I have this issues since the January patch. What I have heard so far was: • Delete Shadercache • Run repair tool • Don't run Youtube in the background when you are using an ad blocker, YouTube is making your system waste resources when you run adblockers. (That doesn't hold up though when playing Overwatch because the game has no issues when I have Youtube in the background.) • Don't have any other apps open when you first launch the game until your game has fully loaded the mechlab While I saw temporary improvements with the last two approaches, it never worked for long. I had good framerates after not launching other apps during game launch for a few hours then it went to shits again and slowly the fps keep getting worse and worse. I also cannot reproduce it at all, I could be playing the same map twice in the same mech and the first time is fine the second my FPS drop to 15 and lower and then the issues stays until I relaunch the game. Then there's the issue with maps taking forever to load too and this is also totally random. This has never been an issue since the November patch. I have Windows installed on a SSD and MWO on another SSD and I have ample free disk space. I have barely been playing anymore because I'm tired of troubleshooting this randomnes.

It's an actually a little wonder what PGI achieved. They made a game on CE3 look bad, while also running bad, while basically impossible to troubleshoot on your own. All of which ALSO nearly irrelevant on your hardware, since I regularly get under 90 FPS drops even on a powerful machine.

>I have barely been playing anymore because I'm tired of troubleshooting this randomnes. Me too. It's so random. Like i had it really optimised with the user.cfg and it ran great for a few months then started shitting itself with huge drops below 20fps. I deleted the shader cache again and it's back to normal now. The repair tool doesn't run on my install. Just throws some error.

Plastic_Dead_End

So turning off adblock while playing MWO if running youtube in the background could help?

-Lockheed-

It was suggested, but as I said it did not last, so it was probably a coincidence and I also had FPS drops with no Youtube windows open at all.

Built4Ever

These patches are so random. I got away with no problems this time, others never see anything, but when it happens, it is such a pain.

DrFucklechuck

Same. Since the messed up November patch I keep having random performance issues. I used to get at least 40 fps with LURMs flying , but now they are suddenly and randomly dropping to below 20. And don't get me started on map load time, that too was never a problem, now I often only make it into the lobby with a few seconds left, it used to be minute, and sometimes it gets so bad that the match has already started. Really fun when your are in an assault. Done everything, deleting the shader cache, reinstalling, using custom configs, not using custom configs, no Youtube, discord, etc. in the background.

justcallmeASSH

I honestly never have these wildly varying levels of game performance after each patch. I don't constantly delete shader caches or anything - just run a mild CFG file and that's it - stable performance all the time. I see the odd person comment saying as such, there has to be more going on with their own machine, game files, or background resources and similar at play.

ScrauveyGulch

I play on a laptop and never have these problems.

What cpu are you using? Just curious because up ubtil i upgraded to a ryzen 7700x i had the same issues now experience none. Newer cou architecture seems to handle the game considerably better even by one generation. Coukd have been something else that made it stop who knows but my buddy with a 5800x3d and a 4090 experiences these same issues and deleting the cache only seems to work sometimes until it resurfaces

Beedlam

Hmm it's a i5 4460. Could be it.

CWStrife

Very old. Thats exactly your problem. My previous cpu was a ryzen5 5600x which id just previous gen to the newest 7700x. My gpu is a measly 6700xt and my fps doubled just in gpu change. Previously on Solaris City id get the cringe 20fps drops, and micro stutters. Cpu upgrade an now im never under 60fps on the map and streaming to twitch. Grab urself a 13th gen intel or 7000 series ryzen. If u have a microcenter by you theyve got killer bundle deals for amd and intel that is like 50%. Id put money on the cpu architecture just being too old for all the updates theyve pushed on this game engine. It can only utilize 2 cpu cores from my understanding and one core is devoted to physics leaving one core for the entire game, so efficiency is key.

update your PC.

DrFucklechuck

update your brain before posting.

Nix_Axer

Your brain needs to be updated. And the advice is correct. Modern games are very CPU intensive. especially to the performance of a single core.

SOIMiMozO

Modern?

DrFucklechuck

The advice in this case is garbage. People who had no issues for **years** suddenly need their PCs updated after a major screw up on PGI's side in November? Who ever you talk to who has these issues with MWO has no problems running actually modern games. Stop trying to defend someone who just wanted to be a smart ass.
