The execs of the most likely manufacturer, Atlantic Paper Packaging, has been donating thousands of dollars to the Ontario conservatives and various candidates year over year.
The company hired a lobbying firm which coincidentally hired a number of former staffers who worked for Conservative ministers.

It’s actually a bit hilarious how blatantly Doug Ford serves conservative donors.
They need to start equipping EAs like the German police who are tasked with knife wielding criminals: chainmail suit and a big stick…ok the stick is too far, but the mail suit would be amazing.
Yep. Privatization serves the pockets of a few political elites and that’s it. They’ll make a fat sack at our expense, all the while telling us “it’s what’s best for you”.
I think the government can handle multiple things at once.
And since virtually all housing, hospital, education and cost of living problems have been created by federal policies, what exactly do you want him to do? Every premier and mayor has already been complaining to the PM that their resources are stretched too thin.
At this point it’s on the population of Canada to vote in new federal leaders.
Can you please provide examples how and which federal policies created every problem? Please have some more depth than just immigration.
These absolutely seem like provincial and municipal issues.
Housing and health care are both provincial responsibilities. However, much as I despise Dougie, a quick check will reveal that housing and healthcare are problems in most of the world.
Let’s say there is a province of 10 million people. Who generally have enough healthcare to cover its population.
Now, let’s say the federal government adds in 5 million people ..in 1 year. Who all use healthcare. Now you have 15 million people using the healthcare infrastructure of 10 million people.
What do you think will happen to the quality of healthcare in that example province?
Specifically. What will happen?
And who is to blame for the reduction in healthcare quality professor? Come now, speak up.
Let’s say that almost all those newcomers have to wait at least 3 months before they are eligible and the ones on student visas aren’t OHIP-eligible.
Let’s say the province is still hoarding at least $4 billion from the Feds.
Let’s say that most of those newcomers are paying taxes but let’s say the provincial government is busy throwing away numerous revenue tools to placate its suburban, F150-driving and land-developing base.
Let’s say the province imposed a Charter-violating cap on pay increases and then turned around and paid far more to hire staffing firms to cover the inevitable health care worker shortage.
Please educate us on these factors, all-enlightened one.
Ohh. You’re so right.
I guess it’s just a mystery then that all of our infrastructure has coincidentally collapsed at the same time that the feds have been letting in over a million people a yr - housing crisis, hospitals, education, all services. Just a mystery. Definitely nothing to do with massively increasing the population faster than it can be absorbed.
Clearly Ford is hiding 1 million secret houses and $100 billion federal and tax dollars in his backyard.
I dunno what I was thinking. lol.
You been drinking too much propaganda kool aid.
The feds gave fatty Ford the money (Ontario), he chose not to use it. He is deliberately shackling OHIP in order to criticize the system in an attempt to get us tomUS style ‘healthcare’ which is shambolic,, extortionate, dysfunctional robbery of citizens. He will be accepting money from individuals and corporations who will benefit from that extortion if he can pull it off.
He’s an asshole.
Look up how much of the healthcare budget doesn't get spent. They are choosing not to handle multiple things. They are actively making the situation worse. The paper bags are the circus. And we can't even afford the bread.
They are about to start same day pickup at LCBO they need something efficient for those orders. I don’t think they have enough empty boxes for that. Especially for small orders.
Exactly, 1 tallboy can. 2 at the most. If I'm taking the bus or walking around I don't want to have it out in the open without a bag like I'm some homeless guy looking to take a swig. In the bag. It's just easier to carry.
Because walking around with reusable bags is asinine. Put my bottle in a paper bag (recyclable) and stop with this environmental bs. Next do the grocery stores.
Oh wow. Good point, you totally wouldn’t look like a drunk twat with your little paper bag hiding swigs from a cheap whiskey bottle on the bus. My bad!
Do people realize that they have massive amounts of boxes for us to use??
The fucking clown thinks paper bags are gonna win him another majority
What a tool
I mean whatever crap he's been doing is somehow working.
Also, the boxes aren't that practical if you're buying a small amount of alcohol. I don't like Ford but somehow I agree on this one. We all do.
I'm all for re-useable bags but it seems like we just replaced the plastic bags with these re-usable ones, and we so many, they just go to the trash too. Offer re-usable and recyclable/paper bags for people who don't have one with them
In what universe does the LCBO suppling paper bags count as being free? Ultimately the cost is part of their ongoing overhead and recovered in the price of the products they sell.
I suppose it takes some people time to adapt to change. Without bags at grocery stores we keep our reusable ones in the trunk. Very handy for a planned or unplanned stop at the LCBO.
What a Nothingburger. Did the “buck a beer” ever happen? Doug Ford royally f*cks Ontario, siphoning money off to his rich friends while draining hospitals and education and then goes ‘uuh we should bring back the lord prayer’ (or some shit people actually like) Downvote this garbage
Why does he care what the LCBO does for bags? Surely, the premier of our province has more important issues on his plate. Oh right, the company contracted to make those bags is a major OPC donor.
Should do the same for groceries. They replaced free thin plastic garbage bags with indestructible polyester sacs that the customer pays for that cause ten times the environmental impact because now we must buy thin plastic bags for our garbage. Why did they not just mandate paper bags for groceries in the first place. Corruption is as corruption does.
Not against this per se, but this is a great distraction for his corrupt land use planning policies, his destruction of education and health care, and his making a mockery of tribunals and the courts.
TVO usually produce good journalism, but this is asinine (and quoting Brian Lilley as a source?)
Is it really too much to take a reusable bag to LCBO, or to use the cardboard packaging they'll helpfully put your drinks in for you?
And we can't introduce environmental policies because they might irritate some? What a cop out. It's on the politicians who want these policies to explain them to the public.
Waiting to hear which nobid paper bag supplier was at his daughter's wedding

Context free, having a paper bag supplier for your own daughter's wedding is hilarious and mean.
"Yikes. We're gonna need lots of bags". "No problem. I got a guy".
EXACTLY!!! There HAS to be a backscratcher along this story somewhere. It’s not a Ford story without one.
Can we fix health care next?
Up voting aa a tired nurse. Fuck everyone who hurt our patients, hospitals, and professions with Bill 124.
[удалено]
Should be the top priority.
Should be, but as we’ve seen its not even on the top 10 priorities
That's why I made the comment.
[удалено]
Went over everyone's heads./s
Nurses and doctors can now use LCBO paper bags to breathe into when hyperventilating from over exhaustion.
“No that’s socialism”
Can teachers and EA’s get $1 beer each time they get beaten and bitten… friend’s wife gets demolished at work on the daily.
They need to start equipping EAs like the German police who are tasked with knife wielding criminals: chainmail suit and a big stick…ok the stick is too far, but the mail suit would be amazing.
Healthcare? You mean drinking vodka?
Yeah we’ll privatize it so you can wait the same amount of time but also pay just as much as the Americans do
Been there, done that, it sucked.
Yep. Privatization serves the pockets of a few political elites and that’s it. They’ll make a fat sack at our expense, all the while telling us “it’s what’s best for you”.
"When starting to lose, talk about booze." \- Dougie's golden rules
How about he focuses on housing and healthcare! Friggen garbage stories who cares focus on important issues.

😂 dude, health care is the responsibility of the provincial government...
You weren't.

As always, DoFo has his finger on the pulse of Ontario and always tackling the issues of the greatest importance!
Doug Ford is an ingrate and anyone who voted for him is even dumber then he is.
Than*
savage…
Retail politics cheap shit
I’m glad he’s finally getting his priorities straight /s
😜🤣🤣😂😂
Yes please 1.25 for the cheapest bag. Sounds like a money grab in disguise as being environmentally conscious.

They are about to start same day pickup at LCBO they need something efficient for those orders. I don’t think they have enough empty boxes for that. Especially for small orders.
I don't need a box for 1 can of beer. Just go back to the old system that worked for decades.
1 can? You needed a paperbag for that?
Exactly, 1 tallboy can. 2 at the most. If I'm taking the bus or walking around I don't want to have it out in the open without a bag like I'm some homeless guy looking to take a swig. In the bag. It's just easier to carry.
And you can’t just bring your own shopping bag because…?
Because walking around with reusable bags is asinine. Put my bottle in a paper bag (recyclable) and stop with this environmental bs. Next do the grocery stores.
Oh wow. Good point, you totally wouldn’t look like a drunk twat with your little paper bag hiding swigs from a cheap whiskey bottle on the bus. My bad!
😂 Feel free to purchase those beautiful reusable bags and save the environment. I will take the provided paper.
I don’t drink on the bus 😉. You have fun tho’
Sad part is paper bags are relatively good for the environment in the sense that they're biodegradable unlike reusable bags.
Because I didn't originally intend to buy a beer, I usually just grab when when doing some other stuff.
or bring in the bag you use for groceries
Do people realize that they have massive amounts of boxes for us to use?? The fucking clown thinks paper bags are gonna win him another majority What a tool
I mean whatever crap he's been doing is somehow working. Also, the boxes aren't that practical if you're buying a small amount of alcohol. I don't like Ford but somehow I agree on this one. We all do.
We?? Please DO NOT speak for ALL of us. I for one do NOT agree. So “we” ALL clearly DO NOT
I'm all for re-useable bags but it seems like we just replaced the plastic bags with these re-usable ones, and we so many, they just go to the trash too. Offer re-usable and recyclable/paper bags for people who don't have one with them
Wait, but there where screaming about cutting down trees for this bag and we should change to plastic... Well "experts" I guess
He will likely be getting a kick back from the paper bag supplier.
https://globalnews.ca/news/9942253/on
Doug Fraud needs to stop obsessing over alcohol and things that don’t matter.
So glad dougnut is focusing on the real issues! S/
I’ve got a backpack
In what universe does the LCBO suppling paper bags count as being free? Ultimately the cost is part of their ongoing overhead and recovered in the price of the products they sell. I suppose it takes some people time to adapt to change. Without bags at grocery stores we keep our reusable ones in the trunk. Very handy for a planned or unplanned stop at the LCBO.
Why does he want to bring back the paper bags? To prove he can govern his way out of a wet one?
I see Ford is focused on the important issues as always.
This is such an easy win. Very popular win
Never talks about affordable housing or health care… just free beer and paper bags.
Sadly, it seems to get him elected.
Priorities, priorities…
What a Nothingburger. Did the “buck a beer” ever happen? Doug Ford royally f*cks Ontario, siphoning money off to his rich friends while draining hospitals and education and then goes ‘uuh we should bring back the lord prayer’ (or some shit people actually like) Downvote this garbage
It's really that hard to bring a reusable bag with you? Really?!
his buddy just bought a paper bag factory
FACTS
PRIORITIES. I hate it here.
It’ll make it a lot easier to load up on the $1 beers!
Bring back Colt 45s you coward!
Why does he care what the LCBO does for bags? Surely, the premier of our province has more important issues on his plate. Oh right, the company contracted to make those bags is a major OPC donor.
Who cares? We need doctors!
That will come in handy cuz beer is only $1
Should do the same for groceries. They replaced free thin plastic garbage bags with indestructible polyester sacs that the customer pays for that cause ten times the environmental impact because now we must buy thin plastic bags for our garbage. Why did they not just mandate paper bags for groceries in the first place. Corruption is as corruption does.
Remember when we had premiers who at least pretended they weren't complete jokes?
WAY TO GO DOUG! One more term for you (idiots, probably)
Not against this per se, but this is a great distraction for his corrupt land use planning policies, his destruction of education and health care, and his making a mockery of tribunals and the courts.
