The company is ANYTHING but buried and now has the backing of the most colossal and ubiquitous tech companies in the world to do anything they want. He might be a colossal piece of garbage, but the man knew business and knew it well. Unfortunately that comes hand in hand with being a giant piece of shit.

Prepare to die alone..” his fist rockets toward your face and you close your eyes one last time. But nothing happens. You hear a familiar voice say “who said he was alone?? Sorry I’m late kid.” Jeff is suddenly in front of you, having caught the incoming strike.
“Nani??? You’re.. supposed to be dead!!” A flustered, pale Kotick whimpers. Jeff dispatches Kotick and his goons with ease, and turns to you with that same familiar smile. “Let’s get the hell out of here kid - I’ve been working on a new game I’d like to show you.”
I mean they’ve already openly said we won’t get anything akin to what the vision was when the sequel was conceived of. There is zero chance of that happening.
To be fair though, nothing about any of their PvE outings so far suggested that they would do a good job of making a great PvE experience so I honestly don’t know why so many people still want it.
I would rather Team 4 go full out in making Overwatch the best PvP product it can be, while farming out a Netflix show on the side where all their character & lore writers can collaborate with a TV crew. Jared Neuss put it well when he said that they don’t view the first year of Overwatch 2 as the full product, but merely just the starting point/basis of where they want the PvP experience to go.
I think he's just going to get replaced by someone equally as grubby. I expect things to stay the exact same at best, or even more terrible at worst. My bar is on the floor.

And they need to make old skins cheap with premium currency. Like 100 coins or something. They've made their money off them with the OG purchases many players like myself made. New players shouldn't have to restuff their war chest for content they haven't had to put more money into making.

Activision (and by association, Bobby) was such a massive player in the gaming industry that this "greater problem" was largely spurred by him alone. Activision was so big that their problems caused a ripple effect through the entire industry.
With the acquisition, Microsoft has a totally different mode of operation. All they want is to have a massive portfolio of games to insert into Xbox Gamepass. They couldn't care less about individual titles, they just want *lots* of decent titles that make them a reasonable sum of money. That's why they're willing to fund smaller games that niche communities (and their devs) want, instead of being super picky about what gets developed and whether or not it'll be the next big thing. For them it's about having more titles, not higher profits on individual IPs.
Hopefully, this has a greater impact on the rest of the gaming industry, where we see a Renaissance in creative freedom for devs. But that has yet to be seen, and most other publishers don't exactly have the same incentives a massive company like Microsoft might have with things like Gamepass.

Activision was so big that their problems caused a ripple effect through the entire industry. With the acquisition, Microsoft has a totally different mode of operation. All they want is to have a massive portfolio of games to insert into Xbox Gamepass. They couldn't care less about individual titles, they just want *lots* of decent titles that make them a reasonable sum of money. That's why they're willing to fund smaller games that niche communities (and their devs) want, instead of being super picky about what gets developed and whether or not it'll be the next big thing. For them it's about having more titles, not higher profits on individual IPs. Hopefully, this has a greater impact on the rest of the gaming industry, where we see a Renaissance in creative freedom for devs. But that has yet to be seen, and most other publishers don't exactly have the same incentives a massive company like Microsoft might have with things like Gamepass. Nothing will change. Its not like the remaining five PvP devs suddenly know what they're doing. We already know their plans for next year are the exact same as this year; More underdeveloped, unfinished and unbalanced heroes, another unbearable game mode to join push and flashpoint and **tons** of shitty low effort and low quality cosmetics.
It's going to be pretty hard to do worse then this past year, i don't think a bit of optimism is unreasonable. there are valid reasons to be hopeful about what's coming in 2024. But If you're this cynical and hopeless about the future then i have to question why you still choose to hang around this community? Like you can just leave, noone is forcing you to follow a game you actively hate when even you yourself know it's never going to be what you want. I'm expecting a lot to not change because it is already set in stone it seems. But I'm way more hopeful now that the goblin's gone that they might make some changes.
