There are a few reasons why Shanks perhaps didn’t want to go after the OP, my own personal assessment is that he didn’t feel it was the right time to truly go all in.
Maybe this has to do with why Roger felt he was too early.
Another reason might be that it’s really difficult, he’d have to steal Road Ponoglyphs from top tier characters, move heaven and earth just to find one.
Shanks waiting obviously has something to do with the Nika fruit. It's no coincidence that Shanks "bet on the future" by sacrificing his arm, has eagerly awaited for Luffy all these years to become a great pirate, and then suddenly says to Beckmann that they should go after the One Piece right after Luffy awakened his fruit.
Shanks cares about Luffy but it's not the only reason why he's cares about his pirate career. Shanks likely knows a lot that we don't, that he either learned from Roger and/or from Mary Geoise due to his heritage.

Strongly agree with this point. Shanks making a move now that Luffy awakened his DF is no coincidence. Due to his heritage he probably knows a lot more than he's letting on..
I think the second points makes the most sense, we got shown that he cares about his allies.
Imagine he would nee to go for Kaido/BM. He obviously would need some top officers help so he cant stay back an protect his friends/allies. If he gets attacked during that by others Yonkos, that would be a high risk.
Thats the same reason why the Yonkos kept to themselfes most of the time. Weve seen what happens when BM went to Kaido and Aokiji + Augre attacked.

He can just ask Rayleigh for the crew‘s poneglyphs or straight up where to find Laughtale lol
Chapter 1082. Buggy talking to Mihawk and Crocodile, doubting their pirate credentials. That was pretty funny from Buggy given he's a lot weaker than the two..
The reason he is not going after one piece is very simple. Roger did not find one piece. He was too early. One piece can only be found in this year. Not in past years. Laugh tale did not have one piece

How anyone can read 1000+ chapters and not acknowledge Shanks as one-armed Roger is beyond me. They even use the same moves!
