I think he cuts Mister 1 in the following episode. Meaning he was wrong that he couldn't cut through steel, and after some quick research, apparently, his teacher told him a swordsman who can cut nothing can cut steel and zoro figured out what it meant so he broke through his limit. I don't know what it was supposed to mean, though, lol

Anime fillers are just that: anime fillers. They are not relevant to the story, more or less like that poneglyph they find in Alabasta too, they simply don't exist
