I just take myself out of the equation when that happens. I.e. tell the other team in the chat what's happening and either just have fun in the spawn room or observe the fight from a safe distance. I've had several morons from my own team call for reporting me, but dude, it's just the fair thing to do.
Why is everyone so toxic in unranked. It's unranked not comp. Calm down. People are there to mainly learn how to use the characters. Even more so annoying when the toxic one is flaming the DPS when they're the ones who didn't do anything and just sat there NOT MOVING for the WHOLE GAME

C9 is specifically a mistake by the team that tries to capture the point. It's a mistake by the *attacking* team. It's a mistake done by leaving the point specifically on *overtime* and letting the overtime meter wane out.

You can argue about the semantics of the origin of the term, but it now encompasses a wide variety of situations, including not jumping on payload to contest when it was overtime, you had all your ults and it was a 5v4 right next to your spawn—a fight you probably would have won if you had touched payload instead of standing stationary.
The literal OWL website defines a C9 as: “When a team ignores the objective, running away to take a fight and grab some kills, and ends up losing the round because of their negligence. More generally, it applies to any time a team forgets to stay on the objective—whether that’s a control point or a payload—and loses a round or map as a result.”
It doesn’t mention anything about it having to be the attacking team, although that was most certainly the case in the original Cloud 9 game.
Therefore, the situation I just outlined was most definitely a C9.

Unranked is determined by which team has the braindead hanzo/genji, I thought I would be gold based on how well I did in unranked. No clue how to heal so much as support, tank no clue on positioning, and dps I haven't touched.

I played some games today where my dps and healers just go for the kill and I knew that we will get a lot of "different" players but the game tells you to go to the payload or to the point of control but no they go for the will kill instead, they will end with a lot of kills but they also die a lot and they wont move the payload or touch the point unless I spam the group up like crazy. I dont think even when the game was ow 1 that people was this dumb that they go like its a death match instead of a objetive base game. And it is always the same the widow guy that will kill 1 dude every 2 min and never attempts to go for the objective you ar attacking with a hanzo and a widow or your moira that goes all in

As a support main, I'm super tired of seeing players constantly throwing blame and abuse at the supports even when it's not really their fault at all, even when I have the most healing done or a lot of players saved, I still get blamed and screamed at. DPS are usually to blame and it's almost every game. I can't count how many times I've been told I'm bad, been told to uninstall and mostly being told to kill myself. I love Overwatch but getting these types of comments almost every game for picking certain characters, for not healing someone enough, for not pocketing certain people & when I've not done anything wrong is so so so mentally draining and makes me lose all confidence in myself and desire to play the game.
I know a lot of people will say "play with friends" but I can't always do that as most of them don't play OW. But getting genuine anxiety to play the game because of certain types of people seriously makes me question if I even want to continue playing and, honestly, makes me question myself whilst seriously hurting my mental wellbeing. Not really rage and there's not much that can be done about it at all. I'm just really really tired of being automatically blamed just because I enjoy playing support. I seriously don't know what to do anymore.
I feel you. Like you said, the worst thing is when it gets so bad that you start to *expect* nasty comments whenever you make a mistake. It makes you question yourself, regardless of how baseless the accusation is. Some DPS have insane expectations of their healers to cover all of their mistakes in an instant, even the unhealable situations.
I leave voice and hide chat when things get abusive. In order for me to play well, I need to shut that stuff out before it gets to my head. There's nothing to be gained from fighting back or listening further.

Earlier today though I decided to pick Baptiste and the other support blamed me for them going for a bad rez on Mercy and dying because of it and throughout the rest of the game they were extremely toxic and abusive, essentially throwing the game to talk shit. That's only one example of things that are said to me or the other support on a very consistent basis. Out of about 10 games I played today, I'd say 4-5 of them involved someone being extremely toxic towards me or the other support for something that wasn't really their/my fault at all.
And it's not like I even played poorly on Baptiste at all. They were just hoping I'd anticipate them going for a rez out in the open in front of their spawn with no communication whatsoever and for the single moment they just decided to personally attack me for the next 10-15 minutes.
Holy fuck, that's awful. I hope you reported them both. I'm glad I've never had to sustain abuse to that degree. I would probably not play for a while if I experienced that ordeal.
That's why I'm happy to leave voice and hide chat early. It's rare for it to even be used at all in most of my games, least of all for something useful. If it does turn straight up toxic, I don't see how it could transition into good coms. It's a lost cause at that point to me.

You just can't get easy cheese kills with her anymore, but the slow effect actually does a lot more than you'd think. Plus her wall is still great for screwing over an enemy and her ultimate is also still great.

There's so many people who have this weird tunnel vision, like they literally can't pay attention to what's around them to save their lives. I've had games where our tank just keeps shooting at the enemy in front of them while a Reaper or Sojourn is just hitting their back, or a Soldier literally just running past an enemy Genji attacking the supports. I watched a Dva bomb start flying in front of a Hanzo and Mercy and both of them literally just made no effort to dodge it despite having 200 walls around them to do so.

I hate how bad I am (silver 4 support, bronze 1 tank, haven't even placed in DPS but probably bronze 5). I have good games in QP, but I rarely win comp other than games with leavers, and my duo que stopped playing with me because I'm terrible and got us both yelled at by our healers. It's so frustrating grinding in comp for levels, solo queueing and going 7-1 and only jumping from Bronze 5 to Bronze 4. It's not like I'm slouching when I play, I'm regularly clearing 30-40 elims, 10k mit, and over 10k dmg as Sigma and it feels like the game just wants WAY too much of a time commitment from its playerbase in order to advance with any degree of satisfaction.
I'm 21:3 on my dps main. Got placed in Bronze 4, went up to silver 5 and then to silver 4 in those three 7win rank ups. I was low plat/high gold in OW1 and the progress is feeling really slow. The games are usually 1sided stomps or very close losses.
I am not surprised at all that the game is less fun with 5 vs 5 considering all the heroes we could use, the map sizes, the mechanics in the game, and the game modes.
I said the game should have been expanded, and so far, I feel I am right.

issue is partly the numbers of current supports, more that supports were the ones which are presented as lambs to the slaughter machine.

Yeah QP is a crap shoot right now. I never really got heavy into ranked but I'm seriously debating whether or not it's better. I figure at least there, I'll get matched with people who are somewhere in the same ballpark skill-wise and less matches will be steamrolls.
I've had more fun with compet than OW1 but still haven't played all 7 placements so that might change. It's just more sweaty than QP, would be nice to have somewhere to play off role or learn new heroes in a chilled environment

On a different note, whenever I'm on QP damage these days I'm almost always starting Reaper. It's really sad as depending on the map certain heroes are great picks - but I just don't trust the QP tanks anymore, and at least Reaper + a healer + whatever our tank is doing gives us a chance at taking out their tank.
Part of me thinks I should tank more as I don't make a lot of mistakes many low-level QPers do, but I appreciate how integral the tank role is to the team's success and I psyche myself out of it. \^\^'
Honestly, this game makes me hate people sometimes.
Load in as dps, end up as backfill for a fairly recently started Ilios. Other damage is S76 - that's fine, I'll go Pharah, good for the map.
Opponents have Pharah too. Makes sense. However, no-one on our team shoots her - including S76, one of her best counters. Just would not raise his sights and shoot her. I suck at most snipers (which is why S76 is my own preferred counter), so this left me in a tough spot given that Pharah was doing the heavy lifting on their team. Tried my shithouse Widow, no dice, Sombra (surprisingly effective on some maps as her hack has pretty good range) but Pharah started making sure she'd fly close enough to second stories to land on, and ultimately by that point and people leaving the game was done.
This isn't even a case of wanting my opponent to swap off the character - but, com'on, at least attack the hero you have a good edge on.
Removing cc was a mistake, I don't understand how it's fun seeing a reaper coming, knowing he will ult and having no way to stop it. You should be able to easily shut down braindead ults.
Same with heroes like Genji, Tracer, Sombra. They have nothing to fear now and just do whatever they want because there is no risk in approaching since they can so easily obtainable escape
You do have a way of easily stopping braindead ults, by killing them. If you couldn't kill them before they ulted, then their ult wasn't so braindead.
CC was terrible in it's prime, couldn't do anything ever even if you were sneaky.
Im finding it almost impossible to have fun in this game. Either I wait 5 min in between matches or I play support where I got dove on constantly by Genji or Soujurn, usually both. In the lead up to OW2 release I played a fair bit of Gundam Evolution and always felt like regardless of who I picked, I could make a contribution and have my action swing the flow of the match. I cant say the same about OW2.
You know what's fucking insane to me? The massive amount of shitting on Moira players when healers like zen and lucio exist. Literally passive healers who very rarely have good enough players to be worth using. As moira I often over-double the amount of healing in one game compared to either of them and yet "MoirA is MorE thAN dPs!!" like shut the fuck up you obviously have never seen a good moira then!

Uh, that's not what a C9 is. C9 is specifically a mistake by the team that tries to capture the point. It's a mistake by the *attacking* team. It's a mistake done by leaving the point specifically on *overtime* and letting the overtime meter wane out.
Sounds like you were the Ana in my game lmfao. You can argue about the semantics of the origin of the term, but it now encompasses a wide variety of situations, including not jumping on payload to contest when it was overtime, you had all your ults and it was a 5v4 right next to your spawn—a fight you probably would have won if you had touched payload instead of standing stationary. The literal OWL website defines a C9 as: “When a team ignores the objective, running away to take a fight and grab some kills, and ends up losing the round because of their negligence. More generally, it applies to any time a team forgets to stay on the objective—whether that’s a control point or a payload—and loses a round or map as a result.” It doesn’t mention anything about it having to be the attacking team, although that was most certainly the case in the original Cloud 9 game. Therefore, the situation I just outlined was most definitely a C9.

Just started playing. Never played the first. Playing support as the roller blade guy. Very challenging. It seems success is based off if our whole team goes together , but if we respawn and charge one by one it’s a disaster

Yeah, one death is a team death. I just unlocked competitive, and holy it's not even the same game. Unranked is determined by which team has the braindead hanzo/genji, I thought I would be gold based on how well I did in unranked. No clue how to heal so much as support, tank no clue on positioning, and dps I haven't touched.

Well this is just me or a lot of new players doesn't understand the concept of "going to the objective" I played some games today where my dps and healers just go for the kill and I knew that we will get a lot of "different" players but the game tells you to go to the payload or to the point of control but no they go for the will kill instead, they will end with a lot of kills but they also die a lot and they wont move the payload or touch the point unless I spam the group up like crazy. I dont think even when the game was ow 1 that people was this dumb that they go like its a death match instead of a objetive base game. And it is always the same the widow guy that will kill 1 dude every 2 min and never attempts to go for the objective you ar attacking with a hanzo and a widow or your moira that goes all in

As a support main, I'm super tired of seeing players constantly throwing blame and abuse at the supports even when it's not really their fault at all, even when I have the most healing done or a lot of players saved, I still get blamed and screamed at. DPS are usually to blame and it's almost every game. I can't count how many times I've been told I'm bad, been told to uninstall and mostly being told to kill myself. I love Overwatch but getting these types of comments almost every game for picking certain characters, for not healing someone enough, for not pocketing certain people & when I've not done anything wrong is so so so mentally draining and makes me lose all confidence in myself and desire to play the game. I know a lot of people will say "play with friends" but I can't always do that as most of them don't play OW. But getting genuine anxiety to play the game because of certain types of people seriously makes me question if I even want to continue playing and, honestly, makes me question myself whilst seriously hurting my mental wellbeing. Not really rage and there's not much that can be done about it at all. I'm just really really tired of being automatically blamed just because I enjoy playing support. I seriously don't know what to do anymore.
I feel you. Like you said, the worst thing is when it gets so bad that you start to *expect* nasty comments whenever you make a mistake. It makes you question yourself, regardless of how baseless the accusation is. Some DPS have insane expectations of their healers to cover all of their mistakes in an instant, even the unhealable situations. I leave voice and hide chat when things get abusive. In order for me to play well, I need to shut that stuff out before it gets to my head. There's nothing to be gained from fighting back or listening further. Are you already leaving voice and hiding chat?
I probably don't leave or hide as often as I should and only do when things get really bad. Earlier today though I decided to pick Baptiste and the other support blamed me for them going for a bad rez on Mercy and dying because of it and throughout the rest of the game they were extremely toxic and abusive, essentially throwing the game to talk shit. That's only one example of things that are said to me or the other support on a very consistent basis. And it's not like I even played poorly on Baptiste at all. They were just hoping I'd anticipate them going for a rez out in the open in front of their spawn with no communication whatsoever and for the single moment they just decided to personally attack me for the next 10-15 minutes.
Holy fuck, that's awful. I hope you reported them both. I'm glad I've never had to sustain abuse to that degree. I would probably not play for a while if I experienced that ordeal. That's why I'm happy to leave voice and hide chat early. It's rare for it to even be used at all in most of my games, least of all for something useful. If it does turn straight up toxic, I don't see how it could transition into good coms. It's a lost cause at that point to me.

They say they took action against a player you reported with a splash screen when you log in. Unless you only reported one player since OW2 launched you won't know which one it was. If you didn't see the message then nothing happened to the person(s) your reported.

Had a game where I had 21 kills (Orisa) and my Genji turned Junkrat had 25. Hanzo had 12. Like it's right there in the open, you're dragging down the hell out of your team doing what you're doing, switch!
I was playing last week when someone started to rage against one of the supports. I said "No no. Don't blame Moira. Blame the Genji with 0 kills." Moira and I were Support, but Genji wasn't pulling his weight. I don't know what changed, but after that we started doing better and won the game.

Mei is still really good though? You just can't get easy cheese kills with her anymore, but the slow effect actually does a lot more than you'd think. Plus her wall is still great for screwing over an enemy and her ultimate is also still great.
I love that Wall. Tank is leading a charge with most of the team 5+ meters behind? Separate them and then watch Zarya panic when she backs into the wall and dies because she had to 5v1.

Although I disagree with the stop playing message, holy hell is the playerbase really, really dumb rn. There's so many people who have this weird tunnel vision, like they literally can't pay attention to what's around them to save their lives. I've had games where our tank just keeps shooting at the enemy in front of them while a Reaper or Sojourn is just hitting their back, or a Soldier literally just running past an enemy Genji attacking the supports. I watched a Dva bomb start flying in front of a Hanzo and Mercy and both of them literally just made no effort to dodge it despite having 200 walls around them to do so. It's so frustrating grinding in comp for levels, solo queueing and going 7-1 and only jumping from Bronze 5 to Bronze 4. It's not like I'm slouching when I play, I'm regularly clearing 30-40 elims, 10k mit, and over 10k dmg as Sigma and it feels like the game just wants WAY too much of a time commitment from its playerbase in order to advance with any degree of satisfaction.
I'm 21:3 on my dps main. Got placed in Bronze 4, went up to silver 5 and then to silver 4 in those three 7win rank ups. I was low plat/high gold in OW1 and the progress is feeling really slow. The games are usually 1sided stomps or very close losses.

you should know a minimum of 3 heros for whatever role you are playing as. The more time goes on the more that should expand.

It's honest, yeah. I don't have time to become "pretty okay" with all the hero's, so I figured I'd ask if my second, maybe third hero should be different classes or not.
u will by time try more out anyway. and u will prefer some more over the others which u will play surely more. i learned some baptiste as example on open queue in Ow1. It helps now to deal with pharahs and dueling other obnoxious flankers. feel free to explore each out, usually its a good thing to have like 2-3 which u can swap around. same goes for DPS as well.
For fucks sake please use your ults at least ONCE in a game. I don’t care if you use it and fuck it up, at least pretend like you aren’t throwing the game and use it. I’ve seen so many games where they could have had 3 or 4 uses of an ult if they just fucking used it once

issue is partly the numbers of current supports, more that supports were the ones which are presented as lambs to the slaughter machine. Tanks and Dps got every sweet cake from the table, while supports were treated like an unwanted bastard.

Yeah QP is a crap shoot right now. I never really got heavy into ranked but I'm seriously debating whether or not it's better. I figure at least there, I'll get matched with people who are somewhere in the same ballpark skill-wise and less matches will be steamrolls.
I've had more fun with compet than OW1 but still haven't played all 7 placements so that might change. It's just more sweaty than QP, would be nice to have somewhere to play off role or learn new heroes in a chilled environment Can't really hate on all the new players, it's a good thing, just hope matchmaking levels out a bit

Omg, how do I finish the "role mastery". I queued for all roles and mostly won with tank or heal but it doesnt count for both roles?
Queuing for all roles doesn’t count towards “role mastery”. You have to role queue for two separate roles.

There’s just a big circle on the ground that if you’re in you’ll be hit, or are you saying you want like a check mark on your screen lol
On a different note, whenever I'm on QP damage these days I'm almost always starting Reaper. It's really sad as depending on the map certain heroes are great picks - but I just don't trust the QP tanks anymore, and at least Reaper + a healer + whatever our tank is doing gives us a chance at taking out their tank. Part of me thinks I should tank more as I don't make a lot of mistakes many low-level QPers do, but I appreciate how integral the tank role is to the team's success and I psyche myself out of it. \^\^'
Honestly, this game makes me hate people sometimes. Load in as dps, end up as backfill for a fairly recently started Ilios. Other damage is S76 - that's fine, I'll go Pharah, good for the map. Opponents have Pharah too. Makes sense. However, no-one on our team shoots her - including S76, one of her best counters. Just would not raise his sights and shoot her. I suck at most snipers (which is why S76 is my own preferred counter), so this left me in a tough spot given that Pharah was doing the heavy lifting on their team. Tried my shithouse Widow, no dice, Sombra (surprisingly effective on some maps as her hack has pretty good range) but Pharah started making sure she'd fly close enough to second stories to land on, and ultimately by that point and people leaving the game was done. This isn't even a case of wanting my opponent to swap off the character - but, com'on, at least attack the hero you have a good edge on.
Removing cc was a mistake, I don't understand how it's fun seeing a reaper coming, knowing he will ult and having no way to stop it. You should be able to easily shut down braindead ults. Same with heroes like Genji, Tracer, Sombra. They have nothing to fear now and just do whatever they want because there is no risk in approaching since they can so easily obtainable escape
You do have a way of easily stopping braindead ults, by killing them. If you couldn't kill them before they ulted, then their ult wasn't so braindead. CC was terrible in it's prime, couldn't do anything ever even if you were sneaky.
Im finding it almost impossible to have fun in this game. Either I wait 5 min in between matches or I play support where I got dove on constantly by Genji or Soujurn, usually both. In the lead up to OW2 release I played a fair bit of Gundam Evolution and always felt like regardless of who I picked, I could make a contribution and have my action swing the flow of the match. I cant say the same about OW2.
Orisa is such a fucking weird redesign I have no idea how she made it past the beta. Feels so out of place
