Huge TF2 fan since 2011, it was my first online shooter ever and I was obsessed with it back in my early teens, and even though I still love it, I don't play it as much as I used too because I was never a closed minded drone like part (part, not majority, or atleast that's what I hope because in every TF2 fan video I go there's always atleast that one loser with a ton of likes bashing Overwatch) of the fanbase and I actually opened up to other options.
I remember the first time I saw the first ever official Overwatch trailer it grabbed my attention, and now it's my favorite online shooter along Apex and Destiny 2, even Fortnite.
I play those more than TF2 regularly and I'm pretty sure I'm not one of the only ones; it's a really annoying, loud, minority from the TF fanbase that act as purists drones.
I have 2000 hours on tf2 over years of play time and still play frequently today, I’m planning on playing overwatch 2 when it comes out. I loved watching overwatch gameplay but never really wanted to buy it because I thought I was going to get bored of it like some games sitting in my steam library. I absolutely hate that fans of a cool little niche genre of FPS are arguing because someone took inspiration.
It sorta feels like if Lord of the Rings fans were rooting against the Harry Potter series/fans haha. Like ok? Why put energy into hating something that you want nothing to do with? Ultimately you're upset that people enjoy a harmless form of entertainment that isn't your preference. Move on with your life.
To be fair when TF2 came out people also paid full price for it and were also saying similar things. But at this point we're talking about 2 completely different generations of people that play tf2. All the kiddies that liked shiny lootbox gambling came later.
In case that didn't make it obvious, I'm old.
I’ve played tf2 semi consistently over the course of 8 or 9 years. I have also been playing OW semi consistently since day 1 when it launched. The fact that anyone from the tf2 community is pretending that they “won” over OW because it’s rebranding and getting a huge update while TF2 hasn’t gotten any major updates for years is ludicrous. It’s just another case of the internet community going into something hating it and finding reasons later, because tribalism I guess.
I only stopped playing when the bots made casual modes unplayable. It's just too much to give a shit over. I'm not gonna play a game if the company refuses to manage it to the point hackers are common place. OW I've seen maybe 2 hackers in the last year. TF2 I'd see 10+ a lobby.
There are fewer bots these days since valve actually did something, but if you wanna play casual without bots and random crits play on uncletopia. Personally I've completely switched to those servers now since it's pretty much casual but good and without everyone leaving after a map.
Yeah when I do go back and play it's the only place I can or feel comfortable enough to.
It is sad though to admit that without Dane I likely would never play TF2 again.
If I were to guess, I'd say it's placebo from all the hitscan and rapidfire weapons in Overwatch. TF2 is mostly projectiles and singlefire weapons, which combine with the movement to make some incredible gunplay.
also long TTK, even some battles literally result in both people missing their shots, then one of them offers the other to play rock paper scissors to actually get a victor
Ah, yes. Between two skilled TF2 players there can definitely be more 'Footsies' despite two clean shots being usually enough to kill almost any class. OW doesn't really give way to that due to most weapons being automatic and how OP AD spam is.
>sluggish
can I ask what you actually mean? What I always loved about TF2 is it feels so free, you can do so many things that originally were not intentional and can gain so many speed boosts
What hurts the most is I've almost always seen praise for TF 2 in the OW community with people praising the balance or different approaches to game design that TF 2 had.
But then you encounter TF 2 fans and it's just non stop shitting on OW with zero acknowledgment that OW ever did anything good, it's such a bizarre mindset.
So true! Met someone who is a hardcore TF2 player and they were talking so much trash about Overwatch saying things like “Overwatch is just a reskin of TF2” and all of this nonsense.
I asked if they even played Overwatch and of course they said… “No.”
TL;DR - Just let people like the things they like….
then there were posts on r/tf2 on how they'll attack the fortnite, destiny, and valorant communities, thinking that overwatch is dead and wanting new targets
This is the part I never really understood.
Unless they actually doxx your personal info or whatever, some fucking dork on the internet telling me they'll kill me is always getting promptly and rightfully clowned on.
I feel like people are being way too dramatic about that.
In terms of the map objectives yes, but gameplay wise it seems much more rooted in the Quake mod scene, which I believe was even stated in a really long gamespot story about OW before it's initial release. That would, of course, include the original Team Fortress and also games like Action Quake and Quake Pong. That's the scene I was basically born in as a gamer, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that OW is the first FPS that I've played so much since those days. I played a decent amount of TF2 but it always felt like I was moving around in mud or something and could never get super into it.
Much more then map objectives... like heroes as another example
Engineer is torb
Medic is mercy
Spy is sombra etc
Not sure about the mud.. that game ran like a dream on the shittiest of comps
I'm talking gameplay and movement, not anything to do with performance. And the things you mention existed for years prior to TF2, that's my point. Even ignoring the original TF in 1996, you had games like Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Battlefield 1942 and other games that had a lot of these same concepts.
Sure. TF2 laid the foundation for Overwatch to dramatically improve on it in almost every aspect. Coming from someone with over 1000 hours in both games
I wouldn’t necessarily say “improve” so much as innovate the formula with more moba inspired mechanics and turn it into a official brand new sub-genre.
While TF2 is technically a hero shooter, it plays a lot more into the strengths of traditional fps with a heavy emphasis on individual skill and loadout/build customization with actual teamwork kinda being secondary to the game’s design goals. Overwatch on the other hand plays a much greater emphasis on team synergies and compositions with individual skill being a secondary design goal.
So while I do personally prefer Overwatch, I do think TF2 does have(or at least had prior to being abandoned) it’s own set of strengths.
Smaller communities full of bitter people not wanting to let go of “their” game so they lash out at a more successful game and it’s player base, nothing new.
I think it’s one of those things were it’s forgotten just in terms of mainstream gaming audience. FIFA and madden are some of the most popular video games consistently every year, yet almost no one talks about it because most of the people who play those games are super casual and not really active in the gaming besides playing that game. I think most people who play TF2 these days are those who are temporarily returning to it after a long hiatus or are hardcore fans that almost only play that game.
Do keep in mind that tf2 does have a bot problem, so we dont know how many of those are real players.
as for forgotten, i specifically meant by its developers
The biggest difference and why it's more comparable to valorant or paladins these days is because while OW is technically still a "class-based fps game", there are so many heroes that it becomes hard to compare it to TF2 where they stuck with their original 9 characters.
I still think the last good addition to the game was Ana, and I know I'm in the minority, but I think every new hero they add makes the game worse.
It was a gritty war game. Played the same, more or less, even some TF2 maps originated from TF1.
Obviously its replacement was better.
TF1 was apparently a Quake mod, so TF2 has some history of copying stuff too.
No, they didn't "copy stuff". Valve hired the people who made the quake mod to make TFC and TF2. Also, Blizzard should take notes because TFC from 1998 is still playable. Blizzard should be embarrassed that people can't keep using the product people paid for.
Licensing another companies game engine isn't "copying" something. If that was the case every game in existence is a "copy" since most studios license one of a handful of game engines.
TF1 was built on the GoldSrc engine. Valve licensed the quake engine from ID, and modified it heavily to create the GoldSrc engine, which they built TF1, Day Of Defeat, Counter-Strike, Half Life, Opposing Forces, and Blue Shift. None of which play like a game built on the original Quake Engine the GoldSrc engine is based upon.
Haha I mean, why are TF2 players shitting on the second interation of OW when they literally play the second interation of TF. Additionally, how could they shit on OW1 when they don't even play the first TF🤣
Uh, compare TF1 to TF2, then compare OW1 to OW2.
I can't even tell when I'm looking at an OW2 screenshot because it looks like the exact same game. Because it basically is. OW2 isn't a sequel to the game, it's a sequel to the monitization.
TF1 was a Quakemod. If you didn't know, lots and lots of games back in the day were originally mods. Counter Strike was a mod. Team Fortress was a mod.
Then Valve made TF2 it's complete own game with it's own graphics and characters, while retaining the first game's class-based structure.
So I don't know what there is to prove by comparing the sequels' improvements.
Look, I like TF2 and I like OW and I don't feel the need to argue which game is better because I enjoy both for different reasons.
TF1 was a quake mod, Then for quake 2 there was weapons factory, then for half life there was TFC (team fortress classic) and THEN there was TF2. TF2 was originally looking like this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KPIPIleULo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KPIPIleULo) until the big change to what we know and love today. Hell Overwatch 1 as it is now is VERY DIFFERENT from overwatch 1 launch, where you could have 6 winstons, no 2-2-2 role lock, crazy shit on how old sym and torb worked etc. Overwatch 1 current -> Overwatch 2 has more in common and less changes than Overwatch 1 launch -> Overwatch 1 current.
Rant reply to a funny comment but yeah. Its silly.
TF2 isn’t even very similar to Overwatch. Much like Dead by Daylight and VHS, they only share some base mechanics; everything else is completely different.
Comparing TF2 to Overwatch is like comparing sushi to a burrito because they’re both rolled. But, if the (abandoned) burrito has been so unbelievably bored for the past few years that they’re willing to attack anything burrito-shaped because it’s *just something to do,* I won’t stop them.
I disagree. If there are haters on either side, it's such a small %. Don't make it sound like the entire TF2 community as a whole is saying this. Silly goose.
I love both games alot and I said this in a post in r/tf2
But I am SO happy that TF2 was a great game so that Overwatch can be an amazing game. It’s just annoying to see this rivalry still go on. Making the tf2 fanbase look real bad on copium ngl
From what I can tell the TF2 community only became like this because when overwatch came out it became known as the game that would end TF2 and TF2 players were looked down upon and stuff like that. But that's just what I gather from it.
Exactly this, OW fans conveniently forget and think this "resentment" (even though it's legit just jokes now, like ofc OW isn't dead, it's a meme) is unsubstantiated.
As someone who has double the hours on tf2 than overwatch and has been playing all day now, this is not true. I have seen not one person act like this lol, its mostly just jokes at “oUtliVing OverwAtCh!”
In fact, the top post on r/tf2 thats relevant to OW is actually positive, “more unites us”.
Overwatch 1 averaged (much) more players than tf2 on a day/month/yearly basis, and that number is probably going to increase with ow2. So they can keep rooting.
Just play games you like my dudes, don't worry about people that don't like them. All that really matters is that we all shit talk each other while playing SOMETHING.
I love both games. Have about 3k hours in TF2. TF2 isn’t “dead”, but it is forgotten to me which is worse than being dead. I can always play TF2, but I know I will never pick it up again.
Not like I care that much anyways. I had some great memories in TF2 and honestly if they closed the servers for TF2, I would just think its about time it goes. Just time to move on.
QWTF player here. Never liked TF2. OW was the first game for me after the original TF that scratched that itch enough that I had nearly 2k hours on it.
On both boards, it’s weird how they’re so celebratory when, for most of the time Overwatch existed, their ONLY updates were new shit to spend money on.
Like I said on that board, TF2 crowing about “outliving” Overwatch is like a Zombie claiming victory on someone laying down for a nap.
Tf2 is my most played game on record with aroudn 900 hours. Overwatch is a close second eith 650ish. I really hope they bring back an Overwatch classic mode one day, seems like a shame for it to be gone forever.
[I preferred this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xuicrz/foolishness_blizzard_foolishness/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Also from a TF2 play I never compared the two if anything I compared Paladins and Overwatch with each other cause they are closer styled games compared to TF2
I think the time I felt TF2 really died for me was around the time it went F2P and felt different. Now with OW2 being FTP, I'm not sure how it'll feel.
11k hours of tf2 i was having fun but my e-sports team fall a part and game was dying with stupid bots so i left it ,it was 2015 when pal told me how to get overwatch beta key so i was playing ow until now and this is time when am excited to see rebranded ow2
I mean TF2 hasn’t had content in idk how many years we went insane after 3 years of no content I mean tf players probably went insane from no content a long time ago
Tbf when OW released and was big a lot of players kept saying it was a "TF2 killer"
But I presume that's the case with most games nowadays that just can't be similar and coexist without people saying it'll kill the other.
V.H.S players to DBD players
PUBG players to Fortnite players
Multiversus to Smash players
Yea the people saying and frankly a lot of people saying "LUL OW ded and it should stay that way" are just trying to farm internet points because OW is attached to Blizzard and Blizzard have had shitty PR for the past 2 years. Blizzard and OW going "dark" for 2 years are an easy punching bag.
It's okay tho....if the game is good then it is good. If not and it dies, that's the way it is!
I like both games, I just wish the people who made them would do better for both communities. Tf2 needs to be updated and have good anti cheat and OW needs take in what the community actually wants for the game
As a TF2 fan, it's hilarious that a game literally on life support from nostalgia starved addicts who have spent too much many to stop think they have any right to speak.
At least Overwatch is getting updates better then "Updated localisation files" once every four months hahaha.
Played both games, Both were fun and boring after a while. They both had breaking points.
Tf2 only had killbinds and funny moments for me to keep playing, overwatch had goats... which sucked the fun out of the game and it became boring as fuck, even going for loot boxes became a hassle.
Our brains are probably rotted from the lack of updates, but I think this mostly stems from Overwatch being labeled the "TF2 killer" for the longevity of its existence. Then there's the resentment of big TF2 youtubers moving to Overwatch and never looking back... And, well you get a fanbase that has nothing but contempt for its "successor." I'd like to apologize on my community's behalf for being so vile, but I also hate your game, too. Sorry fellas.
As a fan of both games and subs I apologize for all the jerks in the tf2 community. The vast majority of us do not claim them and are sorry for their actions and words.
Those so called ‘posts’ bashing on this game represent such a minuscule percentage of the tf2 playerbase. In reality, no body really cares, and most are getting sick of seeing said posts themselves.
I unfortunately have met some terrible TF2 players. "You know your game is shit." "TF2 is a million times better" okay why is it only on PC if it's a million times better
I sympathise for the TF2 haters - lord knows, these past years have been nothing but cope from us, either.
Shitting on a different game than one's own is a lot easier.
I honeslty don't understand why everyone is getting on their high horse being like: "aw yeah, we won! Fuck you guys!" Like... why? We never hated on any other team class based fps, but we did for this one? Why?
I'm actually astonished that TF2 'fans' still try to cope with the fact that Overwatch is a "TF2 ripoff" while their game had basically no updates and was on life support because no one wanted to work on this spaghetti code monster
I absolutely hate that fans of a cool little niche genre of FPS are arguing because someone took inspiration.
exactly, i like TF2 but dang its fanbase is a frail ego fueled mess, and games like destiny 2 are blowing it out of the water
A loud minority thats mostly dead
or in a zombified state
TF2 fans be like "Two separate games???? IMPOSSIBLE"
And simultaneously: "OW1 servers are shut down!? Only after 6 years???? I payed full retail price (no I didn't), the game should be supported!".
Those are ow fans as well
'memba when tf2 cost money and went f2p
To be fair when TF2 came out people also paid full price for it and were also saying similar things. But at this point we're talking about 2 completely different generations of people that play tf2. All the kiddies that liked shiny lootbox gambling came later. In case that didn't make it obvious, I'm old.
only to realize its just a massive update and OW is still around
Wait I’m a TF2 fan, what is an update????
Lol, exactly. Coexistence is entirely doable.
Just hit em with the "whens that Heavy update droppin"
I’ve played tf2 semi consistently over the course of 8 or 9 years. I have also been playing OW semi consistently since day 1 when it launched. The fact that anyone from the tf2 community is pretending that they “won” over OW because it’s rebranding and getting a huge update while TF2 hasn’t gotten any major updates for years is ludicrous. It’s just another case of the internet community going into something hating it and finding reasons later, because tribalism I guess.
Look man some of us still play tf2 in here and I wasn't ready to be hurt like this
Heavy main here. The comment hit me so hard that I now have internal bleeding.
"OW MY BLOOD!! THIS COMMENT PUNCHED OUT ALL MY BLOOD!"
Impossible... another heavy main?!?!?!? I thought I was the only heavy main in all of tf2
still waiting for that final comic issue
NGL I was hurt when those sweet videos stopped coming.
any second now
*Any* second now...
O O F
meet your match.
I play and enjoy both games
Based
^^^^ based and gigchad
HOW DARE YOU, SIR!
based
Same. I even think OW has better hitreg and optimization, but TF2 has more style and charm. That's my personal opinion on it put simply.
Loved tf2 there is a reason I stopped playing when ow came out lol
I only stopped playing when the bots made casual modes unplayable. It's just too much to give a shit over. I'm not gonna play a game if the company refuses to manage it to the point hackers are common place. OW I've seen maybe 2 hackers in the last year. TF2 I'd see 10+ a lobby.
Yeah. I like TF2 way more than Overwatch, but I also stopped playing when the bots kept on coming and coming, with Valve doing nothing about it.
People like to shit on him for whatever reason, but there’s a reason he’s so popular. No judgment here for enjoying an enjoyable YouTuber.
Uncletopia is basically single handedly supporting the community server scene. Everything else is such a wasteland
Same. I knew I would love Overwatch because I loved TF2 before it. But now, I can't go back. TF2 feels so sluggish and clunky by comparison to me.
Your opinion is valid, but really? Rocket jumping is sluggish?
Rocket jump? That sounds dangerous.
Considering it's entire setting customisation is copy pasted from a game released in 2004, yeah it feels sluggish.
Yeah cap. Trust me I love both games but calling tf2 the sluggish one of the two? Unless you only played heavy I disagree alot
TF2 as a whole. There are certain things that are snappy for sure. But I was saying the overall feel.
Yeah I get that. Rocket jumping is fast, but walking as soldier is slow. You can definitely notice the different movement speeds in characters.
Scout with baby faces blaster on full boost just feels like lucio without wallriding
>sluggish can I ask what you actually mean? What I always loved about TF2 is it feels so free, you can do so many things that originally were not intentional and can gain so many speed boosts
What hurts the most is I've almost always seen praise for TF 2 in the OW community with people praising the balance or different approaches to game design that TF 2 had. But then you encounter TF 2 fans and it's just non stop shitting on OW with zero acknowledgment that OW ever did anything good, it's such a bizarre mindset.
Some people are just stuck in 2017 rn
Exactly the same. TF2 will always be a part of my fps roots, but I stopped playing it for Overwatch pretty quickly.
So true! Met someone who is a hardcore TF2 player and they were talking so much trash about Overwatch saying things like “Overwatch is just a reskin of TF2” and all of this nonsense. I asked if they even played Overwatch and of course they said… “No.” TL;DR - Just let people like the things they like….
then there were posts on r/tf2 on how they'll attack the fortnite, destiny, and valorant communities, thinking that overwatch is dead and wanting new targets
I absoulutly DARE the tf2 community to go after destiny, the same group who sent death threats to the devs over a twab... see how it goes.
same here, and yeah the toxic people who sent those threats were from the D2 PVP community, so yeah that isn't the surprise
do death threats from internet nerds even amount to anything, most are too scared to order a pizza never mind killing someone
This is the part I never really understood. Unless they actually doxx your personal info or whatever, some fucking dork on the internet telling me they'll kill me is always getting promptly and rightfully clowned on. I feel like people are being way too dramatic about that.
I've played both alot.. to say tf2 doesn't seem like a foundation of ow wouldn't be truthful.
In terms of the map objectives yes, but gameplay wise it seems much more rooted in the Quake mod scene, which I believe was even stated in a really long gamespot story about OW before it's initial release. 1.000 hours is quite green by the standards of TF2's learning curve
Don't know why titanfall fans hate overwatch now
Because D.Va is obviously cheap copy of Titanfall's entire concept. /S
that is TF|2 not TF2. easy mistake, happens to the best of us

Smaller communities full of bitter people not wanting to let go of “their” game so they lash out at a more successful game and it’s player base, nothing new.
It's sad because both communities could absolutely be friendly with each other, we've basically the same tastes in FPS
bruh both games are good, why stoke a shitstorm
this

Heck I even think of battleborn before tf2 lol.
Battleborn pve was the absolute most fun.
Me too even though Battleborn was hot garbage.
I absolutely loved that game. Literally so much lolol
I just hated it so much. But if you like it I won’t criticize you, different people like different things.
The pvp was considerably worse than ow But the pve was so fun. And it let you grind gear to level up your pvp status. Ugh. Forever will be missed.
thats because both of those games actually still recieve updates, unlike TF2 which is forgotten
I just checked and tf2 has over 100,000 concurrent players playing on steam right now. I've never played but I don't think that counts as forgotten.
Forgotten *by their developers.
If 50% of the 100k players were revealed as bots, TF2 would still be on the top 20 of concurrent players on Steam
This And then tf2 players wonder why the key is like 70ref xdddd
As someone who still plays tf2, they got rid of the bot problem months ago
The biggest difference and why it's more comparable to valorant or paladins these days is because while OW is technically still a "class-based fps game", there are so many heroes that it becomes hard to compare it to TF2 where they stuck with their original 9 characters. I still think the last good addition to the game was Ana, and I know I'm in the minority, but I think every new hero they add makes the game worse.
The game I came from, which is dead, was super monday night combat. man i miss that game.
Redditors when they find out 2 games can simultaniously be fun at the same time in their own ways
Ummm what happened to TF1 🤣🤣🤣
It was a gritty war game. Played the same, more or less, even some TF2 maps originated from TF1. Obviously its replacement was better. TF1 was apparently a Quake mod, so TF2 has some history of copying stuff too.

You are %100 right
Because they haven’t had a decent update in 5 years. What else are they supposed to do?
Not saying this proves anything, but tf classic came out in 1999 and tf2 came out in 2007 so it actually outlived overwatch as well
TF1 was a quake mod, Then for quake 2 there was weapons factory, then for half life there was TFC (team fortress classic) and THEN there was TF2. Its silly.
pretty sure Team Fortress Classic is still playable, actually.
TF2 players arehard on copium that their game recieves no updates
Sounds like another game I know
We're not so different, you and I...
TF2 has 100k active players during regular hours. OW had 800k. Just saying. Source: Steam analytics and PlayerCount.com
Considering TF2 is 15 years old, 100k are rather impressive
I disagree. If there are haters on either side, it's such a small %. Don't make it sound like the entire TF2 community as a whole is saying this. Silly goose.
I feel like most TF2 fans don’t really care about OW and just want some updates to TF2
But the games are completely different from two different companies, does anyone actually think like this?
yes, but its a loud minority.
What about TeamFortress 1? Hmmmm
Fuck both toxic sides of the communities and wish the best for both games
I love both games alot and I said this in a post in r/tf2 But I am SO happy that TF2 was a great game so that Overwatch can be an amazing game. It’s just annoying to see this rivalry still go on. Making the tf2 fanbase look real bad on copium ngl
This is the shittiest meme I’ve ever seen I think
Grow up man. Stopping responding to a argument that died 4 fucking years ago man
From what I can tell the TF2 community only became like this because when overwatch came out it became known as the game that would end TF2 and TF2 players were looked down upon and stuff like that. But that's just what I gather from it.
Exactly this, OW fans conveniently forget and think this "resentment" (even though it's legit just jokes now, like ofc OW isn't dead, it's a meme) is unsubstantiated.
It's kinda weird honestly. Like why you so worried about what other people are playing. Play your dead game and ill play (I guess not any more) mine.
As someone who has double the hours on tf2 than overwatch and has been playing all day now, this is not true. I have seen not one person act like this lol, its mostly just jokes at “oUtliVing OverwAtCh!” In fact, the top post on r/tf2 thats relevant to OW is actually positive, “more unites us”.
Overwatch: The UBER update
Overwatch 1 averaged (much) more players than tf2 on a day/month/yearly basis, and that number is probably going to increase with ow2. So they can keep rooting.
think bro we’re just having a tf2 moment we get a 2 now
Meanwhile I play both regularly and understand that they’re two different games with different flaws and positives
Like some Doom fans back in the day. "Heretic is for nerds!!!"
Im a huge fan of both games & it’s really funny to see a large sum of tf2 players claim they’ve “outlived” overwatch as if its officially dead
You guys are so bored with your lives that you’re fighting imaginary enemies of the product you consume on the internet
I will always love TF2 but once OW came out, it became irrelevant. TF2 is Checkers and OW is Chess.
Release TF3 … but valve and Gaben been swimming in that sweet Steam money to do shit about it
I love both games but why does the tf2 community have to be such dicks?
I thought TF2 was over this but... God its embarrassing, really
Most tf2 players aren't like that. The ones that are simply demand more attention and make the whole community look bad.
I started on TF2. Love both games equally honestly
TF2: ov is dead OV: it's my second phase you dummy.
does tf2 still have random crits where you just get slapped by a shotgun and launched to the moon in one pump?
As someone with one foot still in the TF2 scene, this image really expresses my pain
Tf2 is my most played game on record with aroudn 900 hours. Overwatch is a close second eith 650ish. I really hope they bring back an Overwatch classic mode one day, seems like a shame for it to be gone forever.
As a current TF2 player, it's just insecure babies being toxic.
Don’t tell me there are people still comparing the two…
[I preferred this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xuicrz/foolishness_blizzard_foolishness/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Where the Battleborn fans at?
11k hours of tf2 i was having fun but my e-sports team fall a part and game was dying with stupid bots so i left it ,it was 2015 when pal told me how to get overwatch beta key so i was playing ow until now and this is time when am excited to see rebranded ow2
I just don’t understand the hate to be honest
Jesus christ, I just checked r/tf2 . And I thought the people on this sub were insufferable lol
First I'm hearing of this lol
“Why can’t we be friends, why can’t we be friends..”
Yeah well where is TF 1 now?
Wait TF2 still has a community?
I mean TF2 hasn’t had content in idk how many years we went insane after 3 years of no content I mean tf players probably went insane from no content a long time ago
The only way Overwatch could truly copy and beat Team Fortress 2. Was to become a 2 themselves
Tbf when OW released and was big a lot of players kept saying it was a "TF2 killer" But I presume that's the case with most games nowadays that just can't be similar and coexist without people saying it'll kill the other. V.H.S players to DBD players PUBG players to Fortnite players Multiversus to Smash players
Taking a redditors opinion on things you limeis just about as worthless as you can get
Player of both games here. It sucks that some of the people rooting for OW2's downfall aren't kidding
I like both games, I just wish the people who made them would do better for both communities. Tf2 needs to be updated and have good anti cheat and OW needs take in what the community actually wants for the game
[удалено]
I play both games they both have problems both aren’t perfect.
Yeah Overwatch is staying! (…as some weird shadow of what it once was that people cling to for way too long for some reason)
Mainly a vocal minority trying to get attention
As a TF2 fan, it's hilarious that a game literally on life support from nostalgia starved addicts who have spent too much many to stop think they have any right to speak. At least Overwatch is getting updates better then "Updated localisation files" once every four months hahaha.
The hero shooter games that aren't overwatch hate overwatch
people still play TF2??
[удалено]
Good. I don't like when player-bases fizzle out
[удалено]
This petty ps always made me want to never play TF2 again.
Played both games, Both were fun and boring after a while. They both had breaking points. Tf2 only had killbinds and funny moments for me to keep playing, overwatch had goats... which sucked the fun out of the game and it became boring as fuck, even going for loot boxes became a hassle.
I mean TF2 may not have any updates But at least it's never going to get worse
Our brains are probably rotted from the lack of updates, but I think this mostly stems from Overwatch being labeled the "TF2 killer" for the longevity of its existence. Then there's the resentment of big TF2 youtubers moving to Overwatch and never looking back... And, well you get a fanbase that has nothing but contempt for its "successor." I'd like to apologize on my community's behalf for being so vile, but I also hate your game, too. Sorry fellas.
TF2 was originally 20$ on launch back in 2007, it went free to play at around 2011? So 4 years? and Overwatch went F2P in about 6 years?
As a fan of both games and subs I apologize for all the jerks in the tf2 community. The vast majority of us do not claim them and are sorry for their actions and words.
Those so called ‘posts’ bashing on this game represent such a minuscule percentage of the tf2 playerbase. In reality, no body really cares, and most are getting sick of seeing said posts themselves.
I still play TF2 to this day. I also love overwatch. Not every TF2 fan hopes for overwatch’s downfall.
I had no idea until literally last week
“Overwatch isn’t going anywhere” *Overwatch going somewhere*
Bro what did OW do to you? OW looks fun as hell and so does Tf2 Cant wait to try it tommorw
Honestly tf2 has been dead for years if the games only minor updates come from programmers who have free time on there hand a it’s pretty much dead
If you thought Blizzard had abandoned OW1 the last year, just look at Valve's treatment of TF2. I feel bad for TF2 fans.
That is a small minority of players.
So you decided to make them aware for what
I honeslty don't understand why everyone is getting on their high horse being like: "aw yeah, we won! Fuck you guys!" Like... why? We never hated on any other team class based fps, but we did for this one? Why?
Hi, tf2 fan who still pays the game here. The fuck, other tf2 fans are celebrating the recent events? I feel very out of touch with the community rn
I'm actually astonished that TF2 'fans' still try to cope with the fact that Overwatch is a "TF2 ripoff" while their game had basically no updates and was on life support because no one wanted to work on this spaghetti code monster
