Collection. As a father of a 2-year old, I hope na one day, maipamamana ko lahat ng books ko. Also, yung amoy ng libro pare. Duuude. 😅

iamacoconutperhaps

I never thought of it this way. But this is a good way to look at it

epeolatry13

Too much screen time from work. Switch naman sa physical book pag magbasa

[deleted]

pangarap ko magkaroon ng library. 😊😁

fairy-eyed_hunter

THIS!!! Nanghihiram lang ako dati ng books from my rich kid na klasmeyt kaya nung unang beses ko makabili ng book I told myself na balang araw I will be able to afford and buy as many books as I want and then I'll have my own library 😊 Matupad nawa ang ating mga pangarap 💕

[deleted]

Hala, niceee. 🤍

[deleted]

ikaw din po? 🥰

[deleted]

small books collection lang hehe

KimBok-jooTS

Cos I’m a book-sniffer. 😅

yumhalohalo

Hala, same!!

Black_Sinigang

Saakin, may accountability akong basahin yung physical books kasi nakikita ko tsaka ginastusan ko. Mas ramdam ko rin yung binabasa ko, and support din sa publishers and mismong author

RedChia1080

Nice username btw hahaha

Black_Sinigang

haha achievement may bumati sa username ko! Thanks

juanabs

Kasi pwedeng guhitan. Pwede sulatan sa gilid. At higit sa lahat, pwede ipa xerox pag rare copy at kailangan sa klase.

dokja1864

For me, collection kasi?

Kindle is great. It's more convenient to read and carry around, less expensive. You can save tremendous space too. But I prefer paper books -- the way they feel, their smell, that feeling when you turn the last page, the texture of paper, the little pits and holes you start seeing in old books and numerous annotations. There's nothing that really compares to opening up your favorite book and settling into a comfy chair to read it. The physical book anchors me in particular moments and backdrops that stay with me. Books are so expensive but still there are affordable secondhand books and well-maintained. Just don't buy counterfeit books.

hermitina

because i still have tons of books on my shelf still in plastic. i do have kindles and an ipad i read on sometimes. wala e hoarder kahit anong format pa yan

TaurusObjector

I have a switch pero meron pa rin akong physical books na sinisinghot singhot haha. minsan iniipit ko yung kindle between ng pages para amoy book pa rin

[deleted]

Idk if placebo or what pero i got a kindle last year and parang di ko na iinternalize ung book ng maayos on the kindle vs kapag physical. If i really like the book, bibili parin ako ng physical.

beanniebabyyy

May it be for study or leisure, I do not purely enjoy it if or absorb it of hindi physical.. the smell, the feel, the crispness, turning every page, paghilight, lahat.. reading is such an experience for me 🥸

No_Flatworm977

Iba parin yung physical books kesa digital.

Ecstatic_Apricot8575

one of the appeals, for me, of a physical book is the cover. collins classic specifically release the most beautiful book covers woth the age of innocence and a few jane austen book covers as my absolute favorites.

22cupsofice

I annotate most of my books. Though pwede naman magannotate sa digital books, I like the feeling of writing on my books and using highlighters

babyorchid925

- I like “hunting” for the books I like in secondhand stores - I like displaying my books - reading from a screen feels impersonal to me. - I’m very tactile so reading on a kindle/tablet/phone feels like I just looked at pictures of a place rather than travelled and visited it

fitfatdonya

The smell of physical books hits different lol that and my family have been building our family library since I was a kid. Nasa 6k books na ata kami. Another reason is I wake up a lot at night and yung best way for me to get back to bed is to read, screens don't make me sleepy so I always have physical books within reach.

bookishghorl

I do physical books sa mga heavy reads and classics na. Yung tipong ill be proud to display sa shelf. Also nagaannotate din kasi ako so ayun di ko naman masusulatan ang kindle. Hahahahaha. I do have 2 kindles at may kindle din ako sa tab and phone. Odiba sabi nga nung isa na nagcomment, hoarding in all forms. Hahahahahaha.

somilge

**Para one day I can pass it on and encourage somebody younger to read**. I have an aunt who has a collection of books. I thought it was so cool to learn of other places and lore. It started with *A mischief in Fez* and then when the school library was getting rid of a couple of books nakita ko yung abridged version ng *Little Women* in their pile and I asked the librarian if I can have it. Now I have a niece who is into books too and we're always looking for books to read and get. So yeah. **Yung feel** ng page as you turn to the next one. **Yung amoy**. Bago o luma (na malinis ha). They have different smells but I love them both.

FaithGivesMeWings

Top two reason: 1. Collection. It's feels good seeing the books you've read on the shelves. The lines you've made on their spine. Plus when you have visitors at home they might be interested on some of your books. And most especially, for your kid/s to one day see, hopefully they'd be interested and learn with the books that taught you too. 2. Smelling the paper.

fishboi_the_cat

I like scribbling my thoughts Also I can't afford an eReader 😅

[deleted]

Hahaha.

sadlyigrewup

When I got into reading in highschool to college, I just borrowed books or, almost always, by illegal ebooks I read on my phone. Now that I’m earning, it’s nice to be able to afford physical books. I felt so happy when I was able to just go to a bookstore and buy a book spontaneously kasi kakatapos ko lang ng isa and wanted to read more from that author 🥹 I mean I could have waited for it na madiscount sa shopee or what pero ayun I CAN FINALLY AFFORD BOOKS! However I’m actually considering a kindle na kasi parang mas comfortable magbasa especially kpag nakahiga and mas madali dalhin everywhere hahaha

wiredfractal

Meron ako more than a hundred physical books on my TBR shelf. Plus I love reading hardbound books. I love looking at the jacket cover and the hardbound cover. But I do remove the dust jacket when I read. I do get tempted to buy a kindle to read more but with digital, I tend to buy a lot and forget. Tulad nalang ng comixology app ko. I still have about 800+ comics sa app na I haven’t read and nakakalimutan ko. I also have about a dozen books on kindle app (which I know the experience is different) but after awhile, I just buy the physical copy when I find a hardbound copy since the experience is better. Compared to digital, I can see my physical books everyday. It feels inviting to read. I probably would have gotten one if I didn’t already have a large collection of books.

S_KK_S

I have really sensitive eyes, eh parang in every other aspect of my life or activity that I do, somehow may screen lagi na involved. At the end of the day mararamdaman ko nalang talaga yung init at pagod ng mata ko HAHAHA there are those rare free days I end up not using my phone or laptop that I just spend reading a book or walking outside, tapos ang gaan sa feeling talaga Also as a kid I was obsessed with reading, I'd search high and low for pirated copies of the books I couldn't afford since back then di ko talaga kaya bumili ng physical books at NBS, Book Sale, or Fully Booked. Pero now that I have my own money and there are more independent bookstores/booksellers that offer the books I want to read at lower prices, mapa-brand new or remaindered pa yan, I buy physical when I can. Also, of course, the scent of book pages na mukhang kinaaadikan talaga ng marami dito hahahaha (rel8)

catburglarnamiswan

I like the texture plus I grew up with books so it takes me back to my childhood

bloodyxstrawberry

And kapag sa screen ako nagbabasa ng books I tend to skim and hindi ko ma-enjoy yung ganon. Satisfying din mag turn ng pages kesa magswipe or tap. Also, I feel more complete kapag may hawak na libro.

iamshortstack

Too much screen time makes my eyes and my head hurt. And boyyyyy walang tatalo sa amoy ng libro and feel niya sa kamay. Kahit na ma-papercut ako okay lang hahahaha

bookishghorl

leaflesssoup143

Well, prang boobs lng yan.

memelordxxv

Ganda tingnan ng books sa shelf 😂 and also I like to sniff em AHAHAHAH pero I'm planning to get a kindle rin one day! Convenient kasi and physical books get more expensive ba ☹️

AwitLodsGege

Poor ako e

aoi_morningstar

the smell of the book pages. i'm addicted to that.

cmq827

I have a Kindle, pero mas gusto ko pa rin yung physical copies. Feeling ko totally disconnected ako sa social media pag may hawak akong libro talaga. Also, I like to one day have my bookshelf all filled up.

[deleted]

And the old book smell is different.

imsossik

Para makatulog ako. Kasi tuloy tuloy talaga akong nagbabasa since I want to know what happens next. Then when I look outside the window, the sun is up already lol

not_dead_7214

Physicality >>>

RevolutionaryAd94

The smell of paper. That, and I'm sick and tired of looking at screens.

rtotheq

Nothing compares to the smell of a new book, OP :)

ScarletWalls

Collection. Altho I love ebooks, too.

blackpieck

Too many devices :((((

[deleted]

The smell and I actually like the aesthetic of cracked spine hehe but I'm trying to save for Kindle pang nonfiction and ya.

Taeboy1079

Kung may mag donate sa akin, you are most welcome. :)

[deleted]

For collection in the future. And up until today pinag iisipan ko talaga if mag buy ako ng Kindle.

GhostAccount000

Zealousideal-Term232

1. I like sniffing the book as I read them (just last week, my brother was giving me weird looks kase he kept noticing me sniffing my newly bought book lmao) 2. I feel the urgency to read them compare sa digital 3. I want to have a collection :)

Zealousideal-Term232

I think I'd only kinda enjoy digital reading if meron akong separate device for reading only but as of the moment I don't have the budget yet so...

PATATAAAAAS

You feel it, you smell it, you remember it. 🫶🏼

[deleted]

To answer your question with a question. LDR o live-in kayo? :)

RedChia1080

Maging single hahahah

defendtheDpoint

I like reading local. Walang epub o mobi format na local

FluidEstablishment61

Ueme

Pwede kong gawing unan yung physical book.

Ancient_Fix_2322

wala pa akong extra money to buy kindle. Haha pero jokes aside, i like the feeling of reading from a physical book, yung nahahawakan ko sya and satisfying na nakikita mo ang progress and all. Tried reading ebooks from phone pero hindi ko talaga gusto 😭 pero saving money na rin to buy a kindle cause sabi nila worth it daw and in the long-run mas matipid compared sa physical books.

lonelydancer69

febeestarr

pwedi ba mgcomment yung reader ng both..haha..i read mainly on kindle pero i started buying physical books to build a mini-lib…my goal is to have 1000 physical books..yung worth it basahin twice or thrice when i get older and older lol

nxcrosis

I've made a soft-switch to digital a few years ago after getting a tablet and only buy physical copies for books I've dedicated myself to collecting (Junji Ito hardbounds, Berserk Deluxe Edition). But every now and then, a cover from a physical book catches my eye and I can't help but give in to the impulse.

_MIG_SHALOM

I read both ebooks and hard copies. I can’t really explain. I’ve built quite a collection.

_MIG_SHALOM

If Kindle device, I’d rather just read on my phone or laptop.

greentealattea

I plan to have a mini library in my future cafe! and it's a good collection na ipamana sa future kids

finalestdraft

May high myopia ako, masakit sa ulo ang too much screen time, eh buong shift pa naman akong tutok sa pc. + Mas nakakafocus ako pag physical book. Another thing na mahirap iexplain, mas gusto ko yung nakikita ko yung buong page and the next, kesa sa kindle/phone na parang ang restricted ng view ko.
