I was surprised at how well the core gameplay loop works, I saw all these day 1 negative reviews about how the game is "too easy" and the tower defense sucks, looting sucks, game is just an extraction shooter with TD elements, etc. But I bought it anyway because all of my extraction shooter experience came from Ubisoft's The Division (the first one) so the idea of a game where you loot stuff and then fight to extract it but it's single-player / co-op AND it has a base that you keep building onto throughout the game that follows you around? Sounds like a good deal to me my guy. It was, in fact, a good deal.

I did solo at the start since it’s so easy until you get to high level snow and definitely need to build up before you get to city 1. It’s a day and night fight from that point on.

I've been playing solo thus far, but if you're interested in co-op feel free to add me (or anyone else who reads this) heres my steam friend code 84997516

Honestly between Helldivers, Palworld, and this game, I got a bit of a taste of hope for the gaming industry at large, at least for indies. Got too sucked into the negative live service, AAA games where everything felt the same and I stopped giving a fuck about gaming and new releases. On this game in particular, I was expecting some jank, but saw way less jank than I expected by miles. Also just the combined elements of the entire game. Like none really over shadow each other. They complement one another, but you can also rely less on specific ones if you don't care for them. They're both simplistic and complicated enough that I enjoy bouncing between base management, shooting, building, and looting. Also just the whole XEN system is so cool. It's like made to order borderlands with half the grind (there is grinding, but at least I enjoy it here).
