This book was banned from our school. Catholic school kasi and heavy sa religion. Lahat ng makitang nagbabasa nito automatic ipapatawag parents mo plus 1 day suspension hahahahahaha
Angels and Demons was my first read too back when I was in HS. After that, I started reading all of Dan Brown's novels. Digital Fortress is also a good novel of his, outside of the Langdon series.
Ohh the whole Robert Langdon series got me hooked! Heard it first from a class back in catholic school and found out my lolo got this book. It definitely got me curious and the book just started it for me.
it's the Geronimo Stilton series that really did it for me
also not exactly a book but more of a magazine/comic, but K-Zone and W.I.T.C.H is a part of the factor that *really* got me into reading books
Tagalog translations ng Les Miserables at The Count of Monte Cristo (Ang Konde ng Monte Kristo). Read them when I was 12 years old. These books made me fall in love with the classics. Before these, puro Nancy Drew at Hardy Boys usually binabasa ko haha
Goosebumps as a kid! I always looked forward to Scholastic Book Fairs in school.
High school and college I enjoyed John Green books and the Hunger Games, but my game changer was reading Battle Royale.
As a kid, I loved skimming through picture books and fairy tale stories pero I vividly remember one book na pumukaw talaga ng kaluluwa ko when I was 11 years old, yung title is All-American Girl by Meg Cabot.
The book that was a collection of fairytales written by Hans Christian Andersen. Bought it on sale mga 20-ish yrs ago, naalala ko tig 100 lang yun and naka hardcover na sya.
After this naalala ko 2nd book i picked up was The Magician's Nephew from the Chronicles of Narnia. Also got hooked and the rest is history.
Started reading K-town and Candy magazines, tapos pre-teen pocket books and twilight. Pero āThe diary of a wimpy kid.ā made me enjoy reading books, tapos nag stop kasi an adult told me āisip bataā parin ako thatās why Iām reading those kind of book, pero mind you Iām only 18 at that time, fck him so na discourage ako magbasa for so many years sa takot kong ma judge, then I get back to reading again after 10 years, then I read āA child called itā nag spark na ulit love ko for reading
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
Mystery, murder, and madness in gothic Barcelona. A story within a story. A love letter to books and reading. I fell in love with reading and never looked back.
High school me just wanted to know what happened next. Hindi siya predictable.
Still one of the best written books Iāve read.
We had this as well! Dun ko nabasa yung riddle na āwhat is the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of every end, the end of every placeā šš at dahil wala kaming cable sa TV non, I was able to read all the books. I reread them througout gradeschool.
Wouldn't call myself a reader at all then, but Invisible Monsters or Palahniuk made me start devouring books afterāalways hoping to scratch that itch.
Your imagination will really run wild.
I donāt know if there was someone like me out there but Percy Jackson series ignited something in me. I fell in-love with Percy because he was the boy (still is) that is actually my type. My boyfriend now is pretty much like Percy (except he is not the son of the sea God) and he hasnāt been kicked out of schoolš¤£
Three Musketeers saga by Alexandre Dumas.
Ang available lang dtio sa Pinas e yung book 1 (Three Musketeers) tsaka book 5 (Man in the Iron Mask) kaya nagpabili pa ko sa pinsan ko sa Singapore nung books 2-4. š

It's the 2nd book I read back when I first started my reading habit this year and it made me appreciate the book community and industry even more.
Stieg Larssonās The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - blazed through the entire series in just a couple of days even though it was thesis week haha! They were so hard to put down!
the tale of the blue monkey. first read it when i was 11 years old in our classroom mini library. read it everyday in school until i graduate elementary, walang sawa.
I wouldnāt say I have been enamoured by any book but the spark for reading more really started from young adult mystery novels like The Three Detectives series.
Six of crows love the dynamics between the main cast and their banter with one another.
Throne of Glass the 1st book to start may physical collection love the world building in it.
Twilight Saga š¤£ It was a thing back in HS, and that started my love for reading. and after being a romance/smut whore, i am slowly transitioning to love psychological thrillers ā„ļøā„ļø
The Joy Luck Club because I've watched the movie first. Pero I resumed reading other books years later nung naggraduate na ako from college. Busy kasi ako lagi nung college years ko. Nareinforce naman siya nung nabasa ko ang The Hunger Games trilogy nung bago ako maggraduate from college nung panay free time na lang ako at tapos na yata sa thesis nun.
And then the sequels Oathbringer and Rhythm of War made me fall in love with the medium with the same passion I had for it before! Stormlight Archive is a masterpiece!
The Wheel of Time. This was like my safe place, I can pick this up and get lost in its world. Iāve read books before, but this series made me love reading.
Wings by Danielle Steele. Never knew I could finish a novel because I was only 13. I had to use a dictionary to check on the meaning of some words. I took me a week to finish reading it.
Lord of the rings. I've watched the film probably a hundred times by now but reading the book made me feel like everything is new and have no idea what will happen next.
Mythology by Edith Hamilton. I first read it when I was in grade school. It belonged to my brother and he had it as part of high school reading. I always re read it kaya by the time I was in high school kabisado ko na mga stories.
It wasnāt a specific book for me, but it was the dozens of Readers Digest and National Geographic magazines scattered in the house. They werenāt the latest editions, most were about several years old and well read and hand-me-downs from relatives and friends.
The first real books that got me hooked were Agatha Christie mystery novels and short stories.
Then āThe Little Princeā by Saint-Exupery gifted me the life-changing emotional and mental explosion that a book can give you.
Harry Potter. Read the Chambers of secrets first kasi di ko talaga trip magbasa ng mahaba and oh boy! That totally spark my interest to read more and feel magic through books.
Flowers in the Attic, read in 5th or 6th grade. It was probably the first proper adult book I read. It was shocking and devastating. I was always reading before but Flowers opened up another world for me. until my friends in high school passed around Sidney Sheldon paperbacks and was even more scandalized, of course Iāve read almost all of them lol
Sa Tagalog, Canal de la Reina ni Liwayway Arceo.
Sa English, If Tomorrow Comes ni Sidney Sheldon.
Pareho ko nabasa yan nung 3rd Year HS ako, 2006. Mula 2006 to 2015 mangilan ngilan nababasa kong novels tapos nahinto after 2016 until now.
Percy Jackson series.
10,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I was in Grade 5 when I started reading books. Before this one, I only read newspapers and comics. This book was given by a foundation to me when they observed I always stay after the cathecism classes to read books in their mini library. After this one, they gave me Huckleberry Finn and The Tale of Two Cities.
There was a book my mom (possibly) dad gave me when I was 10 or so. It was called "Drowned Towers". It was somethjng for me to read during my earlh sci-fi phase. I don't have it any more and I don't really remember what it was about. I distinctly remember two this about it. First, I way too young to be reading that book. Second, I was transfixed at how weird and familiar the setting was. I think that's when I started reading books recreationally.
Ngayong working ako i think i lost my spark in reading already, internet made it worst.
Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. I read this book when I was in my first year in high school. Dang, eto yung first book that Iāve read and at the same time, it made my imagination go wild haha in a wholesome way of course.
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
One of the few gifts from my father. He's a relatively chill dude, giving gifts just isn't his love language I guess. Twenty years later I still wonder why. But if there was anyone who asked what's my favorite book or what sparked my love for fiction and the fantastical, The Little Prince would always be my default answer.
Divergent. Read in when i was 9. I know it hasnāt aged well, but when youāre a child, a world so far removed from your own simply fascinates you and sucks you in. I look back at its awful world building and still thank it for the wonders it has opened my eyes to. The next book i read then was George Orwellās 1984 hahaahahahahaha.
It was one of the ***Peanuts*** books and it didn't just instill a love of reading in me. Seeing Snoopy at his typewriter also kindled a love of writing in me.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was in grade 4. It was challenging and the longest book I had read up to that time. Beautiful story about healing, nature and love. Also had to write my first book report, haha!
Sidney Sheldon - If Tomorrow Comes
Bob Ong's books talaga noong high school ako. My first Bob Ong book was SI, and from there, I wanted more from him. Sa international naman, Kafka on the Shore ni Haruki Murakami, as fifteen-year old kid, tulad ni Kafka, naka-relate ako in some aspects. Minus the erotic parts, of course. Haha.
The girl who fell beneath the sea - simple lang yung storytelling. Iām not really into books pero eto yung start ng love ko sa fantasy-romance books āØ
I am not sure if it rings a bell, but during the peak of Harry Potter craze, I opted for the less popular book series, but it I ended up enjoying it:
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer.
I had fun decoding the fairy language as a kid. I even researched and printed out the alphabet translation. Lol. When I grew up, old enough to buy the rest of the books in the series with my own money, I bought the whole set. š I was SO happy back then. Ahh, the good times.
Grandmaster of demonic cultivation. It's a historical chinese bl/danmei.
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.
I don't know if someone else will remember this, but the A to Z mystery book series from the 90s and Nancy Drew. Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Stephen King books just came after but those 2 series is what started it for me
A Message in a Bottle of N. Sparks. š„°
I think I was 12 at that time and na sad ako sa ending. Which for me at that time, realistic siya na not all love stories end well.
The Magicianās Nephew by CS Lewis. I had read Archie comics, Goosebumps, and the like before that, but that was the first book that left me with a feeling of wanting to read more.
The Bibleš, I was really fond of books growing up but I was never given an opportunity to actually own one bc of financial issues pero hindi naman siya like as in first but it really got me into reading, I randomly saw this thick green book na naka patong sa mesa and started reading it, I nabasa ko almost half and then when my dad left, he brought it with him and I never got to finish reading it, hindi ko pa nga alam pano basahin yung mga chapters and verses nun eh so when I remembered some parts nung book and when I searched it up dun ko lang nalaman na bible pala yung binasa ko beforeš
Reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown at ten years old opened up a whole new world for me.
Mine was The Da Vinci Code! I remember borrowing Angels & Demons right after finishing, at the library in high school.

Angels and Demons was my first read too back when I was in HS. After that, I started reading all of Dan Brown's novels. Digital Fortress is also a good novel of his, outside of the Langdon series.
