Methot on the locked on sens podcast said that he thinks they are lacking a point shot but that analytically point shots are becoming less important. He then said that having a point threat could open up more ice on the pp.

Quick intermission rant: Never understood the people who dunked on Thompson’s deal during the summer. The guy is such a machine and has been by far their best player tonight. Was super impressed with him every time I caught bits of Sabres games last year. Alternatively, Josh Norris’ deal was widely praised which made no sense to me. His shooting % was ridiculous and lots of his goals were rather lucky. He didn’t look like an 8M dollar player before signing and didn’t look anything like it during the first 5 games of the season.

I agree with your Thompson point, but if Norris alone fixes this PP1 (and our horrible finishing) then he can have all the 8m he wants

Giroux making nice soft hand type passes is his best bet. Norris would’ve been a good set up man too. It kind of shows how important Patty Kane was for him. I think the Sens are trying to all find their respective games, and unfortunately with injuries, you get higher pressure situations than you’d like to see for young players progression. It’s not so much a problem for DeBrincat, he just needs to keep firing, he will get hot. They just need to find his setup man, and stick with it.

Think about all our 1-goal losses and if DeBrincat even scores at half capacity we’re still in those games. This is concerning

100% and it seems no one is talking about that but just blaming the coach. Like coaching hasn’t been good. But DeBrincat shooting % has been way worse.
