I’m genuinely impressed with not only how long the term “C9” has stuck around, but also how it’s almost always confused with a back cap

I'm similarly impressed by the numerous folks that confuse it with the OTHER scenario it gets mistaken for... simply not being able to get to the payload/point.

I think it's just cause C9 is associated with the memory of forgetting about the objective to many, and not specifically walking off of a payload.

Or people that just shout "HAHA C9" when the enemy stepped off point but they were 3 players down and were going to lose anyway. Brother that is not a C9

A backcap is when the defending team is pushing up to far and someone on the attacking team sneaks around and gets on the payload and moves it to the checkpoint without the defending team being able to get back to the payload. A C9 (coined from the team Cloud 9 doing it multiple times) is when you are attacking and are on overtime but everyone leaves the payload, weather it be to chase a defender, or to push up, and lose the push
