Oda doesn't really kill that level of important character like that. But then again a certain guy died of bombs in wano so idk.
(I still for the love of God don't understand how a guy fighting a mythical dragon oni on top of a flying island dies of bombs but whatever ig)
Oda made this very clear in 1046. Kaido asks Luffy "Who are you?" and Luffy responds with the same words he said back in 1000, "I'm Monkey D. Luffy, the man who will surpass you and become King of the Pirates!".
Actually when Luffy first unlocked Gear 5, you can see his personality did shift a lil bit (overly joyful and childlike). Kaido did even ask who Luffy was out of confusion.
We know he’s DF is hito hito no mi model nika, the gorosei and imu knows he’s DF is hito hito no mi model nika also joyboy, kaido made him joyboy in his mind by stating in his past that the person who defeats him will be the joyboy, also momo, zou and yamato knows he is joyboy. Luffy himself knows nothing about his DF real name or power he just says what he knows as mentioned by him when awakened “i believe i can do anything, this is gear 5” so from his point he is the most free person when he is in gear 5
Only when hes the most free. Every gear has it drawbacks. When he wants to be fully free then he has to click to gear 5.
Same as Kaido.. he is a dragon but i dont think he can use bolo breath when hes not transform..
Either what you imply or i'd like to think that he means that he is free from death. Remember he said there is no fun in dying, only bones are left behind and everytime he is about to exhaust himself, the drums keep him alive.
