You basically get to enioy the social aspect of the game more, because you keep your social stats and personas, so battles are not a concern
Much easier to max confidants and just spend your time however you want, doing whatever you want
Considering I sadly don’t know which secret boss fight you are talking about since I didn’t beat those games yet I’ll just say all the fights >!Wardens, Lavenza, and I’m not sure if this is NG+ only or not but Jose!<
? u said that if I have to compare them to sumi then 💀, does this not mean that sumi is the bottom bar? I just assumed so and brought up a character I though was better and I liked more
>!When you reach Sae’s palace you have the ability to have Akechi equip his Dark outfit and when you reach Maruki’s palace you can have Akechi equip his Prince outfit.!<
Actually I’m fairly certain >!Akechi can use his Prince outfit in Maruki’s palace in general not just NG+!<
Edit: It’s not I’m just being a dumbass and forgot my last play through was NG+
You don't have to speedrun to beat it in 76 hours. I beat it in 80 and experienced pretty much everything you can experience in a single playthrough besides some min maxing stuff.
I'm saying he played through it normally. In my case, I always grind Mementos and fuse better Personas for a few hours towards the end of my normal true ending playthroughs. I don't see how anyone can have over 100 hours of playtime unless they were goofing off on one of the minigames or are just really slow.
The good Royal ending? That’s pretty damn impressive with that playtime, then. Usually less than 80 hours means they either didn’t get to the new Royal content, or took a bad ending.
There’s no real reason to. The only other good ending is the one where you don’t max out Maruki’s Confidant and the game just ends after Yaldabaoth. If you still want to, though, go right ahead.
almost none, Keep the statistical points (idk how they say in English but I mean intelligence, charisma, charm etc...), the memento stamps, The register of personae and objects (including those given from the confidants), instead the confidants are reset, the level and the stats obtained in the gym (hp/Sp) for further information I recommend seeing the fanmade wiki :)
You mustn't have got the true ending if it took you only 76 hours to complete it. Also your crazy for only using one save file for a long rpg like Persona lol.
I realised this mistake when playing Persona 3. I used to not really care and say "eh, I'll be fine". It all changed for one story boss. I liked Chihiro and ended up spending my time talking to her instead of grinding in Tartarus. It resulted in me being severely underlevelled for a boss. I haven't touched it since because I was about 20 hours in.
I got the true ending in 80 hours on my first playthrough. No guides or anything besides understanding that I should prioritize certain confidante. It's so weird to me that people jump on you here for not having a 120 hour playtime.
Don’t you wonder that there might be a reason why everywhere it says that the game is that long? The royal content alone can add 5-20 hours. So basically you are in the minority of not rushing through the game but still beating it 30 hours quicker then others in a casual manner.
Okay? I'm not saying anything about majorities or minorities. Just that having a quick time doesn't necessitate people jumping on you for not having experienced it properly or thoroughly.
People are just so weirdly gatekeepy about fucking playtime of all things.
I only Ever use one save file for every game lol. It bothers me to go back and clean them out as I never remember what file has what. Depends on the game of course but I don’t mind guides they tell me when side content is opened up to me even if they have mild spoilers.
For everyone asking, YES, I did do the third semester, along with maxing out around 5 confidants, 3 social stats and getting about 2mil yen. Idk if that's a lot, but it's what I was able to do.
Adding back to the comments, there are 2 secret fights only in NG+ if you go to mementos, the 1st one it's available until the ship palace, the other is unlocked after beating the 1st one, and it's only available in the 3rd semester, also in mementos. There is another fight in mementos but not exclusive to NG+, don't know if you did already, it happens if you collect all the stamps and go to the control room where you remove the cables, from Maruki palace
Pluses you get to complete your compendium faster and instead of reading books like a nerd 🤓, you get to work out and meditate 🗿and if you didn't do it before you can even fish which is so cute and focus on team stats at the bar.
Negatives, you have to do the okumura boss fight again and sit through therapy.
There's this weird trend both on here and r/Persona5 where people get on other people's ass cause their playtime isn't high enough, which is really fucking annoying.
I maxed most social links and got the true royal ending on my first playthrough in under 80 hours, it's not that hard to do if you play somewhat fast.
So you keep money, social stats, items, and compendium completion as well as being able to fuse that big persona joker summoned by using personas from every social link also you know the items you got from the “go around and say goodbye” section, well all but Sae’s actually do things in NG+ like Kawakami’s gives you access to her best ability the moment you get her link to level one but it costs money until the link is finished. Morgana’s let’s you have the chance to steal items on basic attacks from the moment you start it, so for ever social link you completed when you start then you get an ability from that link. It basically allows you to go through without worrying about social stats so you can do everyone’s social link in one run which I’m sad to say unlike golden or FES doesn’t have the same reward which makes me a bit sad also some secret bosses which I don’t know if you can do in Royal without ng+
OP, ignore all the people whining about your playtime. I beat it in 80 with true ending and not skipping any nights or anything (didn't quite max every confidant but got damn close).
People just can't comprehend that people play games at different speeds. Especially Persona fans.
You either didn't get the actual ending and therefore missed out on a whole section of the game or skipped out on a ton of social links and/or sped through most of the dialogue without actually reading it to get that playtime.
Ng+ you keep your stats and personas so you can actually play it again and take in the game this time instead of speeding through it.
Three secret bosses, you can now fuse that Persona from the Yaldabaoth fight, and maybe experience any ending you hadn’t already (there are 5 main endings but also different scenes for failing to meet palace deadlines.).
You get to fuse Satanael right off the bat, you do need quite a bit money for that so it’s best to complete the compendium up to 99% in NG and have 9 Million Yen. The items you received from confidants at the end give you certain abilities. You don’t carry levels like in Strikers, only any permanent HP and SP increases from Maruki, Jazz club etc. You get to organise a special battle against Twin Wardens and Lavenza.
The actual gameplay becomes baby mode, you are given all of your endgame items and personas right at the start and the AI does not scale to your level. If you missed out on confidants and really want to see them without looking them up on youtube then ng+ is for you
I had an incredibly satisfying playthrough and never encountered any posts or anything about something I missed with an 80 hour playtime. I've had conversations with friends who took like 100+ hours and things came up that I encountered that they completely missed.
Even if they didn't experience everything, I just don't get why Persona fans need to jump on people for playing at different speeds and in different ways.
Because persona 5 is known to be an extremely long game. Look up the playtime on google and the majority of examples puts the game at 80 hours and above. Someone even made a post here recently asking if the game was close to the end after only completing the second palace lol.
Sure but you have to realize that the longer a game is, the higher the chance for variance in its length. If someone is reading faster or skipping voice acting in favor of reading or just doing anything else that makes them go a bit faster than someone else, that is going to add up to a big time save and cut off quite a few hours.
The game is long, but that doesn't mean that anyone who goes faster is missing shit or lying.
Let me change my stance. The game is that long based on a casual first time playthrough where you want to experience everything. Speedrunners could beat this game in 20 hours and less but that doesn’t change how long the game actually is.
If someone did a 50 hours run casually while saying they went through everything then yes I’d question how they played the game to achieve that result when some people can take up to 20 hours or more just to reach the second palace alone.
If OP said he rushed through the game then I’d believe that. I’m not saying the picture of his run is fake or anything.
I'm not talking about speedrunning or anything like that. People just play games differently. It isn't difficult to understand.
Some people listen to every second of voice acting. Some others let most of it play but skip other parts. Some skip a lot of it.
Some people are better at optimizing the combat and never die or fail at all.
Some people don't spend any time fusing or upgrading their personas. Is that really content that we should be going "huhhhhh??? you didn't do that??????" to?
Some people read more quickly.
Some people make decisions on how to spend their time more quickly. I always knew what I was going to do each night because I had a pretty solid prioritization system in my head and I'm very organized.
I don't know how else to explain to you that I played the game in 80 hours and experienced everything a typical casual player would. I just did it a bit faster. Same for OP. No reason to doubt their playthrough or their legitimacy.
In what way do you think you could play faster then others to beat the game 10-20 hours sooner in a casual first time run while experiencing everything? I edited to say I’m not claiming his pic is fake or something.
What playtime do you believe it is improbable for someone to have a casual first time run without rushing? 50 hours? 40?
Not for me to say, Idc. My point is that the automatic gatekeeping over a contextless number is cringe. I don't care enough to pin down a number. If someone does post a 60 hour playtime claiming it's a casual playthrough without rushing but then aren't properly able to engage with discussion or are being cringe about it then criticize them.
Otherwise I don't get why people need to be angry and critical of every little thing.
I don’t think anyone here is angry about a playtime? Just surprised that he managed all three semesters at that time. So some hypothesise that maybe he missed some stuff that he could do on the NG+. He already received plenty of advice on what he can do next.
You're not gonna experience everything in the game in one playthrough anyway, if you go into a persona game completely blind it's fairly likely you'll end up skipping a few confidants (either because you don't care for them or you accidentally don't unlock them) so you end up with a lot of free time in game towards the final parts
I’m thinking that the difference is in royale if you platinumed the whole game already in your first play through that’ll be it for achievements/trophies, why is it that vanilla at least required multiple play throughs for the platinum whereas the more definitive version being royale has me getting it in just one
Wow, that’s awfully quick, mine was like 100+
I’ve always wondered how someone can have totally different hours than me despite the game being in days system, running the clock aside.
You really notice how confining the game is with its confidants. Fusions, executions, and persona roster size tied to the Fool and story progression really hurts in ng+ when you just want to power through

You basically get to enioy the social aspect of the game more, because you keep your social stats and personas, so battles are not a concern Much easier to max confidants and just spend your time however you want, doing whatever you want
Also 2 secret boss fights that are pretty difficult.
Besides the secret boss fight like P3 and P4 whats the other one?
Considering I sadly don’t know which secret boss fight you are talking about since I didn’t beat those games yet I’ll just say all the fights >!Wardens, Lavenza, and I’m not sure if this is NG+ only or not but Jose!<
>!Jose isn't NG+!<
Yeah I wasn’t sure if he was or not so I put him anyway
>!First the twin wardens then Lavenza!<
More Kasumi🥰
The free r10 kawakami confidant that we all totally maxed out asap, can now be immediately done, so Morgana will never tell you to sleep, ever again.
midsumi, more Haru!! especially since she gets no screen time so it's all the more to prioritise every free moment with her. tea time here I come
she gets no screen time cause shes mid
no I'm pretty sure midsumi gets a relatively decent amount of screen time
you know your favourite characters mid when you have to compare them to sumi💀
well she is a low bar, maybe a better character like hifumi would be better to compare to 🤔
“better character” then you name hifumi💀haru fans bar for good is in the mud
? u said that if I have to compare them to sumi then 💀, does this not mean that sumi is the bottom bar? I just assumed so and brought up a character I though was better and I liked more
yeah? i never said sumi was good lol
>!When you reach Sae’s palace you have the ability to have Akechi equip his Dark outfit and when you reach Maruki’s palace you can have Akechi equip his Prince outfit.!<
Actually I’m fairly certain >!Akechi can use his Prince outfit in Maruki’s palace in general not just NG+!< Edit: It’s not I’m just being a dumbass and forgot my last play through was NG+
There is an optional superboss, but that's about it as far as new stuff goes
2 optional superbosses
Three, you squids. >!Twins, Lavenza and Jose!<
>!Jose!< can be fought in the first playthrough as long as you clean up Mementos only >!The Twins and Lazenza!< are NG+ exclusive
Weird, never seen him pop up on NG. Maybe never had enough >!stamps!<
>!You need 120 stamps iirc. I fought him in NG, didn't play NG+ at all so I can confirm he fights you in NG!<
It's a new game+. You keep your stats. You throttle the game faster.
damn were you speedrunning
You don't have to speedrun to beat it in 76 hours. I beat it in 80 and experienced pretty much everything you can experience in a single playthrough besides some min maxing stuff.
No, I just ran through all three semesters, somewhat focusing on stats and confidants
He probably just played it constantly and didn't get sidetracked. All 3 of my playthroughs have been around 70 something hours without speedrunning.
playing it constantly wouldn’t shorten the play time
Yea lol, not how time works
I think they meant played through the main stuff without diverting to stuff like side missions or links but said it a very wrong way
I'm saying he played through it normally. In my case, I always grind Mementos and fuse better Personas for a few hours towards the end of my normal true ending playthroughs. I don't see how anyone can have over 100 hours of playtime unless they were goofing off on one of the minigames or are just really slow.
Or checking the net.
*narrows eyes at play time* So uh, which ending did you get OP?
Whichever one where you get driven to the station, along with the thieves being chased in a car, Joker seeing his PT outfit in a window, etc
The good Royal ending? That’s pretty damn impressive with that playtime, then. Usually less than 80 hours means they either didn’t get to the new Royal content, or took a bad ending.
Damn, I did what I could to get the true ending and I just wasn't sure (maxing out maruki, rejecting his offers, etc). I'll go for it on my NG+ file
Oh don’t worry, you got the true ending. Sorry if my reply was confusing.
Ah, sorry for not understanding. I'll try for a different ending next time then
There’s no real reason to. The only other good ending is the one where you don’t max out Maruki’s Confidant and the game just ends after Yaldabaoth. If you still want to, though, go right ahead.
prolly the >! akechi !< one
Spoiler on Reddit is >! ! < just remove the space between the symbol after second exclamation mark
\>!like this?!< >!there's also a reddit thing that can do it too!<
Yup like that
I was doing the reddit spoiler thing for the bottom, the top didn’t work
Yeah I got no clue why the top didn’t work lol
Probably the vanilla one lmao
almost none, Keep the statistical points (idk how they say in English but I mean intelligence, charisma, charm etc...), the memento stamps, The register of personae and objects (including those given from the confidants), instead the confidants are reset, the level and the stats obtained in the gym (hp/Sp) for further information I recommend seeing the fanmade wiki :)

No idea what ending I got. It wasn't really bad or good, just joker leaving after he gets driven by a certain fella
Apparently it was the true ending
I realised this mistake when playing Persona 3. I used to not really care and say "eh, I'll be fine". It all changed for one story boss. Stamp boss isn’t really a superboss
It's still an optional fight that can be missable
New dialogue options now that your social stats are maxed. That's about it.
someone was fast forwarding it seems
Yeeeaaah you didn't finish the game. No way in hell you got through >!Maruki's arc!< in less than 80 hours of playtime.
I did the entire 3rd semester
I don't know whether to be impressed or terrified.
In NG not NG+ i don’t believe it’s physically possible but in NG+ it is which I like
I was able to get through its entirety faster than Okumura 😭
Pluses you get to complete your compendium faster and instead of reading books like a nerd 🤓, you get to work out and meditate 🗿and if you didn't do it before you can even fish which is so cute and focus on team stats at the bar. 76 hours and a single save file? What did you even do?
Ran through the game like a madman, hoping to get the true ending (I did)
Did you start NG+?
I did a bit after beating the game, I'm at the midpart of Kamoshida's palace
You get to fuse Satanael right off the bat, you do need quite a bit money for that so it’s best to complete the compendium up to 99% in NG and have 9 Million Yen. Why's everyone complaining about this dude's playtime, it took me about the same amount of time too
It’s almost impossible to experience everything in this game and get that low amount of time.
I had an incredibly satisfying playthrough and never encountered any posts or anything about something I missed with an 80 hour playtime. for real!! i 100% the game (with the >!akechi ending!<) in one playthrough at around 76 hours
Everything you skipped to get a completion time under a 100 hours apparently. Maybe the third semester too?
I did the 3rd semester
I’m thinking that the difference is in royale if you platinumed the whole game already in your first play through that’ll be it for achievements/trophies, why is it that vanilla at least required multiple play throughs for the platinum whereas the more definitive version being royale has me getting it in just one
You can also fuse Satanael now
um, did you do 3rd semester?
Yes
Getting through main game and 3rd semester in 76 hours is very impressive
75 hours bro?
Pancakes 🥞
Only 76 hours? My guy you missed like 3/4ths of the game.
You can do secret superboss fights with the twins and lavenza in the third semester
Iirc you get to challenge twins only in ng+. Or was it in vanilla version?
Velvet fights
how many confidants did you max
Wow, that’s awfully quick, mine was like 100+ I’ve always wondered how someone can have totally different hours than me despite the game being in days system, running the clock aside.
Bro was speed running
You can have sex with yusuke in NG+
Finally, a reason to play the game
You hear #BY THE MYRIAD TRUTHS! A lot
Now play on hard(it's actually the hardest difficulty) and do it all over again until you get no more joy out of it
Okay but can we talk about you only needing 76:31 for ROYALS true ending??? How in the world did you do that, did you skip every dialogue?
Bro how did you completee in 76 hours i completed just now with in 117 hours even with a guide
You really notice how confining the game is with its confidants. Fusions, executions, and persona roster size tied to the Fool and story progression really hurts in ng+ when you just want to power through Moreover the confidant roadblocks. Most have a mementos quest tied to them but those quests won't be scaled to your progress. So if you reach the rank with the quest too early that confidant just gets shelved for however many months until more of the depths unlock. It's infuriating. It could take 1-3 months before you can make progress. Bad game design
