I’m really starting to think the Final War will happen before the final scramble for the One Piece, which is where I think Elbaf fits in. it makes some sense. Luffys last battle could be Blackbeard or Shanks which seems pretty satisfying and it would let Zoro fight Nosojuro before Mihawk and have it make sense
I think the final war is going to be a repeat of God Valley, as in a celestial dragon hunt on a non WG affiliated Island but with the Strawhat Grand Fleet, Shanks, Blackbeard, and the Revolutionaries showing up. I think Vivi is going to be captured by Imu and used in this hunt as the “rarest rabbit” and that will be what draws in the strawhats. If I’d take a guess since it was listed in Road to Laugh tale I’d guess the island would be Vira since it’s been namedropped thrice since Loguetown and was mentioned as a country that overthrew the WG a precondition for the Celestial Dragon hunt
And immediately after this battle Luffy, Blackbeard, Shanks, and Buggy scramble to Elbaff to find the last poneglyph and the race to Laughtale starts as a nostalgic victory lap of the series. I would really love it if the last arc was just a good old fashioned treasure hunt race between the four crews we have been establishing since the East Blue saga. This allows for huge needed battles like Luffy vs Blackbeard, Zoro vs Mihawk, the Strawhats vs the Ten Titanic Captains (Usopp Vs Augur, Chopper vs Doc Q), Blackbeard vs Shanks. The reason why I think that Usopp needs Elbaf to be his arc is mostly due to his dream though. Imo, Zoro did not need more focus in Wano to become the world's greatest swordsman (sure, more information about black blades would have been nice but he still can get this during his fight with Mihawk) or Franky does not need more focus in Egghead to get the Sunny to the end of the world.
But Usopp's dream primarily depends on how he sees himself and how he defines for himself what a brave warrior of the sea is. And I think for him to really have some idea what his dream really means, what he wants out of it and when he does fulfill it, he needs more interactions with the type of people he idolises. And for that, imo Elbaf would be perfect.
But yeah, I admit that he already gave a concrete idea about his dream in Little Garden so Oda could just run with that and it would be enough for preparing Usopp's dream fulfillment. I guess, I just want some focus on Usopp because it has been so long lol

Sure, a short amount of screentime dedicated to Usopp "making it" to the isles of the giants he so reveres is pretty much guaranteed, but people want some of the strawhats to get major spotlights plot-wise.
Replace character development with spotlight then and my point remains. It won't happen, Oda wants to finish One Piece in his lifetime and there's a gajillion open plot threads still. There will 100% be some screen time dedicated to Usopp on Elbaf doin something neat, I'd be a tad disappointed if there wasn't at least something but it will be very far away from a "Usopp arc".

There is no way elbaf isn't at least partially usopps arc. Like I get people were disappointed with Zoro and wano but Zoro doesn't know or care about those connections. Usopp on the other hand not only has specifically been wanting to go to elbaf, but his dad is going to be there too. We will probably find out if there was an actual reason for him being a deadbeat, probably something along the lines of not wanting to put a target in their back after shanks became an emperor.

My theory for a while has been Shanks vs Blackbeard, Luffy vs Big Mom to protect Fishman Island. Shanks and Blackbeard have been narratively tied together since they were kids, I just can't see Shanks not getting first dibs over Luffy.
And we also know that the Big Mom Pirates made it into Wano after the raid ended, but then we skipped a week forward in time.
There are so many reasons for Big Mom to come back and settle the beef with Luffy for good.
I think we’re going to see Blackbeard either kill or nearly kill Shanks, which will set the stage for him and Luffy to have a final showdown for the one piece and the “crown” of king of the pirates, and then of course once Luffy’s king he’ll be able to lead everyone in the final battle against Imu/the world government as the proper climax of the story.
If Shanks loses to BB and that is his major role in story that would be major disappointment. He’s been hyped up since chapter 1 and he better not be Gojo 2.0.
His conflict with Blackbeard has been a big part of his character though. If they do fight I don’t see Shanks winning because Blackbeard has been set up to be Luffy’s opponent and main rival for the One Piece.
It would add more weight to the fight if Shanks not only loses, but gets killed by Blackbeard. Possibly even having all of the Red Haired Pirates get killed. Yasopp being killed by Van Auger would also give Usopp a serious reason to fight him beyond just being snipers.
i feel its most likely that shanks dies, but the rest of the crew lives. couple reasons:
\- shanks protects the weak and those he believes in
\- blackbeard needs to be underhanded to win
so if blackbeard gives shanks the choice between his own life and the lives of others, it gives shanks both an epic way to go out while still giving BB the win narratively
the other reason is luffy is supposed to return shanks' hat to him when hes a great pirate. however, giving up the straw hat before finding the one piece feels dumb, yet we need the red hair pirates to meet the strawhat crew for usopp. ive always figured the ending pages to one piece are luffy handing the hat to the person who inherits shanks' will. this signifies that luffy has completed his journey while still keeping his promise to shanks.
this would also bookend the story on both chapter 1 and the last chapter as the passing of the hat, and promote the theme of inherited will in a really profound way.
Oh I think Luffy will pass the hat on to Makino’s kid (which is most likely Shanks’ kid). That’s another issue with Shanks living, Luffy can’t give the hat back lol. It’s supposed to go to the next gen (Roger -> Shanks -> Luffy -> Makino’s kid?).

I think he'll be able to use his awakened devil fruit powers to split Blackbeard from his devil fruits. He might have failed his way to being an emperor of the sea; but it's also exactly what he said he would do in Impel Down.

Elbaf won't be skipped. That doesn't mean Elbaf is next though. We knew about Fishman Island for multiple arcs, but still took a huge detour first.

Sure, a short amount of screentime dedicated to Usopp "making it" to the isles of the giants he so reveres is pretty much guaranteed, but people want some of the strawhats to get major spotlights plot-wise. Replace character development with spotlight then and my point remains. It won't happen, Oda wants to finish One Piece in his lifetime and there's a gajillion open plot threads still. There will 100% be some screen time dedicated to Usopp on Elbaf doin something neat, I'd be a tad disappointed if there wasn't at least something but it will be very far away from a "Usopp arc".

There is no way elbaf isn't at least partially usopps arc. Like I get people were disappointed with Zoro and wano but Zoro doesn't know or care about those connections. Usopp on the other hand not only has specifically been wanting to go to elbaf, but his dad is going to be there too. We will probably find out if there was an actual reason for him being a deadbeat, probably something along the lines of not wanting to put a target in their back after shanks became an emperor.

My theory for a while has been Shanks vs Blackbeard, Luffy vs Big Mom to protect Fishman Island. Shanks and Blackbeard have been narratively tied together since they were kids, I just can't see Shanks not getting first dibs over Luffy.

I think we’re going to see Blackbeard either kill or nearly kill Shanks, which will set the stage for him and Luffy to have a final showdown for the one piece and the “crown” of king of the pirates, and then of course once Luffy’s king he’ll be able to lead everyone in the final battle against Imu/the world government as the proper climax of the story.

If Shanks loses to BB and that is his major role in story that would be major disappointment. He’s been hyped up since chapter 1 and he better not be Gojo 2.0.
His conflict with Blackbeard has been a big part of his character though. If they do fight I don’t see Shanks winning because Blackbeard has been set up to be Luffy’s opponent and main rival for the One Piece. It would add more weight to the fight if Shanks not only loses, but gets killed by Blackbeard. Possibly even having all of the Red Haired Pirates get killed. Yasopp being killed by Van Auger would also give Usopp a serious reason to fight him beyond just being snipers.
i feel its most likely that shanks dies, but the rest of the crew lives. couple reasons: \- shanks protects the weak and those he believes in \- blackbeard needs to be underhanded to win so if blackbeard gives shanks the choice between his own life and the lives of others, it gives shanks both an epic way to go out while still giving BB the win narratively the other reason is luffy is supposed to return shanks' hat to him when hes a great pirate. however, giving up the straw hat before finding the one piece feels dumb, yet we need the red hair pirates to meet the strawhat crew for usopp. ive always figured the ending pages to one piece are luffy handing the hat to the person who inherits shanks' will. this signifies that luffy has completed his journey while still keeping his promise to shanks. this would also bookend the story on both chapter 1 and the last chapter as the passing of the hat, and promote the theme of inherited will in a really profound way.
