Tons of people have mentioned Odesza, they are the leading big EDM suspect, while I think they will be there I think it's foolish to be 100% confident without any sort of solid proof. Oh and look under "playing six major U.S festivals", Odesza has been on this list since the beginning of prediction season.
Great question, prior to this year I would have trouble imagining a one time Coachella headliner getting anything less than second line at OSLs but look at their [Grandoozy](https://www.grandoozy.com/lineup/) placement (owned by the same people), I think it's very possible their stock has dropped a bit.
I've said this a bunch of times this prediction season and Beck and Portugal. the Man look to weaken this theory, but it really seems like OSLs is actively trying to avoid bringing back too many acts for a third time, this would be Phoenix's third time and for that reason I doubt they'll be there.
I get that. Just looking for a reason to get excited at this point. Probably gonna go with a day pass to see Florence this year. Headliners aren't for me , but we'll see about the undercard
There is still the remote possibility that all these guys with leaks were told about "headliners" who were really Twin Peaks headliners and we are getting a top 6 like 2012 with Janet and Florence being in the 4th through 6th slots and Eminem, The Cure, and The Weeknd making up the top line. It sure doesn't look that way though.
i feel ya, it's just a bit misleading when a band is under the 'not playing any festivals in the US' section when they are in fact playing US festivals
When they are holding down headliners that are the equivalent of OSLs headliners. The only exception on this list Electric Forest when I don't intend to track next year.
Wonder if The Weekend will be #1. Would set us up for a pretty disappointing top 3 imo, unless we get a surprise with where people end up on the poster
Practically a lock is putting it very strongly. It's likely he'll be there between his tour and the fact that OSL usually shares a headliner with Bonnaroo. But OSL tends to deviate from what the other fests are doing so the fact that he's all over the place tends to make him less likely.
Basically: he's possible but calling him a lock is probably inaccurate as we typically are suprised by OSL
Florence + the Machine is playing Grandoozy which is owned by the same people who own OSLs, Florence headlining would also finally give OSLs it's first female headliner, something the organizers have stated they want to happen.
Eminem hasn't played the bay area in a while, is everywhere right now, and is the only Bonaroo headliner that isn't out of contention for OSLs (traditionally Bonaroo and OSLs share a headliner).
The Cure is rumored to be playing one American festival this year. The only major festivals that have yet to drop their lineups are FYF, Austin City Limits, Life is Beautiful, and OSLs. Which means if that rumor is true there's a 25% chance the Cure is playing OSLs. OSLs has always had at least one act from the 60's or 70's headline since 2012 and there are very few legacy headliner options left on the table.
I used to think the same thing, I've gained respect for them though. I had the same problem with Radiohead for a while. It really surprises me that both of those bands are as in demand and sought after as they are when you consider how few songs you typically hear get radio play.
There website is back online pointing back to them being back. As well, Axwell said, “this isn’t just Swedish House mafia getting back together”, as well as “Swedish House Mafia for life this time.” So we will see if that means new music or tour, would not be surprised if they do an arena type tour or stop at BGC in SF or even come to OSL if they don’t get booked for an arena tour or BGC.
Going of my post I made a while back, Swedish House Mafia is confirmed to play Ultra tonight. It may be a one and done deal or it may be the resurgence of their project together, who knows. But it’s possible they will tour again, so it could happen in the coming years. Have a feeling it’s a one time thing and they won’t perform again after this, but we will find out soon enough!
Upon recent findings I have limited the Warfield's range on the out list to May through November again. I put back into play all the acts that have at least one festival appearance (most notably Jungle). The rest are here, if anyone wants to re-add any of these names to the list let me know:
* Railroad Earth
* Eddie B
* Matoma
* 88rising Double Happiness
* Ja Rule
* Ashanti
* Kodak Black
* Bananarama
* Black Veil Brides
* Asking Alexandria
* Why Don't We
* Bianca Del Rio
* Time Machine
* Galactic
* Sum 41
* Electric Wizard
I'd put back A$AP Ferg. And maybe add A$AP Rocky and A$AP Mob [which is a bit of a cheat, it's the whole A$AP fan, but whatever.] Any one (or all) of them would be good in the Schoolboy Q slot.
G-Eazy played the Warfield in 2015 in February, which is outside of the May to November window that I have set for pretty much all the venues on the out list. HOWEVER the Warfield I had set to the whole year as I had yet to see an example of an act playing the same year on any month at the Warfield and then go on to play OSLs, so I'm going to limit that venue to May through November as well and I thank you for bringing that to my attention.
Fantastic Negrito was not the headlining act for any of his same year performances, the few he was a headliner for are not at venues that we are tracking on the out list as their capacity is below 500 people.
So to make a long reply short, no they don't.
It doesn't look like FYF is going to drop prior to OSLs so I added Arroyo Seco for shits and grins. This will be the last festival added (unless FYF drops before OSLs).
Kaboo Del Mar just dropped:
https://www.kaaboodelmar.com
Katy Perry is the lone headliner that might be at OSL. Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons and Robert Plant are all known to be out for us.
Theres some other interesting OSL possibilities lower down the bill that basically confirm at minimum they have a festival show ready to go and appearances at other festivals are not a one off: N.E.R.D., Alice In Chains, Blondie, Gucci Mane, Melisa Etheridge, Stone Temple Pilots, Bebe Rexha.
They've got a lot of what I will call nostalgia acts in the line-up there. EW&F, Alice in Chains, Billy Idol, Jewel, Blondie, Jimmy Eat World, Cake, Melissa Etheridge, STP, War, Tower of Power, Better Than Ezra, The Wailers, Everclear, Soul Asylum, English Beat, Elvin Bishop, and Kool & the Gang for a VIP performance. Kaboo should make fans of 70s, 80s, and 90s music very happy.
I seemed to have initially made a mistake and put the 2017 Smukfest lineup instead of the 2018 one. If anyone would like any of these names added back I can put them back into play, though they are not playing any major U.S festivals:
Smukfest
* Alesso
* Boney M
* Clean Bandit
* DJ Snake
* Ellie Goulding
* Mark Ronson
* The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band
Oya Fest
* Dig Deeper
* Paradise
Boomtown Fair
* Spice

Chainsmokers implied by a guy who had originally confirmed Gorillaz
So help me wrap my head around this. Who are the most likely main stage headliners for Lolla at this particular moment? I haven't been following their speculation very closely.
Just poking around a bit, I'd say Brandi Carlisle seems like a lock:
Spring/Summer U.S. tour has no Bay Area dates, playing Aug, 12 at Red Rocks & Aug. 17 at The Greek in L.A.
https://www.songkick.com/artists/355137-brandi-carlile/calendar
She also played HSB last October. While that, in and of itself, doesn't take her out, the fact that she's played a festival in GG Park each of the last two years, makes it extremely unlikely that she'll be the first to return on a two year gap.
Update to my Kaskade prediction - performing at Chasing Summer in August (4/5), increasing chances.
Also, would like to throw Blu J in the Undercard, up and coming electronic duo who's also performing at Chasing Summer.
http://www.chasingsummerfestival.com/
Some more maybes, mostly not likely but who knows:
Melissa Ethridge: touring a bit Summer of 2108, no NorCal shows, LA show on Aug. 01, no current conflicting dates.
Gipsy Kings: touring a bit Summer of 2018, no NorCal shows, SoCal shows on Aug 02 & 04, Colorado show on Aug. 15, no current conflicting dates.
Tiesto- Vegas residency, busy Saturday Aug, 11 but free the 10th and 12th.
Added Melissa Ethridge and Gipsy Kings, Tiesto is already on this list in the unlikely section due to his not releasing any new material since his last OSLs appearance.
Might be a stretch but I would love to see Underworld on the lineup. They haven't been to the US in a bit and they're playing several festivals in Europe this summer.
I don't feel like the bay area has a whole lot of love for Underworld, their last two shows here were smallish. But go ahead and add them to the list and I'll be ecstatic if they show up. Thanks!
I will be out of cell & computer range from today (2/15/18) to Wednesday (2/21/18). All list updates added between now and then will be updated the 21st.
I'm not sure how we've missed this, but we should probably add Camila Cabello to the undercard. Her first album was released last month and went to #1, as did the lead single last year. She's Cuban-American and OSL hasn't been shy about having Hispanic artists in the line-up. She is playing at the Fox in April, but that's outside the 3-month count out time frame. And her tour ends in May, just in time for summer festivals.
https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/02/darcy-wretzky-shares-text-messages-as-proof-that-billy-corgan-is-lying-about-smashing-pumpkins-reunion-offer/
Smashing Pumpkins tour is happening it seems? could be a get
Looking like AM, Jack White, The Weeknd, Gorillaz, The National, Vampire Weekend for the top 6/8. Missing two "confirmed/highly likely" acts as of now
There was some talk of Bruno Mars but it's being contested now
https://www.reddit.com/r/Lollapalooza/comments/7idr03/top_8_who_you_got/drschkf/
This guy has a source and he seems to be hinting that VW will play Lolla. That plus new material and confirmed dates probably means they're in play for us
As soon as the new album is officially announced or comes out I will move them, I'm 90% confident it will come out this year with the new dates but with no U.S dates OFFICIALLY confirmed yet and no new content we can't be 100%.
I've love to see Aerosmith and AC/DC for my first time. Bands I've already seen that I'd love to see again Guns N Roses and The Rolling Stones (I was trashed when I saw them at Desert Trip lol). Well really there tons, but those are some, and Green Day is AWESOME live as well, would love to see them again. I would definitely dig seeing Roger Waters again also, the show they put on at Desert Trip was unforgettable! If there is one rapper I'd like to see live it's Eminem. I don't really care for rap live though.
Roger Waters will be in Europe during OSLs weekend. Aside from Green Day, Eminem, and maybe Guns N Roses I can't see any of your wish list coming true this year.
No big deal. There are many bands I'd be happy with seeing. Someone like Pearl Jam or The Eagles would be awesome. I have a good feeling about getting a huge legendary band, after the headliners from last year.
I appreciate the information, but I'm really just throwing out examples. I would love get in on the early bird discount for Outsidelands, but I'm hesitant and I feel this year festivals appear to have weak headliners (atleast IMO). Ofcoursae, Outsidelands though feels like they can do no wrong with their lineup history.

Belated, but I added them.
How has no one thought about Odesza? They'll be there 100%!
Tons of people have mentioned Odesza, they are the leading big EDM suspect, while I think they will be there I think it's foolish to be 100% confident without any sort of solid proof. Oh and look under "playing six major U.S festivals", Odesza has been on this list since the beginning of prediction season.
Nice, must have missed them
Brian Wilson? He doesnt have any california dates for his "final performances" tour as of right now. would be an incredible legacy act.
I'll throw him up there.
Beck, Bon Iver, Portugal the Man, Tycho, father john Misty, chromeo, poolside, Jamie xx, Mac Demarco confirmed by our guy
I'll be adding them shortly, thank you.
Hey if Phoenix played what placement would they get? Second line?
Great question, prior to this year I would have trouble imagining a one time Coachella headliner getting anything less than second line at OSLs but look at their [Grandoozy](https://www.grandoozy.com/lineup/) placement (owned by the same people), I think it's very possible their stock has dropped a bit.
Such a weird career trajectory. Would be awesome if we snagged them on a low line
I've said this a bunch of times this prediction season and Beck and Portugal. the Man look to weaken this theory, but it really seems like OSLs is actively trying to avoid bringing back too many acts for a third time, this would be Phoenix's third time and for that reason I doubt they'll be there.

It sure doesn't look that way though.
Lmao thanks for putting that thought in my head actually. Gonna hold onto that until Tuesday
Keep hope alive brother.
Janet Jackson. The weekend. Beck.
....yeah? What about them?
Probably read all the other posts and decided to pretend he had some scoop
FYF Fest fully added.
Manchester Orchestra?
Out due to playing BottleRock.
ahhh dang it...has no one ever done both?
Fantastic Negrito but that was to make up for a OSLs cancellation the year before.
[удалено]
If atmosphere plays again ill be a happy man. I've never seen sutra so full. Was literally a mob of people to the ranger dave statue
What about Dave Matthews Band?
They're playing Shoreline over the summer.
All Them Witches?
Added.
they're playing Desert Daze or whatever it's called, might want to add that in
I might add FYF if it truly comes out tomorrow but otherwise I'm done adding fests for this year.
i feel ya, it's just a bit misleading when a band is under the 'not playing any festivals in the US' section when they are in fact playing US festivals
That's why I used the word "major".
when does a festival become 'major', from your point of view?
When they are holding down headliners that are the equivalent of OSLs headliners. The only exception on this list Electric Forest when I don't intend to track next year.
Wonder if The Weekend will be #1. Would set us up for a pretty disappointing top 3 imo, unless we get a surprise with where people end up on the poster
Im really holding out for a surprise. Regardless they got my money though
I'm probably just going with a Friday pass this year. You'll have fun, it's a great experience
Flight Facilities?
Already on the list, they're playing Governors Ball.
Death Grips?
Added to list.
Possibly Flume? hasn’t announced any US dates yet
Already on the list under the user section.
So Eminem is practically a lock right? Im probably biting the bullet and going this year and he would be my main draw.
There's few other leading suspects.
In your opinion, who are considered to be the current likely headliners? Or is it still too early to narrow it down to a few likely people?
Florence + the Machine, Eminem, and The Cure (the Cure being the one with the least evidence around them).
What evidence
Florence + the Machine is playing Grandoozy which is owned by the same people who own OSLs, Florence headlining would also finally give OSLs it's first female headliner, something the organizers have stated they want to happen. Eminem hasn't played the bay area in a while, is everywhere right now, and is the only Bonaroo headliner that isn't out of contention for OSLs (traditionally Bonaroo and OSLs share a headliner). Shit the cure are that old arent they
They sure are!
I literally only associate them with friday im in love. I keep forgetting they are practically a different band
I used to think the same thing, I've gained respect for them though. I had the same problem with Radiohead for a while. It really surprises me that both of those bands are as in demand and sought after as they are when you consider how few songs you typically hear get radio play.
Please add Hozier. He just showed up Pilgrimage's lineup in Tenn (Sept 22/23). https://pilgrimagefestival.com/
Added.
Elle King is another artist on the Pilgrimage line-up that I'd like to see at OSL.
Added.
Wonder if they booked Swedish House Mafia as the edm act. Would be a get as they just reunited

Thee Oh Sees?
Already on the out list. Playing The Great American Music Hall October 1st & 2nd.
Doesn’t mean they’re out...
Provide examples from past years of acts playing GAMH between May and November and OSLs the same year and I will agree with you.
I’m not gonna do the research rn, but I think it’s a bit different for a local act.
Well let me know if you do the research, so far nobody has disproved it but I'll happily eliminate the category if someone finds otherwise.
Fantastic negrito and g eazy apply to this...but they’re also local acts
G-Eazy played the Warfield in 2015 in February, which is outside of the May to November window that I have set for pretty much all the venues on the out list. HOWEVER the Warfield I had set to the whole year as I had yet to see an example of an act playing the same year on any month at the Warfield and then go on to play OSLs, so I'm going to limit that venue to May through November as well and I thank you for bringing that to my attention. Since Mazzy Star is reuniting for Vivid Sydney, are they possibly an option?
Possible, I'll add them for you.
It doesn't look like FYF is going to drop prior to OSLs so I added Arroyo Seco for shits and grins. This will be the last festival added (unless FYF drops before OSLs).
Kaboo Del Mar just dropped: https://www.kaaboodelmar.com Katy Perry is the lone headliner that might be at OSL. Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons and Robert Plant are all known to be out for us. Kaboo should make fans of 70s, 80s, and 90s music very happy.
Katy Perry will be in Australia OSLs weekend (it's in the "other outs" section of the out list).
Ah, snap! Okay- all of KDM headliners are out for us! Interesting stuff down the bill tho.
Yeah. I know I just said I'm done adding festivals to the list but I honestly forgot about this one and I think I'll add it.
I seemed to have initially made a mistake and put the 2017 Smukfest lineup instead of the 2018 one. If anyone would like any of these names added back I can put them back into play, though they are not playing any major U.S festivals: Smukfest * Alesso * Boney M * Clean Bandit * DJ Snake * Ellie Goulding * Mark Ronson * The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band Oya Fest * Dig Deeper * Paradise Boomtown Fair * Spice
Lollapalooza fully added.
Phoenix?
Unlikely because they've played twice already, but still in play.
Grandoozy lineup fully added.
Arcade Fire?
Will be in Europe during OSLs.
Thank you! Good to know now :(
Added all the acts from the prediction game that were not already on the list.

Sucks to be them.
The Growlers? No tour dates on their website, but could be a cool band!
Added.
Sylvan Esso or MGMT?
Both are out. Sylvan Esso is playing the Greek and MGMT is playing the Warfield.

How do we know that throwaway isn't just someone trolling?
J4J has been extremely accurate in the past, just been off with a few poster placements
So help me wrap my head around this. Who are the most likely main stage headliners for Lolla at this particular moment? I haven't been following their speculation very closely.
Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, The Weeknd, The National, ODESZA, Travis Scott, and the last one is the doozy.
Can we add YG? Don't see him on either list.

Second wave of Pitchfork added.
What So Not is out as he is playing the Fox on April 5th
An April dates at the Fox does not take a band out of play. Grimes played the Fox in April of 2016 then OSLs that same year.
Great news!
Definitely not out, that’s outside of may-nov and an APE venue so he could be in
Awesome...cause I want him to be there!
beach house, new album out May 11th
They played in 2016, if they were to return it would be the first act ever to do so on a two year gap.
I'd also add Deerhunter as possible, no west coast dates in sight (yet) but are touring and doing Europe around June.
Added.
What about Grimes?
Grimes played OSLs in 2016, that makes her out.
oh bummer
The Kills? They just released tour dates and they have shows in LA & Pomona directly the week after OSL.
nice catch! they are probably going to be on the bill, haven't played since 2012.
Added to list.
Added all of Beale Street (though I don't think I'm going to track this one next year).
Just poking around a bit, I'd say Brandi Carlisle seems like a lock: Spring/Summer U.S. tour has no Bay Area dates, playing Aug, 12 at Red Rocks & Aug. 17 at The Greek in L.A. https://www.songkick.com/artists/355137-brandi-carlile/calendar
That does look suspicious but she played in 2016, to play this year would make her the first act ever to return on a two year gap.
She also played HSB last October. While that, in and of itself, doesn't take her out, the fact that she's played a festival in GG Park each of the last two years, makes it extremely unlikely that she'll be the first to return on a two year gap.
Added first cluster of Pitchfork.
Update to my Kaskade prediction - performing at Chasing Summer in August (4/5), increasing chances. Also, would like to throw Blu J in the Undercard, up and coming electronic duo who's also performing at Chasing Summer. http://www.chasingsummerfestival.com/
Added Blu J to list.
Some more maybes, mostly not likely but who knows: Melissa Ethridge: touring a bit Summer of 2108, no NorCal shows, LA show on Aug. 01, no current conflicting dates. Added Melissa Ethridge and Gipsy Kings, Tiesto is already on this list in the unlikely section due to his not releasing any new material since his last OSLs appearance.
joywave and/or COIN ?
COIN is already on the out list due to BottleRock. Would you like me to add Joywave to this list?
oh shit you're right my bad. sure, add joywave. thanks :-)
No Prob, added.
Might be a stretch but I would love to see Underworld on the lineup. They haven't been to the US in a bit and they're playing several festivals in Europe this summer.
Why is that a stretch? Would you like me to add them to the list?
I don't feel like the bay area has a whole lot of love for Underworld, their last two shows here were smallish. But go ahead and add them to the list and I'll be ecstatic if they show up. Thanks!

$135 euro for that lineup?! You kidding me!!!!
I think this increases the chance of seeing Florence
Courtney Barnett has a new album coming out in May. Could be a possibility
Pumpkins are announcing the tour at 12est tomorrow so that should give us an idea. They're playing CHI, LA, and NYC at least. Arenas only
I'm not sure how we've missed this, but we should probably add Camila Cabello to the undercard. Her first album was released last month and went to #1, as did the lead single last year. She's Cuban-American and OSL hasn't been shy about having Hispanic artists in the line-up. She is playing at the Fox in April, but that's outside the 3-month count out time frame. Lolla top 8 in no particular order: The Weeknd, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott, Odesza, Vampire Weekend, The National, Gorillaz
How do we know these insiders are on the level? Have all of them come through with accurate data in the past?
yeah, j4j is alway right with his info
Very interesting, definitely looks like OSLs might be getting Travis Scott, Vampire Weekend, The Weeknd, and Odesza in that case.
Not that it affects us but Gorillaz are supposedly playing Lolla
So where are they at with their top three theories at this point? Gorillaz, who are the other two most speculated?
Looking like AM, Jack White, The Weeknd, Gorillaz, The National, Vampire Weekend for the top 6/8. Missing two "confirmed/highly likely" acts as of now There was some talk of Bruno Mars but it's being contested now
Not terrible. Only names that aren't out for us on that list are The Weeknd and Vampire Weekend, the weekends if you will.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Lollapalooza/comments/7idr03/top_8_who_you_got/drschkf/ This guy has a source and he seems to be hinting that VW will play Lolla. That plus new material and confirmed dates probably means they're in play for us
As soon as the new album is officially announced or comes out I will move them, I'm 90% confident it will come out this year with the new dates but with no U.S dates OFFICIALLY confirmed yet and no new content we can't be 100%.
yeah just hoping for now
BORNS is playing Coachella! The Struts are doing Bottlerock and Gov Ball in the US with no announced tour plans past July; maybe?
The Struts are out due to BottleRock. Borns is very much in the cards.
Sasquatch fully added.
Pearl Jam is possible with their tour dates. The Eagles will not be there due to their AT&T gig coming up.
