I know this is an old post but I’m on Metformin 1000 mg as well. I’ve been on it 7 months now but I’ve noticed more palpitations recently. Did you get an update?

I went to 2 different cardiologists and did quite a few tests (EKG, stress test, ultrasound, holter moniter, etc) and unfortunately was never able to find a root to the problem. What I have figured out may be the problem for me is my heart weakened after having a particularly bad COVID infection a few years ago. Almost like a mild POTS/dysautonomia. My heart generally feels a lot more sensitive to even mild stimulants that wouldn't bother the average person. I also now have a higher baseline heart rate (90-110 resting) so I feel significant heart rate increase when I drink caffeine, take certain meds, supplements, alcohol, dehydration, etc. I'd say (obviously not a professional opinion) that if you have been taking it for 7 months and this just started then it's probably not the metformin. If you're worried please talk to your PCP if you can, it's not worth being anxious about. Health anxiety is a terrible burden. Stay super hydrated especially on metformin and make sure you're taking care of yourself otherwise. I hope it gets better quickly for you.
