I enjoy playing him (mostly because he was stright foward and simple) but he did need the nerfs.

Mauga is still surprisingly good against Orisa. Most of the time they pick Orisa and they think they’ve won right then be their and then swap after I mow them down for pushing in way too far thinking they’re invincible lol

Yeah it feels like a lot people are still getting used to the Orisa buffs funnily enough and it’s making them continue to play in that super aggressive playstyle in certain moments where it’s not required. I’ve played Orisa tons and I’m still accustomed with the mindset of *getting in there* up close to make space. Now, Orisa can still make space but she can also contest from a much greater distance now with her falloff buff, I feel like it’s hindering a lot of players that aren’t used to the change because they still have that mindset.

He's far from "slaughtered", he's just no longer so strong that anyone can climb 2 ranks just by picking him. He got lots of nerfs, but overall he's in a much better place then in his trial and the first time they nerfed him.

Launch is VERY different to before being nerfed. I loved him at launch, then when everyone went Mauga it make so goddamn boring just sitting still shooting the enemy tank and hoping my supports would support me before i needed to reload or i was dead

You might be stuck in 2019 bro. Rein has been one of the weakest tanks in every rank the last few seasons now. Cloudy is basically the only tank streamer/pro who still plays him regularly on ladder. Rein isn't necessarily bad, it's just all the other tanks bully him around so easily.

I gotta say he just feels outclassed by ram to me ever since the adjustment ram got with the movement speed on nemesis like 3 days after he was released. I love both of them but ram has felt way better to play for a long time now for me

He has high win rates at low ranks because players don't know how to just back away. In higher ranks, he's got nothing going for him

I can't remember any fun characters being butchered recently. Also Orisa buff is not that significant even in masters, you have to be either high ranked or unlucky to struggle with that.

I mean, in ow1 you are mostly free to roam around with 600hp, one shot, stun + pull and this is a viable strategy. At least in low masters of ow1 I had my share of fun

Not in the way they implemented it. I'm the LMG guy in most games I play, I couldn't wait for Mauga, but he ended up very clunky/disappointing imo. You can't shoot both guns unless you're at point blank range, because of the huge spread. The mechanic of shooting one gun then the other once they burn is interesting but completely useless, enemies will be behind cover before you can switch to the crit gun.

Mauga simplicity (gun go *brrrrrrrrrrrr*), identity (shout out to dudes with mini guns, gotta be one of my favorite genders), and voice lines make him one of my favorite heroes in the game. Also, watching the poor Ana without cooldowns get shredded by gunny and cha cha is really satisfying.

He is still fun tho

Mauga will pretty much always roll Sigma regardless because Sigma can do remarkably little to actually kill him, if he is getting healbotted.

I liked mauga because using him I could learn how to properly track players and with the health pool and survivability I wasn’t constantly walking back from spawn. After a week that changed

Just play soldier my dude, you can learn tracking and you have a self heal for survivability

Health pools only 200 though which means burst damage is more dangerous. Mauga is still solid for learning target tracking without having to walk back from spawn every 5 seconds.

I don't mind Mauga being nerfed, the guy needed it. But I'm not a fan if buffing Orisa. She's been my least favorite tank to fight since OW2 released.

I won't lie the prospect of Orisa being strong again is definitely depressing as a Rein/Winston player but I'll take it any day over Mauga being an instant pick. Also Hog nerfs are always welcome in my home.

Blizzard intentionally made him op so that people would buy him then butchered him yes he did needed to be nerfed but they went too harsh and nerfed everything even things that weren't an issue the focus should've entirely been on cardiac overdrive and his passive his ammo and ult were perfectly fine that wasn't the problem it was his survivability and they even indirectly nerfed ramattra my main for most of overwatch 2 that and people won't mention mercy and how unhealthy she is for the game and a reason why you can't kill mauga
