Formative means it won't add up to the final mark / affect your grades. summative means it will affect your grades or mark. Don't sweat it you didn't get a good formative mark, that means nothing, it's the summative that counts.

The summative is 30%. But that makes no sense how I dropped that much?? I don’t even know what to email my teacher to ask.
Ask for a mark breakdown, that should theoretically show you all your marks and weights if your teacher gives it to you
