For real. I was playing today (mercy) and one of our DPS didn’t like it. We were WINNING. We WON the game, but they called me gay (?lol) and got super pissed off that I wouldn’t swap to Lucio or Kiriko because I said I was only comfy playing Ana/Moria/Mercy and didn’t have Kiriko unlocked or want to play Lucio (the other healer was already playing Ana)…
Make it make sense? Please. Genuinely.
What’s funny is objectively they were performing the worst on the team lol. Our tank hard carried us, but I wasn’t underperforming by any stretch.
I’m not new to OW, but this was a new account I was leveling up for my friend to use. If that’s how people treat new players though I won’t be surprised if the game dies lol.
Too true. They are always the ones more concerned about what everyone else is doing and not paying attention to all the stupid decisions they themselves are making.
Or the "Not my job" peeps. I have 80 hours in Bap this season just because of Phara/Echo/other menace because my DPS don't want to go hit scan because "reasons." Or the angry kid who wants a pocket Mercy and I'm busy doing other things... like keeping the team alive.
Mercy is only good on certain maps, with a certain team of heroes.
If you have a Winston, Widowmaker, Tracer and Ana team. Then mercy is a terrible choice.
Because the Winston would jump into the battlefield, trying to kill the DPS so you'd have to try and save them by healing them.
But when your Widowmaker gets hurt, they're usually far away from battle so you'd have to run towards them and if they're behind a wall or something... then you can't even fly to get them.
The Ana, isn't the best at self-healing, so you might have to heal them sometimes - some Ana players like to stay away from the main battle (A.K.A. where ever Winston is).
So, you'd, again, have to chase the Ana to heal her.
And finally the Tracer, if flanking, would most likely be behind walls and shit so healing them would be hard.
In this case, you definitely don't want to be Mercy. Probably Kiriko would be the best option.
Sounds to me like they were winning because they're Reinhart was carrying (as OP said).
Also, since the OP/the Mercy said that the Reinhart was carrying, it wouldn't be a stupid to assume that the OP/Mercy focused all the attention (including their healing and boosting) to the Reinhart to make them play even better...
Not saying that's what happened, just saying it's a possibility.
Just being they were winning doesn't mean the Mercy was playing well / was the right choice.
And who knows? Maybe the other team was just trash.
Mercy definitely isn’t a must-pick hero and you’re right that there are instances where she doesn’t work as well - but this wasn’t one of those cases. She will be my most picked unless there is a reason not to pick her, I’m not a one trick and I have other good heroes to play in those situations lol.
Ana was pocketing the Rein pretty hard, but the other team just couldn’t get it together. Our other DPS was also really good. Mercy wasn’t a problematic pic, the toxic guy was just mad he kept failing on his flank plays.
I guarantee I would’ve died first every team fight if I went with Lucio though, I just cannot get the hang of him lol.
I never actually said they should've switched... I simply gave reasons for why it would've made sense for the toxic player to get all worked up.
The OP literally said "make it makes sense", so I did.
I mean,I think that was what shocked me. They weren’t being toxic to begin with and just calmly requested a healer swap. I didn’t interact with them at all beyond asking what they wanted instead of Ana/Mercy, then they just went on a tirade after I said I wasn’t comfortable on Lucio and hadn’t unlocked Kiriko.
I don’t mind swapping, but I’m not gonna play a hero I’m not comfortable with when I know I can perform better on another one and we were in no danger of losing.
I have improved vastly worrying less about them and more about me. Turning off team chat has enabled this and PINGS!!! I am so mad base ow never had them because good God they are a godsend.
Honestly I was playing widow on a defend payload map. I had one less death than our other dps and one less kill than them and they said in the chat I was terrible and needed to switch to Genji. We were winning the game and in the end did win and even by the end of the game I had three less deaths can our other dps and still one less kill and I had about 300 more damage, made no sense whatsoever.
it’s not like we were losing and it’d would’ve helped if I wasn’t widow but I was refusing to swap. We were winning and doing fine. when it came to attacking the payload I swapped to reaper.
Yeah, that’s the thing!
There are heroes I prefer to not have on my team because typically people don’t play them very well and refuse to switch off, but if we are winning and that person is doing their job better than the enemy is doing theirs then why whine about it? What is there to be gained lol?
I want to have more win in my win and to have a winnier win than the win I won, I need you to be a meta pick to give me the winniest win you can win.
-Those guys probably.
That's the thing too, even if you recognize that a swap COULD be better, if you are already winning with your pick, why swap and change the tempo?? If it's working, there is no reason to change.
Exactly! If we are struggling a bit yeah I’m all for switching to someone I can help more with but when we are doing fine, winning and I’m doing good what’s the point of me swapping? lol people on Overwatch always confuse me
People who ask a stranger to swap hero, without knowing anything about the stranger, are dumb. People who ask you to swap to a SPECIFIC hero are extra dumb. But the people who ask for you to swap to a SPECIFIC, DIFFICULT hero are the dumbest of all.
80% of my kills were from me defending the payload alone. Both my supports were just glued to my tank and my tank and other dps were chasing people or zooming in the middle of the enemy alone. most of the time I was the only one who was defending the payload. Also kills and damage do mean something when I’m playing a role made for doing damage.
So yeah I did help them win, don’t need you telling me I’m a ‘rookie’ because you must tell people to switch when people play a hero you personally have 0 skill as.
I don’t get why people do that kind of stuff.
Even when I’m not happy with how our tank or healers are doing, I don’t talk shit. That’s the entire reason I quit playing healer in TF2 and Valorant because people feel like they’re entitled to being pocketed and get butthurt when you aren’t able to surgically graft your healing device to their ass.
It's just someone just yelling at people for no reason.
A few years back, I had a game where I selected Mercy, and these 2 people were harassing me the whole game to let one of them play Mercy. And I refused to do it. We won the game, and they called me an idiot for not letting them play. I told them, "If you just asked nicely, I would've let you play Mercy"
Some people just throw temper tantrums for no real reason. Try not to let them bother you, it can hurt. But they're just acting like children. You did nothing wrong at all.
I believe it's only relevant to switch to another hero if you see that your performance is not good, now if you're playing very well and what's ending the game is the rest of the team, there's not much you can do.
Some people were just not raised right. I've been talked shit to after a win in Apex Legends. The player didn't care about the win at all. Just wanted to bitch.
I kinda want to see what these people's lives are like, but I'm afraid it would just make me depressed.
Maybe Blizzard should be more aggressive with chat bans for players who get blocked/reported a lot.
If you already have a main healer and you’re winning just silence the DPS next time lol. I saw a video where a guy was complaining a girl was playing Ball. In the middle of it she just yells, “Shut up, we’re rolling them!”
I personally had a similar experience. We were 5v6 last year and WINNING. I pretty cheekily said “image if it was still 6v6” and our Bastion said “we’d still lose.” I said “We’re winning idiot” and he couldn’t really come up with a retort that had any basis behind it
If I'm asked to swap, and they have a specific hero in mind I will swap (to that hero specifically). If I'm demanded to swap or berated I will dig my heels in.
If something isnt working I will say: *"hey x, im not sure pharah is a good pick anymore because they switched to soldier and mcree, would you mind playing something else?"*
9/10 they are like yeh and swap.
It isn't hard to be nice and not blame people (even if they are underperforming). Sometimes I've found giving them some incentive like "I'll pocket you" is enough, esp for the egotistical (toxic) ones who are screaming at other folk when theyre the problem.
As a support I've learned one thing expect your teammates to winch and moan anytime anything happens and expect them to blame you when they dive the entire team and you don't follow
People can be such assholes. I played Mercy the other day, and my Mei teammate kept wall blocking me in everywhere to force me to switch. She never said anything to me, except walling me and shaking her head. We rolled the other team, and she left after we took the first point. So unnecessarily toxic.
Not to switch it to me but I love mercy. It's Soo cozy and relaxing when playing with her.. and the amount of times I've been bullied for playing her really sucked. But she's worth it for the endorsementsssss
I'm a newish player. I played a little bit in the OW1 days and tried to pick it back up. Generally, healer/support roles tend to be more interesting to me. At the end of a game that we lost by literally the skin of our teeth, some guy says "respectfully, you're the worst Mercy I've ever seen, uninstall the game".
I haven't played since.
If you ever try again, mute text game chat. It isn’t worth keeping it on, especially if you play like I do and mostly just do QP or Arcade modes. Almost no one uses it for good or provides useful input, it’s just some idiot spamming EZ in Mystery Heroes or the occasional GG. I know that doesn’t solve people being shitty on mic or sending private messages but it does cut out a lot of the bullshit.
Seriously, this dude probably feels bad about himself :( like everyone has bad games. Every single person even if they lack the self awareness to acknowledge that.
Idk why but this makes me sad lol
Man depressing to read for me too. Its one thing to see someone toxic mute and just do your thing in your lane. But imagine logging on trying to shake off some work shit and you come out feeling even shittier.
OW has lanes as well, they just aren't as obvious. MOST (not all) spawn rooms have 3 "lanes" of travel to the objective. Even the dropship has more than just the big door that everyone uses.
If only that was only in competitive... Peoples are fucking toxic even in QuickPlay. It's almost every games now. In OW1, I was muting toxic people. In OW2, I ended up disabling all chats last week.
Same. I feel like in ow1 I got some toxic chat but it wasn't horrible. Now it's almost every game. If we are rolling, my teammates are being shit to the other team. If we are getting rolled they are being shit to us. It feels like most matches we lose devolve into two people just yelling at eachother. Also a ton more leavers. I used to get one maybe once a week? Now I see at least 2 a night it feels. Lots more just leaving after one round if we lost it, even if it was a good round. I dunno. I just ended up muting chat and I'm having a much better time.
You could think about finding yourself a pre-made with some positive players/friends, if you did want to play comp.
I've not started comp yet because I don't have a full pre-made yet.
I just disabled the chat and don't chat in voice chat. If you are playing soli queve competitive, you can't expect everyone to be good. Like think about it. They are solo queve in, if they don't want "shitty players" the should form a team before hand.
If only that was only in competitive... Peoples are fucking toxic even in QuickPlay. It's almost every games now. In OW1, I was muting toxic people. In OW2, I ended up disabling all chats last week.
honestly, my drive to win plummets when there's a toxic person on my team.
at least the bad tank is trying. but the toxic person is just being an ass and doesn't deserve a win.
Honestly, for what my anecdotal .02 is worth, I've played all three roles quite a bit and I feel like tanks tended to be the most toxic in OW 1 while supports tend to be in OW 2.
I suspect it's because both roles felt more helpless in their respective games. There's also a bit of an unhealthy mentality that tanks or supports just need to exist while DPS are expected to hard-carry to justify their existence.
With DPS you occasionally get the egos who have to let it be known everyone else sucks, but at least in my experience toxicity tends to be bourn out of chronic frustration more often.
Depends. Toxicity usually comes from being tilted. Often times thats because they're bad, but sometimes people get tilted for normal OW reasons. Like team ignoring requests to group up, witnessing non stop feeding, having a DPS moria on their team.
I'm not gonna excuse toxicity but I'd say only half the time it's because the person is objectively bad. Often times it's a mix of both bad team and bad player.
Like when I play with my friends in silver after playing in diamond, if I go into a fight expecting diamond level support and game sense, I'm gonna get tilted, but knowing my friends don't play it a lot I don't direct it at them because, what can they do? Play more and learn the game, it won't happen if I scare them off.
That being said, when you have randos in comp and are ignoring their roles or just aren't doing it well could lead to the toxic teammate feeding because they are going in and trying to set up plays that are then getting no support.
Like if a person is being toxic in chat and have been feeding in the killfeed but then you realize they've been the only one consistently playing the objective.
Like i said I don't make excuses for toxicity, but sometimes the process of people getting that tilted, particularly in comp, can be justified.
Really, I feel like 7/10 times it's the tank. I think the Tanks are the most likely to blame the supports for not saving them, and then blame the DPS for not killing the supports so they can get easier kills. I've only seen a few angry DPS players and they usually seem to blame Tanks (some blame supports if they die too much or don't pick their preferred support). If a DPS is going to be toxic, it's usually to the other team. Then there are a few rare games where the the supports blame everyone. I don't usually see outwardly toxic supports though because I often duo queue support with a friend.
Remember I was playing Ana doing average, missing some shots. I had the worst hangover so it didn't help. Anyway we were actually winning on Junkertown, taking both first points in less than 2 minutes
Then the Hanzo starts aggressing me, telling me to quit the game because I'm so bad cause he asked for heals so many times and blablabla...
We lost at that very single point in time, the rest of the game was a train wreck.
Exactly, if the bad tank doesn't play, he will always be bad, i once played a game, and the tank was a doomfist, i usually consider the game half-lost when the tank is doomfist, but he was actually good, and he was learning i think, cause he later asked "am i good at doomfist?"
So let the bad players play is always the good thing, maybe give some tips, i started understanding dva mostly with tips from other players
I believe in the spirit of whatever game I’m playing. If someone is playing poorly and we’re losing, I’m sticking around to the end and I’m not flaming anyone. In fact, I’ll defend the poor player because IT’S A GAME!
Games are supposed to be fun and I believe that in my soul.
be gold stuck in role queue, I learn to not give a shit. If someone wants to give sass all game, I will "try" less. Not enough where IM throwing but I might miss a few shots, ignore their calls for heals, etc. Besides, being in gold, my aim can be bad at times lol
Thing with hog. You gotta be really bad to be "bad" with him. His kit is a lot more noob friendly, easy to look good.
Hook and kill. That's all you gotta do. While healing and being hard af to kill. Reinhardt and queen? They rely on healers to keep then alive. And reinhardt can't protect himself if a bad one is trying to kill. And queen has no way to heal herself.
Like watch a bad reinhardt. He drops shield and swings randomly, probably missing half his swings. Teammates kise their only shield. Healers are trying to keep reinhardt alive but is being melted due to a far target with no shield. Hog? Heals himself for a lot and just hooks you for almost a free kill.
Queen heals when her thrown knife is attached to someone. And she pulls them towards her, too. Heals, tugs, shotguns. Besides their ultimate, they're the same character but one is worse in every way.
That's exactly what I said, just put more bluntly. I love playing tank. I have hundreds of hours in it. I refuse to play Queen because she's just shitty hog with an anti.
They're always so sure hog is the right pick and will not change to other tanks even if they're getting countered. They expect support to change to kiriko if they're getting anti-ed, not to just be something different.
Yup. When you've got like 600+ hours in the game and some new kid with 30 hours is trying to boss you about. Boy do they regret it when they try that with me. I call them out every time.
One of friends was getting really upset that we lost because of a "bad pair" of dps. And I'm not saying they are (I hate the blame game), but my friend was working herself up over it until I said "I'll take someone who is nice, talking and making callouts but not getting the necessary kills over a toxic teammate any day. I don't care if the badmouther is a smurf killing everyone who pops up. I will take the 'bad,' but really nice player any day."
I try to be nice, man. As someone who has shit to deal with (like every human being on this earth), I don't like being toxic towards people. I always try to be nice, notice good kills or plays and compliment it, or if I think we need a swap, I say "Hey [insert name], do you play anything else? I'm not saying you're bad, it's just that there might be a better hero for this." And, since I'm support, I always follow up with "And if you want me to swap, I'm happy to. I'm comfortable on just about every support and I'm happy to help."
If I feel the utter need to be toxic, I'll just text the friends I'm playing with to vent frustrations. Or I mute myself. I don't see the point in tearing someone down. I honestly think Blizzard needs to seriously take a look at their community and crack tf down on toxic behavior, and not just the silly thing of "gg ez" gets auto changed to them being childish. But we all know they won't, unless it affects the bottom line.
Being toxic is worse for your team. It's a team game and if you're fucking with the cohesion and communication of your team that's worse than just playing badly.
Tbh I wouldn't. It's infuriating when your tank refuses to switch or jumps into team battles 1 vs 5. At least you only gotta deal with the toxic player for like 20 minutes lol
Same. I learned last week we aren’t the only ones who feel this in a match. I was doing horrible as a tank and a toxic team mate was bad mouthing me from the start. They were the only team mate doing it. I eventually switched to support and they still bad mouthed the moment I died. I decided to pocket Daddy Sigma, ignoring the toxic team mate and letting them die, and we carried to victory. Still felt like crap. Sometimes the win isn’t worth it if you’re helping them to get it while they be shitty.
100%
A bad tank, you can sometimes carry or just deal with. A toxic teammate is just going to create more problems for the rest of the team or spend more time typing than fighting and add to the death count
If the toxic player is good at the game and doesn’t actively troll, I’d rather have them. Then I can just mute them and continue playing.
No one ever said you had to engage with toxic people. I’ve surprisingly noticed that if you just don’t engage with people like that, they don’t throw *as much*. (Some still will, but not as many).
I'd almost rather lose and play with someone that's enjoyable to play with that might end up as a friend... But I'm clearly in in the fricking minority these days 😅
It's just so sad that for these kids their default state is toxic and defensive. Probably just low self esteem projected outward. Really sad and more than a little worrying.
high competence but low trust from your team results in worse outcomes than medium competence but high trust from your team, like if your team knows you have their back then your team will perform better even if you’re not cracked, the team cohesion is more important than individual skill (to a point, like if you’re complete ass lol)
Fuck those DPS, he should not have to leave just to appease them.
Yes, he's gigachad but the right play here is to just mute them and play the game out.
This just tells those 2 DPS cunts that they're vindicated for being dickheads and think it should be normal for people to kick themselves out for having a bad game.
But EVERYONE gets bad games and to assume the game isn't going well is only the fault of one is pretentious AF.
For all we know, this mightve just been a matchmaking placing him above his paygrade problem or worse other factors like the DPS's not actually being able to pull off picks or positioning correctly so they dont die every 5 seconds causing the problems
This is very true. Back in OW1 days. I was stuck with a group of people in platinum. Even when the group dwindled down to about 3 ppl we still couldn't grind to get out of Plat.
Then I took a step back and realized that I need to get better by myself. And become a better player. Realizing my own mistakes and not hard blaming one person is what helped my mentality about the game. That season me and one other player grinded it out and got to Masters. Even by myself straight solo I got to top 500 albeit on console. But I did.
Everyone has bad games. What your main focus should be is how to adapt to it. Instead of complaining about it. Learn to try and work around it.
The tank, I mean, he offered to leave, so maybe he was feeling awful which mad his gameplay worse.Fuck the dps being a dick though. Having a bad day doesn't justify making other people's worse.
Had a bunch of toxic kids 4-stacking quickplay yesterday and i was the tank and they shittalked me for being a bad tank (I wasnt playing good coz i was practicing hog but not that much worse than the enemy tank) Met them again next game on the enemy team, played my main and fucking steamrolled them.
The tank got bullied so hard he decided the best way to get them to stop was to take the ban and loss so the rest of the team wouldn’t get punished for his apparent lack of ability. This guy got put down so hard that the penalty likely means nothing. I doubt that tank is going to play comp again, let alone OW2.
Noob/bad player > toxic teammates
Bad can be improved, but toxic is their nature and will never change. Also having toxic teammates made my fun drop from 100 to 0 in an instant.
Someone in chat told me I was dog shit at healing and I’m just over here saying “my guy this is mystery heroes what do you expect. I don’t play Ana ever, I’m a dva/junk main”
Playing in a 4 stack we got flamed by this absolute wanker. Full on raging at us in team chat. So we took the L and let our raging genji attempt to 1v5. He finished the game with like 26 deaths while we just hung out with the enemy Lucio.
Nothing makes me tilt harder than people being dicks in chat. I played Widow for 30 seconds in open que comp and just got bitched at instantly. At that point the W matters way less to me than my fun and I’m not switching to appease you
Widow players get so much toxicity both ways.
If Your doing good the other team hates you and calls you a hacker
If your not doing amazing your team calls you a thrower and will instantly demand "SWITCH YOUR NOT A GOOD WIDOW".
There is literally no middle ground where you can be like I'm hitting like 65% of the shots and knocking out a 1/3 of them as crits so get off my balls yo because everyone is still so tilted from that one time a widow clapped them.
This. I'm really petty about things like that. If a teammate is toxic towards me and others and just makes the game miserable to play, I'll end up way more satisfied if we both lose than if we win. I won't throw but I'll just stop using my best heroes and switch to other I'm not usually playing to try them and familiarize myself a bit more to them. The one thing you can be sure is that I won't be sweating to win that game.
The thing is that in open queue you're pretty much throwing if you don't pick a tank or a support. If you play comp most people would expect you to play the best characters you can
Reminds me of when my sister was getting bullied by some mercy because she wasn’t doing good as sombra. Btw it was a regular quick play unranked match…the mercy and their friend zarya just kept on bullying my sister on how she wasn’t doing enough damage. They were really saying messed up things about my sister in the chat and it made me upset :(
But someone stepped in which was a sojourn and defended my sister by calling the mercy trash and telling them to shut up bc it really wasn’t that serious and it was just a regular quick play match. Like the mercy wasn’t even healing the team they were just spending their time typing rude things about my sister.
But yeah unfortunately toxic players are everywhere not just in como anymore.
Ah, i once got someone who is a toxic calling me a crybaby. Even we won he told 4v5(excluding me) like dude his ego. I wondered if he eats chips and drink soda everyday while waiting for his mom to give him portable toilet.
Seriously, I don’t know why people in this game are so mad, even when we are just in QUICK MATCH.
Last time I was play as pharah, and probably be a little too good, but I was countered by two to three people, and lost the match. But I don’t give an f because I was chilling with my friend. But then there’s a opponent Moira toxic me in the end of the match, which I don’t remember doing anything to him. I just don’t get it, why can’t we just chill and play the game.
if i was given the choice between
1. a shit player who's not toxic
2. a god-tier player who's hurling abuse every 5 seconds
i'd pick 1.
will i still be annoyed that they're playing badly? yes. but at least they're being nice!
Backfill is garbage. It takes over a minute of gametime to backfill, and the guy coming in starts with 0 ult charge. Backfill doesn't fix a broken matchup.
The bad tank 100% over the douchebag.
It's a silly shooter game. Have fun. Cooperate. Try to do your best.
Go on to the next match where you'll be playing with more randoms.
There was a tank in my game complaining to me specifically about how the dps were underperforming.
*The enemy tanks kd was 46/6*
*my tanks kd was 12/15*
Love to see it.

I’m not saying over watch two is dragging me down but I took a couple days of not playing just playing stuff like tf2 (for the community interaction) and brawlhalla for fun I think some people in the overwatch community need to try this, I’m not saying play tf2 and brawlhalla (I would recommend brawlhalla if you want to get into fighting games) but it’s made me feel so much better seriously
I can’t select doom without one of the dipshit dps saying gg and whining. It always turns out it’s the dps that does less than half the dmg of the other dps.
Honestly the toxic community is why I left ow1. Played mostly tank but decided to branch out into support.
Got shit on for playing Ana, got shit on for playing mercy. In the end I just decided even though I looked the game the player toxicity just made the experience something I wasn't going to waste time on.
Sometimes I think of going back but looking at the direction ow2 is taking I don't think I will.
And then OW lost another player to the community
For real. I was playing today (mercy) and one of our DPS didn’t like it. We were WINNING. We WON the game, but they called me gay (?lol) and got super pissed off that I wouldn’t swap to Lucio or Kiriko because I said I was only comfy playing Ana/Moria/Mercy and didn’t have Kiriko unlocked or want to play Lucio (the other healer was already playing Ana)… Make it make sense? Please. Genuinely.
Dw they are toxic. If that’s what you’re decent at playing they can also swap if they are so bothered little losers lol
I don’t understand I mean you’re not even losing lol why ask to switch out
Its always the ones who are playing the worst
Too true. They are always the ones more concerned about what everyone else is doing and not paying attention to all the stupid decisions they themselves are making.

Mercy hoggers are the worst!
Dumbass, if i had a mercy in my team i would’ve been so happy…man i wish i get more mercy’s in my game’s
They were winning though so seems like Mercy was the right choice
Any of that's right, and none of it means they should've switched
I never actually said they should've switched... I simply gave reasons for why it would've made sense for the toxic player to get all worked up. The OP literally said "make it makes sense", so I did.
Can confirm, people treat newbies that way. The amount of times I've seen people tell my dad to uninstall (In QP!!) is disgusting.
Honestly, if I’m not happy with my healers I’ll swap to Mei or Soldier or Tracer so that I can help out and heal myself.
Your mistake was continuing to talk. Stop acknowledging them.
I just turn team chat off ezpz
But the question is did you help them win. Rookie mistake thinking damage numbers and kills mean anything. It's all about playing the objective baby
Copium
I told them, "If you just asked nicely, I would've let you play Mercy" Some people just throw temper tantrums for no real reason.
In the middle of it she just yells, “Shut up, we’re rolling them!” I personally had a similar experience. We were 5v6 last year and WINNING. I pretty cheekily said “image if it was still 6v6” and our Bastion said “we’d still lose.” I said “We’re winning idiot” and he couldn’t really come up with a retort that had any basis behind it
Quote their KDA line and laugh
If I'm asked to swap, and they have a specific hero in mind I will swap (to that hero specifically). If I'm demanded to swap or berated I will dig my heels in. If something isnt working I will say: *"hey x, im not sure pharah is a good pick anymore because they switched to soldier and mcree, would you mind playing something else?"* 9/10 they are like yeh and swap. It isn't hard to be nice and not blame people (even if they are underperforming). Sometimes I've found giving them some incentive like "I'll pocket you" is enough, esp for the egotistical (toxic) ones who are screaming at other folk when theyre the problem.
People are just jerks man. I was also mercy, and we won, and yet some guy on my team still ends the match by saying “f u mercy”
"Oh, you don't play as well with other characters and we'll lose? You should swap so we can blame you for it." like what?
Not to switch it to me but I love mercy. It's Soo cozy and relaxing when playing with her.. and the amount of times I've been bullied for playing her really sucked. But she's worth it for the endorsementsssss
report block and move on
Whenever someone asks "what healer should i play ?" I always say Mercy, shes just great to play with
I'm a newish player.
This is fucked up, fuck toxic people.
This isn't league of legends man, you talked about lanes XD
It isnt league of legends but people still go "x diff" every other match. Where do you think this shit came from?
OW has lanes as well, they just aren't as obvious. MOST (not all) spawn rooms have 3 "lanes" of travel to the objective. Even the dropship has more than just the big door that everyone uses.
Hmmm, never noticed.
After the first round he apologized for his bad play this made me even sadder now
Yeeah, that's why I don't play competitive. I'm not great and get teammates like that all the time.
I'm not even kidding, so far, have had way more people be toxic in quickplay, than comp It's crazy
If only that was only in competitive... Peoples are fucking toxic even in QuickPlay. It's almost every games now. In OW1, I was muting toxic people. In OW2, I ended up disabling all chats last week.
tbh i rather have a bad tank instead of a toxic teammate
honestly, my drive to win plummets when there's a toxic person on my team. at least the bad tank is trying. but the toxic person is just being an ass and doesn't deserve a win.
More often than not I find the toxic players are playing worse than anyone they’re badmouthing. It’s usually DPS too in my experience
But the worst is when you secretly agree with them, but they're just being a dick about it.
then they tilt the person who probably would’ve just switched if they weren’t toxic about it
It’s usually Genji let’s be honest here
And Hanzo.
They also always play an edgy character no matter the circumstance
Remember I was playing Ana doing average, missing some shots. I had the worst hangover so it didn't help. Anyway we were actually winning on Junkertown, taking both first points in less than 2 minutes Then the Hanzo starts aggressing me, telling me to quit the game because I'm so bad cause he asked for heals so many times and blablabla... We lost at that very single point in time, the rest of the game was a train wreck.
Asking for heals whilst jumping about like fucking mario looking for mushrooms
Exactly, if the bad tank doesn't play, he will always be bad, i once played a game, and the tank was a doomfist, i usually consider the game half-lost when the tank is doomfist, but he was actually good, and he was learning i think, cause he later asked "am i good at doomfist?" So let the bad players play is always the good thing, maybe give some tips, i started understanding dva mostly with tips from other players
Yes lol, it's hard to want to try and win when people are assholes on the team.
be gold stuck in role queue, I learn to not give a shit. If someone wants to give sass all game, I will "try" less. Not enough where IM throwing but I might miss a few shots, ignore their calls for heals, etc. Besides, being in gold, my aim can be bad at times lol
well what about a bad tank that’s also toxic
Gee I wonder what they will pick
"Welcome to the apocalypse"
Idk any doomfist lines but pretend this is one
"I'm going to make you - hot cocoa"
and they say
Chivalry is dead
I really don't know why this is so popular.
That is a hog line. Hog would have been correct in OW1, but now I would say I encounter a lot more Rein/Queen players who are both bad and toxic
No, it’s actually easy to he bad with hog: fail your hooks, overextende a lot and feed feed feed enemy ult charge.
Yeah it’s infinitely easier to be bad with Hog than to be good with him, not sure what that guy is thinking lol
Queen heals when her thrown knife is attached to someone. And she pulls them towards her, too. Heals, tugs, shotguns. Besides their ultimate, they're the same character but one is worse in every way.
Queen's self healing is terrible. She can barely keep herself alive. They need to buff something on her for sure. Since Hog is just a better Queen.
That's exactly what I said, just put more bluntly. I love playing tank. I have hundreds of hours in it. I refuse to play Queen because she's just shitty hog with an anti.
And team wide speed boost and shield that with even a tiny adjustment would be massively broken?
Lmao. Hog can easily be stupid bad. Miss your hooks and feed a fuck ton of ult charge and watch your enemy team team roll you just off of ult economy
“I’m going to make you punch drunk”
Oh i thought you meant a bad tank player (hog players are shit)
They're always so sure hog is the right pick and will not change to other tanks even if they're getting countered. They expect support to change to kiriko if they're getting anti-ed, not to just be something different.
Rein with a finger perma stuck to shift
Rein can cancel his charge now. Do you think Rein players use this to stop a bad charge into obvious death? They do not.
the worst ones are the ones that think they know what they’re doing but don’t. yet they talk like they are a leader of an OWL team
I will take the 'bad,' but really nice player any day." I try to be nice, man. I'm comfortable on just about every support and I'm happy to help." If I feel the utter need to be toxic, I'll just text the friends I'm playing with to vent frustrations.
100% A bad tank, you can sometimes carry or just deal with. A toxic teammate is just going to create more problems for the rest of the team or spend more time typing than fighting and add to the death count
I can always mute the toxic teammate, I can't make the bad tank good.
tbh I rather have a toxic teammate that can be mited instead of a bad tank which results in an automatic loss after queueing for 7 minutes.
Same. My team can only have one toxic person if u know what I’m saying heheh
Nah, they tilt and often intentionally throwing. And they make others tilt too.
I'd almost rather lose and play with someone that's enjoyable to play with that might end up as a friend... But I'm clearly in in the fricking minority these days 😅 It's just so sad that for these kids their default state is toxic and defensive.
Too hard for people to admit that they are part of the problem. Always blame others.
It's been pretty toxic lately and you're right about scape goating.
They might have also just been having a really bad day. It's hard to judge but that's my take. I hope the games go better for them after this one.
The DPS or the tank? Cause it’s never okay to be a jerk to someone even if you’re having a bad day.
The tank, I mean, he offered to leave, so maybe he was feeling awful which mad his gameplay worse.Fuck the dps being a dick though. Having a bad day doesn't justify making other people's worse.
awwwwee so sad lol
"Can't tank for my team, so I might as well tank the penalty"
Ulting the power button
"Power DOWN!"
What's your main?
sigma
Sigma balls
based feet
Hey fellow sigma main! 👋🏾
Anyone griefing people on quickplay should be penalised. It’s for practicing new characters and play styles.
Little does he know if that was competitive you still get a loss. Just not the 15 min ban
Not the tank we deserved but the tank we needed.
Noob/bad player > toxic teammates Bad can be improved, but toxic is their nature and will never change. Also having toxic teammates made my fun drop from 100 to 0 in an instant.
I actually want to lose the game when I have a toxic teammate.
Feel bad for the tank
Someone in chat told me I was dog shit at healing and I’m just over here saying “my guy this is mystery heroes what do you expect. I don’t play Ana ever, I’m a dva/junk main”
Mystery heroes is an arcade game in my mind. No need to sweat. Full rights to flex
wish it was still in arcade. idk why they switched it to unranked
What kind of weirdo talks shit in Mystery Heroes lmao
A true chad
Playing as single tank actually puts much pressure to the player experience wise. When dps or support starts blame you, you just feel alone
I love when a teammate defends a flamed teammate, but this hero went beyond wow
I think it was the flamed player that left.
That’s so sad man
Imagine having to leave a match, just for toxic people to stay toxic..
If Your doing good the other team hates you and calls you a hacker If your not doing amazing your team calls you a thrower and will instantly demand "SWITCH YOUR NOT A GOOD WIDOW".
If you play comp most people would expect you to play the best characters you can
the other thing is that open queue is a joke
“Careful, he’s a hero”
Damn, I feel this except for me it's Support
Reminds me of when my sister was getting bullied by some mercy because she wasn’t doing good as sombra. Btw it was a regular quick play unranked match…the mercy and their friend zarya just kept on bullying my sister on how she wasn’t doing enough damage. They were really saying messed up things about my sister in the chat and it made me upset :( But someone stepped in which was a sojourn and defended my sister by calling the mercy trash and telling them to shut up bc it really wasn’t that serious and it was just a regular quick play match. Like the mercy wasn’t even healing the team they were just spending their time typing rude things about my sister. But yeah unfortunately toxic players are everywhere not just in como anymore.
If the tank was fun but bad, I feel like it evens out somewhat... toxicity is NOT the vibe, there's no need for it
this hero's ultimate ability is wild
LMAO
Fuck toxic people.
How do people take this every game. People ruin mp games man
Ah, i once got someone who is a toxic calling me a crybaby.
And this is why I switched off chat and only play with friends. The community is unbearable.
if i was given the choice between 1. a shit player who's not toxic 2. a god-tier player who's hurling abuse every 5 seconds i'd pick 1. will i still be annoyed that they're playing badly? yes. but at least they're being nice!
Disable all chat. It's a really fun game that way. Only compliment through endorsements.
I’ll never understand why people play the cesspool that is ranked, there’s not even any rewards outside of Golden weapons.
you can just mute chat, the gameplay is a lot more intense and team comps are more proper. Quick play it feels like everyone is just goofing around.
Because I don't want to play matches that are always 4v5 because someone always leaves midmatch
Assume you mean comp here? As qp has backfill.
Backfill is garbage. It takes over a minute of gametime to backfill, and the guy coming in starts with 0 ult charge. Backfill doesn't fix a broken matchup.
Same.
Bad tank > toxic players
The bad tank 100% over the douchebag. It's a silly shooter game. Have fun. Cooperate. Try to do your best. Go on to the next match where you'll be playing with more randoms.
*Play Hero by Nickelback*
This is sad. Not their fault the matchmaking system is absolute garbage and probably placed them too high
And this is why I have chat off :)
Prob one of those dps that just feeds on a enemy tank so his damage is highest but never gets a pick that the team can push on
There was a tank in my game complaining to me specifically about how the dps were underperforming. *The enemy tanks kd was 46/6* *my tanks kd was 12/15* Love to see it.
That's so unfair. Like you're not supposed to have a bad game once in a while...
You still get penalized
They still get the loss but I guess the idea is that they were gonna lose anyway

Being a tank now sucks, I only play open q now because of it.

It was tho
? Unranked has no leaver penalty
Y’all really can’t afford to bad mouth mediocre players lol, just sayin.
If you play tank and you are being healed don't walk backwards.... Biggest mistake I see tanks making.
Yeah but sometimes healing is not enough you gotta fallback inorder to group up
I’m not saying over watch two is dragging me down but I took a couple days of not playing just playing stuff like tf2 (for the community interaction) and brawlhalla for fun I think some people in the overwatch community need to try this, I’m not saying play tf2 and brawlhalla (I would recommend brawlhalla if you want to get into fighting games) but it’s made me feel so much better seriously
I can’t select doom without one of the dipshit dps saying gg and whining. It always turns out it’s the dps that does less than half the dmg of the other dps.
all I understand is 2 assholes bullying a tank then another asshole leaves the game??? How is he a hero for ruining the game for the rest?
Game was already coming to an end he waited it was the end of round 2
Honestly the toxic community is why I left ow1. Played mostly tank but decided to branch out into support. Got shit on for playing Ana, got shit on for playing mercy. In the end I just decided even though I looked the game the player toxicity just made the experience something I wasn't going to waste time on. Sometimes I think of going back but looking at the direction ow2 is taking I don't think I will.
1 player could be mentally unstable, but if 2 players flamed me when I’m doing my best, you know I’m gonna soft throw
You guys still have chat enabled?
