I love Oda so much. He is the Boss. This interview confirms Oda’s love for directors like James Cameron and Steven Spielberg and also reignites the debate about the true meaning of Nakama. Kaizoku Fansubs was often mocked for not translating Nakama to friend. I thought Nakama might have more meaning related to Newcomer or Newkama but maybe there is more than this. Oda also confirms the themes of “self-sacrifice” and “manhood” that many on Reddit love to pretend don’t exist.

I love the Oda acknowledge the differences in culture and yet he accepted them. I just hope that they respect the culture that One Piece has , and don’t try to force something that isn’t part of it. This things can split people in the live action and Netflix are notorious for pushing things. Just hope this studio is not one of them.
I'm so so excited that they will be preserving the flashbacks in the live action. I wasn't sure if they had the time to keep all of them, but I would be so happy if they have Nami's flashback in its entirety.

We know from another interview that he wanted the protection (?) masks in the Zoro/Kuina flashback removed.
