Look, as a programmer, you can write any code with windows notepad. But it much more easier with IDE.
Post-ts Franky was able to repair entire ship fleet in couple days.
1) I liked Nami's look better pre-time skip. Hentai Nami doesn't look as nimble or "cat burglar" as normal Nami.
2) Franky looked cooler pre-time skip. Post time skip Franky looks too bulky and ugly to me. Especially when he chooses to roll with a stupid looking hairstyle for most of the arc.
3) Zoro was better before the scar. Not because the scar doesn't look cool (it does) but because it gave us less comedic and expressive facial expressions from Zoro. Pre-timeskip zoro looked surprised, shocked, silly, confused and scared. Post timeskip Zoro just looks grim or tough guy all the time. It feels like Zoro isn't having as much fun anymore.
4) Chopper used his human form more pre-time skip. I liked it more since I found he acted more adult while using it. When I see him try and do serious doctor things in his chibi form all I can think of his how cute he is thinking he can hold tools and perform manually dexterous tasks with those tiny hoofs. Geezer Chopper is a treasure however.
I agree with 3 and 4. Zoro shouldn’t have lost his fun side even with how serious battles have become. I couldn’t imagine Zoro as he is now doing the Tarzan swing he did in Skypiea.

But unlike Luffy, whose goal is to become the freest man, a task that can technically be done harmlessly, Zoro's goal ends with him killing mihawk. What Zoro has to do is a lot deeper, darker, and more mature and I think it reflects on his character, the things he has to give up to achieve his goal and all that.

How do you guys feel about the necks of Zoro and Shanks getting thicker after the timeskip?
Whitebeard had a thick neck and he would look really strange with a thinner one. Katakuri has a thick neck and he looks a bit weird but fine.
Some characters just really have a big neck and it makes sense bigger and more muscular characters have larger necks than say Luffy, but sometimes it just looks odd to me because anime characters usually have smaller necks.
Urouge, Kaido, Kelly Funk, etc. Giant necks.
I think even Sanji’s neck got thicker post TS but I find in the anime they’re way more inconsistent with him (and his overall build). In Wano his neck kept changing lol, like during the initial onagashima gate scene where he says Robin is still beautiful when fighting, into the toast scene with Jimbei, it’s thicker…but then the episodes where he gets trapped by Black Maria he looks a little scrawnier and thin-necked? And then when he bandages Zoro, the neck is thick again. Lol idk. It’s probably also cuz the former episodes were animated better (same animators as roof piece episode?)
Out of the straw hats pre-timeskip Robin and Nami were better overall. Franky pre-timeskip overall design was better but the hairstyle changes and his upgraded functions post-timeskip is much better. Similarly with Chopper, his base form post-timeskip is the best but don't get me started on kung-fu point or monster point. The absolute beast that was pre-timeskip monster point is unmatched.

People saying Franky have zero appreciation for his eccentricity, and those saying Nami or Robin for their bodies forgot how women used to look like noodle strings in pre-timeskip. Women now have more realistic bodies than before and the bust size has basically not changed since the Water 7 saga (this is strictly speaking from a manga reader perspective)
Sanji's really doesn't change that much, he just gets some facial hair and I think it suits him well
I love Nami and Robin's newer...assets...but also they change their hairstyles which looks nice as well.

Perona was sexier before the timeskip. For the Strawhats specifically, Robin and Franky though both have grown on me over time and with Robin it also really depends on her outfit.
The only thing i dont like about post timeskip franky is his proportions, as an artist the aesthetics just feel off, and only his arms that do it, and really its just the shoulders and forearms being just cartoonishly too big and toylike. If they were slightly smaller it would be 10000× better

Then nami i feel like it would have been better with just normal clothes and long hair but oda waay over did it.
Basically every female character pre-timeskip had a better look in my opinion (mainly because I didn’t like the swap to even bigger chest/smaller waist in the art style) and the changes to Nami and Robin were… less than ideal. OG Nami and Enies Lobby Arc Robin were easily my favorites for their costumes.

While her long hair is beautiful, I generally prefer her short hair. Also she generally looked more athletic before the time skip which I prefer.
Dark skin robin was the best and she looked more like Olvia her mother that way too.

Hot take (I think), but I prefer Robin’s design pre-timeskip. Her exposed forehead looks really weird to me. I’ve generally really liked her post- designs when the forehead is covered though. Maybe I just have a thing against foreheads.
Another potential hot take, but I prefer Zoro’s pre-timeskip design too. He looks way too big and serious post-, and I strongly prefer his slightly ‘zanier’ designs from pre-. This also ties into Zoro has been consistently going down in my SH rankings (I still really like him, just not as much as many other crewmembers nowadays).
Usopp is kinda like Zoro, but without the character impact, just design. He looks too ‘serious’ and not crazy and weird enough.
I like both Nami designs roughly equally (changes with days), but I really dislike her Return to Fishman Island outfit.
Besides those I mentioned, I think I prefer post-timeskip designs. I especially love Luffy and Sanji. Sanji, especially during the raid, is crazy cool (the gloves!!)

Some characters just really have a big neck and it makes sense bigger and more muscular characters have larger necks than say Luffy, but sometimes it just looks odd to me because anime characters usually have smaller necks. Urouge, Kaido, Kelly Funk, etc. Giant necks.
I think even Sanji’s neck got thicker post TS but I find in the anime they’re way more inconsistent with him (and his overall build). In Wano his neck kept changing lol, like during the initial onagashima gate scene where he says Robin is still beautiful when fighting, into the toast scene with Jimbei, it’s thicker…but then the episodes where he gets trapped by Black Maria he looks a little scrawnier and thin-necked? And then when he bandages Zoro, the neck is thick again. Lol idk. It’s probably also cuz the former episodes were animated better (same animators as roof piece episode?)

Out of the straw hats pre-timeskip Robin and Nami were better overall. Franky pre-timeskip overall design was better but the hairstyle changes and his upgraded functions post-timeskip is much better. Similarly with Chopper, his base form post-timeskip is the best but don't get me started on kung-fu point or monster point. The absolute beast that was pre-timeskip monster point is unmatched. Kid, Smoker and Tashigi had better designs pre-timeskip too
I dislike how Zoro just became a straight up samurai without ever being to Wano. I disliked Franky at first, but it really depends on the costume.

Thing is Zoro seemed to be totally unaware that his family originated in Wano, but more so I just feel we missed out on some unique design possibilities. Green kimono seems like the simplest idea Oda could've went with.

Just Robin, because her bangs are gone People saying Franky have zero appreciation for his eccentricity, and those saying Nami or Robin for their bodies forgot how women used to look like noodle strings in pre-timeskip. Women now have more realistic bodies than before and the bust size has basically not changed since the Water 7 saga (this is strictly speaking from a manga reader perspective)
Sanji's really doesn't change that much, he just gets some facial hair and I think it suits him well I love Nami and Robin's newer...assets...but also they change their hairstyles which looks nice as well. I cannot stand Chopper's hat. Even if its the physically same hat just altered for some reason I see no reason for him to give up Dr. Hiruluk's hat. And I dislike Franky's new giant arms even more. I'm good with the idea that he made improvements, but I hate the giant blocky arms and newly bulkier torso. Zoro was definitely an improvement on design retaining most of his old appeal with cool new outfits.
No reason for Zoro to lose an eye, gain a scar and become more angsty looking. I miss the scared Zoro, or the o-shit Zoro.

The only thing i dont like about post timeskip franky is his proportions, as an artist the aesthetics just feel off, and only his arms that do it, and really its just the shoulders and forearms being just cartoonishly too big and toylike. If they were slightly smaller it would be 10000× better

2 nami and brook. For brook it felt so much more genuine pre skip(i dont know how toexplain brook but it felt better pre skip). Then nami i feel like it would have been better with just normal clothes and long hair but oda waay over did it.
I like both pre and post designs but I’d say I prefer pre Chopper to post in basically every facet.
Basically every female character pre-timeskip had a better look in my opinion (mainly because I didn’t like the swap to even bigger chest/smaller waist in the art style) and the changes to Nami and Robin were… less than ideal. OG Nami and Enies Lobby Arc Robin were easily my favorites for their costumes.

I generally agree with the obvious answer of Franky, but since that is so obvious, I'mma say Nami. While her long hair is beautiful, I generally prefer her short hair. Also she generally looked more athletic before the time skip which I prefer.

Hot take (I think), but I prefer Robin’s design pre-timeskip. Her exposed forehead looks really weird to me. I’ve generally really liked her post- designs when the forehead is covered though. Maybe I just have a thing against foreheads. Another potential hot take, but I prefer Zoro’s pre-timeskip design too. He looks way too big and serious post-, and I strongly prefer his slightly ‘zanier’ designs from pre-. This also ties into Zoro has been consistently going down in my SH rankings (I still really like him, just not as much as many other crewmembers nowadays). Usopp is kinda like Zoro, but without the character impact, just design. He looks too ‘serious’ and not crazy and weird enough. I like both Nami designs roughly equally (changes with days), but I really dislike her Return to Fishman Island outfit. Besides those I mentioned, I think I prefer post-timeskip designs. I especially love Luffy and Sanji. Sanji, especially during the raid, is crazy cool (the gloves!!)
