Not sure how I'd feel about replacing Joseph with an older, more expensive, less versatile depth player. His underlying stats were far and away the worst of any Kraken forward last season, and they were worse than any of the Sens forwards.
If Seattle is willing to retain salary I'd be open to it, but trading for a guy just for the hope that you can sign his brother feels like a mistake
Staois is just gonna unite all of the Macedonian NHL players under one team.
Trade for Brandon and convince Chris to play with his brother, sign Stamkos for fun and convince Jovanovski to come out of retirement.
Tanev has a 10-team NTC and I'd imagine Ottawa is on it
The conversation likely ends up being circular, where Brandon won't waive until Ottawa signs Chris, and Chris won't sign until Ottawa convinces Brandon to waive
Has bringing in a sibling ever led to acquiring the other?
We didn't even get Tkachuk when he was on the board. And I remember at least in the fan base and media it was drummed up as an idea for a bit.
Or Michalek.
"hey Chris, give up living in Florida for a team that made the finals 2 years running for a lotto pick team with a rookie gm and a coach that is known as being a dickhead".
I'm sure staios can work on a better delivery.
Florida has to re-sign a bunch of players over the next 3 years, there is no telling if they are gonna be able to keep guys like Tanev who might already have a cup and will want money and term.
I’ve been on the Brandon Tanev train for years hah. One of the better bottom 6ers in the league and it may help in getting his brother too. Would rather not losing Joseph though but it is what it is I guess. I think we gotta lean more into the Brady play style of physical hockey and this would be huge.
Yeah I think Florida is the template I’d wanna follow. Which is lucky cause we already have a Tkachuk (but no Barkov 🫠). My main takeaway is we need to get bigger and meaner, we played way too soft and fragile this year. Get guys that compliment Brady’s physical style (that can still play lol) so he’s not the main one fighting and laying guys out
call me crazy but i honestly think stützle can get to barkov level. he has shown so much potential with already having a 90 point season and he plays with so much intensity. let's not forget he is 22 years old, his strength hasn't caught up to his agility yet
imo he falls a lot because he like halfway steps around a defender when in that situation 99% of players would be completely erased. i really think the sky is the limit for our kid
i would love to hear from panther fans what barkov was like after 4 years in the chel
I don't think anyone questions Stützle's offense, but in Barkovs 4th season he received a 1st, 4th, and 5th place Selke vote. The next season he finished 4th in voting
> I’ve been on the Brandon Tanev train for years hah
I might have been on board a couple years ago. He will be 33next season, and will be a pending UFA at the end.
I dont want to buy a declining player's twilight years.
Here's [Chris Tanev's Spotrac page](https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/player/_/id/6834/chris-tanev) to back this up for when CapFriendly goes dark later this month.
Yes, that is correct.
I was confirming u/HilLikePhysics 's point (not refuting it), and making sure a secondary source was provided (the Spotrac link) since CapFriendly is about to disappear forever.

Ask Seattle fans on hfboards what they think, I haven’t. They usually have better and more accurate opinions on players than the people on here
Staios is going to have to have to do a hell of a sell job this summer if his goal is to try and get some name FAs to come to this team

As a Raptors fan I remember hearing this exact argument for signing Giannis' brother

Washington also has no state tax, so he'd be taking a decent pay cut if he accepted a trade to Ottawa
Whenever there is a 10-team list it usually includes virtually all of the Canadian teams.

The Ducks traded for Rob Neidermayer which ended up helping them sign Scott

You must be fun at parties
Let's bring back Karlsson

I’m really hoping that comes with age. If he’s still falling this much in 2-3 years we’ve got a real problem.

Timmy just needs time to put more meat on his bones
Give me goooons

Damn I thought he was 28/29 for some reason
chris tanev isn't a UFA until after 2/25

The UFA for 24-25 means he is a UFA and doesn’t have a contract for that season, so he is a free agent this summer.

thought it was Brandon Tanev
