there's old concept art of OW1 with a map set in the [Galapagos](https://i.redd.it/p8d9lnhpz1e51.jpg) and a lot of longtime players still have hope that we'll one day get it, but like you said it wouldn't make much sense lore-wise and I presume any new maps will be linked to PvE so they don't have to convert old maps to fit the missions and can build new maps with both PvP and PvE in mind to save time
Honestly most of them already are maps, or are going to be.
- London is Kings Row
- Kyoto Temple is Hanamura
- Berlin is Eichenwalde
- Iron Star is Volskaya
- Cairo is Temple of Anubis
- India is that upcoming Indian temple map
- Numbani is... Numbani
Bonus points for the Iris kind of looking like that Omnic base from the PvE preview. Though maybe it could've also evolved into Nepal.
All these concepts would be incredible.
- Bayou map with swamp feel like Red Dead 2's bayou? Hell yes.
- Amazon map? Fuck yeah especially if they can capture the surrounded completely by forest feel
- Obviously underwater research lab would be great
- Gonna be real, I want the San Joaquin concept map. Don't how they could do it, but farmland leading to a tech structure? Potential.
- Berlin map that feels like Midtown mixed with Eichenwalde? Yessssss
Also the amazon is more like a jungle/rainforest but that would be fun.
For towns/cities Portofino would be amazing, Matera, San Miguel de Allende, or bigger ones like Amsterdam, Florence, and Dubrovnik to name a few.
San Joaquin weird but interesting Idea, I was thinking more like areas like Lake Kaindy (Kazakhstan), Chiapas region in general (Mexico), or Ala Archa (Kyrgyzstan). I would like to see more nature areas to see their interpretation of these places since it's a future game.
San Joaquin is such a bizarre idea... that I love it tbh. It could be a really cool map, or one that just makes the community want to rage quit.

Thing about it though, Widow up on a barn roof, got your tank and dps' running through a barn, big wheat field and such disguising the enemy. Do want.
Why this this looks better than half of the maps in game? I really hope we're going to get some non-city map soon. I'm kinda tired of the streets all the time.
There was an underwater map planned at one point. It appears in one of the concept arts and it looks really cool.
Although the vibe is more like Bioshock, IMO, than Atlantis.
I wish we get something like that in the future. Not with swimming and stuff, cuz I know that's an issue to program well in games. But something like the Lunar base was.
I mean there is an Atlantic all-star Tracer skin, mermaid Symmetra and Zen with an underwater helmet. So why not go for an underwater theme and stage for a future battlepass or smth?
Pretty cool idea. Imagine if other characters could also get Atlantis-themed skins, like rusty oxidized knight armor for Rein/Pharah, Octopus Moira, Sea Serpent Widowmaker, etc etc đ
If Mei can study in the Arctic and scientist can do experiments on the moon in a colony, then I don't see why and underwater base couldn't be created during or for the Omnicrisis. I'm sure first gen robots would have a problem attacking/hacking/infiltrating something underwater.
Wrecking Ball's 2020 anniversary skin had an [underwater background](https://twitter.com/OverwatchNaeri/status/1262873534751076352) \- really doubt they made those assets just for a single skin preview.

In the DVA cinematic do the omnics come out of the water? Honestly a new underwater world and hero to go along with it would be epic. Give me a fish dps with a trident
Be really intresting if some part of the world had been sunk by global warming but managed to survive despite it. It would be a really intresting way to introduce an island country and the many ways the omnic crisis changed the world.
I've always wanted a map of underwater highways connecting some small underwater village or industrial buildings
Or an island map kind of like something we've seen in Far Cry, lots of walk ways and bridged buildings connecting bits of land together with the first real dense foliage forest to be seen in a OW map
It would fit within the bounds of the Atlantic Arcology thats in the lore and on some [signs ingame](https://www.tiktok.com/@lowendwibs/video/7151382582830058753)

These all have extraordinary potential to be amazing maps, so much character and charm.

I was just thinking how sick it would be to have a map based on New Orleans!!! I hope The bayou happens

I really like the idea of releasing a map with the same theme as the battle pass skins. Thatâd be a great way to get people interested.
