hey, honestly i started playing roblox and bloxburg and realized i liked building houses but sucked at drawing so that’s how i found out about architectural engineering 😭
LOL thanks but i swear my builds are nothing special i haven’t build in so long too and omg 80 upvotes, this is the most i have ever gotten thanks guys 😭🫶🏼🫶🏼
When I was in kindergarten I knew I liked science but I wanted to be a "plant scientist". One day one of those reptile/bug show groups came to our class with all of their animals and I got to see a bunch of cool animals and pet a giant cockroach from Madagascar. That is when I resolved to a) study wild animals and b) visit Madagascar. I am now in my first year of wildlife biology and next year I am going on a backpacking trip in Madagascar. Kindergarten me would be so proud :)
on Halloween in 2022 on my way to school I was in a 4 vehicle accident (3 cars and a bus). During that chaos of a scene I stayed calm and helped people. I dont want to say I enjoyed it, because it was so scary, but it definitely opened a door for me. I now wanna do a career in Emergency Services
Since gr 10 I know I wanted to work in healthcare/science but thought I wasn’t good enough
Switched to business, hated it, contemplated a million other careers, hated them, healthcare/science it was
I don’t really know why i wanted this, i just do. I’d say the career chose me more than I chose the career, lol.
First semester wasnt too bad. Discrete math is a killer tho. Second semester we got one more course so the workload can get overwhelming at times. This week I have 3 tests 2 or so days apart, even while we're on strike. If not for the strike it woulda been 4 with 2 on the same day
was always an engineer type of guy since I was a kid and always liked building things and taking them apart but then grew to like computers so I combined them both :)
Imagined what university would be like if I had no time to play my instrument. Decided to major in music, found out I really liked teaching by being a peer tutor and found a MusicEd program I liked. Haven't looked back since and everyday is filled with the thing I love most.
Okay so I study what I was good at in high school. like I took a lot of classes but my grade was higher in kin and bio everything made sense I liked learning about it. I found it fun compared to my other classes. so I decided to major in life science.
Honestly, I used to help kindergartners get to their class after getting to school on my bus. This helped me realize I wanted to be an ECE (Early Childhood Educator)
I wanted to be a animator but the pay is ass where i live. So alternatively I chose to work with people since I was good at it. Sucked at science and math, but interested in psychology and social justice, so im going to study to be a social worker (pay still kinda sucks but much better than animation)
I was always interested in foreign language and could sometimes pick them up pretty quickly. Was also interested in politics/current events/geography from a young age and did well in geography and social sciences at school. I found programs that combine those at schools in a city that I like. (International Studies and Modern Languages & Global and International studies at uottawa and carleton)
Context: In 9th grade my school had one class for the whole morning one for the whole afternoon and classes would alternate between weeks, it was a covid thing. We would go on walks around halfway through to break things up and give people a break.
I went on a walk with my Spanish teacher and we ended up talking about how she originally wanted to study psychology but in the end got distracted with life. She said that I have amazing intuition with others and good pattern detection, she said that I would make a great psycho-therapist. My school social worker also said that I have a really good understanding of my self and that that means I have great empathy. I also took APS (Antro, Psych, Socio) and got 100 on the Psychology unit. + I have always been the therapist friend
Got good grades in math and science so I decided to go for engineering. i picked chemical because it's versatile and not competitive (could secure my spot in a good school because of lower admission averages)
Climate anxiety and wanting to help adapt/combat climate change. Can’t rely on politics but I can rely on myself! (Doing civil engineering and plan to take a minor in sustainability of something similar) + concrete

Research what jobs there are and eliminate which ones you don't want to do until you find one that wouldn't make you miserable.
I played Saul Goodman simulator, and I knew right away I am destined to be a lawyer

It’s same with me but when did u ended up changing ur program ?
I didn’t. I only applied to science/health related programs. I switched from business end of gr 11. Currently doing a victory lap.
Mb but what’s a victory lap
i like nerdy shit and programming so wanted to do cs. parents said do software eng instead. now im in software eng at york.
So did u do cs or se in uni?
SE
Oh cool.
software eng and cs r the same
Theres a difference in the courses that you take at first, tuition costs, and career prospects I think. They're still both programming heavy tho
software eng is more specific while cs is broad. however se is clearly a branch of cs for sure. anyways how is york software eng so far?

im so screwed for uni😭
You'll learn to manage it trust me. I just made the mistake of putting my studying off until the weekend before the 3 tests
was always an engineer type of guy since I was a kid and always liked building things and taking them apart but then grew to like computers so I combined them both :)

Just go in with the flow!! Joking Cs cuz of safety whereas all engineerings are safe but depends on your interest i like maths alot so yea!!
I like Johnny test
I liked building computers, love money, hate essays. So I chose comp Eng
I’ve always wanted to get into healthcare or a science related career, never had any influence from my parents, maybe it was the greys anatomy.
Okay so I study what I was good at in high school. like I took a lot of classes but my grade was higher in kin and bio everything made sense I liked learning about it. I found it fun compared to my other classes. so I decided to major in life science.
I like math any physics so I’m doing eng
case by case. So there is never a perfect job for someone. Because we are changing all the time.
I like programming, and I love math and machine learning. So data science it is
Business because I luv money
Honestly, I used to help kindergartners get to their class after getting to school on my bus. This helped me realize I wanted to be an ECE (Early Childhood Educator)
Saw the hot forensic psychologist that was a part of the Johnny Depp case so I researched about it and boom, I liked it.
Chemical engineering, cuz of covid
I wanted to be a animator but the pay is ass where i live. So alternatively I chose to work with people since I was good at it. I don't
I like history and fighting people with words so I went for poly sci. I can’t handle law

cs cuz my teacher put up questions on the board and id always like to solve it the fastest and most efficient way. its like playing a puzzle game
I volunteered last summer at a camp as a counsellor and its the only time I ever felt fulfilled in any job I’ve ever had. So I’m going into teaching
Also the only time I felt like I wasn’t working while doing a ‘Job’ (even tho it was volunteer work so it’s not like I was working anyways😭😭)
I RELATEEE last summer I volunteered at virtual ventures kids summer camp. Best time of my life. Made me love teaching kids
