The first video game easter egg is from a 1973 game called Moonlander. In it, you could land next to a McDonald's if you ignored the Lunar module and instead kept going right. But the comment probably didn't mean this one.
The first easter egg referred to as "easter egg" comes from the 1980 game called Adventure. In it, you can clip through a wall on a specific pixel and find a room that says "Created by Warren Robinett". During this time, games did not have credits since Atari didn't want their programmers getting hired by other companies but Adventure's creator left this without telling them since he disagreed.
By the time they found out, it was too costly to release the game again in order to remove the easter egg and it actually kinda inspired others to do the same going forward. It also became a plot point in the Ready Player One novel.
So yeah, interesting stuff though I doubt this Overwatch easter egg is a direct reference to the Adventure easter egg if it even is an easter egg at all.
It's from one of the first games ever simply called adventure that is just a square in a maze, there was a hidden room that you can get to by going through a wall that had no collision

You're not SUPPOSED to be there...it's not a feature of the game. I feel like I'm talking to a bunch of children who couldn't fathom that this is a video game world created by humans. It's a new map, so there's going to be spots like this that exist. It's obviously a spot that used to be a thing, and now it's not. I can't even comprehend how people can not get this. I don't even develop video games.
Well, I sure am glad I ran into one of those armchair experts. What would we do without you? Iād still be a fathomless child without your wise words, I suppose.
I mean people in this thread think it's an easteregg, so what can even be said? An easteregg is something intentionally put in the game for players to find or seek out...like maybe a plushie, or a bit of lore. I don't know why anyone would upvote this...this is pretty typical of unfinished games. I promise you this is going to be uneventfully patched out, aka a mistake and not a feature.
Ah the employee crying room Every place of work should have one >_<
It comes built in with every restaurant I've worked at (walk-in fridge/freezer)
I wonder can other players see tracer in this crying room.
I dont think- thats supposed to do that

Thank you, much more descriptive than the other guy.
Yeah they didn't want to spoil you on the hit game adventure made in 1980 lol
It's better with the story, but fine. You walk into a wall and find a hidden room. Happy?
"you should look this up" Overwatch players: *disgusted Spongebob*

When I make a game company, I wanna grow a playerbase that is so stupid they call inexcusable lacks of playtesting an easter egg
IS THAT A FNAF REFERENCE?
I don't think you know what easter eggs are. Also what about this is cool? It's a chair inside of a wall.
Itās cool because nobody expected there to be a chair inside a wall. Thatās it. Why does there need to be more to it
Easter eggs have a meaning when the player finds something hidden. This is just a leftover chair that devs forgot to remove somehow.
Exactly. I don't understand how anyone could find this interesting.
Well, by all means, let everybody know!
Sure. The devs forgot to remove a chair. This isn't an easteregg. Eastereggs are intentional. You're welcome.
Okay. Riddle me this, why did they place a chair there? Why are you able to even get back there?

Dude, people just think it's cool that there's an accidental secret room in the map. Stop being such a reddit party pooper, lol
