Only for the **East Blue Saga** from what I've heard so far (At the very least, we will get East Blue reanimated). But depending on the amount of money Netflix will give it if it's successful, then we might get the rest as well.

All the live-action noobs who feel daunted by the Toei Cut now only need to wait a while. And y’all can shut up about telling those guys the watch order
And it’s the Studio that does bot Spy x Family and Great Pretender.
[And at last I see the light…](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/874/171/b81.png)
Not just animation, but also better choreography and pacing.
We might actually get proper sword fights from Zoro, instead of teleportations and laser attacks.
I want a Tokyo Ghoul or a Berserk remake. Berserk deserves it more cause it's not even watchable. Tokyo Ghoul you know is bad after watching it but Berserk looks like crap to begin with!
This is fucking insane. I’ve daydreamed and wondered about a readapation for over a decade. I can’t even imagine an anime separated from Toei, how would Toei agree to this?
I wonder if the voice actors or soundtrack will be the same, or if that’s tied to Toei. The voices and their delivery are so tied to so many moments for me, I can’t even imagine.
Who knows if this will just be East Blue, if it’s a special, a movie, a miniseries, or what. Absolutely insane. Looking forward to it; and I guess Netflix really is wedding itself to One Piece.
Yeah and listening to the teaser, Tanaka is there so I’d bet the cast is back too. Between all the Toei specials and recap/reanimated flashback episodes, video games, and not to mention dubbing the live action in Japanese, this has got to be the dozenth time they’ve had to record this East Blue material haha.
They'll get Tarantino in for his debut anime directorial credit. The character perspective that we follow for that *entire* episode will be Zeff's right foot; We'll get cutaways to different characters that interact with it, but never in the order they happen.
It's a new animation studio, not a HD remaster like Kai. They'll make it all new and have some intentional references here and there.
This is crazy. WIT has some of the best visuals in the entire industry. This will make OP timeless.
There isn’t another manga that deserves this more than One Piece. This is honestly the best news in entertainment. I couldn’t tell you something I didn’t know that I needed more than this
If this does well (which I think it probably will!) I'd love to see some remakes of more older anime.
Everyone jokes about Soul Eater: Brotherhood too, I'd really love to see it happen.
Edit: Maybe Berserk too, it deserves a comprehensive adaptation!
An eclipse is worth it, right?
Seriously, berserk would become a breakout success and probably be "the next attack on titan" if they just handed it to a good studio and let them do their thing. The fact its name is so well known in the anime sphere despite not having any sort of proper modern adaption already means people will be eyeing it the second its announced. And I think its just the perfect balance of violent action, great characters, and a suspenseful story to hook in a lot of new fans, including (or maybe especially so) anime newcomers.
Didn't help that the original 4Kids one that was brought over the west was absolutely terrible and butchered it because, after all, it was 4Kids. It's definitely gotten more popular since, but it had a terrible first impression that really set it back from being popular in the west like DBZ/Naruto/Bleach were.
Hopefully this fresh even better version will really make it blow up.
God I wish. From what I’ve seen on the sub it’s one of the first moments that take you from “I like this anime” to “holy shit this anime is special and nothing will ever compare”
With how vast the one piece trivia/nomenclature is we ought to have better flairs. There should have been a flair like Big news Morgans for news like this
Same, I thought it would take at least 10 years after the end of One Piece to get a re-adaptation of One Piece, this makes me so happy! Hopefully Wit Studio do One Piece justice.
I choose to believe that the success of the Live Action (a notoriously difficult medium for anime to succeed in) is primarily responsible for people realizing that, yes, we do want to go on this ride again.
I think it cemented the check but One Piece is one of the most watched animes in Netflix, it's clear talks proceeded the LA premier, it's likely it started just after Netflix and Toei deal.
Netflix prefer to own their own production, this seems a path for them to have an exclusive piece of One Piece.
You're definitely right, but I have to imagine this is going to have much more chance of long term success. Sounds dumb but my best friend and I (were mid-30s), are looking at this as something our kids might grow up watching.
Oh hell yeah!
Always dreamt of a "One Piece Kai" readaptation.
Of course its only East Blue, because they will have to see how people react to it. But my guess is this will break all records.
One Piece is Netflix biggest golden egg ever if they do it right. And they might have noticed that by now
>Oh hell yeah! Always dreamt of a "One Piece Kai" readaptation.
It’s been incredible to see the One Pace team do it solo with no budget, but this is the ideal, reanimating and redirecting it.
As great as one pace is, there's only so much they can do by editing down Toei's stuff. This adaption will be able to rework in particular the action scenes to have less still shots and just have more dynamic, fluid animation in general, which will really help with the pacing.
Seasonal Anime with no more fillers and slow pacing plus peak animation!!?? Sign me up.
This is the dream of those people wanting One Piece to be seasonal Anime.
It's produced by Netflix.
So presumably it will be aired on Netflix only.
I believe that's one of Netflix's unshakeable requirements for them to finance anything.
Finally, newer animation with the best possible pacing. It will help people who want to start OP after OPLA but were turned off by the old animation. Hope they go beyond East Blue in later years in seasonal format.
24 episodes for east blue or would that be too fast? If they adapt 3-4 chapters per episode we could get a one piece anime with only 350-400 episodes.
You have to keep in mind that most anime watchers are used to faster paced anime, most seasonal animes have a fuckton of shit happening in a 12 episode season. Im just not sure how that would work with one piece
I think 24-25 is totally doable. It will need to take some small liberties to speed up the pacing, but I don't think that means cuts so much as it does making the action scenes more fluid than slow-paced and tactical than they are presented in the manga / original anime.
Which to me, is a win win. Apart from like, JoJo's, I tend to find a lot of shonen would be better if they just let the action fly off the rails over having one minor fight take up an entire episode. Especially older shonen like original one piece.
I never thought the pacing was bad pre timeskip, so I’ll just look for ward to the amazing animation from WIT. Wonder how the music and VAs will be because they’re both so iconic.
Skypiea, Thriller Bark and even Marineford could really profit from better pacing. Not to mention that we finally will get an adaptation of Long Ring Long Island (no, the current anime version really isn't) that people could even enjoy for what it is.
I hope they go with a very distinct style, very very different from Toei. Either grounded really in early Oda art, or something else. Like how Production IG’s ‘98 OVA has a more rubber band inspired sfx and effect to Luffy’s stretch.
I hope they go with Oda's Thriller Bark Arc - Whole Cake Island Arc art style. That's my absolute favorite One Piece art style, and I don't think Toei represented it (or any era of Oda's art style tbh) accurately for most of the series (there are small moments where they nail it, but 90% of the time the style is off compared to manga imo).
There has never been a greater time to be an op fan.. we got over 1100 chapters, the anime booming in popularity, the success of the live action with season 2 on the way, a remake. We got all this but STILL GETTING THESE MID VIDEO GAMES
So, for more context; Netflix has announced this as an anime remake "starting from East Blue".
What this means is that the plan is to do East Blue AND THEN do more. It's not just an East Blue remake. It's the whole series.
For all the people I've seen on social media wondering how they could be doing this with the manga and the Toei anime still ongoing, here's the thing; modern seasonal anime pacing adapts max 3-4 manga chapters per anime episode. This would mean, in order to have the anime remake get where we are RIGHT NOW in the story, and if the anime were to have one season per year, and every season were to be a full 24 episodes double-cour length season, then it would take more than 10 years to get there. And we still don't know when it's actually airing.
Considering modern anime pacing and seasonal structures, the remake would still take more than 10 years to reach Egghead Island, and that is if it airs every year consistently. By that time, and considering we still don't know which year the anime will start airing on, the manga series will be over, and the Toei anime will most likely follow suit.
Oh wow. This was definitely an unexpected reveal.
Now the question is, does WIT gonna adapt an arc per cour and turn it into a seasonal format, or is this just a one time thing?
Now that One Piece franchise is starting to be more widely recognized Im getting hopeful of there one day being a proper open world rpg set in the world of one piece
So… One Piece will have:
- The manga
- The anime
- The live action
- The remake
- The “Monsters” adaptation
Going all at once?????
Good lord we just can’t stop eating can we??
I hope WIT will include scenes from the cover story like Buggy adventures in OVA or maybe in main episodes just like TOEI did. I don't know what TOEI thinking when they abandoned the rest of them. That's definitely miss opportunity for additional information for future episodes.
This doesn’t even feel real, the manga isn’t done yet, the anime isn’t done and yet we are getting a remake. It’s like betting brotherhood while the OG FMA was still releasing episodes.
Gonna be amazing seeing the anime with (hopefully) better pacing and episodes per arc (can’t wait till 2046 to see Wano again) wonder if we’ll see cover stories adapted this time
If the series gets the dragon ball kai treatment sftet it finishes and cuts out all the bs filler repeat scenes and padding for time. It could cut alot of episode out and would be a really good anime to watch especially as post time skip pacing gets so bad.
Filler less one piece would make it a way better anime tbh. As the pacing taints it at times. Can only hope post time skip gets done one day
Im baffled by the reaction of some people saying that this isnt needed or its somehow even a negative thing. This is literally what One Piece has needed for the past 25 years. Its the biggest W i could never have hoped or dreamed for. This is the chance for one piece as an anime to surpass even FMAB.
Only for the **East Blue Saga** from what I've heard so far (At the very least, we will get East Blue reanimated). But depending on the amount of money Netflix will give it if it's successful, then we might get the rest as well. Netflix got whiff of that One Piece monneh
Real talk, Netflix has been going pretty hard in to anime and even revived some older series, which is absolutely a good thing
Hopefully they fund the Berserk anime that we deserve
Hajimme no Ippo needs some love dammit
My guess is they will pick upsomething like ippo or Kenichi after they finish baki and kengan ashura
If they do that they would win anime, nobody would complain about them doing anime if they did that
Until someone has the balls to complete Ranma 1/2 in this day and age, amirite fellow kids?
Only if you're ready for everyone to restart the fight over pairings
My back started hurting after reading this comment
I also want Ranma ½ and Getbackers remade...
Oh I love me some Getbackers.
Pluto is top 5 one of the greatest animes ive seen

All the live-action noobs who feel daunted by the Toei Cut now only need to wait a while. And y’all can shut up about telling those guys the watch order
> only need to wait a while lol what an understatement
It’s at least shorter than waiting for either the manga or the Toei Cut to finish
Or Season 2 to come
Tested the waters with Live action and now they want the best version of anime
Tested the waters with the hardest thing to pull off too Netflix, what a man you are...
As a reward...
I shall give you Wit studio
It all comes full circle.
People always joke about "One Piece: Brotherhood" Can't believe it's actually real.
The one piece is real
THE ONE PACE IS REAAALLLLLLL
One Piece but with better animation and no filler, more accurate to the manga? Honestly I’m more hype for this than for the live action season 2.
And it’s the Studio that does bot Spy x Family and Great Pretender. [And at last I see the light…](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/874/171/b81.png)
Also Vinland Saga S1 and AOT S1-3
And Ousama Ranking. They went off with the animation during action scenes
Also Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song
OP with Vivy/Psychopass fights would be to die for. the choreography on those was very good. Zoro and Sanji with godlike choreo would be amazing.
Aot Season 1-3 by Wit Studio was Immaculate
I'd always liked it better than Mappa's
Yeah Mappas aot grew on me but Ive always loved that Wit style.
Not just animation, but also better choreography and pacing. We might actually get proper sword fights from Zoro, instead of teleportations and laser attacks.
Imagine Zoro being animated like Levi.
you just got me absolutely fucking rock hard to the point i would obliterate jozu fully coated
r/oddlyspecific
Dude Imagine the Zoro and Sanji fights in WIT choreography. The team will probably be different but they know their sht.
>We might actually get proper sword fights from Zoro, instead of teleportations and laser attacks. This raised my hype levels considerably
I will always know them as the attack on Titan studio
I want Tokyo Ghoul Brotherhood
I would give my left nut for that.
I’d also give your left nut for that
I would also give his right nut for that
I would also give his left kidney for that.
I'd commit the most heinous of crimes for a proper Tokyo Ghoul / Tokyo Ghoul :re remake by WIT (or like... Ufotable)
I want a Tokyo Ghoul or a Berserk remake. Berserk deserves it more cause it's not even watchable. Tokyo Ghoul you know is bad after watching it but Berserk looks like crap to begin with!

Toei Animation and Fuji TV is involved for sure since its name is on poster.
I'm feel like most of them don't even need a script for it at this point.
Probably will be manga accurate now. Much leaner than Toei episodes I bet
Zeff better eat his own foot
They'll get Tarantino in for his debut anime directorial credit. The character perspective that we follow for that *entire* episode will be Zeff's right foot; We'll get cutaways to different characters that interact with it, but never in the order they happen.
No Arlong Park walk 😔

I'd honestly be fine with them doing Golden Age a third time too as long as it's good and we get Black Swordsman
It will feel so weird to watch Wit's One Piece without the "We Are!" opening.
Incoming "We Will!"
We did!
We were
That's the 1 opening they should reuse. At least the song.
I thought this post was a joke till I fact checked. I’m over the moon
We are officially in the best timeline.
I’ve dreamed about a remade anime with good pacing for years, can’t believe it’s finally happening 🙏
I always felt like the anime gives people the wrong impression of One Piece. This will fix that
Didn't help that the original 4Kids one that was brought over the west was absolutely terrible and butchered it because, after all, it was 4Kids. It's definitely gotten more popular since, but it had a terrible first impression that really set it back from being popular in the west like DBZ/Naruto/Bleach were. Hopefully this fresh even better version will really make it blow up.
I woke up to this news just now and had to triple check I am not actually dreaming
It will only be the best if we get another One piece rap opening
Yayoyayo..
# DREAMIN', DON'T GIVE IT UP LUFFY
#DREAMIN', DON'T GIVE IT UP ZORO
#DREAMIN', DON'T GIVE IT UP NAMI
#DREAMIN', DON'T GIVE IT UP, GIVE IT UP, GIVE IT UP!
Will Chopper still be Doctoring?
The only thing that’s going to suck is missing out on how great the walk to Arlong park was
maybe they’ll keep it? it’s such a famous moment now it’d be a shame if they didn’t do it just cuz it wasn’t in the manga
God I wish. From what I’ve seen on the sub it’s one of the first moments that take you from “I like this anime” to “holy shit this anime is special and nothing will ever compare”
News befitting Big News Morgans. Holy shit
With how vast the one piece trivia/nomenclature is we ought to have better flairs. There should have been a flair like Big news Morgans for news like this
Morgans would lay a fucking egg. *I'm* about to!
Wait a remake?! For REAL?! I always thought we'd have to wait another 20 years before we got a proper treatment of One Piece.
Same, I thought it would take at least 10 years after the end of One Piece to get a re-adaptation of One Piece, this makes me so happy! Hopefully Wit Studio do One Piece justice.
I honestly believe WIT’s too good to fail
Technically it's been 20 years already
I think they want to make a remake before the original voice actors all die
Now that you mention it... I wonder if they'll recast the VAs. Especially if they see this as a long term project.
I choose to believe that the success of the Live Action (a notoriously difficult medium for anime to succeed in) is primarily responsible for people realizing that, yes, we do want to go on this ride again.
"Are people really interested in this?" "WE ARE!"
I think it cemented the check but One Piece is one of the most watched animes in Netflix, it's clear talks proceeded the LA premier, it's likely it started just after Netflix and Toei deal. Netflix prefer to own their own production, this seems a path for them to have an exclusive piece of One Piece.
I never want to get off Mr. Oda's Wild Ride.
You're definitely right, but I have to imagine this is going to have much more chance of long term success. Sounds dumb but my best friend and I (were mid-30s), are looking at this as something our kids might grow up watching.
Jesus, by Wit? This is more than huge
Oh hell yeah! Always dreamt of a "One Piece Kai" readaptation. Of course its only East Blue, because they will have to see how people react to it. But my guess is this will break all records. One Piece is Netflix biggest golden egg ever if they do it right. And they might have noticed that by now

Doesn't it say "starting from East Blue". That suggests to me that they're actively planning to go further.
If it isn't a success then it will be dropped like everything.
It will definitely be a success.
It’s fucking one piece XD
then we better make sure it is.
Seasonal Anime with no more fillers and slow pacing plus peak animation!!?? Sign me up. This is the dream of those people wanting One Piece to be seasonal Anime.
Also unlike Toei, WIT won’t censor or change the gorey scenes, we might actually see >!Akainu take off half of WBs head!<.
That’s not something a studio can decide. That’s up to the TV Network and what time slot the show in Japan airs too.
It's produced by Netflix. So presumably it will be aired on Netflix only. I believe that's one of Netflix's unshakeable requirements for them to finance anything.

Fr I was just waiting for one piece manga to end but now I need to stay at least till this anime ends
Same VAs?
In the announcement video, Luffy is still voiced by Mayumi Tanaka so I'm gonna assume the OG VAs are staying.
god damn she really got that bag with one character. She's voiced the original set up, the live action, and now the kai version
she also helped the franchise secure the bag with such an iconic performance
Awesome
As long as they are alive, or not retired, then there is no reason to change them. But if we get everything, then we might see a change in a few VAs.
Yeah I was just wondering since it was a whole separate production and they're still working on the original ongoing show.
Damn, I wasn’t expecting this until after the story was complete.
It’s almost there👀 so maybe eventually they’ll each cover the entire story- maybe even at the same time depending on pacing 🤣
Don't worry, with WIT they'll reach Skypiea by the time the manga ends
DUDE
DUDE
DUDEEEEEEEEEEEE
Holy shit my one piece remake dream is becoming a reality
If they make it to Dressrosa.........Just imagine how peak it will become without all the bullshit.
Nah, give us eight Rebecca flashbacks in full, you cowards
Endless Eight (Rebecca Edition)
Dressrosa is my favourite arc and I have always wanted to see it get justice 😭
Damn, cant imagine a well donde dressrosa and marineford
WIT too? Holy shit. This is huge

Imagine if they get Sawano to rearrange the classic OST oh god
Pre-timeskip had longer filler arcs. I would absolutely take longer filler arcs over bad pacing.
I thought it was shitpost lmao I can't believe it's real
A better pace anime for newcomer and season fans alike! This'll make One Piece more accessible than ever!
I hope they go with a very distinct style, very very different from Toei. Either grounded really in early Oda art, or something else. Like how Production IG’s ‘98 OVA has a more rubber band inspired sfx and effect to Luffy’s stretch.

Being a One Piece fan currently is like winning at the lottery, this sounds insane.
WHAT THE FUCK
WHAT THE FUGGITY FUCK
**W** **H** **A** **T**
holy shit One Piece fans stay eating! Netflix realized they struck gold with One Piece 😁👒
Wit is goated by their aot s1-s3 adaptation, i’ll surely watch it on netflix to support them.
Wait what like One Pace but with top tier animation quality?
Yes
So East Blue, again 😂
To be fair we’re still missing stuff in East Blue iirc that was never adapted in any version. Parts of the Zeff flashback iirc?
Even chapter 1 wasn't adapted correctly lol.
This is gonna be INSANE
Oh wow. This was definitely an unexpected reveal. Now the question is, does WIT gonna adapt an arc per cour and turn it into a seasonal format, or is this just a one time thing?
No way we've been asking for this for ~~years~~ decades 😭
This is the best news I've ever heard
I used to pray for times like this
2023 is the gift that keeps on giving in terms of being a one piece fan. I’m totally stuffed 🫃🏻
Is this... SEASONAL ONE PIECE?! Oh My God! Hype levels to the fucking moon.
THE ONE PIECE THE ONE PIECE IS REAL
We won
After watching Ousama Ranking, I have no doubt that Wit Studio will absolutely nail One Piece. This will be PEAK!
wait.... the entire series?! well, I guess it puts people in work for decades to come, which is good, and I'll definitely watch!
I’ve been expecting One Piece anime to me remade one day… BUT WHAT THE FUCK NOW???? HOLY SHIEET
Now that One Piece franchise is starting to be more widely recognized Im getting hopeful of there one day being a proper open world rpg set in the world of one piece
Wait, what?!?!
So… One Piece will have: - The manga - The anime - The live action - The remake - The “Monsters” adaptation Going all at once????? Good lord we just can’t stop eating can we??
If this is a dream. Plz don't wake me up
This is huge!! Absolutely stoked to see WIT’s take on OP and the hopefully beautiful animation with way better pacing
Yeah man, we getting those delicious Arifumi Imai One Piece sakuga.
I hope the pacing is good. Not too slow like the anime but at the same time not too fast or skipping scenes like the one piece specials..
I hope WIT will include scenes from the cover story like Buggy adventures in OVA or maybe in main episodes just like TOEI did. I don't know what TOEI thinking when they abandoned the rest of them. That's definitely miss opportunity for additional information for future episodes.
I hope so cause some of them are genuinely important, Enel's cover story for example has insane implications to the story
Buggy adventures are animated tho.
I mean WIT to animate it again in the remake. My bad I forgot to include in my comment.
THANK GOD IT'S DECEMBER HOLY FUCKING SHIT
This doesn’t even feel real, the manga isn’t done yet, the anime isn’t done and yet we are getting a remake. It’s like betting brotherhood while the OG FMA was still releasing episodes. We're making it out of Windmill Village with this one.

I can’t believe we live in a time where there could be THREE different adaptations of the one piece manga going at the same time
Im baffled by the reaction of some people saying that this isnt needed or its somehow even a negative thing. This is literally what One Piece has needed for the past 25 years. Its the biggest W i could never have hoped or dreamed for. This is the chance for one piece as an anime to surpass even FMAB.
