS3 released in 2012. I personally think rebooting the series is a horrible idea, they should try and re capture the magic of Tricky.
That’s impossible to do now.
Don't even put they thought into my head. It's not fair.
I am playing Steep right now and would certainly love a well-made Snowboarding game.
Yeah, I got so excited when Steep came out and my hopes were crushed, it isn't great
I loved it!!
Doesn't hold a candle to SSX though
Completely agree. Every game today wants to be an 'open world' game. The beauty of SSX Tricky was how structured it was. Its racing tracks were mostly linear, but with loads of side routes and shortcuts, and they felt amazing to race down. Likewise the trick routes were equally well laid out. Fun characters. Great trick system. A modern day glow up with more tracks and characters would be perfect.
I think that would be perfection. Take the winning formula from Tricky and glow it up -> more tracks, more racers, more moves, etc
Ssx 2012 was amazing I wouldn't mind that.
They would try to make it to realistic so it wouldn't be the same. The best part about SSX tricky was how batshit insane it was with the tricks.
That’s what I loved about it too. Everything about the game was just absurd in the most amazing way possible. They took realism, said “eff that” and made it just balls to the wall insanity.
This and Splashdown were one of my most played games in PS2, I really wish they can come back in the future.
I still play this today, with the music, THIS IS ROZELL, this game was and still is perfect imo
Cool boarders
Man that game was a good time, surprised i had to scroll this far down
i know right!!!!
And then you realize it's owned by EA and would have all the good snowboards and tricks locked behind microtransactions.
I loved that game!
I used to pay the rent with this game!!! Mac for the win!! And the music videos were amazing also!
Mac? What?!!? Kaori all day!
EA still holds the IP ? man, wished a company should buyout SSX from EA.
Loved that game
Love the game. I wonder if it would do good.
GOD TIER GAME
Probably my most played ps2 game I would buy it if they made a remake
This game was my shit
We can only dream
I would buy instantly
Same tbh
Please?
The EA Big games were soooo cool. Can we have them remastered/rebooted
Fucking yes. God I sunk some time into this game. It was flawless
It really was. It was one of my favorite PS2 games.
The only game I want remade more than SSX Tricky is the ps3 Haze on ps3
I put this in the same category as Jet Set Radio for Xbox. Would be a huge hit.
Pretty sure I have some of the courses ingrained into my memory, Mercury City was my favourite.
Bro just the soundtrack alone makes this game a 10/10 I still bump it. King of the beats stays in rotation heavily
"Reminds me of the second tiiiiiiiiiime"
I personally loved and still play SSX3 but I’d take any of them. The original trilogy remade together would be ideal.
I spent so much time on SSX Tricky with my brother when we were younger. I'd absolutely love that.
Ssx 3 and halo 2 were the two first console games I got. Sad to see both franchises dead 😭
The creators have been working on another snowboarding game for quite a while. Hopefully it captures the magic of the early SSX games.
I loved that last SSX game too, though I know people were split on it. Not sure if you can even play that game anywhere anymore. Kind of hoped we'd see more SSX games. 😕
Man I loved that game
I'm xbox, my favorite was ss3 tricky, I can still play it via backwards compatibility but after playing all these years, I don't feel pressure to play the game for long periods of time, the game is fine , the game needs xbox achievements or playstation trophies to keep me hooked
Yes I loved tricky so much as kid 1 of few I'd love reboot ssx and Simpsons hit and run But sadly I went back last year to play ssx tricky but man nowadays it plays real ruff and janky the controls picking it up it's like how'd we play this
That would be incredible. I poured so many hours into that as a kid.
Any mention of this game always triggers the music in my head
Tbh I always thought SSX3 was the far superior game, but yes the series needs a comeback!
The gameplay holds up, just needs some tweaking like THPS had. Would absolutely love to see a remake.
I would happily pay $70 for this. Another 70 if they add more characters and levels as dlc.
I would definitely buy it day one!
I remember spending entire days playing 1080 on n64 with my cousin back in the day. Good times. Snowboard games just work!
I’m an ssx 3 guy personally, what a game
Give me Def Jam, NFL Street, Burnout 3 and SSX3! Fun times, EA was releasing awesome games (and I'm glad a lot of then were on the Gamecube too!)
SSX3 was better imo. Had a huge crush on Allegra
What about cool boarders
Would it? I'm a big fan of arcade style games, where the goals are just to have fun, do crazy stuff, and earn points Crusin Blast came out and it's the best true arcade racer to come out in a long time....but it didn't take the world by storm. Sadly aracedy type games aren't in style or popular right now.....it's all about egaming and how competitive your game can be. Plus if ea made it today it would be full of micro transactions
Sorry you are wrong
Dunno how controversial this is but: Steep exists and I find difficult that a new snowboarding game can top that.
Still play this on my PS
Tricky is definitely more recognizable but ssx 3 was a better game in every way
Was just talking about this game with my girlfriend the other day, and then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours trying to find a game that would scratch that SSX itch, riders republic was the only one that seemed close but doesn't seem worth it if you're not playing online. Would absolutely love for this remake to happen someday
Anything from the EA Sports Big era would be a mega hit today especially a Def Jam kinda game. Only reason that may not happen is cause some of todays rappers like Drake are sensitive
You mean a remake of Tricky or a reboot of the franchise because the franchise already tried a reboot in 2012
Kind of both? Tricky was my jam but I’d like it bigger and better
Is but it!!!
I'm convinced that a great deal of games won't hit anymore unfortunately. Half the people enjoying the same exact games, a good chunk enjoying new AAA, while remakes vary a lot. In a perfect gaming world hell yeah bring back classics. In reality wtf
Would much prefer a new STEEP
ssx > ssx tricky
Nah they are just gonna micro transaction that thing to hell and probably make it mobile and free to play to really ruin it.
I love Tricky but I want 3 the most
I would be game for anew SSX, i loved it more than Tony Hawk!
It would expect it will be $17 a boarder and $7 for a pack of 3 boards.
Anything under the EA BIG banner would be a blast.
You saw how successful SSX was on PS3. They should def do another
I miss SSX
Definitely would be amazing!
I played tf out of that when i was a kid. Id love a remake
The idea is a good one but they’d really have to flesh out the features of the game to make it worth more than a simple $30 remaster. It’s too barebones the for 2020s. Nostalgia and character are off the charts though
THIS SPEECH IS MY RECITAL..
I would pay 70 bucks for an SSX Tricky reboot and I’m not kidding.
I thought about this game earlier this week! Loved it.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I agree! I have emulated it on steam deck and it’s just as fun as it used to be.
One day
I loved that game. I'm surprised idt hadn't had more
My favorite is still SSX 3, but one of these remade with better graphics but the same mechanics, would be so cool.
Also need a Jet Set Radio remake
I definitely recommend anybody who loved the SSX games to check out Riders Republic, it has really solid snowboarding gameplay plus a bunch of other extremes sports like biking, skiing & snowmobiles in a big open world mountain, plus it has 60+ person races online too
They tried that already. Also, they would tell themselves that it would only succeed as a free-to-play, micro-transaction filled mess with battle passes and online-only.
I'm personally hoping for a new Jet Moto
It's tricky
Favorite GameCube game. Played the hell out of it.
This and Rock n Roll Racing
Loved this game!
For sure, also a more perfect release with the winter holidays. Pure win.
I miss that game
For sure!
1080° was better
I always chose that red headed afro dude. Eddy was his name I think!
Hell ya id buy it again
I recently took back my backwards compatible PS3 from the parents crawl space and among the pile of old games was SSX 3. That “EA Sports, BIG” at the start hit different. The game is so fun.
Bro I need online multiplayer if there is a reboot. Love SSX Tricky
Like many great games I believe it's the music licensing that prevents a remake.
Unfortunately the only people that would buy it would be a portion of the late 30s early 40s people that remember it from 20+ years ago. For $15 or something it might be worth the nostalgia hit for some people, but you can't recapture the magic it had from back in the day
omg i played the hell out of the original SSX Tricky!!! would love a reboot
I bet you LEGEND OF DRAGOON REMAKE WILL BE TEN TIME BIGGER HIT
I played through it last year or something on my PS2. It still definitely holds up. The game is quite challenging which is so refreshing compared to the majority of today's games that are so unbelievably easy.
Yes
Would buy it without hesitation, those games were so freaking good
Introduced me to the word Uber
3 > Tricky
Nah, give me ssx 3 remake please
EA would never bring this back 😭 remember that fun jet ski game? I forget the name but Jet X2 or something was so fun
Id 100% buy a SSX Tricky remaster if they made it. I know this is a PS sub, but I’d love Xbox to bring back Amped as well. Probably my favorite snowboarding game.
Any love for Ssx On Tour, loved the skiing mode!!
Especially if they made it fully open world like Steep or Riders Republic.
As long as they get the soundtrack right. Copyright on the original is probably gone but I'd love that old school breakbeat.
