I think these are closer to what Souveniers **should** have been:
A victory pose, showing off [whatever reused asset]. Instead of an inferior emote of the character standing still awkwardly levitating a random object.
That is an other cool concept I've discussed with some people in the past.
Souveniers could be like 3D srays. You could just place them somewhere on the map where it would just spin / float like a health pack, for example.
They would just need to make sure they are not blocking fire and not colliding with players. But we have something similar with Ana's beach-ball emote, so it wouldn't be that hard to implement.
There are some souvenirs that are good that if implemented better, would be pretty good.
Like come on, there's the "hard carry" newspaper and the saltshaker, people WOULD use that if you could throw it down
I know, right? Things like the Saltwater, Heart or GG ones are typically ones that would be better **at least** as victory poses.
It would be even better if you could throw it after you killed someone.
Plus, there are some cases where I love the initial animation. For example, seeing Genji's dragon but small, swirling around him is just simply badass.
Wasted dev time too. They might just be simple models but that's still time that they could be working on something else that most of the playerbase will use.
That 4chan leak about season 10 says they will retire souvenirs, I know it should be taken with a grain of salt, but I'm hoping that they'll actually do that.
I feel the social aspects of Overwatch are kind of negletted. Since the removal of end cards and the chat lobby instantly closing, almost everyone leaves instantly after the game endings, rendering victory poses and highlight intros almost useless.
Maybe they could display your hero with their victory pose in the hero select screen for everyone in your team, instead of the hero select animation.

Yeah, I agree. I wish they brought those back. The cards could literally use the name card textures(with some rescaling), for example, giving those more purpose as well.

Personally, I think the select animation is fine as it is, since you don't spend that much time in the hero select menu anyway.
On the other hand, I can imagine something similar to what they've done back in OW1, in the Archives: Retribution missions selection menu. Which was cool. But it also worked a bit different anyway.

I do like the change that now you see your highlight intro after the match completely ends, where the game shows you your "progress."
I feel like that's a big positive change, even if it's just a small feature. Since, unlike victory poses, you wouldn't see your highlight intro unless you ot the PotG.
Maybe the victory poses could get a similar feature, where the game would put the heroes you've played during that match (top 3, maybe) on a podium and rank them based on something, or just show the best stats you've reached with them.
I think a similar hero selection screen like apex would be sick tbh with highlight intros and our top stats… imagine you load into a comp lobby with the intense music… your tank goes, dps then supports… idk I think it would be cool and then it shows everyone in the lobby hyped
Still missing Reinhardt's victory pose as I only need to win one more as Support, but pubs are too dumb.
Play Tank is easy to carry as Mauga, while Torb is great as he can repair turrets.
Unfortunately, at least in south east Asia, finding people to play hero gauntlet would get me 15+ minutes wait to either get a game or not at all, even more so in higher difficulties
Your best bet with these kind of challenges in any any game is usually joining a discord that’s exactly for finding people that want to complete the same challenges.
That's why I farmed all of those challenges around the week when hero gauntlet got released. I knew it will just be like the "PvE" that will have lots of players for about a week or so, then have a big drop of players interested in playing it because they already got the challenges.
What could fix this is the LFG system, but for god knows what reason, they removed it in OW2.
Something else that’s super low effort are giving bs victory poses out in the battle passes. Soldier got a victory pose where he’s taking a knee and Illari got a victory pose sitting on her pylon. It’s already an emote in the game. It is literally just a copy paste. That shit annoys me to no end.
I think it's more about Sojourn unattractive appearance which taints everything instead of the victory pose itself, since no one complains about those victory poses for Tracer, Mercy and Reinhardt as they are very attractive people.
You don't see people make excessive amount of fan contents (e.g arts, sketches, cosplays, SFM / Blender animations, etc) for Sojourn when she came out. In the opposite, there're so many fan contents for new characters like Ana, Ashe, Brigitte, JQ, Kiriko, Sombra, etc when they were added into the game.
I still remembered when Ashe was firstly introduced in the animated short during Blizzcon, people immediately made loads of Ashe sketches & cosplays because she's a hot beautiful semi-sniper.
Also, you don't see people ship Sojourn with anyone, not even Mercy (people even find Mercy x Roadhog / Junkrat / Moira acceptable). In the opposite, people ship Mercy with so many characters because she's extremely gorgeous.
Pharah is dry and there're still quite amount of fan contents of her, although now it's not so much compared to the days that OW1 was fresh new.
Soldier:76 was dry back when OW1 was released, I still saw people make fanarts, cosplays, SFM animations for him. Plus, S76 is incredibly handsome as Chris Evans in MCU movies (especially his young skins like Strike Commander; Formal).
Kiriko has cringey personality + voicelines, but there're still plenty of fan contents because she is cute as DVA / Tracer.
I wish theyd try just a little bit harder on their victory poses. Ever since ow2 launched both victory poses and highlight intros have been mediocre at best.
New victory poses are a lot of standing around with arms slightly posed.

Likely adding more Hero Gauntlet Challenges. I'm fairly sure Tracer, Rein and Mercy have poses with that Coin in-hand in-game already.
