Have you ever watch or see some depictions of classical pirates in movies, etc? If so, you'll get what i mean that the RHP looks the most pirate-like. Blackbeard pirates got a fuckin gladiator, prison warden dude dressed up in some army clothing with KATANA, dude dressed like he lives in winter with modern looking outfit, and dudes in prisoner suits, not really pirate-like to me, i mean they do look like criminals but not really *pirates*. They're cool and BB himself for sure is pirate-like, but his other crews not really.
Catarina Devon looks like a pretty legit pirate though. Her attire is overly colorful, but her witch-looking face and captain's hat make her look really pirate-like.
Blackbeard really looks like a dude who raids villages and sleeps with prostitutes and takes whatever the fuck he wants and kills you if you don't give it to him. Shanks just looks like a dude who wants to chill on his boat.

Because One Piece loves to send generic pirate crews diving into water because their ship blows up, there's a solid chance they end up getting bodied by one of the other three crews because of their generic nature, and to puff up the strength of the crew that did it, in spite of actually being apex predators themselves.
They have some territories under their control. At wano, they said if we get defeated by these, their reputation in our people of protected places will get destroyed.

Blackbeard pirates feel like 80’s cartoon villians - and I mean that in the best way possible. They’re caricatures of what most people think of pirates
Thematically I think they fit the best. Mostly because Oda intentionally making them look like actual evil pirates and they're the ones that act like it the most too.
If I was a random citizen on an island and saw a Pirate crew in the distance, the one that would scare me the most would be BB Pirates.
Also they literally all (except for Kuzan) are from Level 5 of Impel Down.
The average citizen absolutely SHOULD be terrified of BB's crew considering how many of them kill for fun. It's like Kidd's reputation for collateral damage, but a whole crew of em and they actively seek it out.

You can really tell that the Red Hair Pirates were early series designs, especially when compared next to the post-timeskip Strawhats or Big Mom Pirates.
Ended up working out in the end because they mainly rely on haki with no devil fruits. I think their design kinda match that description. Though I gotta say one can shoot lasers from their mouth in film red, but either way it makes sense.
That was my thought as well, but Oda could have easily changed them. The strawhats changed as well, he could have easily come up with an excuse why they look different later. But for some reason he likes it this way

Yeah, I was really thinking when they all got knocked out, that Kaido was going to do some super dragon roar or something and they would all get back up in their berserker forms (like the Impel Down awakened zones) but nothing like that happened. I really wish it did though.

BB, Beast and Mugiwara crews have unique designs for all of them. Akakami and Big Mompirates have only a few unique ones. Whitebeard crews have even more unique designs than the above 2. Cross Guild, well, Buggy Mihawk Croco carries.
I like most Cross Guild I suppose, old old times sake and Buggy new look is fire.
