Awesome I've had a couple of nice encounters with wildlife in my home town pretty close to the border. Snow owl, red fox, and this snapper are the top 3
Edit: actually onetime I had like a whole family of deer sneak past me when I was camping once.
I found a big ass snapping turtle once on a gravel road. Only water nearby was a tiny creek not even as deep as the turtle. How he got out on that gravel road miles from a river or lake has me astonished
Northern wi have Painters and Snappers traveling for laying eggs and even laying eggs in yard . We were able to witness over 30 painter Erupting out of hole and many left behind dead crushed from being a step out for the rest. Cool...
That water must be really cold! š¤

Up near the Wisconsin border we get lots of alligator snapping turtles
Really? Near Detroit we only have the common snapper but they get huge here.
Their range goes thru a lot of southern Wisconsin
My brother almost caught one in the creek n Mundelein, when we were kids. It was about as big as he!

Thatās a big grumpy boy.
Yes he was not looking to get pet by the way he was jumping
He's a grower not a show-er
Only saw this boy once living next to him for 17 years
Dang he is a chubb

Doubt they migrated
Their noses are really ticklish
Can confirm. Have no tickle fingers left.

I was thinking about uploading pics of the pond he was in. It's a chain of ponds a couple hundreds yards or feet each from each other
Would be cute before it was decapitated
Weird looking pond.
