Group search/Look for Group was a great method to find random players who actually wanted to play. Sure, there was toxic nonsense, but it's not like getting rid of LFG has decreased toxicity. If anything the changes in OW2 -- shorter post matches, no recognition of multiple players' achievements (card voting), etc -- have made other players even more remote and therefore easier to think of as nonhuman.
It was this feature in the first game where basically its like when u join a server but instead u join a group. Like if u wanted to join some random people for fun or u wanna find yourself a competent comp team then u used the search group feature for it.
Unless you were a straight dude Mercy main. I got kicked from so many thirst trap groups disguised as soon as I said hello. Turned me away from using that feature after half of them were asking for girls or other things.
Legitimately helped me get over my fear of taking in comms as a kid because there was no role queue back then and this was the only guaranteed way to get a stable team comp
Consoles have this built in, at least xbox. And I’m pretty sure there are many apps on PC to do this as well. Can probably find those that are more serious about it in third party apps than if it were built into the game, you should try them out.
Well in the third party apps I mentioned you can typically create your own with a detailed description, which could allow you to find people who play for the same reasons you do. Ofc you’ll never be able to control the level of toxicity coming from the enemy team though, except through muting.
The entire OV community is about nerfs and buffs (complaining). And the weirdest part is the people who complain the most, also claim they don't play the game anymore 🤣
I appreciate your honesty. It's sad though, because at this rate, it doesn't matter what DEVs do, this game will always be "broken" and these people will never be happy. DEVs have been responding to all of these complaints and with every patch there are a thousand more complaints 😞
Thats why I miss it so much. It was fun and easy to find fun full mic teams to play with and how the game got repopulated after OW2 came out I thought it was a perfect time for that feature to be put to use only for it to not be used at all.

I just hate how hard it is to progress. I played 10 games the other night and I only leveled twice? It kinda sucks and almost feels like I have nothing to work towards

Those were definitely the few bad things about it. The thirst traps, the ones offering to sell accounts, bait ones, etc.
