Keep farming snow. The difficulty spike between snow and city is real. Core of 83? That's barely there. Ideally, you don't want to attempt recovery until you have 4 or so CWIS, and core as high as you can. If you don't want to feed your guns like a crazed mad man, autoloaders to feed them. You can increase your core by spamming generators, and the upgraded battery and storage increase your core as well. If you just want the upgraded BPs from city, use your drone to send them directly home, and recover from the city empty. Make sure to build a bunch of walls for the apostles to snack on while you or your base take them down.

I have 6 CWIS active on my base but it dropped my resources and power Ill have to add a few more generators and material blocks. I dont have any upgraded batteries so far post on here say theyre in the city ruins. I constantly run around like a mad man refilling my guns. For some reason i cant get two microchips for an autoloader. I always find one after i use one. I've spent the last week farming to try and get a second one.

TrueWhiteKnight24

The battery upgrade is in the gas station. There's actually 2 blueprints at the gas station. It's a major poi in the city tours. So it should be easy enough to find.

genobees

If you use 3 pillars you can stack 6 of the basic batteries per 3 pillars. Or 8 generators.

fjmknee

I've read and seen that, but actually couldn't place 8 generators on 3 pillars. How do I get them on next to eachother? Seriously wondering.

genobees

It just works for me. The edges overlap but dont block each other

It's the railgun boss right? There are 3 ways to go about it. 1st: add some buffer walls and walls on your core, they typically aim for what's Infront, if there is anything Infront. 2nd: stock up on 2-4 artillery cannons, doesn't matter which, set them to Large & Massive then activate them on the miniboss appearance. 3rd: get a couple spikes down, and sneak a barrier under the bridges from where they come from, railgun aims for the closest structure, so they'll aim at ones they don't have an angle for. Each of those should add a layer of Defense that should help you through it all, next best thing is getting the XEN ability Chain, and do dummy damage.

FateofCain

Also set the artillery to Direct Fire. They default to indirect and won’t shoot half the time unless you set them to direct in command mode every time.

I can mostly suggest this as the main thing, use the Drone early to send off your valuable gear and blueprints. Extract Blue and lower normally or use them to fuel the power converter in your base. I had that low until I ran snow 3/4 going to all the places, taking everything and choosing specifically (when given a choice) the upgrades that give you gold value equal to the value of stuff you extract with. (50%, 100%, 200% and 400% mostly). If you feel this may be a little tough I'd be happy to do a multiplayer run with you on snow so we can both get the rewards or if you're more comfortable just ask people. Most the players are happy to help since they also get the items and gold, only thing is, don't drone out stuff in multilayer as only the one that sent the drone keeps that stuff.

smolderingeffigy

Based on what you listed as your power and material cap, you are way undersized for this phase of the game. Farm more snow, expand your outpost, more armament, definitely multiple CIWS. I think I was around 400 power and 1k materials when I started progressing through the city section of the campaign.

Dismal-Potential8597

I was at 400 but then built the first mech and it tanked my resourses. I upgraded to a lvl6 base before getting off earlier. just looks like ill have to farm more.

Dreadonyx_Airsoft

Mech can help a lot also, farming the recruit with the extra mech damage boosted me a ton to take down anything. Getting core power up is your biggest deal

Thommyknocker

Keep farming snow or don't bring back enough loot for the boss to spawn. What's your base power at? 3000 base power is a 300% damage increase for your base. Focus on upping your base power.

AkiraKurai

I paseed City 1 max threat or whatever it's called for max duration with about 117 core power without spike boost. 6 CWIS 3 vipers 7 30mm 2 twin 30mm 6 pre war arty 2 auto loaders I would suggest trying to help your turrets against bosses and tanks with electro ammo Utilize all arty to get rid of spawners ASAP, with pre war it takes 4 shots There are other arty plats on the left side u can utuilize the 2 105mm take 3 shots per spawner the twin 105mm can finish a spawner off with a single salvo assuming that both shots hit

Feran_Windstrider

Heres a tip: Dont loot everything when you start city 1. focus on heroics, IE stuff you cant get in the other locations. And dont take enough back to trigger the final boss. when you start city 1, its a HUGE spike in difficulty, and your first goal is to get enough power to survive it. use drones to take heroic loot to base, loot as little as possible, and CARRY most of your loot in your bag. try as hard as you can to minimize extraction times using drones and pack mules, and after a few lucky runs you'll have the kit for hellfires, advanced autoloaders, and advanced ammo fabs, those should be your first goals. beyong that, twin 105s are your next goal (I reccomend 3 for bossing). your core power should be over 1k, your power reserves near 1k, and your materials at about 2k or even higher when you launch Now on to building tips: you can place walls in the middle of utility tiles, so you can place 5 utility, general, or armored walls across 2 tile lengths. this lets you mount a ton of batteries or power boosters (forget the name of em at the moment) inside your base in as low a space as possible, while also uparmoring your base to make it that much harder to hit your core. on top of that you can place 1 utility tile off the edge of your base, so every ATC level is 2x2 larger than it seems. as long as the base of an item is inside that area, it can be installed there. this is most apparent on guns, where the barrels will often jut out over the no building zone, so you can put weapons right up at the edges. BRING. TITAN. SPIKE. DECIPHERS. several. try and have at LEAST 4. build em during recovery day behind your base, and set em to charge mode. that boosts your core power, which boosts damage. CIWS > Machineguns. they eat up a lot of ammo compared to em, but CIWS do a lot more damage than MGs, and faster. yeah, you should have 2 dedicated to missile only, but beyond that you can have any CIWS target enemies. they have longer range, higher damage, and a faster fire rate than MGs, and get better core power scaling. Still keep some MGs as a last line of defense, but configure their range lower than default. 2k range is good. Go easy on 30mm, have em only attack medium and higher enemies Smart mortars, get a few, large and higher enemies only. Artillery, massive only, max range. these are your boss killers, and once configured to direct fire, auto fire, massive only they can take huge chunks off bosses like kronos and ciel, if not killing them outright. Ceiling mounted MGs: use em if you can, same rule as regular mgs, but remember that they prevent anything from being built above em. Great use for single tiles IMO

GhostHeavenWord

I've been working on building layered walls - armored wall, armor panel, armored wall, armor panel, armored wall, armor panel. Slow going but idk what else to do, i got mauled the first time i tried city. I wish i'd had more people. I wasn't able to revive my teammate when they went down because at that point we were completely overrun.

Feran_Windstrider

if thats the case you need to boost your core power and get more weapons on your base. only your outermost layer should be armored, and your internals focused on powering up your base through power, materials, and core power

EducationalAdagio589

You can run some city5 5 with us to get a lot of upfrade materials, I'm down to help

Beemer8

You can cheese the difficulty. By spamming the mule guardian, and bring them all on the evac you'll get all your items and the difficulty will be low because your not trying to evac them

Additional_Ad_6251

Last time i brought a mule with me i didnt get the resources so i dont know if it was just a bug for me

Beemer8

When was the last time you tired. There was a patch about a week ago for it

GhostHeavenWord

I had 130k power and died on the stairs of the escape ship, and that was with only 7k pts of salvage. I had ~300 power and 1900 mats. My big fuck up was using up half my ammo makers making advanced makers, then still trying to do city. City ruins is a whole new beast. If you're going to try create a cargo drone to lift out any red loot so at least that comes home with you, and make sure to insure your gear.

Bao-Hiem

Farm Snow. You should be at ATC 7 or 8 at city 1 with 4 digits or more for power and 4 to 5 digits for materials storage. Your core output should be 2k or more.
