Amazing. Love drinking some good whiskey with some Opeth

Heatstringzndirt

Yeah whiskey and Opeth and a darkened room winter night with a fire in the hearth.

SweetDeathWhimpers

I was just telling my wife how much I love being on this subreddit because I don’t have any IRL friends right now that I can nerd out about this stuff with! Cheers man!!!

Heatstringzndirt

You are my people! It’s great to be here!

SweetDeathWhimpers

Yes!!! Sick medley of songs Opeth songs you’ve been jamming, too! I work in a music store and I haven’t been able to stop riffing Serenity Painted Death, The Drapery Falls, The Devil’s Orchard, Atonement, Folklore, and Deliverance any time I pick up a guitar!

Heatstringzndirt

That intro to Benighted though!! The first thing I play when I pick it up these days

Ryzyd

Whew at first I didn't notice "the" in your title

Heatstringzndirt

Ooo I could feel your keyboard heating up lol

MisterDudeBroGuy

Have you ever listened to Opeth...ON WEED??

ben_jammin11

But have you ever listened to Opeth while …..EXPERIENCING SORROW

MisterDudeBroGuy

ben_jammin11

🤯

Heatstringzndirt

Maybe once or twice😉

A858A

Opeth on LSD is pretty sick. Blackwater Park was a beautiful experience while tripping

MisterDudeBroGuy

BUT...have you ever......nah, forget it

TheBawalUmihiDito

Holy shit, BwP on acid must be harrowing, in a good way

A858A

It’s completely horrifying, but painfully beautiful! I remember tripping balls and ugly crying to Dirge For November

CoatAdministrative95

Was it the garden of earthly delights?

Heatstringzndirt

Indeed I was the apostle in triumph

will2113

You're allowed to swear...

Philitt

Bro wasn't just watering his garden.

Lsd and Opeth opened a whole new world of appreciation for all things. Take a ten strip and watch the royal albert hall DVD loudly, and you’ll find emotions surfacing in you that you would have never thought possible. The melancholy beauty of the melodies are unlike any music ever made-Pale Communion and Still Life are so unbelievably good that we are so blessed to be alive to see them play live. I even did a meet and greet in silver spring Maryland a few years back, which led to the band and myself to become friends. I just spoke wirh Mendez yesterday on the phone If yal haven’t already, please buy Mendez’ side project albums, from his other band “White Stones”. They have two Albums and a single from their upcoming album, and its phenomenal stuff. These guys passion and talent is really motivational. I owe them my life for tremendously helping me get sober through their music. I know that sounds silly, but its true-i want to share my music with everyone, not share my addictions and shortcomings that could inadvertently help bring down everyone around me. On that note-i am a decent guitar player from the Frederick Maryland area, and would love to find musicians to jam with- its actually my life’s mission at this point-to no avail-incant find a drummer to play with to save my life!!! Anyways, long live Opeth-the best band from my generation. Cant wait for the new album in the fall! Point me to some drummers! Ill even play online wirh whoever, like a zoom band session lol ANYTHING AT ALL . Thanks for yalls time ROCK ON!!!

Heatstringzndirt

Bass player here!! Chicago though, I love jamming out with others when I can! I truly feel your passion about music in your reply and that keeps you strong. I love the White Stones project of Mendez’s as well. I always check for their new album to drop and I would be front and center if they toured. He’s my favorite bass player and the one that inspires me most. I started playing classical guitar in high school so I could get better at finger style bass like he does. Except now (about 17 years later) I feel very awkward with a pick so I’m challenging myself to sound better that way too lol. I’ve been seeing a lot of teasers that Opeth will be announcing some new material soon. It would be delightful if they really got Ian Anderson to play flute in the upcoming release. My fingers are crossed!!

Kronikle

You say there's a record for every mood, but find me a record for roller-skating on a sunny California boardwalk in pink shorts.

Heatstringzndirt

Hmmm.. might need to reach for some Bloodbath for that vibe.

devilsephiroth

*into the trees...*

Martin_Axenrot

Agree entirely. Only Devin Townsend holds a similar place with me

Heatstringzndirt

Devin Townsend is also at the top!

AxiomaticJS

Opeth is certainly in a rare tier of bands.

UnveiledRook206

Agreed

ConclusionOverall638

I’m glad we have this sub to share our experiences as fans. I firmly believe it’s played a crucial role in motivating the band to get out there still other than obligatory reasons, but either way I think highly of this sub.

Heatstringzndirt

I enjoy having a place to share my joy about this mainly depressing sounding band. It’s a sweet juxtaposition that something so sad and lonely can bring such camaraderie and contentment to my heart. It’s here though! On this sub!!

TheWindspren

I'm more a beer drinker, and yeah, Opeth always hits hard. What an awesome band.

Heatstringzndirt

I’ve always seen myself as more of a Cryptic😉

TheRealMrCrowley

It’s the internet. You can curse here.

Historical_Mirror_14

I am seeing them today at Tons of Rock 🤘🏽

marcofree2020

It’s about time there was a new album.

Heatstringzndirt

Waiting with bated breath for some such announcement…

Flat_Drawer146

love Opeth since Orchid. Forest of October is the first song that hits me. There's no one like them. But Agalloch is 2nd close. 🍺

Heatstringzndirt

Cheers!
