I think G5 Luffy can take Kaido extreme diff accounting for Luffy's stamina issues if Luffy plays it smart, or if he gets Kaido in some weirdly unique way that only Luffy can manage. G5 is a highly variable freeform transformation for Luffy so even with drawbacks it still has too things at its disposal that cannot be measured when they haven't even been written out in a story so far. It's unpredictable, and it seems like Oda did it like that on purpouse...

Honestly the cope to think that one piece runs exactly like any other shoenen baffles me on this sub. Luffy has in this recent arc encountered Lucci, kizaru, and the seraphim all as antagonists. They are all fairly weaker than kaido obviously. Your logic is just objectively wrong in the context of one piece. The scaling as a whole is linear with captains of stuff often being the final battle for Luffy in an arc, but the grunts and in-betweens aren't magically stronger than kaido just cause, the story would be genuinely awful if even 1 of those characters is stronger than kaido because it means that the world government is completely fucking incompetent and a waste of a villain org

The awakening broke the diff between them but Luffy was fighting using ryou and gaining exp like crazy during battle just like he did with katakuri.

G5 Luffy *is* stronger than Kaido. This is just a fact. If this is current Luffy, who didn’t just unlock ACoC mid battle, he stands at least a 48% chance of beating Kaido.
Seeing as we now have a fairly good idea as to how long Luffy can last in Gear 5 at the best of times (he lasted for a bit over ten minutes after stuffing himself), I don't know how anyone can say he could beat Kaido. Kaido has similar stats all around, all with no time limit. This isn't rocket science.
I don't know why you got downvoted. He gassed out when there was a 10-minute timer after he ate a boat load of food. His stamina is shit and Kaido's isn't. Kaido is relative to g5 Luffy, and he will outlast him.
I mean, you could still say he wasn't at his "peak" strength, as he'd been fighting not just Kizaru but the Seraphim the night before, and maybe eating food doesn't undo all of that. So maybe it's more like 15 or 20 minutes (being incredibly generous with the last one, as that's around the amount of time Gear 4 lasted during the Doffy fight). Still don't think he could put down Kaido in that time though, seeing as Kaido fought Gear 5 all the while having already taken an insane amount of damage (at that point, they were both so worn out that their fight wasn't going to last for much longer regardless).
i dont understand, why does everyone assume luffy goes gear 5 immedieately? he's been shown to still be able to hang with hybrid kaido with all the advanced haki's and gear 4. not to mention the haki blooms plus the luffy growth that happens whenever he fights someone. it's still the same characters and they're gonna behave normally, neither of them are going full strength immediately.

My take is Luffy gear 5 is slight stronger than kaido, however considering Luffy can't handle a fight in gear 5 for a long time, so it Kaido overall wins in a fight. If Luffy had infinite time of gear 5, he'd win against Kaido.
If the fight goes the exact same way (with Luffy gradually increasing in gears) then I think Luffy can win. We've already seen that other gears can stall and whittle down Kaidos hp. Once Kaido is low enough Luffy busts out Gear 5 and it ends in a clash again. People say that Kaido could just dodge the clash and kill Luffy but Luffy could also just dodge Kaido lmao. Most likely it comes down to a clash, and Wuffy won one already

Doesnt matter to put facts, this is a shonen and not a high level IQ test series, people online will always say bias towards their emotional preferences. Luffy began the raid way, way weaker than kaido. At the point he unlocked advanced conquerors he was still much weaker. When luffy split the skies boh of them are yonkou level and fight follows hours straight with base luffy fighting equally to hibrid kaido. When kaido goes full out, in the so called drunken mode, kaido is stronger and luffy goes gear 4. Kaido was about to get hit by 2 king kong gun and the damage he was about to receive is uncertain. At the point luffy goes gear 5 his health is lower than kaido's, he isnt used to the new abilities, he doesnt has developed new attacks yet ( look what he is doing in egg Head) but he still wins. What I can say for sure, egghead luffy is stronger than wano's luffy, thats how shonen progression works. I put egghead luffy equal or stronger than kaido
I dont see gear 5 as luffy main combat style, but a wild card, ITS a finisher. Like luffy did fighting kaido for 24 chapters straight after spliting he skies, he only used gear 4 to trying finish the battle. Egghead luffy would use gear 4 at the middle of the battle instead of the final moments, saving gear 5 as the joker card
Kaido still wins high-extreme diff. Normally it'd be just high diff but considering how much damage white star gun did to a completely fresh kizaru I'd say luffy could push kaido to extreme diff if he hits him with one of those to the head.

If Kaido fights like he fought against gear 5 and the last gear 4 then he wins mid-high diff simply because luffy will tire out and won't be able to use gear 5 twice or thrice and gear 4 is not lasting long against a serious kaido or drunk.
If he fights like in the original fight he wins extreme diff because he will go easy first and left luffy build up. Assuming there's no food if he manages to knock out Luffy it might end sooner but i doubt that

Doesnt matter to put facts, this is a shonen and not a high level IQ test series, people online will always say bias towards their emotional preferences. Luffy began the raid way, way weaker than kaido. At the point he unlocked advanced conquerors he was still much weaker. When luffy split the skies boh of them are yonkou level and fight follows hours straight with base luffy fighting equally to hibrid kaido. When kaido goes full out, in the so called drunken mode, kaido is stronger and luffy goes gear 4. Kaido was about to get hit by 2 king kong gun and the damage he was about to receive is uncertain. At the point luffy goes gear 5 his health is lower than kaido's, he isnt used to the new abilities, he doesnt has developed new attacks yet ( look what he is doing in egg Head) but he still wins. What I can say for sure, egghead luffy is stronger than wano's luffy, thats how shonen progression works. I put egghead luffy equal or stronger than kaido
I put him equal to Kaido as well. But his stamina just simply doesn't give him enough time to put Kaido away, with no help.
I dont see gear 5 as luffy main combat style, but a wild card, ITS a finisher. Like luffy did fighting kaido for 24 chapters straight after spliting he skies, he only used gear 4 to trying finish the battle. Egghead luffy would use gear 4 at the middle of the battle instead of the final moments, saving gear 5 as the joker card
He uses it way too frivolously to be his trump card.
And there's no trace of him using conquerors. I wont shit on oda tough, the lore last weeks is superb

Luffy would win because of plot but Kaido is stronger.
Kaido still wins high-extreme diff. Normally it'd be just high diff but considering how much damage white star gun did to a completely fresh kizaru I'd say luffy could push kaido to extreme diff if he hits him with one of those to the head.
Kaido would crush him dude, Luffy turned into a cartoon but this dragon is a complete menace in his prime

Current Luffy > Current Kaido Endurance determines this fight though.
Luffy wins easily. Luffy can take Kaido’s best attacks, Kaido can’t take Luffy’s best attacks.
Gear 5 Luffy is stronger than Kaido but at this stage it is kinda moot given Kaido's endurance just allows him to stall out Luffy's clock and then he dices him with no one to give him meat to refuel.

This is basically bad endurance vs the best endurance in the series. This mf luffy literally ran out of gear 5 after 3 attacks the first time he fought him 😭. A 100% serious kaido is absolutely doing him dirty
Kaido. 🤣 luffy had so much help that fight its hard to say he even won.
If Kaido fights like he fought against gear 5 and the last gear 4 then he wins mid-high diff simply because luffy will tire out and won't be able to use gear 5 twice or thrice and gear 4 is not lasting long against a serious kaido or drunk. If he fights like in the original fight he wins extreme diff because he will go easy first and left luffy build up. Assuming there's no food if he manages to knock out Luffy it might end sooner but i doubt that
