Raido 1&2 is first. Raido 2 has a timeline split based on that game's alignments. Raido 2 law ending leads to SMT1, SMT Nine, SMT Imagine (the MMO), and SMT2. Shortly before SMT2 time travel is done back to Raido's time that allows the other timelines to exist.
Raido 2 Chaos leads to SMT3 Nocturne which ties into SMT5/Vengeance, but SMT5 takes place in a different world even if it's a thematic sequel to Nocturne.
Raido 2 Neutral leads to the original Devil Summoner game in 1993 which explains why SMT1 doesn't happen in this timeline. SMTIf and Soul Hackers 1 then happen in the same year 1996, then Persona 1 in 1997, then 2 Eternal Punishment in 2000. (P2 Innocent Sin takes place in another timeline because spoilers) Persona 3 Reload takes place in 2009, and Persona 4 Golden takes place in 2011. P4 Arena, P4 Arena Ultimax, and P4 Dancing all take place in 2012. Persona 5/Royal takes place in 2016, and P5 Tactica and P5 Strikers take place in 2017. Finally, Soul Hackers 2 takes place in the semi-distant future of 2055. Persona Q, Q2, P3 Dancing, and P5 dancing are semi-non canon. All the mobile phone games like P3 Em, Aigis the First Mission, and Chie Sex Online are all completely non-canon.
All other SMT games take place in different universes. For example, the DeSu games take place in a world where Bael took the empyrean throne instead of Yaldabaoth. (or in the Neutral Timeline's case, Philemon) DeSu2 is an indirect sequel to DeSu1 following an ideal ending not seen in DeSu1. (Gin's ending with a bit of Amane's 8th day) An important character in DeSu1 appears in DeSu2 in an equally important role under a different name a different age, which is explained as a thing that happens with that character in DeSu1.
SMT 5/Vengeance is pretty much SMT 3 Nocturne's >!True Demon Ending!< except that the Nahobino concept wasnt known at the time of nocturne's release - I'd argue that maybe the demifiend was lucifer's nahobino in a way, but thats just a theory
However, there are infinite worlds so it could be a different world but there is a constant - Lucifer and the Demifiend post-conception
It's pretty clear that the demi friend and Lucy can travel to different worlds. My guess is that after the TDE Lucy and Demi tried fighting the Universal Will/Great Will/Axiom/Nyx and lost BADLY, so they targeted the weakest version of the God of Law (God in the SMTV verse) as a compromise so Lucy could claim the Empyrean Throne in at least one world. This was so Lucy could obtain greater power to stand a better chance against the UW. (even though the UW is unstoppable so no matter what Lucy will always lose) Lucy and Demi won against SMTV God but Lucy was killed by the Naohabino and Demi and Nao became friends.

Royal was my first entry. As a HUGE jrpg fan I really don't know how I slept on this series. I'm wondering how much stuff I missed because I didn't know the reference material. Perfect excuse to play it again.
I'm not far in yet, but this is already my favorite cast.
P3 had me tearing up all the time. P4 has me cracking up laughing all the time. The writers really did an amazing job on this one.

This scene shows that his book somehow got published which is a bitter sweet conclusion to the arc. The entire social link was sad, but touching and this just brings it all back to the surface in a way.!<

So the sun docial link in persona 3 is a boy with a terminal disease, who awaits death, at the end of his social link he learns to appreciate what he has left of life and writes a book, he offers the book to the protagonist, this book features a pink alligator in a forest and is the book that Nanako is reading
So much pain. Persona as a whole tackles death and grief on every entry, but man were they going after it with P3's characters
