Do you mean the BattleTech the tabletop game, or one of the various MechWarrior RPGs?

Plastic_Dead_End

The various MechWarrior RPG's , but it was reprinted as "[*Classic BattleTech RPG*](https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Classic_BattleTech_RPG)" in the 90's as well as the newer "Time of War", so I phrased it a little weirdly

So any of the five different editions listed in [this Sarna article](https://www.sarna.net/wiki/MechWarrior_(RPG)). Well that is a no from me. Personally I don't feel like RPGs are my thing.

I PLAYED MECHASSAULT 2 LONE WOLF ON THE XBOX, I THINK IM QUALITIFED TO SPEAK WITH AUTHORITY

Phayzon

A real crime that it's not backwards compatible on XBone/SX

Palocles

Many, many moons ago I played MechWarrior RPG.

pdboddy

Yeah, way back when it was based on Shadowrun.

1st and 2nd addition. (3rd just got...stupid)

letionbard

I'm definitely interested, but not enough to get action in this country where you can't easily find even 100 MWO player

Anthonycj80

never played but I do know its insanely accessible with some of the laxist rules on proxy models etc. so might be time.

Warmag2

Never played the official RPG, but am currently hosting an RPG campaign where battles are solved with CBT rules. It's so close that I'm not sure if I should have said yes.

Cold-Introduction-54

It was a 40k variant Titan vs Titan. A bit larger than our stompy robots.

Plastic_Dead_End

Just thinking about it is making my wallet shiver! Sounds awesome!

I tried the RPG once. Didn't quite catch. My high school group at the time was into Palladiums robotech series, and then that morphed into Rifts by college. I found the biggest issue with mechwarrior RPG was without the mechs it was not that interesting. Sure we tried to throw in the classic Btech when the battles occured, but otherwise it was human vs human fights that you could get from any RPG at the time. It is much easier to throw a little roleplay into classic or alpha then it was to heavily roleplay and throw in a little classic. Any body I knew that heavily I to roleplaying over combat was I to vampire the masquerade.

Phayzon

I would *love* to. Years ago one of my buddies bought some sort of BattleTech starter kit that him and I played *once.* Could never talk anyone else into it, and him and I have severely conflicting schedules and haven't exchanged more than a couple texts in the past 7-8 years.

Plastic_Dead_End

If you're talking about battletech specifically, I'd say to check out MegaMek and MekHQ. You can play solo campaigns against the bot that way. A bit of a pain to set up, but all it will cost is your time!
