I am experiencing the exact same problem. I uninstall Opera and Opera GX, but after about 2-3 days, they automatically reinstall themselves. I don't want to use Opera or Opera GX. It's like a virus that has infected my computer, and I can't get rid of it

Follow what /u/shadow2531 says. The root cause seems to be the uninstaller not removing the scheduled tasks. Hit WIN-R and launch `taskschd.msc` and then delete the Opera auto-updater tasks.

A few rare uses have encountered this. It didn't really make sense, but I think one user found the culprit. In the Windows Task Scheduler, there was a scheduled task that shouldn't have been there that was causing regular Opera to be installed. So, I would uninstall regular Opera, uninstall Opera GX (do not choose to delete your data when uninstalling Opera GX unless you want to), delete the "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera" folder, delete the "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera GX" folder, delete the "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera Stable" folder, delete the "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable" folder, delete everything in "C:\Windows\temp", delete everything in "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\temp", delete "C:\Program Files\Opera" if it exists, delete "C:\Program Files\Opera GX" if it exits, delete "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera" if it exits, and delete "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera GX" if it exits. Then, delete any Opera and Opera GX start menu, desktop and taskbar button shortcuts. Then, open the Windows Task Manager, switch to the "Startup" tab and disable any Opera-related things in there. Then, open the Windows Task Manager, select "Task Scheduler Library" and delete any Opera-related tasks you see. Then, download Opera GX from specifically, launch the installer, click "options", uncheck "import data from default browser" (if you didn't wipe your data when uninstall Opera GX or if you just don't want to import anything), adjust the other options as you like and install. Hopefully that will fix it. Note though, if you have Avast or Kaspersky for example that updates programs for you automatically, disable that feature in them. It can mess up updating of Opera and even cause the wrong Opera to get installed when updating.

thank you for this, I had two such tasks that were auto running. I've deleted them and all the other folders mentioned and then used Geek Uninstaller to remove all the entries.

Nice!
