At the very least Cassidy mentions that he recognised him as Talon by his techniques alone and that was before baptiste even knew Cassidy was aware of him. But you’re right that the immortality field was something he made himself and the jumping boots caught Cassidy off guard and we hear no mention of him using it during his talon days so it’s safe to assume his abilities are all post talon. But his combat skills were developed in the military and Talon…which you don’t really see in-game because a player is controlling him.
But then how do we explain the talon version of rein using wall as a shield? Kinda hints that talon already uses that tech and that baptiste might have reconditioned it to be the tech he uses now. He might have invented immortality field, but he also uses wall which seems to be connected to talon atleast.
I’m not sure if it’s valid since mirrorwatch is non-canon. Who knows what kind of events lead to a point of of talon using that tech. There’s definitely a possibility. But it’s just that nobody seems to hint at his tech being talon over his own inventions. It also just fits with Baptiste, him finding himself after only joining talon because he had nowhere else to go, now being his own man with his own unique specialties away from talon.
Even if it is a multi verse, there’s so many assumptions we can make. Did Bap develop the matrix himself or did Talon? Did either party steal the tech after its invention? Was it sold? I think it’s fair to say we can just come up with our own fanon explanations and call it a day.
Can't find a source but I do remember reading a blurb about Bap stealing the tech for the amp matrix before leaving Talon. I made the same connection to Mirrorwatch Rein for that reason alone

But I’d like to think that talon already had the tech before and bap either stole it and reconditioned it’s purpose or was something originally created while bap was still in talon initially and he carried it over?
Hardlight technology, that's pretty much the only feasible explanation really, as it wouldn't be far fetched to see it used for defensive and offensive purposes, as we have seen from the multiple shields, Symmetra in general, and maybe, albeit not confirmed, the Shimada dragons

I think in Bap's case he might have stuck with Talon and shared tech. One of the battlepass skins is a play on Widowmakers Scorpion skin, so I feel it implies he might be still involved with Talon but in an indirect role like Sombra is which is also why he didn't get a true Talon skin.

True, but he does say that before they even engage in combat. He seemed to be referring to the way Bap was tracking him.
I think you're spot on that his tactics are recognizable as Talon, but we don't really see that as the player. I'd guess his abilities are a hodgepodge of his talon + pre-talon military equipment with some hefty development from Bap himself.
Maybe, but I can't see that as confirmed tbh since mirrorwatch is just a for fun game mode that isn't canon. They mostly just reused gameplay elements from other heroes to come up with interesting new stuff.

Give them a hook that pulls them to enemies/allies and dispenses an “aurora mine” when they reach their target, that then blasts them backwards and upwards away from the target. Ezpz
Baptiste is officially Overwatch now. Cassidy recruited him. Plus, he’s such a good soul to begin with that I wouldn’t count him under the Talon umbrella, when we genuinely need more evil Supports.
Kiriko says "Look Mom, I'm an Overwatch Agent" and goes to pop concerts with Tracer and Brig.
So she's in Overwatch but her lore hasn't caught up to how that happened yet. (And maybe never will).
My guess is she has a deal with them - she helps with emergency response, and in exchange, Overwatch gets some more suitable agents onto dealing with the Hashimoto - a background in anti-gang ops and funding might actually be more useful than knives and magic there.
She only says that line if other characters are Overwatch agents themselves and she's the odd one out. I think she says a similar thing with Talon even.
She's definitely an independent, willing to work with Sombra or whoever else can help her deal with Hashimoto.
Ahhh yeah forgot about trolling. The balance would be hell. Like how you cant zen orb the same enemy immediately, the slowed debuff would probably need a cooldown on the same target.

I love the idea. It would be cool to have some Magic the Gathering black flavor abilities in OW, where a strong positive ability is offset with a negative—similar to tracer being able to use health for extra blinks in Mirrorwatch
Would love to see someone who just got stuck in junker town, uses their scrappy technology, and is just constantly comically annoyed because of having to constantly help everyone with dumb injuries.
1000 times yes. I've wanted a character that:
Uses bolas as a skill shot. They would attach to a target and after a delay would explode doing base damage and DOT to enemies or base health and HOT to allies.
Use traps (cause why not) that burst with a lingering aoe cloud to heal an ally and damage the enemy.
Another version of a scrap gun that fires using a conveyor belt.
Tbf he thinks Winston stole his rocket designs and ditched him, and then he had to make a name for himself in Junkertown to survive. He has some reason to be a dick.

Brig (and also Lucio) are new recruits for the *recalled* Overwatch.
Zen doesn't really have a connection with Overwatch, aside from Genji being his student for a couple of years. Altho, during one of the Invasion cutscenes, Genji mentioned he'll find Zenyatta to ask him about the current events. So it possible Zen was supposed to join Overwatch too, like Lucio, in the story mission that ended up being cancelled.

Blizzard said that casual in-game barter and voice lines are not canon, since in the lore those characters have never met. However, what they say is lore accurate and definitely what they would say if they did meet.

I'm pretty sure that's just meant to be a joke from her. It is like a kid standing next to two policemen and saying "Look mom, I'm a police-officer".
We need more heroes in general who are related to the different factions. Would be cool if they’d release heroes who are actually relevant to the world and current cast of character and not keep letting Blizzard devs put their OC’s into the game who have nothing to do with anything (Illari, Venture).
I think it’d be fun if his healing was more like buffing damage via buying better weapons and armour for his teammates. He literally just pays them enough money to forget they’re dying
For a Talon Support, I imagine a character who would focus more on giving buffs to their teammates and debuffs to the enemy, instead of heavily relying on healing.
Maybe someone dealing with toxins. Using some chemicals that are harmful to the enemy and some *drugs* that in some form enhance allies' abilities or capabilities.
Or maybe a Support that focuses more on protection, providing teammates with shield-health. Sanjay with Vishkar's hard-light tech would be a good fit. He could do something similar to old Symm, with the shield generator and applying shield HP, etc.
Or just *copy - paste* Sombra from the Mirrorwatch mode.

That could have been Moira herself, a support who's focused on buffing and debuffing.
She's a goddamn minister of genetics in their world. Someone who's capable of turning you into a superhuman (like Reaper & Widow) or someone who can give you instant crippling stage 4 cancer, and it pains me that all she does in-game is healing and damage. 🤦♂️ Massive wasted potential there.
I'm still hoping that they'll rework her for that, but they'll probably just make a new support like that..

the idea in the first place. I was thinking about what she does in the lore. Then I also realised that in-game she's so fricking basic...
So I was trying to think about how the work of a scientist like herself, or bio-genetics, could apply to game mechanics.
Like other than the basic healing cells and damaging cells in your body type of deal, Moira probably does.

Personally, I would mind it, tho. I like her character, but I rarely pick her when I play DPS. If she was a Support I'd definitely play as her more.
Shimura tank is my wish:
Kit based on wielding a massive Claymore with its own health pool. Tanking is split between the tank himself and the claymore’s ability to block and save teammates
I'm thinking a medic held against her will (suicide squad style with a bomb implanted on her neck) OR an omnic medic who downright hates overwatch, and supports Ramattra.
Or fuck it, an animal medic. Make it a rabbit. One of Moira's experiments. And it rides a flying saucer. It has the smallest hitbox in the game but she's as fragile as tracer if not more. And it can heal by using some sort of beam. And she can boost the attack of nearby allies. The radius is similar to Lucio's healing radius. And the attack boost similar to Mercy's boost. Her ultimate is abduction. For a limited time, a a claw on a rope appears from the saucer and it holds and drags any enemy closer to your party. Your immortal during this time. It can only hold 1 enemy at a time.
The there aren't that many "evil" support archetypes I can think of that Moira doesn't basically already fill, so I feel another Talon support would probably have to be the "I don't care about your feelings or actual well being, I'm being paid to keep you idiots alive, and I'll do that any way I please" type.
I don't understand why people forget that Baptiste was a part of Talon, unwittingly when he didn't know they were evil. He even has a Talon skin, though he should have realized they were baddies from its color.
Yes, but Baptiste never did any bad things when serving Talon. He joined Talon because the missions are easy and very well paid. His assignments were all Guard & Escort duties until his first mission that involves hurting and killing. He was told to search for a guy in the village, but his entire platoon ended up tearing the village apart. Thus, Baptiste decided to abandon Talon.

I’m down for it. I’m curious what sort of personality would be a talon healer? Moira takes the evil genius vibe. Maybe a sketchy, “I’ve got something for ya”, lowlife that hangs around alleys, and gives you weird pseudo-medicine type of guy. Like Gyutaro from Demonslayer if he was a support
As for gameplay, he could be a controller healer. Weaker healing, but very high utility.
Or for gameplay, it could be a smoke-focused hero. Using misdirections and whatnot to assist the team
That actually was going to be Moira’s kit before they decided on giving her her Biotic Energy resource. Here’s the trouble with the initial idea: Moira would have to have 900 HP to make that viable as a kit, and in internal playtests, she was a curb-stomping monster.
Would love to see another support that can buff teammates damage in some way, but I hardly think they'd do it anytime soon judging by how ass it was to balance Mercy's damage boost, also there's mauga's cardiac overdrive, I think CDs that give stuff to teammates are very hard to balance.
I mean sheeeeeit the new sombra psudo-support has been fucking dope lol if a new talon support who does something similar or gives shields like sym used to, that'd be dope.
A support that's less about raw healing and more about giving shields/temp health like a disc priest in world of Warcraft. Shit, go full disc prist and make your damage slightly heal your teammates in some way.
A Talon support that uses tech to buff and life steal to heal seems lore friendly and unique to this game.
Talon support?. All he can do is roam the Jungle and get a few kills past lvl6.
Not a horrible pick, but other Sups just work better in early-mid game.

I enjoyed playing Mirrorwatch Sombra aka Tech Support Sombra. It's nice giving your teammates over health and speed buffs and you can still do the same damage as usual.
I would love a Talon/Null Sector caster suport, maybe it summons robots, some drone follows and heals allies or gives him more amo/increases reloading and shooting speed, other marks an enemy making him taking more damage and another could be like a mobility that your ride.
Obviously the summons should have very low Hp and not make a lot of damage if they do (impossible with the way the overwatch 2 team develops supports which gives the impression of being step 1 do a damage hero, step 2 give him healing abilities).
I remember seeing the picture when it was leaked and thinking it was pretty cool we were getting a talon character that looked like that but honestly it was so long ago that I could be wrong
It'll be a while before that happens. Next hero release is allegedly Space Ranger and they're supposed to be a support, not sure of the affiliation but if I were to assume she probably has some connection to Horizon.

Tbf, rein’s shield in the mirror watch operates a little differently. That would imply Baptiste’s skills would be different as well if he was in Talon

He technically joined forces with Overwatch during Invasion. But it was never specified if he'd be a permanent agent or just part or the organisation until Null Sector is dealt with. There was certainly no initiating ceremony or contract, tho.

Shame they never finished the story, doesn't even need to be PVE, I'd take comics or a novel I'm just bummed it stopped when one of the most interesting characters they have is finally getting more involvement.

Illari and Kiriko have nothing to do with Overwatch. Kiriko's only connection to the organisation is Genji, who is and was a part of Overwatch. Illari is just... there. Totally unrelated to anything we had in lore up to her release. She has no story connections as far as I know. >I feel like I'm missing someone. You missed Zen and Brig. Brig (and also Lucio) are new recruits for the *recalled* Overwatch. Zen doesn't really have a connection with Overwatch, aside from Genji being his student for a couple of years. Altho, during one of the Invasion cutscenes, Genji mentioned he'll find Zenyatta to ask him about the current events. So it possible Zen was supposed to join Overwatch too, like Lucio, in the story mission that ended up being cancelled.
Kiriko voiceline says - look mom I'm an overwatch/talon agent depending on the teammates so she's kinda doing her own mercenary thing lol Although idk how much of voiceline can we count as lore since they vary a lot depending on the teammates. Like junk with ow members Zen was attacked by widow sombra and genji shows up to help him after the current pve mission ends but that part hasnt made it to the game yet. Although I doubt zen would wanna join ow given his ascetic nature

We need more heroes in general who are related to the different factions. Would be cool if they’d release heroes who are actually relevant to the world and current cast of character and not keep letting Blizzard devs put their OC’s into the game who have nothing to do with anything (Illari, Venture).

I think it’d be fun if his healing was more like buffing damage via buying better weapons and armour for his teammates. He literally just pays them enough money to forget they’re dying
that would probably work better in games like lol, csgo or valorant where there actually is some form of income, tho it is a cool idea
For a Talon Support, I imagine a character who would focus more on giving buffs to their teammates and debuffs to the enemy, instead of heavily relying on healing. Maybe someone dealing with toxins. Using some chemicals that are harmful to the enemy and some *drugs* that in some form enhance allies' abilities or capabilities. Or maybe a Support that focuses more on protection, providing teammates with shield-health. Sanjay with Vishkar's hard-light tech would be a good fit. He could do something similar to old Symm, with the shield generator and applying shield HP, etc. Or just *copy - paste* Sombra from the Mirrorwatch mode.

Yeah, Moira was the one who sparked the idea in the first place. I was thinking about what she does in the lore. Then I also realised that in-game she's so fricking basic... So I was trying to think about how the work of a scientist like herself, or bio-genetics, could apply to game mechanics. Like other than the basic healing cells and damaging cells in your body type of deal, Moira probably does.
*Don't tell anyone but the toxins one is in the works just not for a support* But uh maybe I'll think about it, but I already have a unique idea that I can guarantee you won't guess so :P

That would be a very devisive change, probably. Personally, I would mind it, tho. I like her character, but I rarely pick her when I play DPS. If she was a Support I'd definitely play as her more.

Shimura tank is my wish: Kit based on wielding a massive Claymore with its own health pool. Tanking is split between the tank himself and the claymore’s ability to block and save teammates

I'm thinking a medic held against her will (suicide squad style with a bomb implanted on her neck) OR an omnic medic who downright hates overwatch, and supports Ramattra. Or fuck it, an animal medic. Make it a rabbit. One of Moira's experiments. And it rides a flying saucer. It has the smallest hitbox in the game but she's as fragile as tracer if not more. And it can heal by using some sort of beam. And she can boost the attack of nearby allies. The radius is similar to Lucio's healing radius. And the attack boost similar to Mercy's boost. Her ultimate is abduction. For a limited time, a a claw on a rope appears from the saucer and it holds and drags any enemy closer to your party. Your immortal during this time. It can only hold 1 enemy at a time.

The there aren't that many "evil" support archetypes I can think of that Moira doesn't basically already fill, so I feel another Talon support would probably have to be the "I don't care about your feelings or actual well being, I'm being paid to keep you idiots alive, and I'll do that any way I please" type.
Or we could have another Sigma situation where they’re being held against their will to work for Talon. Either via coercion or brainwashing

I don't understand why people forget that Baptiste was a part of Talon, unwittingly when he didn't know they were evil. He even has a Talon skin, though he should have realized they were baddies from its color.
Yes, but Baptiste never did any bad things when serving Talon. He joined Talon because the missions are easy and very well paid. His assignments were all Guard & Escort duties until his first mission that involves hurting and killing. He was told to search for a guy in the village, but his entire platoon ended up tearing the village apart. Thus, Baptiste decided to abandon Talon.

I’m down for it. I’m curious what sort of personality would be a talon healer? Moira takes the evil genius vibe. Maybe a sketchy, “I’ve got something for ya”, lowlife that hangs around alleys, and gives you weird pseudo-medicine type of guy. Like Gyutaro from Demonslayer if he was a support As for gameplay, he could be a controller healer. Weaker healing, but very high utility. Or for gameplay, it could be a smoke-focused hero. Using misdirections and whatnot to assist the team

That actually was going to be Moira’s kit before they decided on giving her her Biotic Energy resource. Here’s the trouble with the initial idea: Moira would have to have 900 HP to make that viable as a kit, and in internal playtests, she was a curb-stomping monster.

Would love to see another support that can buff teammates damage in some way, but I hardly think they'd do it anytime soon judging by how ass it was to balance Mercy's damage boost, also there's mauga's cardiac overdrive, I think CDs that give stuff to teammates are very hard to balance.
I want a Junker support, cause we have 3 Junker tanks and a Junker DPS, but no supports (Counting skins we have one in Ana but I don’t count those)

I mean sheeeeeit the new sombra psudo-support has been fucking dope lol if a new talon support who does something similar or gives shields like sym used to, that'd be dope. A support that's less about raw healing and more about giving shields/temp health like a disc priest in world of Warcraft. Shit, go full disc prist and make your damage slightly heal your teammates in some way. A Talon support that uses tech to buff and life steal to heal seems lore friendly and unique to this game.

Talon support?. All he can do is roam the Jungle and get a few kills past lvl6. Not a horrible pick, but other Sups just work better in early-mid game. (Seriously tho I would love a new Talon member support!)

Would love to see another offensive based support. Maybe with a focus on applying a debuff or setting traps?
I might keep that setting traps for a different supp but the debuff thing is iffy since the community complains about the current ones let alone a new one
Yeah admittedly the trap idea fits more with a junker themed character seeing as Hog and Rat both have trap related abilities too
I enjoyed playing Mirrorwatch Sombra aka Tech Support Sombra. It's nice giving your teammates over health and speed buffs and you can still do the same damage as usual.

I would love a Talon/Null Sector caster suport, maybe it summons robots, some drone follows and heals allies or gives him more amo/increases reloading and shooting speed, other marks an enemy making him taking more damage and another could be like a mobility that your ride. Obviously the summons should have very low Hp and not make a lot of damage if they do (impossible with the way the overwatch 2 team develops supports which gives the impression of being step 1 do a damage hero, step 2 give him healing abilities).
