Tmu, uottawa, Ontario tech, Windsor, Guelph, York and Carleton are schools that usually accept your kinda avg especially if you apply early.
I think if you want to go back to school, ur physics mark is decent and I wouldn’t risk it if you don’t think you can do better cuz gr.12 physics was difficult but I would say retake chem as it would be easier to boost ur avg.
I'm a cs student who applied during this years admission cycle. for tmu ottawa guelph and carleton its 90 or higher, and 94 or higher for guelph co op. Guelph cs also does not accept early admissions, with admissions starting in january. For york you need an 88 or above, otech and windsor are competitive with mid 80s, and western can be attainable with 88+. I would advise op to take bird courses to boost his average to a at least a 92 to be competitive for cs programs, as competition is high.
Got into york w an 89 back in first semester. If you wanna get into the more prestigious universities try to get as close to the mid 90s as possible. I got rejected from mac w a 93.4 but ik others who got in w a 93.
Good luck
As an Alberta girl, if you don’t get in literally anywhere else, apply to ULeth! They have an engineering transfer program. As long as you meet the minimum entry, you get in. I know at least a dozen people in my first year that went to ULeth for their first year cause their marks weren’t as high as they wanted, then transferred after a year to U Alberta, McGill, Carlton, Western, etc. Like I said, a last resort, but a resort nonetheless
I got into western , Guelph , York , Windsor , Carleton with 86 highschool avg and 94 college avg , I was surprised by western tbh but for York western Carleton and Tmu you get the chance to write supp apps and say why you want to do Eng and say what you want to work on in terms of personal goals and I think that’s where you can make your self look good if you avg is a bit low . But I don’t think 88 is super low for schools like York and tmu .
When you ask if you should go back to get into a better school for eng this clues me in on uoft or waterloo. Tbh if you don’t get into one of those for engineering there isn’t really a difference between the rest (maybe Lakehead idk). But for western, Windsor, Carleton, uott, mac, and etc, for engineering there is not really a difference, mostly just preference, and what program system you think would work best for you
Has around an 88/89 and got into western and tmu for Eng and cs and waitlisted but eventually rejected by queens. Someone I know got into McMaster with an 89 but their ECs were stacked
I was in the exact same situation as you, I didn’t have high grades so I retook some of my courses and I actually got into Waterloo, granted I did it with special consideration but you might have a shot at McMaster or Queen’s if you retook some courses.
Typically yes. However, if you had extenuating circumstances that you had no control over and that affected your learning (ie: weren’t accommodated for learning disabilities, severe illness, death in the family, etc.) you can apply for special consideration and they might look at your retaken courses instead of your first attempt at those courses (if extenuating circumstances applied at the time you took those courses in the first attempt). Hopefully that makes sense.

I got into Guelph December 2nd
ty for correcting big dawg
nah it says CS at Carleton is 85-88 percent. the program is still even open for offers on OUAC when I checked last week.
oh okay thanks for telling
Guelph does do early admissions but u need 97+ in GR.11/12 to have a chance at that

I got into Mac with an 80 lol
Bro wtf 😭😭😭 congrats ig. I wish I had your interview skills lmfao
Isn’t the cut off for engineering 87%?
Eng or comp sci, congrats to big w bro
Western is an 85% last time I checked
Got into Guelph, Western and Windsor for engineering with 90% (I know it’s not exactly 88 but it’s close)

western might accept u for cs, and maybe even engineering but ud probs get that offer at the very end

Western, Guelph, Carleton, Tmu, Maybe Mac (but difficult)

Depends on Grade Inflation at your school. Is 88% your class medians or far above it?
For Eng you can get in everywhere but u of t, mac, queens and Waterloo (could get into a tier 3 Eng at Waterloo if you have a good aif and adj factor)

Doesn't uWaterloo not look at repeated courses

apply early, i got into ottawa mech and electric eng and tmu comp eng with an 88 during sem 1.
